Ab initio molecular orbital and hybrid density functional methods have been employed to characterize the structure and bonding of (H2O-H2S)+, an asymmetrical dimer radical cation system. A comparison has been made between the two-center three-electron (2c-3e) hemi-bonded system and the proton-transferred hydrogen-bonded systems of (H2O-H2S)+. Geometry optimization of these systems was carried out using unrestricted Hartree Fock (HF), density functional theory with different functionals, and second-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation (MP2) methods with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. Hessian calculations have been done at the same level to check the nature of the equilibrium geometry. Energy data were further improved by calculating basis set superposition error for the structures optimized through MP2/6-311++G(d,p) calculations. The calculated results show that the dimer radical cation structure with H2O as proton acceptor is more stable than those structures in which H2O acts as a proton donor or the 2c-3e hemi-bonded (H2O thereforeSH2)+ system. This stability trend has been further confirmed by more accurate G3, G3B3, and CCSD(T) methods. On the basis of the present calculated results, the structure of H4OS+ can best be described as a hydrogen-bonded complex of H3O+ and SH with H2O as a proton acceptor. It is in contrast to the structure of neutral (H2O...H2S) dimer where H2O acts as a proton donor. The present work has been able to resolve the ambiguity in the nature of bonding between H2O and H2S in (H2O-H2S)+ asymmetrical dimer radical cation.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations at MP2/6-311++G(2d,2p) and MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) computational levels have been used to analyze the interactions between nitrous oxide and a series of small and large molecules that act simultaneously as hydrogen bond donors and electron donors. The basis set superposition error (BSSE) and zero point energy (ZPE) corrected binding energies of small N2O complexes (H2O, NH3, HOOH, HOO*, HONH2, HCO2H, H2CO, HCONH2, H2CNH, HC(NH)NH2, SH2, H2CS, HCSOH, HCSNH2) vary between -0.93 and -2.90 kcal/mol at MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) level, and for eight large complexes of N2O they vary between -2.98 and -3.37 kcal/mol at the MP2/6-311++G(2d,2p) level. The most strongly bound among small N2O complexes (HCSNH2-N2O) contains a NH..N bond, along with S-->N interactions, and the most unstable (H2S-N2O) contains just S-->N interactions. The electron density properties have been analyzed within the atoms in molecules (AIM) methodology. Results of the present study open a window into the nature of the interactions between N2O with other molecular moieties and open the possibility to design N2O abiotic receptors.  相似文献

A systematic study of basis set superposition error (BSSE) behavior in H(3)C-H[ellipsis (horizontal)][NO] complexes for both -H...N- and -H...O- orientations were carried out using MP2 and density-functional theory with Pople's [6-31G(d,p),6-311++G(nd,nd), where n=1,2,3, and 6-311++G(3df,3pd)] and Dunning's augmented correlation consistent basis sets [aug-cc-pVXZ (X=D and T)]. Corrected and uncorrected counterpoise potential-energy surfaces (PESs) were explored and differences obtained between them indicate that reliable optimizations of these molecular interactions must be carried out in a PES free of BSSE, even in the case of large basis sets and popularly used functionals such as B3LYP. Although all basis used could be always considered within a margin of approximation for representing molecular orbitals and show important values of BSSE, 6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set shows the best results in uncorrected PES with respect to the corrected ones. B3LYP functional produces erratic results: complexes appear repulsive and the intermolecular distances are always large, evidencing the lack of a correct dispersive forces treatment in the original parameterization. According to the MP2 results, the -H...N- interactions appear as slightly more stable than those of the -H...O- orientation.  相似文献

The potential energy surface (PES) for the HOBr.H(2)O complex has been investigated using second- and fourth-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2, MP4) and coupled cluster theory with single and doubles excitations (CCSD), and a perturbative approximation of triple excitations (CCSD-T), correlated ab initio levels of theory employing basis sets of triple zeta quality with polarization and diffuse functions up to the 6-311++G(3dp,3df ) standard Pople's basis set. Six stationary points being three minima, two first-order transition state (TS) structures and one second-order TS were located on the PES. The global minimum syn and the anti equilibrium structure are virtually degenerated [DeltaE(ele-nuc) approximately 0.3 kcal mol(-1), CCSD-T/6-311++G(3df,3pd) value], with the third minima being approximately 4 kcal mol(-1) away. IRC analysis was performed to confirm the correct connectivity of the two first-order TS structures. The CCSD-T/6-311++G(3df,3pd)//MP2/6-311G(d,p) barrier for the syn<-->anti interconversion is 0.3 kcal mol(-1), indicating that a mixture of the syn and anti forms of the HOBr.H(2)O complex is likely to exist.  相似文献

The title unknown reaction is theoretically studied at various levels to probe the interaction mechanism between the ethynyl radical (HC triple bond C) and formaldehyde (H(2)C double bond O). The most feasible pathway is a barrier-free direct H-abstraction process leading to acetylene and formyl radical (C(2)H(2)+HCO) via a weakly bound complex, and then the product can take secondary dissociation to the final product C(2)H(2)+CO+H. The C-addition channel leading to propynal plus H-atom (HCCCHO+H) has the barrier of only 3.6, 2.9, and 2.1 kcal/mol at the CCSD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)MP2//6-311G(d,p)+ZPVE, CCSD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//QCISD/6-311G(d,p)+ZPVE, and G3//MP2 levels, respectively [CCSD(T)--coupled cluster with single, double, and triple excitations; ZPVE--zero-point vibrational energy; QCISD--quadratic configuration interaction with single and double excitations; G3//MP2-Gaussian-3 based on Moller-Plesset geometry]. The O addition also leading to propynal plus H atom needs to overcome a higher barrier of 5.3, 8.7, and 3.0 kcalmol at the three corresponding levels. The title no-barrier reaction presents a new efficient route to remove the pollutant H(2)CO, and should be included in the combustion models of hydrocarbons. It may also represent the fastest radical-H(2)CO reaction among the available theoretical data. Moreover, it could play an important role in the interstellar chemistry where the zero- or minute-barrier reactions are generally favored. Discussions are also made on the possible formation of the intriguing propynal in space via the title reaction on ice surface.  相似文献

The structure and growth trend of the protonated acetophenone-water clusters have been investigated using the DFT-B3LYP method combined with the standard 6-31+G(d,p) basis set. In order to obtain more accurate single-point energy the B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,2p) method was adapted. The results show that the formation of H+C8H8O-H2O is a barrierless reaction process and the equilibrium distance between the proton and the O atom in C8H8O molecule is 1.015 A. For H+C8H8O-(H2O)n(n=1,2,3) clusters, the proton lies between the acetophenone molecule C8H8O and the water molecule H2O. The distance between the proton and the O atom of the C8H8O molecule increased from n=1 to n=3; C8H8O-H+-H2O can be regarded as an solvation shell. For H+C8H8O (H2O)n (n=4,5,6,7,8) clusters, the proton lies between the two H2O molecules forming a H5O2+ structure, C8H8O-H5O2+ is an important structure, which the other H2O molecules will attack from different sides.  相似文献

The (19)F NMR shieldings for 53 kinds of perfluoro compounds were calculated by the B3LYP-GIAO method using the 6-31G(d), 6-31+G(d), 6-31G(d,p), 6-31++G(d,p), 6-311G(d,p), 6-311++G(d,p), 6-311G(2d,2p), 6-311++G(2d,2p), 6-311++G(2df,2p), 6-311++G(3d,2p), and 6-311++G(3df,2p) basis sets. The diffuse functions markedly reduce the difference between the calculated and experimental chemical shifts. The calculations using the 6-31++G(d,p) basis set give the chemical shifts within 10 ppm deviations from experimental values except for the fluorine nuclei attached to an oxygen atom, a four- and a six-coordinated sulfur atom, and FC(CF(3))(2) attached to a sulfur atom.  相似文献

The rate constants of the reactions of HOI molecules with H, OH, O ((3)P), and I ((2)P(3/2)) atoms have been estimated over the temperature range 300-2500 K using four different levels of theory. Geometry optimizations and vibrational frequency calculations are performed using MP2 methods combined with two basis sets (cc-pVTZ and 6-311G(d,p)). Single-point energy calculations are performed with the highly correlated ab initio coupled cluster method in the space of single, double, and triple (pertubatively) electron excitations CCSD(T) using the cc-pVTZ, cc-pVQZ, 6-311+G(3df,2p), and 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis sets. Reaction enthalpies at 0 K were calculated at the CCSD(T)/cc-pVnZ//MP2/cc-pVTZ (n = T and Q), CCSD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//MP2/6-311G(d,p), and CCSD(T)/6-311++G(3df,3pd)//MP2/6-311G(d,p) levels of theory and compared to the experimental values taken from the literature. Canonical transition-state theory with an Eckart tunneling correction is used to predict the rate constants as a function of temperature. The computational procedure has been used to predict rate constants for H-abstraction elementary reactions because there are actually no literature data to which the calculated rate constants can be directly compared. The final objective is to implement kinetics of gaseous reactions in the ASTEC (accident source term evaluation code) program to improve speciation of fission products, which can be transported along the reactor coolant system (RCS) of a pressurized water reactor (PWR) in the case of a severe accident.  相似文献

In spite of the potential importance of the HCS radical in both combustion and interstellar processes, its chemical reactivity has not been tackled previously. In the present paper, the oxidation reaction of the HCS radical is theoretically investigated for the first time at the CCSD(T)/6-311++G(3df,2p)//BH&HLYP/6-311++G(d,p)+ZPVE and Gaussian-3//B3LYP/6-31G(d) levels. It is shown that the most feasible pathway is the O2 addition to the HCS radical forming the intermediate SC(H)OO which can undergo a subsequent O-extrusion leading to SC(H)O + 3O. This features an indirect O-transfer mechanism with the overall barrier of 4.4 and 3.5 kcal mol(-1), respectively, at the two levels. However, formation of the H-transfer product CS + HO2 is kinetically much less feasible, i.e., the direct mechanism has barriers of 14.3 and 8.7 kcal mol(-1), whereas the indirect mechanism has barriers of 12.6 and 10.7 kcal mol(-1), respectively. This result is in sharp contrast to the analogous HCO + O2 reaction, where the direct (with a barrier of 2.98 kcal mol(-1)) and indirect (2.26 kcal mol(-1)) H-transfer processes are highly competitive over the indirect O-transfer process (the least endothermicity is 19.9 kcal mol(-1)). The possible explanations and implications of the present results are provided.  相似文献

Potential-energy surface of the CH3CO + O2 reaction has been calculated by ab initio quantum chemistry methods. The geometries were optimized using the second-order Moller-Plesset theory (MP2) with the 6-311G(d,p) basis set and the coupled-cluster theory with single and double excitations (CCSD) with the correlation consistent polarized valence double zeta (cc-pVDZ) basis set. The relative energies were calculated using the Gaussian-3 second-order Moller-Plesset theory with the CCSD/cc-pVDZ geometries. Multireference self-consistent-field and MP2 methods were also employed using the 6-311G(d,p) and 6-311++G(3df,2p) basis sets. Both addition/elimination and direct abstraction mechanisms have been investigated. It was revealed that acetylperoxy radical [CH3C(O)OO] is the initial adduct and the formation of OH and alpha-lactone [CH2CO2(1A')] is the only energetically accessible decomposition channel. The other channels, e.g., abstraction, HO2 + CH2CO, O + CH3CO2, CO + CH3O2, and CO2 + CH3O, are negligible. Multichannel Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus theory and transition state theory (E-resolved) were employed to calculate the overall and individual rate coefficients and the temperature and pressure dependences. Fairly good agreement between theory and experiments has been obtained without any adjustable parameters. It was concluded that at pressures below 3 Torr, OH and CH2CO2(1A') are the major nascent products of the oxidation of acetyl radicals, although CH2CO2(1A') might either undergo unimolecular decomposition to form the final products of CH2O + CO or react with OH and Cl to generate H2O and HCl. The acetylperoxy radicals formed by collisional stabilization are the major products at the elevated pressures. In atmosphere, the yield of acetylperoxy is nearly unity and the contribution of OH is only marginal.  相似文献

The CH3S* + O2 reaction system is considered an important process in atmospheric chemistry and in combustion as a pathway for the exothermic conversion of methane-thiyl radical, CH3S*. Several density functional and ab initio computational methods are used in this study to determine thermochemical parameters, reaction paths, and kinetic barriers in the CH3S* + O2 reaction system. The data are also used to evaluate feasibility of the DFT methods for higher molecular weight oxy-sulfur hydrocarbons, where sulfur presents added complexity from its many valence states. The methods include: B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p), B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,2p), CCSD(T)/6-311G(d,p)//MP2/6-31G(d,p), B3P86/6-311G(2d,2p)//B3P86/6-31G(d), B3PW91/6-311++G(3df,2p), G3MP2, and CBS-QB3. The well depth for the CH3S* + 3O2 reaction to the syn-CH3SOO* adduct is found to be 9.7 kcal/mol. Low barrier exit channels from the syn-CH3SOO* adduct include: CH2S + HO2, (TS6, E(a) is 12.5 kcal/mol), CH3 + SO2 via CH3SO2 (TS2', E(a) is 17.8) and CH3SO + O (TS17, E(a) is 24.7) where the activation energy is relative to the syn-CH3SOO* stabilized adduct. The transition state (TS5) for formation of the CH3SOO adduct from CH3S* + O2 and the reverse dissociation of CH3SOO to CH3S* + O2 is relatively tight compared to typical association and simple bond dissociation reactions; this is a result of the very weak interaction. Reverse reaction is the dominant dissociation path due to enthalpy and entropy considerations. The rate constants from the chemical activation reaction and from the stabilized adduct to these products are estimated as functions of temperature and pressure. Our forward rate constant and CH3S loss profile are in agreement with the experiments under similar conditions. Of the methods above, the G3MP2 and CBS-QB3 composite methods are recommended for thermochemical determinations on these carbon-sulfur-oxygen systems, when they are feasible.  相似文献

Ab initio MO calculations have been carried out for the ozone-water 1:1 complexes in order to elucidate the structures and electronic state of the complexes. The QCISD calculations indicated that three structures are obtained as stable forms of O(3)-H(2)O. The most stable structure of O(3)-H(2)O has C(s) symmetry where the central oxygen of O(3) and all atoms of H(2)O are located on the molecular C(s) plane. The dipole of H(2)O orients toward the central oxygen atom of O(3) (i.e., dipole orientation form). The other two forms are cis and trans forms of O(3)-H(2)O where all atoms are located on the molecular plane, and a hydrogen of H(2)O binds to one of the terminal oxygen atoms of O(3) by a hydrogen bond. The binding energies of O(3) to H(2)O for dipole, cis, and trans forms are calculated to be 2.39, 2.27, and 2.30 kcal/mol, respectively, at the QCISD(T)/6-311++G(3df,3pd)//QCISD/6-311++G((d,p) level. The dipole orientation form is more stable in energy than the cis and trans forms. Rotational constants for the dipole orientation form are calculated to be A = 11.897, B = 4.177, and C = 3.318 GHz which are in good agreement with the experimental values (A = 11.961, B = 4.174, and C = 3.265 GHz). The electronic states of O(3)-H(2)O were discussed on the basis of theoretical results.  相似文献

A direct dynamics method is employed to study the hydrogen abstraction reaction of CH3CH2F+Cl. Three distinct transition states are located, one for -H abstraction and two for β-H abstraction. The potential energy surface (PES) information is obtained at the QCISD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//MP2/6-311G(d,p), CCSD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//MP2/6-311G(d,p) and G2//MP2/6-311G(d,p) level. Based on the QCISD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//MP2/6-311G(d,p) results, the rate constants of the three reaction channels are evaluated by using the canonical variational transition state theory (CVT) with small-curvature tunneling (SCT) contributions over the temperature range of 220–2800 K. The calculated results indicate that -H abstraction dominates the total reaction almost over the whole temperature range.  相似文献

基于MP2/6-311+G(d)水平, 分别对过渡金属Ti和碱金属Na与O2的反应机理进行了研究. 比较了Ti和Na分别以垂直O—O键和沿着O—O键的方向逼近O2, 以及中性体系Ti/Na+O2和带1个负电荷的体系(Ti/Na+O2)-的情况. 详细分析了不同反应路径的结合能和电荷变化的曲线, 预测了最佳反应方式. 结果表明, 垂直接近方式要比水平接近方式更具有优势; 体系带一个负电荷(Ti/Na+O2)-有利于金属与O2的结合. 同时, 计算结果表明在Ti+O2和(Ti+O2)-体系中Ti容易与单态的O2结合; 在中性体系中Na也容易与单态O2结合, 而在(Na+O2)-体系中Na与三态O2的结合更稳定. 在CCSD(T)/6-311++G(3df)//MP2/6-311+G(d)水平下, 计算了Ti+O2和(Ti+O2)-的反应势能面.  相似文献

The potential energy surface, including the geometries and frequencies of the stationary points, of the reaction HFCO + OH is calculated using the MP2 method with 6-31+G(d,p) basis set, which shows that the direct hydrogen abstraction route is the most dominating channel with respect to addition and substitution channels. For the hydrogen abstraction reaction, the single-point energies are refined at the QCISD(T) method with 6-311++G(2df,2pd) basis set. The calculated standard reaction enthalpy and barrier height are -17.1 and 4.9 kcal mol(-1), respectively, at the QCISD(T)/6-311++G(2df,2pd)//MP2/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory. The reaction rate constants within 250-2500 K are calculated by the improved canonical variational transition state theory (ICVT) with small-curvature tunneling (SCT) correction at the QCISD(T)/6-311++G(2df,2pd)//MP2/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory. The fitted three-parameter formula is k = 2.875 x 10(-13) (T/1000)1.85 exp(-325.0/T) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1). The results indicate that the calculated ICVT/SCT rate constant is in agreement with the experimental data, and the tunneling effect in the lower temperature range plays an important role in computing the reaction rate constants.  相似文献

A dual-level direct dynamics study has been carried out for the two hydrogen abstraction reactions CF(3)CHCl(2)+Cl and CF(3)CHFCl+Cl. The geometries and frequencies of the stationary points are optimized at the BHLYP/6-311G(d,p), B3LYP/6-311G(d,p), and MP2/6-31G(d) levels, respectively, with single-point calculations for energy at the BHLYP/6-311++G(3df,2p), G3(MP2), and QCISD(T)/6-311G(d,p) levels. The enthalpies of formation for the species CF(3)CHCl(2), CF(3)CHFCl, CF(3)CCl(2), and CF(3)CFCl are evaluated at higher levels. With the information of the potential energy surface at BHLYP/6-311++G(3df,2p)//6-311G(d,p) level, we employ canonical variational transition-state theory with small-curvature tunneling correction to calculate the rate constants. The agreement between theoretical and experimental rate constants is good in the measured temperature range 276-382 K. The effect of fluorine substitution on reactivity of the C-H bond is discussed.  相似文献

The rate constants of the H‐abstraction reactions from cyclopropane by H, O (3P), Cl (2P3/2), and OH radicals have been calculated over the temperature range of 250?2500 K using two different levels of theory. Calculations of optimized geometrical parameters and vibrational frequencies are performed using the MP2 method combined with the cc‐pVTZ basis set and the 6–311++G(d,p) basis set. Single‐point energy calculations have been carried out with the highly correlated ab initio coupled cluster method in the space of single, double, and triple (perturbatively) electron excitations CCSD(T) using either the cc‐pVTZ, aug‐cc‐pVTZ, and aug‐cc‐pVQZ basis sets or the 6–311++G(3df,3pd) basis set. The CCSD(T) calculated potential energies have been extrapolated to the complete basis limit (CBS) limit. The Full Configuration Interaction (FCI) energies have been also estimated using the continued‐fraction approximation as proposed by Goodson (J. Chem. Phys., 2002, 116, 6948–6956). Canonical transition‐state theory combined with an Eckart tunneling correction has been used to predict the rate constants as a function of temperature using two kinetic models (direct abstraction or complex mechanism) at two levels of theory (CCSD(T)‐cf/CBS//MP2/cc‐pVTZ and CCSD(T)‐cf/6–311++G(3df,3pd)//MP2/6–311++G(d,p)). The calculated kinetic parameters are in reasonable agreement with their literature counterparts for all reactions. In the light of these trends, the use of the Pople‐style basis sets for studying the reactivity of other systems such as larger cycloalkanes or halogenated cycloalkanes is recommended because the 6–311++G(3df,3pd) basis set is less time consuming than the aug‐cc‐pVQZ basis set. Based on our calculations performed at the CCSD(T)‐cf/CBS//MP2/cc‐pVTZ level of theory, the standard enthalpy of formation at 298 K for the cyclopropyl radical has been reassessed and its value is (290.5 ± 1.6) kJ mol?1.  相似文献

The kinetic properties of the carbon-fluorine radicals are little understood except those of CFn (n =1-3). In this article, a detailed mechanistic study was reported on the gas-phase reaction between the simplest pi-bonded C2F radical and water as the first attempt to understand the chemical reactivity of the C2F radical. Various reaction channels are considered. The most kinetically competitive channel is the quasi-direct hydrogen-abstraction route forming P5 HCCF + OH. At the CCSD(T)/6-311+G(2d,2p)//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)+ZPVE, CCSD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//QCISD/6-311G(d,p)+ZPVE and Gaussian-3//B3LYP/6-31G(d) levels, the overall H-abstraction barriers (4.5, 4.7, and 4.2 kcal/mol) for the C2F + H2O reaction are comparable to the corresponding values (5.5, 3.7, and 5.7 kcal/mol) for the analogous C2H + H2O reaction. This suggests that C2F is a reactive radical like the extensively studied C2H, in contrast to the situation of the CF and CF2 radicals that have much lower reactivity than the corresponding hydrocarbon species. Thus, the C2F radical is expected to play an important role in the combustion processes of the carbon-fluorine chemistry. Furthermore, addition of a second H2O can catalyze the reaction with the H-abstraction barrier significantly reduced to a marginally zero value (0.5 kcal/mol). This is also indicative of the potential relevance of the title reactions in the low-temperature atmospheric chemistry.  相似文献

Hydrogen-bonded gas-phase molecular clusters of dihydrogen trioxide (HOOOH) have been investigated using DFT (B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,3pd)) and MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) methods. The binding energies, vibrational frequencies, and dipole moments for the various dimer, trimer, and tetramer structures, in which HOOOH acts as a proton donor as well as an acceptor, are reported. The stronger binding interaction in the HOOOH dimer, as compared to that in the analogous cyclic structure of the HOOH dimer, indicates that dihydrogen trioxide is a stronger acid than hydrogen peroxide. A new decomposition pathway for HOOOH was explored. Decomposition occurs via an eight-membered ring transition state for the intermolecular (slightly asynchronous) transfer of two protons between the HOOOH molecules, which form a cyclic dimer, to produce water and singlet oxygen (Delta (1)O 2). This autocatalytic decomposition appears to explain a relatively fast decomposition (Delta H a(298K) = 19.9 kcal/mol, B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p)) of HOOOH in nonpolar (inert) solvents, which might even compete with the water-assisted decomposition of this simplest of polyoxides (Delta H a(298K) = 18.8 kcal/mol for (H 2O) 2-assisted decomposition) in more polar solvents. The formation of relatively strongly hydrogen-bonded complexes between HOOOH and organic oxygen bases, HOOOH-B (B = acetone and dimethyl ether), strongly retards the decomposition in these bases as solvents, most likely by preventing such a proton transfer.  相似文献
