This article is a contribution to the study of block-transitive automorphism groups of 2-(v,k,1) block designs. Let D be a 2-(v,k,1) design admitting a block-transitive, pointprimitive but not flag-transitive automorphism group G. Let kr = (k,v-1) and q = pf for prime p. In this paper we prove that if G and D are as above and q (3(krk-kr + 1)f)1/3, then G does not admit a simple group E6(q) as its socle.  相似文献

OD-characterization of Almost Simple Groups Related to U3(5)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let G be a finite group with order |G|=p1^α1p2^α2……pk^αk, where p1 〈 p2 〈……〈 Pk are prime numbers. One of the well-known simple graphs associated with G is the prime graph (or Gruenberg- Kegel graph) denoted .by г(G) (or GK(G)). This graph is constructed as follows: The vertex set of it is π(G) = {p1,p2,…,pk} and two vertices pi, pj with i≠j are adjacent by an edge (and we write pi - pj) if and only if G contains an element of order pipj. The degree deg(pi) of a vertex pj ∈π(G) is the number of edges incident on pi. We define D(G) := (deg(p1), deg(p2),..., deg(pk)), which is called the degree pattern of G. A group G is called k-fold OD-characterizable if there exist exactly k non- isomorphic groups H such that |H| = |G| and D(H) = D(G). Moreover, a 1-fold OD-characterizable group is simply called OD-characterizable. Let L := U3(5) be the projective special unitary group. In this paper, we classify groups with the same order and degree pattern as an almost simple group related to L. In fact, we obtain that L and L.2 are OD-characterizable; L.3 is 3-fold OD-characterizable; L.S3 is 6-fold OD-characterizable.  相似文献

A decomposition of K_(n(g))∪Γ, the complete n-partite equipartite graph over gn vertices union a graph Γ(called the excess) that is a subgraph of K_(n(g)), into edge disjoint copies of a graph G is called a simple minimum group divisible covering of type g~n with G if Γ contains as few edges as possible. We examine all possible excesses for simple minimum group divisible(K_4-e)-coverings.Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for their existence.  相似文献

A Latin squares of order v with ni missing sub-Latin squares (holes) of order hi (1 〈= i 〈 k), which are disjoint and spanning (i.e. ∑k i=l1 nihi = v), is called a partitioned incomplete Latin squares and denoted by PILS. The type of PILS is defined by (h1n1 h2n2…hknk ). If any two PILS inaset of t PILS of type T are orthogonal, then we denote the set by t-HMOLS(T). It has been proved that 3-HMOLS(2n31) exist for n ≥6 with 11 possible exceptions. In this paper, we investigate the existence of 3-HMOLS(2nu1) with u ≥ 4, and prove that 3-HMOLS(2~u1) exist if n ≥ 54 and n ≥7/4u + 7.  相似文献

Inclines are the additively idempotent semirings in which products are less than or equal to either factor. In this paper, some necessary and sufficient conditions for a matrix over L to be invertible are given, where L is an incline with 0 and 1. Also it is proved that L is an integral incline if and only if GLn(L) = PLn (L) for any n (n 〉 2), in which GLn(L) is the group of all n × n invertible matrices over L and PLn(L) is the group of all n × n permutation matrices over L. These results should be regarded as the generalizations and developments of the previous results on the invertible matrices over a distributive lattice.  相似文献

In this paper, groups of order pn in which the number of subgroups of possible order is less than or equal to p3 are classified. It turns out that if p 2, n ≥ 5, then the classification of groups of order pn in which the number of subgroups of possible order is less than or equal to p3 and the classification of groups of order pn with a cyclic subgroup of index p2 are the same.  相似文献

OD-CHARACTERIZATION OF ALMOST SIMPLE GROUPS RELATED TO U6(2)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let G be a finite group and π(G) = { p 1 , p 2 , ··· , p k } be the set of the primes dividing the order of G. We define its prime graph Γ(G) as follows. The vertex set of this graph is π(G), and two distinct vertices p, q are joined by an edge if and only if pq ∈π e (G). In this case, we write p ~ q. For p ∈π(G), put deg(p) := |{ q ∈π(G) | p ~ q }| , which is called the degree of p. We also define D(G) := (deg(p 1 ), deg(p 2 ), ··· , deg(p k )), where p 1 < p 2 < ··· < p k , which is called the degree pattern of G. We say a group G is k-fold OD-characterizable if there exist exactly k non-isomorphic finite groups with the same order and degree pattern as G. Specially, a 1-fold OD-characterizable group is simply called an OD-characterizable group. Let L := U 6 (2). In this article, we classify all finite groups with the same order and degree pattern as an almost simple groups related to L. In fact, we prove that L and L.2 are OD-characterizable, L.3 is 3-fold OD-characterizable, and L.S 3 is 5-fold OD-characterizable.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the existence of incomplete group divisible designs (IGDDs) with block size four, group-type (g, h) u and general index λ. The necessary conditions for the existence of such a design are that u ≥ 4, g ≥ 3h, λg(u 1) ≡ 0 (mod 3), λ(g h)(u 1) ≡ 0 (mod 3), and λu(u 1)(g 2 h 2 ) ≡ 0 (mod 12). These necessary conditions are shown to be sufficient for all λ≥ 2. The known existence result for λ = 1 is also improved.  相似文献

A 2 - (v,k,1) design D = (P, B) is a system consisting of a finite set P of v points and a collection B of k-subsets of P, called blocks, such that each 2-subset of P is contained in precisely one block. Let G be an automorphism group of a 2- (v,k,1) design. Delandtsheer proved that if G is block-primitive and D is not a projective plane, then G is almost simple, that is, T ≤ G ≤ Aut(T), where T is a non-abelian simple group. In this paper, we prove that T is not isomorphic to 3D4(q). This paper is part of a project to classify groups and designs where the group acts primitively on the blocks of the design.  相似文献

A *-ring is called *-clean if every element of the ring can be written as the sum of a projection and a unit. For an integer n ≥ 1, we call a *-ring R n-*-clean if for any a ∈ R,a = p + u1 + ··· + unwhere p is a projection and ui are units for all i. Basic properties of n-*-clean rings are considered, and a number of illustrative examples of 2-*-clean rings which are not *-clean are provided. In addition, extension properties of n-*-clean rings are discussed.  相似文献

We determine a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of semicyclic holey group divisible designs with block size three and group type ( n , m t ) . New recursive constructions on semicyclic incomplete holey group divisible designs are introduced to settle this problem completely.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of finding the design efficiency is considered when a single observation is unavailable in a connected binary block design. The explicit expression of efficiency is found for the resulting design when the original design is a balanced incomplete block design or a group divisible, singular or semiregular or regular with 1>0, design. The efficiency does not depend on the position of the unavailable observation. For a regular group divisible design with 1>0, the efficiency depends on the position of the unavailable observation. The bounds, both lower and upper, on the efficiency are given in this situation. The efficiencies of designs resulting from a balanced incomplete block design and a group divisible design are in fact high when a single observation is unavailable.The work of the first author is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under Grant AFOSR-90-0092.On leave from Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta, India. Some constructions of balanced arrays of strength two are provided by use of rectangular designs, group divisible designs, and nested balanced incomplete block designs. Some series of such arrays are also presented as well as orthogonal arrays, with illustrations. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper we give constructions of self-orthogonal and self-dual codes, with respect to certain scalar products, with the help of orbit matrices of block designs and quotient matrices of symmetric (group) divisible designs (SGDDs) with the dual property. First we describe constructions from block designs and their extended orbit matrices, where the orbit matrices are induced by the action of an automorphism group of the design. Further, we give some further constructions of self-dual codes from symmetric block designs and their orbit matrices. Moreover, in a similar way as for symmetric designs, we give constructions of self-dual codes from SGDDs with the dual property and their quotient matrices.  相似文献

A resolvable modified group divisible design (RMGDD) is an MGDD whose blocks can be partitioned into parallel classes. In this article, we investigate the existence of RMGDDs with block size three and show that the necessary conditions are also sufficient with two exceptions. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary In this paper we consider experimental situations in which ν treatments are to be tested inb blocks whereb i blocks containk i experimental units,i=1,...,p, k 1<k 2<...<k p . The idea of a group divisible (GD) design is extended to that of a group divisible design with unequal block sizes (GDUB design) and then a number of results concerning the E- and MV-optimality of GD designs are generalized to the case of GDUB designs.  相似文献

In this article, we first show that a group divisible 3‐design with block sizes from {4, 6}, index unity and group‐type 2m exists for every integer m≥ 4 with the exception of m = 5. Such group divisible 3‐designs play an important role in our subsequent complete solution to the existence problem for directed H‐designs DHλ(m, r, 4, 3)s. We also consider a way to construct optimal codes capable of correcting one deletion or insertion using the directed H‐designs. In this way, the optimal single‐deletion/insertion‐correcting codes of length 4 can be constructed for all even alphabet sizes. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A construction is given for a (p2a(p+1),p2,p2a+1(p+1),p2a+1,p2a(p+1)) (p a prime) divisible difference set in the group H×Z2pa+1 where H is any abelian group of order p+1. This can be used to generate a symmetric semi-regular divisible design; this is a new set of parameters for λ1≠0, and those are fairly rare. We also give a construction for a (pa−1+pa−2+…+p+2,pa+2, pa(pa+pa−1+…+p+1), pa(pa−1+…+p+1), pa−1(pa+…+p2+2)) divisible difference set in the group H×Zp2×Zap. This is another new set of parameters, and it corresponds to a symmetric regular divisible design. For p=2, these parameters have λ12, and this corresponds to the parameters for the ordinary Menon difference sets.  相似文献

In 2003 Harada and Tonchev showed a construction of self-orthogonal codes from orbit matrices of block designs with fixed-point-free automorphisms. We describe a construction of self-orthogonal codes from orbit matrices of 2-designs admitting certain automorphisms with fixed points (and blocks). Further, we present a construction of self-orthogonal codes from quotient matrices of divisible designs and divisible design graphs.  相似文献

The study of optical orthogonal codes has been motivated by an application in an optical code‐division multiple access system. From a practical point of view, compared to one‐dimensional optical orthogonal codes, two‐dimensional optical orthogonal codes tend to require smaller code length. On the other hand, in some circumstances only with good cross‐correlation one can deal with both synchronization and user identification. These motivate the study of two‐dimensional optical orthogonal codes with better cross‐correlation than auto‐correlation. This paper focuses on optimal two‐dimensional optical orthogonal codes with the auto‐correlation and the best cross‐correlation 1. By examining the structures of w‐cyclic group divisible designs and semi‐cyclic incomplete holey group divisible designs, we present new combinatorial constructions for two‐dimensional ‐optical orthogonal codes. When and , the exact number of codewords of an optimal two‐dimensional ‐optical orthogonal code is determined for any positive integers n and .  相似文献
