The estimate of the probability of the large deviation or the statistical random field is the key to ensure the convergence of moments of the associated estimator, and it also plays an essential role to prove mathematical validity of the asymptotic expansion of the estimator. For non-linear stochastic processes, it involves technical difficulties to show a standard exponential type estimate; besides, it is not necessary for these purposes. In this paper, we propose a polynomial-type large deviation inequality which is easily verified by the L p -boundedness of certain functionals; usually they are simple additive functionals. We treat a statistical random field with multi-grades and discuss M and Bayesian type estimators. As an application, we show the behavior of those estimators, including convergence of moments, for the statistical random field in the quasi-likelihood analysis of the stochastic differential equation that is possibly multi-dimensional and non-linear. The results are new even for stochastic differential equations, while they obviously apply to other various statistical models.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We investigate the asymptotic properties of the maximum likelihood estimator and Bayes estimator of the drift parameter for stochastic processes satisfying linear stochastic differential equations driven by a mixed fractional Brownian motion. We obtain a Bernstein–von Mises-type theorem also for such a class of processes.  相似文献

Maximum quasi-likelihood estimators have several nice asymptotic properties. We show that, in many situations, a family of estimators, called the minimum f-divergence estimators, can be defined such that each estimator has the same asymptotic properties as the maximum quasi-likelihood estimator. The family of minimum f-divergence estimators include the maximum quasi-likelihood estimators as a special case. When a quasi-likelihood is the log likelihood from some exponential family, Amari's dual geometries can be used to study the maximum likelihood estimator. A dual geometric structure can also be defined for more general quasi-likelihood functions as well as for the larger family of minimum f-divergence estimators. The relationship between the f-divergence and the quasi-likelihood function and the relationship between the f-divergence and the power divergence is discussed. This work was supported by National Science Foundation grant DMS 88-03584.  相似文献

We introduce a stochastic model of diffeomorphisms, whose action on a variety of data types descends to stochastic evolution of shapes, images and landmarks. The stochasticity is introduced in the vector field which transports the data in the large deformation diffeomorphic metric mapping framework for shape analysis and image registration. The stochasticity thereby models errors or uncertainties of the flow in following the prescribed deformation velocity. The approach is illustrated in the example of finite-dimensional landmark manifolds, whose stochastic evolution is studied both via the Fokker–Planck equation and by numerical simulations. We derive two approaches for inferring parameters of the stochastic model from landmark configurations observed at discrete time points. The first of the two approaches matches moments of the Fokker–Planck equation to sample moments of the data, while the second approach employs an expectation-maximization based algorithm using a Monte Carlo bridge sampling scheme to optimise the data likelihood. We derive and numerically test the ability of the two approaches to infer the spatial correlation length of the underlying noise.

We consider nonsynchronous sampling of parameterized stochastic regression models, which contain stochastic differential equations. Constructing a quasi-likelihood function, we prove that the quasi-maximum likelihood estimator and the Bayes type estimator are consistent and asymptotically mixed normal when the sampling frequency of the nonsynchronous data becomes large.  相似文献

We consider a two-stage stochastic variational inequality arising from a general convex two-stage stochastic programming problem, where the random variables have continuous distributions. The equivalence between the two problems is shown under some moderate conditions, and the monotonicity of the two-stage stochastic variational inequality is discussed under additional conditions. We provide a discretization scheme with convergence results and employ the progressive hedging method with double parameterization to solve the discretized stochastic variational inequality. As an application, we show how the water resources management problem under uncertainty can be transformed from a two-stage stochastic programming problem to a two-stage stochastic variational inequality, and how to solve it, using the discretization scheme and the progressive hedging method with double parameterization.

Abstract

This article studies classes of random measures on topological spaces perturbed by stochastic processes (a.k.a. modulated random measures). We render a rigorous construction of the stochastic integral of functions of two variables and showed that such an integral is a random measure. We establish a new Campbell-type formula that, along with a rigorous construction of modulation, leads to the intensity of a modulated random measure. Mathematical formalism of integral-driven random measures and their stochastic intensities find numerous applications in stochastic models, physics, astrophysics, and finance that we discuss throughout the article.  相似文献

Abstract

Nested random effects models are often used to represent similar processes occurring in each of many clusters. Suppose that, given cluster-specific random effects b, the data y are distributed according to f(y|b, Θ), while b follows a density p(b|Θ). Likelihood inference requires maximization of ∫ f(y|b, Θ)p(bdb with respect to Θ. Evaluation of this integral often proves difficult, making likelihood inference difficult to obtain. We propose a multivariate Taylor series approximation of the log of the integrand that can be made as accurate as desired if the integrand and all its partial derivatives with respect to b are continuous in the neighborhood of the posterior mode of b|Θ,y. We then apply a Laplace approximation to the integral and maximize the approximate integrated likelihood via Fisher scoring. We develop computational formulas that implement this approach for two-level generalized linear models with canonical link and multivariate normal random effects. A comparison with approximations based on penalized quasi-likelihood, Gauss—Hermite quadrature, and adaptive Gauss-Hermite quadrature reveals that, for the hierarchical logistic regression model under the simulated conditions, the sixth-order Laplace approach is remarkably accurate and computationally fast.  相似文献

We consider the estimation problem of misspecified ergodic Lévy driven stochastic differential equation models based on high-frequency samples. We utilize a widely applicable and tractable Gaussian quasi-likelihood approach which focuses on mean and variance structure. It is shown that the Gaussian quasi-likelihood estimators of the drift and scale parameters still satisfy polynomial type probability estimates and asymptotic normality at the same rate as the correctly specified case. In their derivation process, the theory of extended Poisson equation for time-homogeneous Feller Markov processes plays an important role. Our result confirms the reliability of the Gaussian quasi-likelihood approach for SDE models.  相似文献

An advection-diffusion equation with time and space dependent random coefficients is derived as a model for the plutonium concentration changes in the surface soil around the Rocky Flats Plant northwest of Denver, Colorado. The equation is used to fit a set of temporal-spatial data sampled annually over a 23 year period from 71 sites around the plant. The coefficients of the advection-diffusion equation are derived from the estimated covariance function of the observed random field using a combination of maximum likelihood and quasi-likelihood techniques. Goodness-of-fit of the model to the data is also assessed. Finally we interpret the model in terms of the advection-diffusion mechanism.  相似文献

The literature on Bayesian methods for the analysis of discrete-time semi-Markov processes is sparse. In this paper, we introduce the semi-Markov beta-Stacy process, a stochastic process useful for the Bayesian non-parametric analysis of semi-Markov processes. The semi-Markov beta-Stacy process is conjugate with respect to data generated by a semi-Markov process, a property which makes it easy to obtain probabilistic forecasts. Its predictive distributions are characterized by a reinforced random walk on a system of urns.

We address estimation of parametric coefficients of a pure-jump Lévy driven univariate stochastic differential equation (SDE) model, which is observed at high frequency over a fixed time period. It is known from the previous study (Masuda, 2013) that adopting the conventional Gaussian quasi-maximum likelihood estimator then leads to an inconsistent estimator. In this paper, under the assumption that the driving Lévy process is locally stable, we extend the Gaussian framework into a non-Gaussian counterpart, by introducing a novel quasi-likelihood function formally based on the small-time stable approximation of the unknown transition density. The resulting estimator turns out to be asymptotically mixed normally distributed without ergodicity and finite moments for a wide range of the driving pure-jump Lévy processes, showing much better theoretical performance compared with the Gaussian quasi-maximum likelihood estimator. Extensive simulations are carried out to show good estimation accuracy. The case of large-time asymptotics under ergodicity is briefly mentioned as well, where we can deduce an analogous asymptotic normality result.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, the asymptotic behavior of solutions for a nonlinear Marcus stochastic differential equation with multiplicative two-sided Lévy noise is studied. We plan to consider this equation as a random dynamical system. Thus, we have to interpret a Lévy noise as a two-sided metric dynamical system. For that, we have to introduce some fundamental properties of such a noise. So far most studies have only discussed two-sided Lévy processes which are defined by combining two-independent Lévy processes. In this paper, we use another definition of two-sided Lévy process by expanding the probability space. Having this metric dynamical system we will show that the Marcus stochastic differential equation with a particular drift coefficient and multiplicative noise generates a random dynamical system which has a random attractor.  相似文献

The paper studies stochastic integration with respect to Gaussian processes and fields. It is more convenient to work with a field than a process: by definition, a field is a collection of stochastic integrals for a class of deterministic integrands. The problem is then to extend the definition to random integrands. An orthogonal decomposition of the chaos space of the random field, combined with the Wick product, leads to the Itô-Skorokhod integral, and provides an efficient tool to study the integral, both analytically and numerically. For a Gaussian process, a natural definition of the integral follows from a canonical correspondence between random processes and a special class of random fields. Also considered are the corresponding linear stochastic evolution equations.  相似文献

We construct, for various classes of p-adic-valued functions, stochastic integrals with respect to the Poisson random measure. This leads to the construction of Markov processes over the field of p-adic numbers by means of stochastic differential equations.  相似文献

Abstract

A model for the quasistatic evolution of the motion of an elastic body which is subject to material damage is presented and analyzed. The model takes the form of an elliptic system for the displacements coupled with a parabolic inclusion for the damage field. In both the system and the inclusion the coefficient and input functions that are present are assumed to be stochastic processes dependent on a random variable. The existence of a weak solution to the model is established using a sequence of approximate problems and passage to a limit. Moreover, the weak solution is shown to be product measurable.  相似文献

We consider the Euler scheme for stochastic differential equations with jumps, whose intensity might be infinite and the jump structure may depend on the position. This general type of SDE is explicitly given for Feller processes and a general convergence condition is presented.

In particular, the characteristic functions of the increments of the Euler scheme are calculated in terms of the symbol of the Feller process in a closed form. These increments are increments of Lévy processes and, thus, the Euler scheme can be used for simulation by applying standard techniques from Lévy processes.  相似文献

Abstract

A discrete image of several colors is viewed as a discrete random field obtained by clipping or quantizing a Gaussian random field at several levels. Given a discrete image, parameters of the unobserved original Gaussian random field are estimated. Discrete images, statistically similar to the original image, are then obtained by generating different realizations of the Gaussian field and clipping them. To overcome the computational difficulties, the block Toeplitz covariance matrix of the Gaussian field is embedded into a block circulant matrix which is diagonalized by the fast Fourier transform. The Gibbs sampler is used to apply the stochastic EM algorithm for the estimation of the field's parameters.  相似文献

Abstract

This article is concerned with studying the following problem: Consider a multivariate stochastic process whose law is characterized in terms of some infinitesimal characteristics, such as the infinitesimal generator in case of finite Markov chains. Under what conditions imposed on these infinitesimal characteristics of this multivariate process, the univariate components of the process agree in law with given univariate stochastic processes. Thus, in a sense, we study a stochastic processe' counterpart of the stochastic dependence problem, which in case of real valued random variables is solved in terms of Sklar's theorem.  相似文献

Abstract

Versions of the Gibbs Sampler are derived for the analysis of data from hidden Markov chains and hidden Markov random fields. The principal new development is to use the pseudolikelihood function associated with the underlying Markov process in place of the likelihood, which is intractable in the case of a Markov random field, in the simulation step for the parameters in the Markov process. Theoretical aspects are discussed and a numerical study is reported.  相似文献
