The up-conversion luminescence of the ZBLAN fluoride glass Er(0.5):ZBLAN, when excited by a 1520 nm semiconductor laser, is studied in this paper. The absorption and common-fluorescence spectra are also measured in order to understand the up-conversion clearly. It is found that there are seven strong up-conversion luminescence lines (406.97^m, 410.42 nm), (521.97^m, 527.56 nm), (542.38^m, 549.27 nm), (654.27^m, 665.70 nm), 801.57^m nm, 819.46 nm, and 840.00 nm, which can be recognized as the fluorescence transitions of ({}^2G^4F^2H)_{9/2}→{}^4I_{15/2},{}^2H_{11/2}→ {}^4I_{15/2},{}^4S_{3/2}→{}^4I_{15/2},{}^4F_{9/2}→{}^4I_{15/2}, {}^4I_{9/2}→ {}^4I_{15/2}, ({}^2G^4F^2H)_{9/2}→{}^4I_{9/2}, and {}^4S_{3/2}→{}^4I_{13/2} respectively. Meanwhile, the small up-conversion fluorescence lines 379.20 nm, 453.10 nm and 490.60 nm are the transitions of {}^4G_{11/2}→{}^4I_{15/2},{}^4F_{5/2}→{}^4I_{15/2} and {}^4F_{7/2}→ {}^4I_{15/2} respectively. It is interesting that the slopes of log F-logP curves, the double-logarithmic variation of up-conversion luminescence intensity F with laser power P, are different from each other for these observed up-conversion luminescence, this being valuable for the volumetric display. Comprehensive discussions find that the {}^4G_{11/2}→{}^4I_{15/2}, (^2G^4F^2H)_{9/2}→{}^4I_{15/2}, (^2H_{11/2}→{}^4I_{15/2},{}^4S_{3/2}→{}^4I_{15/2},{}^4F_{9/2}→ {}^4I_{15/2}), and {}^4I_{9/2}→{}^4I_{15/2} up-conversion luminescences are five-photon, four-photon, three-photon, and two-photon up-conversion luminescences respectively. It is found also that the absorption from ground-state {}^4I_{15/2} level to {}^4I_{13/2} level is very large, which is beneficial to the sequential energy transfer up-conversion to occur.  相似文献

The tetragonal crystal of yttrium orthovanadate, YV04, has become the most important host material for the neodymium (Nd) ion, and Nd:YV04 has found wide applications in compact diode pumped solid- state lasers generating low-to-mediate powers. Due to their similarity in chemical properties as well as in electronic configurations, other trivalent lanthanide rare-earth ions can also be incorporated into the crys- tal of YV04, occupying the lattice sites for the Y ions. As a result, VV04 crystal can also serve as the host medium for other rare-earth laser ions including Yb, Er, Tm, and Ho.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a diode-pumped passively mode-locked femtosecond laser with Yb 3+ -doped yttrium lanthanum oxide ceramic. Mode-locking is achieved by using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror, and intracavity dispersion is compensated by a pair of SF6 prisms. Laser pulses as short as 357 fs at a central wavelength of 1 075 nm are obtained. The maximum average output power is 670 mW under 4.5 W of pumping power with a slope efficiency of 20%. To the best of our knowledge, this is the shortest pulse generated from Yb-doped yttrium lanthanum oxide ceramic lasers with a sub-500 fs pulse duration.  相似文献

Yb:GdYAl3 (B03)4 (Yb:GdYAB) is investigated as a new laser crystal for potential applications in self-frequency doubling. The emission and absorption properties of Yb:GdYAB crystal are studied, and the emission decay times of the upper laser level are measured. The emission cross sections are evaluated using the absorption cross section and principle of reciprocity. The other laser performance parameters, such as the minimum inversion fraction βmin, pump saturation intensity Isat and minimum pump intensity 1rain, are also calculated. The results are discussed in the framework of requirements for an effective diode-pumped Yb^3+ laser system. Yb:GdYAB is expected to exhibit the most useful laser properties and to be superior to Yb:YAB crystal that has been excellent self-frequency-doubling crystal at present in many key spectroscopic parameter values.  相似文献

Introducing a theoretical method to treat time-dependent wave-packet dynamics for atom collisions, we calculate the cross sections of proton impact excitation (2s - 2p) with a Li atom by directly numerically integrating the time-dependent Schrodinger equation on a three-dimensional Cartesian mesh. Our calculated results are in good agreement with the available experimental measurements.  相似文献

We experimentally investigated the VUV excitation luminescence properties of Ca4 GdO(B03)3 :RE (RE=Eu^3 , Tb^3 )Ca4GdO(BO3)3:Eu3 and Ca4GdO(BO3)3:Tb^3 emitted bright red and green colour light, respectively, under 172 nm excitation, resulting from the favorable position of the host absorption band (186 nm) and efficient energy transfer from Gd^3 to activators (e.g. Eu^3 or Tb^3 ) by means of secondary absorption in the Ca4GdO(BO3)3 matrix. The f-d transitions of Eu^3 and Tb^3 in the host lattice are depicted.  相似文献
