In the present work, morphological, structural, thermal and magnetic properties of nanocrystalline Co50Ni50 alloy prepared by high energy planetary ball milling have been studied by means of scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry. The coercivity and the saturation magnetization of alloyed powders were measured at room temperature by a vibration sample magnetization. Morphological observations indicated a narrow distribution in the particle and homogeneous shape form with mean average particle size around 130 μm2. The results show that an allotropic Co transformation hcp→fcc occurs within the three first hours of milling and contrary to what expected, the Rietveld refinement method reveals the formation of two fcc solid solutions (SS): fcc Co(Ni) and Ni(Co) beside a small amount of the undissolved Co hcp. Thermal measurement, as a function of milling time was carried out to confirm the existence of the hcp phase and to estimate its amount. Magnetic measurement indicated that the 48 h milled powders with a steady state particles size have the highest saturation (105.3 emu/g) and the lowest coercivity (34.5 Oe).  相似文献

Self-assembled Sm-Co nanoparticles in the form of spherical aggregates (referred as nanospheres) with diameter ranging from 50 to 180 nm were achieved by means of polyol technique. The size distribution of the Sm-Co nanospheres can be regulated close to ∼100 nm by controlling the molar ratio of Sm:Co precursor. The spherical aggregates exhibited Sm2Co7 phase as a major constituent; while the aggregates obtained at higher Co concentration showed co-existence of Co-phase with Sm2Co7 phase. Upon annealing, the biphasic nature of nanospheres (Sm2Co7/Co) transformed into Sm2Co17 structure. By varying the Sm:Co precursor ratio from 1:5 to 1:9, the coercivity (Hc) and magnetization (Ms) values of the as-synthesized nanospheres can be tuned from 336 to 140 Oe and from 63.7 to 108 emu/g, respectively, and these values significantly improved after annealing. Maximum values of Hc (1050 Oe) at the Sm:Co molar ratio of 1:5 and Ms of 184.6 emu/g at the Sm:Co molar ratio of 1:9 were achieved in the annealed samples.  相似文献

Processes of high-energy ball milling of SmCo5 alloys were compared for three single-liquid environments without using additional surfactants. Both coarsely grained as-cast and nanocrystalline pre-milled SmCo5 precursors showed tendency toward formation of thin flakes if milled in polar liquids (acetone and ethanol) in a marked contrast to milling in non-polar heptane. CaF2 dielectric powder added prior to milling in the polar liquids tends to become attached on the flake surfaces. Milling in heptane in the presence of CaF2 produces flake-like SmCo5 particles which with increasing the milling time are found to incorporate an increasing amount of CaF2. The SmCo5—5 wt% CaF2 mixtures milled for the optimum time in both the polar and non-polar liquids were successfully hot-pressed into laminated composite magnets having intrinsic coercivity of 25–30 kOe, maximum energy product of approximately 6.5 MG Oe and electrical resistivity of 500–600 μΩ cm, which is more than 7 times the resistivity of conventional Sm–Co magnets.  相似文献

This study aims to evaluate magnetic and micro-structural properties of amorphous/nanocrystalline mechanically alloyed Ni58Fe12Zr20B10 powders with ball-milling time up to 190 h. Structural, micro-structural and thermal evaluations of the milled powders were carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) methods. Magnetic properties were also measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) instrument. Results showed that the amorphous phase reached maximum value of 95% and the crystallite size was about 3 nm at the end of the milling. Magnetization saturation (Ms) decreased slightly and coercivity (Hc) reached to the highest value at 72 h of the milling time. At the 190 h of milling, the coercivity and saturation magnetization reached 18 Oe and 20 emu/g, respectively. While, after an appropriate amount of heat treatment, these two variables became approximately 2 Oe and 32 emu/g.  相似文献

MnxBi100−x (x=48, 50, 55 and 60) alloys were prepared by the induction melting technique, and subjected to melt spinning and subsequent ball milling. XRD shows that the as-milled powders were mainly composed of LTP MnBi. Increasing melt spinning speed and reducing annealing treatment time can restrain the segregation of Mn from MnBi liquid during the peritectic reaction, which increases the LTP MnBi content. High energy ball milling results in the coercivity increase of MnBi powders. With increasing milling time, the coercivity increases initially and then decreases gradually. After ball milling for 4 h, the coercivity of the MnxBi100−x powders is 11.4 kOe for x=48 and 14.8 kOe for x=55. The optimal composition of Mn48Bi52 with more LTP has an M2.2 T of 49.98 emu/g and an Mr of 33.57 emu/g.  相似文献

Nanostructured Fe49Co49V2 powders were produced by high energy milling at different milling times and then examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The saturation magnetization and coercivity of samples were measured at room temperature by a vibration sample magnetometer (VSM). Structural studies show that as the milling time increases from 0 to 125 h, the average grain size reduces from 130 to about 8-10 nm, while the microstrain increases up to 1.7%. The lattice parameter decreases from 0 to 36 h and then increases up to 125 h. According to the XRD patterns, the formation of intermetallic compound of (Fe, Co)V after about 16 h affects the magnetic properties. The coercivity totally increases up to 61 Oe due to the introduction of microstrain during the milling process. Magnetic measurements reveal that the saturation magnetization has some fluctuations during the milling treatment and finally at 125 h reaches about 180 emu/g  相似文献

This paper investigates structural, microstructural and magnetic properties of amorphous/nanocrystalline Ni58Fe12Zr10Hf10B10 powders prepared by high energy milling. Ball milling of Ni, Fe, Zr, Hf and B leads to alloying of the element powders at 120 h. The results show that at 190 h the amorphous content is at the highest level and the grain size is about 2 nm. The magnetic measurements reveal that the coercivity and the saturation magnetization reach about 20 Oe and 30 emu/g at 190 h and become approximately 5 Oe and 40 emu/g after a suitable heat treatment, respectively.  相似文献

The Fe48Co48V4 alloy was synthesized in a planetary high-energy ball-mill under an argon atmosphere. The structure, microstructure and magnetic properties of the mechanically alloyed powders were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy and a Vibration Sample Magnetometer, respectively. During the mechanical alloying of Fe48Co48V4, inter-metallic Co3V appears. The lattice parameter decreases up to 55 h of milling time with an oscillation and then increases from 55 to 125 h of milling time. The coercivity increases during the milling treatment from 49 to 58 Oe. The saturation magnetization has some fluctuations during the milling treatment and finally reaches ∼190 emu/g at 125 h.  相似文献

FeSi10Cr10 powder was mechanically alloyed by high energy planetary ball milling, starting from elemental powders. The microstructural and magnetic properties of the milled powders were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry and a vibratory sample magnetometer. After 3 h of milling, the formation of two bcc solid solutions α-Fe1 (Si, Cr) and α-Fe2 (Si, Cr) is observed. Their grain sizes decrease with increase in milling time attaining, at 15 h of milling, 23 and 11 nm, respectively. Mössbauer spectra of the milled powder show the presence of two components. One is a ferromagnetic type with a broad sextuplet. Its distribution of hyperfine field is characterized by high and low hyperfine field’s peaks and a mean value of 26.5 T. The other is a single paramagnetic peak. Its low concentration increases to ∼4% at 15 h of milling. These results can be explained by different atomic environments affected by Si or/and Cr elements, as well as the increased disordered grain boundaries.Magnetic measurements of the milled FeSi10Cr10 alloy powder exhibit a soft ferromagnetic character with a decrease of both magnetization at saturation (Ms) and coercive force (Hc) with milling time attaining values of Ms=151 emu/g and Hc=2500 A/m at 30 h of milling time.  相似文献

The co-precipitation and solid state methods were used in the synthesis of barium hexaferrite (BaM). Phase pure BaM was obtained with 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 wt% cobalt oxide (Co3O4). The addition of Co2+/3+ ions to the BaM increased the permeability and magnetic loss tangent to a value of 3.5 at 5% and reduced to 1 at 30% doping. With increased Co doping, Ms was reduced from 87-58 emu/g, Mr increased from 11 to 40 emu/g with 3–5 wt% Co and 9 emu/g for 30% doping. Hc sharply increased from 540 to 2200 Oe with a reduction to 280 Oe at 10 K with increasing temperature to 300 K. Tc increased from 740 to 750 K for 30% Co doping. DTA–TGA studies of green body showed decarboxilation to occur at around 825 °C and the transformation of residual Co3O4 to Co2O3 at around 577 °C. The XRD data confirmed the Co ions substituting into Fe sites until a 10–15% doping level where the structure altered to W-type hexaferrite. The densities of the compounds varied with doping to a maximum of 4.45 g/cm3.  相似文献

Mechanical alloying has been used to produce nanocrystalline samples of Co2CrAl Heusler alloys. The samples were characterized by using different methods. The results indicate that, it is possible to produce L21-Co2CrAl powders after 15 h of ball-milling. The grain size of 15 h ball milled L21-Co2CrAl Heusler phase, calculated by analyzing the XRD peak broadening using Williamson and Hall approach was 14 nm. The estimated magnetic moment per formula unit is ∼2 μB. The obtained magnetic moment is significantly smaller than the theoretical value of 2.96 μB for L21 structure. It seems that an atomic disorder from the crystalline L21-type ordered state and two-phase separation depresses the ferromagnetic ordering in alloy. Also, the effect of annealing on the structural and magnetic properties of ball milled powders was investigated. Two structures were identified for annealed sample, namely L21 and B2. The obtained value for magnetic moment of annealed sample is smaller than the as-milled sample due to the presence of disordered B2 phase and improvement of phase separation.  相似文献

In boron-substituted melt-spun Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)7.5-type alloys a nanocomposite microstructure and high coercivities in both as-spun and short-time annealed ribbons can be obtained. In the present study three different compositions, namely Sm(Co0.73Fe0.1Cu0.09Zr0.04B0.04)7.5, Sm(Co0.70Fe0.1Cu0.12Zr0.04B0.04)7.5 and Sm(Co0.70Fe0.1Ni0.12Zr0.04B0.04)7.5 have been examined in order to investigate the influence of composition on the magnetic properties and the microstructure. Melt-spun ribbons have been obtained and annealing has been followed under argon atmosphere for 30–75 min at 600–870 °C. For the as-spun ribbons the TbCu7-type of structure and fcc-Co as a secondary phase have been identified in the X-ray diffraction patterns. For the annealed ribbons above 700 °C the 1:7 phase transforms into 2:17 and 1:5 phases. The TEM studies have shown a homogeneous nanocrystalline microstructure with average grain size of 30–80 nm. Coercivity values of 15–27 kOe have been obtained from hysteresis loops traced in non-saturating fields. The coercivity decreases with temperature, but it is sufficiently large to maintain values higher than 5 kOe at 380 °C.  相似文献

Benzenedicarboxylate complexes, especially phthalate ones, can be significant precursors for the preparation of nano-sized metal and metal oxides. The injection of organic surfactants such as oleic acid (OA) and triphenylphosphine into molecular precursors has yielded samples with size control, narrow size distributions and crystallinity of individual nanocrystals. Fourier transform infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the OA molecules were adsorbed on the ferromagnetic nanoparticles by chemisorption. The temperature-dependent magnetization curve in zero-field-cooled and field-cooled exhibit weak ferromagnetism of the Co3O4 nanoparticles. At 300 K the remanent magnetization is 0.02 emu/g, the coercive field is 441 Oe and the magnetization at saturation is 1.05 emu/g.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline PrCo5, SmCo5 and Sm2(Co,Fe,Mn)17 alloys were subjected to a high-degree plastic deformation at 950 °C with the height reduction ranging from 70% to 95%. With increasing degree of deformation, the PrCo5 and SmCo5 magnets showed improvement of the deformation-induced [0 0 1] texture. The PrCo5 alloys, known to develop a superior texture at the lower degrees of deformation, showed only modest improvement and their magnetic performance was undermined by a low coercivity. The SmCo5 alloys had their texture markedly enhanced and, after height reduction by 94.5%, they exhibited a remanence of 8.6 kG, maximum energy product of 18 MGOe and an intrinsic coercivity of 22.8 kOe. No induced texture was found in the alloys based on the Sm2Co17 structure. The microstructures of the hot-deformed alloys were studied with a transmission electron microscopy, and possible mechanisms of the texture development in the RCo5 alloys (R=Pr, Sm) are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Nanostructured Fe50Co50 powders were prepared by mechanical alloying of Fe and Co elements in a vario-planetary high-energy ball mill. The structural properties, morphology changes and local iron environment variations were investigated as a function of milling time (in the 0-200 h range) by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The complete formation of bcc Fe50Co50 solid solution is observed after 100 h milling. As the milling time increases from 0 to 200 h, the lattice parameter decreases from 0.28655 nm for pure Fe to 0.28523 nm, the grain size decreases from 150 to 14 nm, while the meal level of strain increases from 0.0069% to 1.36%. The powder particle morphology at different stages of formation was observed by SEM. The parameters derived from the Mössbauer spectra confirm the beginning of the formation of Fe50Co50 phase at 43 h of milling. After 200 h of milling the average hyperfine magnetic field of 35 T suggests that a disordered bcc Fe-Co solid solution is formed.  相似文献

The microstructure and compositions of the bulk nanocomposite SmCo/Fe permanent magnet were studied using transmission electron microscopy and 3-dimensional atom probe techniques. The excellent magnetic properties were related to the uniform nanocomposite structure with nanometer α-Fe particles uniformly distributed in the SmCo phase matrix. The α-Fe phase contained ∼26 at% Co, and the SmCo phase contained ∼19 at% Fe, confirming that the interdiffusion of Fe and Co atoms between the two phases occurred. The formation of the α-Fe(Co) phase explained why the saturation magnetization of the nanocomposite permanent magnet was higher than that expected from the original pure α-Fe and SmCo5 powders, which enhanced further the maximum energy product of the nanocomposite permanent magnet.  相似文献

This paper reports the synthesis of nanocrystalline powders of Co-doped ZnO (i.e. Zn0.9Co0.1O (ZCO)) diluted magnetic semiconductor by a simple method using acetate salts of Zn and Co, and polyvinyl pyrrolidone as precursors. The morphology and crystalline size of the synthesized powders were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The ZCO powders consist of both nanoparticles with particle sizes of ∼50–100 nm and nanorods with diameters of ∼100–200 and ∼200–500 nm in length. The X-ray diffraction and TEM results indicated that the synthesized ZCO powders had the pure wurtzite structure without any significant change in the structure affected by Co substitution. Optical absorption measurements showed absorption bands indicating the presence of Co ions in substitution of Zn ions. Room-temperature magnetization results revealed a paramagnetic behavior for the ZCO precursor (as grown sample) and a ferromagnetic behavior for the ZCO powders calcined in air at 873 K for 1 h.  相似文献

The crystal structure and magnetic properties of quaternary rare-earth intermetallic borides R3Co29Si4B10 with R=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd and Dy have been studied by X-ray powder diffraction and magnetization measurements. All compounds crystallize in a tetragonal crystal structure with the space group P4/nmm. Compounds with R=La, Ce, Pr, Nd and Sm are ferromagnets, while ferrimagnetic behavior is observed for R=Gd and Dy. The Curie temperatures vary between 149 K and 210 K. The Curie temperatures in R3Co29Si4B10 (R=Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy) compounds are roughly proportional to the de Gennes factors.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline octahedra of cobalt ferrite CoFe2O4 powders were synthesized using the organic acid precursor route. The effect of the calcination temperature, Fe3+/Co2+ molar ratio, calcination time and type of organic acid (oxalic, benzoic and tartaric acids) on the formation, crystallite size, microstructure and magnetic properties was studied systematically. The Fe3+/Co2+ molar ratio was varied from 2 to 1.739 while the annealing temperature was controlled from 400 to 1000 °C for various periods from 0.5 to 2 h. The resulting powders were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). XRD results indicate that a well crystallized, single spinel cobalt ferrite phase was formed for the precursors annealed at 600-800 °C for 2 h, using oxalic and tartaric acids as precursors for Fe3+/Co2+ molar ratio 1.818. The crystallite size of as-formed powders was in the range of 38.0-92.6 nm at different operating conditions. The calcination temperature and Fe3+/Co2+ molar ratio have a significant effect on the microstructure of the produced cobalt ferrite. The microstructure of the produced powders was found to be octahedra-shaped. The crystalline, pure cobalt ferrite powders with magnetic properties having a maximum saturation magnetization (76.1 emu/g) was achieved for the single phase at Fe3+/Co2+ molar ratio 1.818 and annealing temperature of 600 °C for 2 h using tartaric acid precursor.  相似文献

Evolution of structure and magnetocaloric properties in ball-milled Gd5Si2Ge2 and Gd5Si2Ge2/0.1 wt% Fe nanostructured powders were investigated. The high-energy ball-milled powders were composed of very fine grains (70–80 nm). Magnetization decreased with milling time due to decrease in the grain size and randomization of the magnetic moments at the surface. The magnetic entropy change (ΔSM) was calculated from the isothermal magnetization curves and a maximum value of 0.45 J/kg K was obtained for 32 h milled Gd5Si2Ge2 alloy powder for a magnetic field change of 2 T while it was still low in Fe-contained alloy powders. The thermo-magnetic measurements revealed that the milled powders display distribution of magnetic transitions, which is desirable for practical magnetic refrigerant to cover a wide temperature span.  相似文献
