Ridge waveguides were fabricated using an external field, a precision lapping machine and neutron loop discharge (NLD) in magnesium-oxide-doped lithium niobate. The measured quasi-phase-matching (QPM) wavelength of the second-harmonic generation (SHG) in a 30 mm long periodically poled magnesium-doped lithium niobate (PPMgLN) ridge waveguide which has a domain period of 6.8 μm is about 532 nm. A fabricated periodically poled magnesium-doped lithium niobate ridge waveguide was duty cycle of 51.9 ± 2.83% and demonstrated second-harmonic generation. By using this periodically poled magnesium-doped lithium niobate ridge waveguide, highly effective, low-cost optical devices with high power or short wavelength can be achieved.  相似文献

In this work, formation of gold nanoparticles in radio frequency (RF) reactive magnetron co-sputtered Au-SiO2 thin films post annealed at different temperatures in Ar + H2 atmosphere has been investigated. Optical, surface topography, chemical state and crystalline properties of the prepared films were analyzed by using UV-visible spectrophotometry, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD) techniques, respectively. Optical absorption spectrum of the Au-SiO2 thin films annealed at 800 °C showed one surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption peak located at 520 nm relating to gold nanoparticles. According to XPS analysis, it was found that the gold nanoparticles had a tendency to accumulate on surface of the heat-treated films in the metallic state. AFM images showed that the nanoparticles were uniformly distributed on the film surface with grain size of about 30 nm. Using XRD analysis average crystalline size of the Au particles was estimated to about 20 nm.  相似文献

Geometric and electronic properties of ordered copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films grown on hydrogen- and antimony-passivated Si(1 1 1) surfaces have been studied using near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) and photoemission spectroscopy. The H- and Sb-passivations of vicinal Si surfaces resulted in different molecular orientations in thick films, namely upright and near lying molecules, respectively. In the absence of the vicinality, the molecules on the Sb-passivated surface changed towards upright orientation. The work function of the films was monitored during the growth and correlated with the molecular orientation.  相似文献

Broadband difference frequency generation is theoretically and experimentally confirmed. It is shown that a wide tunable range of greater than 220 nm (FWHM) around 4.2 μm can be obtained in a 40 mm long periodically poled lithium niobate crystal with a single quasi-phase-matched period at a certain temperature. The broad bandwidth can be explained by means of the group-velocity matching or phase-mismatch minimization at overlapped phase-match conditions. The result shows that the broadband mid-infrared (mid-IR) laser source may find profound applications in trace gases detection of multiple atmospheric species and high resolution spectroscopy.  相似文献

The adsorption of α-sexithiophene (6T) on Cu(1 1 0), Cu(1 1 0)-(2 × 1)O and the mesoscopically patterned Cu-O striped surface have been studied by STM (scanning tunnelling microscopy), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and NEXAFS (near edge X-ray absorption fine structure). The molecular resolution of the STM allowed to determine the orientation and local order of the molecules in the submonolayer and monolayer regime. It is shown that the 6T molecules align with their long molecular axis along the densely packed copper rows on Cu(1 1 0) and along the Cu-O rows on the Cu(1 1 0)-(2 × 1)O surface. On the striped phase with alternating copper and Cu-O regions the molecules adsorb first on the Cu regions and after complete filling of these regions, on the Cu-O. The orientation is the same on both areas as on the respective pristine surfaces with the only exception that the molecules reorient by 90° if the width of the copper regions is smaller than the molecular length. The NEXAFS measurements allowed for a determination of the adsorption geometry of the molecules: while 6T lies flat on the surface on clean copper, the molecular planes are inclined with an angle as high as 39° with respect to the substrate on (2 × 1)O. For the latter, this inclination angle is 4° higher than in the bulk crystal structure of 6T observed for thicker films to release stress and allow commensurability with the substrate lattice, while for the former it is a result of the aromatic system bonding to the Cu(1 1 0) surface, as confirmed by XPS.  相似文献

In this article, we present studies on therahertz (THz) wave generation and frequency up-conversion in a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystal. A frequency at 1.37 THz was generated as femtosecond pump pulses passed through a PPLN crystal with grating periods of 30 μm. The pump-induced THz wave interacts with the probe wave in the crystal by frequency mixing. The frequency up-converted THz wave is easily detected by a normal photodiode. A new scheme for generation and detection of THz wave in one non-linear crystal was proposed.  相似文献

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to characterize the growth of Au deposited via evaporation onto the positive face of single crystalline, lithium niobate, LiNbO3(0 0 0 1) surface. In order to study the mechanisms for the ordering and aggregation of a noble metal on this ferroelectric surface, topographic and phase contrast imaging of the fractional surface coverage of Au were performed. Atomically flat, uniformly poled LiNbO3 surfaces were prepared via an ambient high temperature anneal and served as a support for the thin gold films. These gold atomic layers were grown using electron bombardment evaporation sources under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions and subsequently characterized under both vacuum and ambient environments. Using AFM it was found that gold preferentially nucleates at the top of LiNbO3 substrate step edges. With increased coverage, island formation proceeds due to local aggregation of adsorbed gold on each substrate terrace. Based on local imaging of the growth morphology, the data is discussed in terms of thin film growth mechanisms as well as the influence of native surface features such as defects and charge distribution. Understanding growth mechanisms for gold layers on ferroelectric surfaces allows for a fuller appreciation of how atomic deposition of metal atoms on patterned poled LiNbO3 surfaces would occur as well as yielding greater insight on the atomic characteristics of metals on ferroelectric interfaces.  相似文献

The surfaces of three kinds of copolymerized polyimide films were irradiated by ultraviolet (UV) light. The chemical composition changes of the films after irradiation were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), while their topographical changes were studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Besides, the surface topographical variation induced changes in friction behavior were recorded on a DF·PM unidirectional friction and wear test rig in a ball on block contact configuration. It was found that photodegradation took place, which induced the chain scission of the polyimide molecules and formation of low molecular weight oxidized material (LMWOM). Due to different photostability of the three kinds of polyimide, different chemical composition changes and forms of “LMWOM” were observed. Also, different friction behavior variations of the three kinds of polyimide films were recorded. It is thought that the polyimide film of PI (PPA + PMDA) with rod-like structures might have stronger photo-resistance, whose form of “LMWOM” was “nodules” and whose friction coefficient increased at 2 h of irradiation possibly due to cross-linking. In the case of PI (OPA + PMDA) and PI (MPA + PMDA) films, they mainly underwent photodegradation, which might soften the surfaces and increased the friction coefficients with increasing irradiation time.  相似文献

Water and methanol temperature programmed desorption (TPD) measurements were performed on the positive (c+) and negative (c) surfaces of poled ferroelectric lithium niobate (LiNbO3) single crystals. The results indicate that the molecule-surface interactions are both coverage and polarization-dependent. From a comparison of the TPD spectra for the positive and negative surfaces, it is shown that the desorption temperatures of water and methanol are consistently lower on the negative surface by 15 K and 20 K, respectively. The TPD spectra were simulated using the Polanyi-Wigner equation with a coverage-dependent energy term. These calculations show that the polarization dependence of the desorption temperature is due to a difference in the zero-coverage desorption energies on the two surfaces equal to a few kJ per mole. The mechanism for the polarization effect is explored with in situ pyroelectric voltage measurements, which indicate that a surface voltage of ±2 mV develops in the LiNbO3(0 0 0 1) samples during TPD measurements. The magnitude of the pyroelectric-induced surface charge is heating rate dependent.  相似文献

This paper reports on a high-repetition-rate dual signal-wave (DSW) optical parametric oscillator (OPO) operating at the 1.5 μm band with tunable wavelength intervals from 2.5 nm to 69.1 nm. Two periodically poled crystals, a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) with multiple gratings and a single grating MgO-doped PPLN (PPMgOLN), are cascaded in the same OPO cavity to generate dual signal-waves by using quasi-phase-matched (QPM) technique. The pump source was a Q-switched diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser operating at 50 kHz. At an incident pump power of 3 W, an average output power of 169.6 mW at 1489.2 nm and 1558.3 nm has been achieved.  相似文献

The immobilisation of thiol-derivatized cobalt porphyrins on gold surfaces has been studied in detail by means of combined scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). S-thioacetyl has been used as a protective group for the thiol. Different routes for deprotection of the acetyl groups were performed in acidic and in basic conditions. The results show the formation of monolayer films for the different preparation schemes. The immobilisation of the molecules on the gold surface takes place through the thiol-linkers by the formation of multiple thiolate bonds. In the case of layers formed with protected porphyrins approximately 60% of the linkers are bonded to the gold surface whereas for deprotected layers the amount of bonded linkers is increased up to about 80%. STM measurements revealed that the molecules arrange in a disordered overlayer and do not exhibit mobility on the gold surface. Annealing experiments have been performed in order to test the stability of the porphyrin layers. Disordered patterns have been observed in the STM images after annealing at T = 400 °C. XPS revealed that the sulphur content disappeared completely after annealing at T = 180 °C and that the molecules did undergo significant modifications.  相似文献

Anodic oxidation could be employed to produce crystalline titania films on Ti6Al4 V surfaces for inducing apatite formation in simulated body fluid (SBF). In this work, the effect of further heat treatment on the bioactivity of anodic titania films was researched. The surface constitution, morphology, crystal structure and apatite-forming ability of titania films were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results indicated the apatite formation on the Ti6Al4 V surfaces could be attributed to abundance of Ti-OH groups formed via anodic oxidation, but subsequent heat treatment would decrease the amount of surface hydroxyl (OH) groups and result in the loss of the apatite-forming ability.  相似文献

The growth of 3C-SiC on Si(1 1 1) substrate was performed at different carbonization temperatures and substrate temperatures by solid-source molecular beam epitaxy (SSMBE). The properties of SiC film were analyzed with in situ reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED), X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The best carbonization temperature of 810 °C was found to be optimal for the surface carbonization. The quality of SiC film grown on Si at substrate temperature of 1000 °C is best. The worse crystalline quality for the sample grown at higher temperature was attributed to the large mismatch of thermal expansion coefficient between SiC and Si which caused more dislocation when sample was cooled down to room temperature from higher substrate temperature. Furthermore, the larger size of single pit and the total area of the pits make the quality of SiC films grown at higher temperature worse. More Si atoms for the sample grown at lower temperature were responsible for the degradation of crystalline quality for the sample grown at lower temperature.  相似文献

To investigate the possibility of manipulating the surface chemical properties of finely dispersed metal films through ferroelectric polarization, the interaction of palladium with oppositely poled LiNbO3(0 0 0 1) substrates was characterized. Low energy ion scattering indicated that the Pd tended to form three-dimensional clusters on both positively and negatively poled substrates even at the lowest coverages. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) showed an upward shift in the binding energy of the Pd 3d core levels of 0.9 eV at the lowest Pd coverages, which slowly decayed toward the bulk value with increasing Pd coverage. These shifts were independent of the poling direction of the substrate and similar to those attributed to cluster size effects on inert supports. Thus, the spectroscopic data suggested that Pd does not interact strongly with LiNbO3 surfaces. The surface chemical properties of the Pd clusters were investigated using CO temperature programmed desorption. On both positively and negatively poled substrates, CO desorption from freshly deposited Pd showed a splitting of the broad 460 K desorption peak characteristic of bulk Pd into distinct peaks at 270 and 490 K as the Pd coverage was decreased below 1.0 ML; behavior that also resembles that seen on inert supports. It was found that a small fraction of the adsorbed CO may dissociate (<2%) for Pd on both positively and negatively poled substrates. The thermal response of the smaller Pd clusters on the LiNbO3 surfaces, however, was different from that of inert substrates. In a manner similar to Nb2O5, when CO desorption experiments were carried out a second time, the adsorption capacity decreased and the higher temperature desorption peak shifted from 490 K to below 450 K. This behavior was independent of the substrate poling direction. Thus, while there was evidence that LiNbO3 does not behave as a completely inert support, no significant differences between positively and negatively poled surfaces were observed. This lack of sensitivity of the surface properties of the Pd to the poling direction of the substrate is attributed to the three-dimensional Pd clusters being too thick for their surfaces to be influenced by the polarization of the underlying substrate.  相似文献

The interaction of hydrogen (deuterium) with different modified Pd(1 1 1) surfaces has been investigated. The focus was put on the energy and angel dependence of the desorbing molecules from oxygen covered, potassium covered and vanadium oxide covered surfaces. Conventional adsorption/desorption as well as permeation/desorption experiments were performed. For the oxygen covered surface optimum reaction rates for water production and the energy distribution of the reaction products were determined, both for the reaction of oxygen with molecular hydrogen as well as with atomic hydrogen. Potassium on the surface enhances the activation barrier for hydrogen adsorption resulting in a hyper-thermal desorption flux and a forward focused angular distribution of desorption. Permeation/desorption of deuterium from ultra-thin vanadium oxide films yield mainly thermalized desorbing molecules or slightly hyper-thermal, depending on the oxidation state of the surface oxide.  相似文献

We have grown lead iron niobate thin films with composition Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3 (PFN) on (0 0 1) SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The influence of the deposition conditions on the phase purity was studied. Due to similar thermodynamic stability spaces, a pyrochlore phase often coexists with the PFN perovskite phase. By optimizing the kinetic parameters, we succeeded in identifying a deposition window which resulted in epitaxial perovskite-phase PFN thin films with no identifiable trace of impurity phases appearing in the X-ray diffractograms. PFN films having thicknesses between 20 and 200 nm were smooth and epitaxially oriented with the substrate and as demonstrated by RHEED streaks which were aligned with the substrate axes. X-ray diffraction showed that the films were completely c-axis oriented and of excellent crystalline quality with low mosaicity (X-ray rocking curve FWHM?0.09°). The surface roughness of thin films was also investigated by atomic force microscopy. The root-mean-square roughness varies between 0.9 nm for 50-nm-thick films to 16 nm for 100-nm-thick films. We also observe a correlation between grain size, surface roughness and film thickness.  相似文献

We present a high-average-power, pulsed mid-infrared pump-enhanced singly-resonant optical parametric oscillator (PE-SRO) using a fan-out periodically poled MgO-doped lithium niobate (MgO:PPLN). The pump laser is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with a repetition rate of 10 kHz. When the pump power was 22.0 W, a maximum idler output power of 3.4 W at 3781.4 nm was obtained. The thermal guiding effect caused by signal absorption was observed and the crystal heating power was measured with a new method.  相似文献

The InSb(0 0 1) surfaces chemically treated in HCl-isopropanol solution and annealed in vacuum were studied by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS). The HCl-isopropanol treatment removes indium and antimony oxides and leaves on the surface about 3 ML of physisorbed overlayer, containing indium chlorides and small amounts of antimony, which can be thermally desorbed at 230 °C. The residual carbon contaminations were around 0.2-0.4 ML and consisted of the hydrocarbon molecules. These hydrocarbon contaminations were removed from the surface together with the indium chlorides and antimony overlayer. With increased annealing temperature, a sequence of reconstructions were identified by LEED: (1 × 1), (1 × 3), (4 × 3), and (4 × 1)/c(8 × 2), in the order of decreasing Sb/In ratio. The structural properties of chemically prepared InSb(0 0 1) surface were found to be similar to those obtained by decapping of Sb-capped epitaxial layers.  相似文献

The growth of epitaxial GaN films on (0 0 0 1)-sapphire has been investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and low energy electron diffraction (LEED). In order to investigate the mechanism of the growth in detail, we have focused on the nitridation of pre-deposited Ga layers (droplets) using ion beam-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (IBA-MBE). Comparative analysis of XPS core-level spectra and LEED patterns reveals, that nitride films nucleate as epitaxial GaN islands. The wetting of the surface by GaN proceeds via reactive spreading of metallic Ga, supplied from the droplets. The discussed growth model confirms, that excess of metallic Ga is beneficial for GaN nucleation.  相似文献

Changes in surface characteristics of phenolphthalein poly(ether sulfone) (PES-C) film induced by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation were investigated. The surface properties of the pristine and irradiated films were studied by attenuated total-reflection FTIR (FTIR-ATR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), contact angle measurements and atomic force microscopy (AFM). It was found that photooxidation degradation took place on the sample surface after irradiation and the oxygen content in the surface increased as evidenced by FTIR-ATR and XPS results. The water contact angle of the irradiated films decreased with increasing irradiation time, which was ascribed to the increased polarity of the surface induced by photooxidation. The etching of ultraviolet irradiation induced the roughening of PES-C surface after irradiation with its root-mean-square roughness (RMS) determined by AFM increased from 2.097 nm before irradiation to 7.403 nm in the area of 25 μm × 25 μm.  相似文献
