The propagation and interaction of nonlocal incoherent white-light solitons in strongly nonlocal kerr media is investigated. Numerical simulations show that the interaction properties of nonlocal incoherent white-light solitons are different from the case in local media. The interactions of nonlocal incoherent white-light solitons are always attractive independent of their relative phase, while the other parameters such as the extent of nonlocality and the input power have a great impact on the soliton interactions. Pertinent numerical examples are presented to show their propagation and interaction behaviour further.  相似文献

Incoherent white light from an incandescent source is employed to fabricate volume phase zone plates in LiNbO3:Fe, for the first time to our knowledge, which can guide and modulate the input white light or laser light. The diffractive efficiency of the white light volume phase zone plates fabricated can reach as high as 12%. In addition, we test the volume phase zone plates by a probe beam and find that the volume phase zone plate is present in the direction perpendicular to the c-axis and absent in the direction parallel to the c-axis. This directly proves the existence of photovoltaic photorefractive anisotropy of white light.  相似文献

Using fully incoherent white light emitted from an incandescent lamp and amplitude mask, we experimentally investigate the influence of several factors on the fabrication of the lattice in photovoltaic self-defocusing LiNbO3:Fe crystal, the factors include the orientation of the crystalline c axis relative to the principal axis of the photonic lattice and the filament, the diameter of input dark spot and the separation of the adjacent input dark spots. Experimental results reveal that the best fabricating condition of photonic lattices is that the principal axis of lattice is tilted for 45^o relative to the crystalline c axis which is parallel to the filament of the lamp. In addition, it is necessary that the diameter of the input dark spot is larger than the half of their separation.  相似文献

The effects of higher-order space charge field on the self-deflection of dark screening spatial solitons in biased photorefractive crystals are numerically investigated under steady-state conditions. The expression for an induced space-charge electric field including higher-order space-charge field terms is obtained. Numerical results indicate that dark solitons possess a self-deflection process during propagation, and the solitons always bend in the direction of the c axis of the crystal. The self-deflection of dark solitons can experience considerable increase especially in the regime of high bias field strengths.  相似文献

Propagation properties of bright and dark incoherent beams are numerically studied in photovoltaic-photorefractive crystal by using coherent density approach for the first time. Numerical simulations not only exhibit that bright incoherent photovoltaic quasi-soliton, grey-like incoherent photovoltaic soliton, incoherent soliton doublet and triplet can be established under proper conditions, but also display that the spatial coherence properties of these incoherent beams can be significantly affected during propagation by the photovoltaic field.  相似文献

We investigate numerically the interaction of nonlocal incoherent spatial solitons in strongly nonlocal kerr media based on the coherent density approach. Numerical simulations show that the incoherent soliton position is very similar to the case of coherent soliton, and show that the incoherence plays an important role in the soliton interaction, while the role of other parameters such as the phase difference, the separation, the extent of nonlocality and the input power play in the interaction is very similar to the case of nonlocal coherent soliton. Some interesting numerical examples are presented to illustrate their interaction behavior further. Pertinent physics features are addressed.  相似文献

The nonlinear refraction of chlorophosphonazo I (CPA I) was investigated using the Z-scan technique with a pulse Nd:YAG laser and a cw HeNe laser as excitation sources. Positive and large nonlinear refractive index attributed to resonant electronic nonlinear effect was observed under pulse 532 nm excitation. Under cw HeNe 633 nm excitation, the origin of optical nonlinearity was discussed in term of laser heating effect. The experimental results show that CPA I will have potential applications in nonlinear optical devices.  相似文献

We present a generalized soliton theory based on the one-dimensional generalized nonlinear Schroedinger equation,from which one can easily obtain the bright, dark, and grey soliton waveforms, and their existence curves. We show that the forming conditions of spatial solitons are directly dependent on the relationship between the index perturbation and the intensity, no matter whether the index perturbation is positive or negative. Some relevant examples are presented when the solitons are supported by the photoisomerization nonlinearity.  相似文献

The dynamics evolution of dark holographic solutions in a dissipative system is investigated numerically provided that the double balance, i.e. diffraction is balanced by nonlinearity and loss is balanced by gain, is satisfied. The influence of the system parameters, such as the linear loss of the crystal, the external biased field and the angel between input beams, on the stable propagation of soliton beams is discussed numerically. Results show that such solitons can be easily amplified or absorbed by adjusting these system parameters. Furthermore, numerical simulations indicate that dissipative dark holographic solitons are stable for small perturbation on amplitude.  相似文献

We investigate the third-order optical nonlinearities in four novel porphyrin dimers (dimers A to D) and a monomeric porphyrin H2 CPTPP measured by using the single-beam z-scan technique with a pulsed Q-switched Nd:YAG nanosecond laser at 532nm. All the samples show strong excited state absorption (ESA) and high value of Х^(3) in the ns domain at this wavelength. We perform a comparison between dimer A and its monomer H2 CPTPP in their third-order optical nonlinearity, and discuss the relationships between the values of Х^(3) and the different bridging groups for all the dimers.  相似文献

By extending the (1 + 1)-dimensional [(1 + 1)-D] perturbation method suggested by Ouyang et al. [S. Ouyang, Q. Guo, W. Hu, Phys. Rev. E. 74 (2006) 036622] to the (1 + 2)-D case, we obtain a fundamental soliton solution to the (1 + 2)-D nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NNLSE) with a Gaussian-type response function for the sub-strongly nonlocal case. Numerical simulations show that the soliton solution obtained in this paper can describe the soliton states in both the sub-strongly nonlocal case and the strongly nonlocal case. It is found that the phase constant and the power of the (1 + 2)-D strongly nonlocal spatial optical soliton with a Gaussian-type response function are both in inverse proportion to the 4th power of its beam width.  相似文献

Discussed is the propagation of optical beams in non-local nonlinear media modelled by 1 + 1D non-local nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NNLSE). In the sub-strongly non-local case, an approximate analytical solution is obtained for an arbitrary response function by a variational approach. Described by a combination of the Jacobian elliptic functions, the solution is periodic, and its period depends on not only the input power but also the initial beam width, which is confirmed by the numerical simulation of the NNLSE.  相似文献

It is discussed that optical beams propagate in non-local Kerr medium waveguides with losses. A variational principle is carried out for the 1 + 1-D non-local non-linear Schrödinger equation in the presence of the losses. In the strongly non-local case, the approximate analytical solutions are obtained. The lossy soliton solution shows that, Unlike its local counterpart, such lossy strongly non-local soliton does not possess the adiabatic property anymore. In addition, the general approximate results for non-soliton cases are gained. The comparisons between our approximate analytic solutions and numerical simulations confirm our variational approximate solutions.  相似文献

The propagation of multiple mutually incoherent spatial solitons in biased photovoltaic–photorefractive crystals is investigated under steady-state conditions. It is shown that incoherently coupled bright–dark hybrid screening–photovoltaic soliton families can be established in the crystals provided that the mutually incoherent incident beams have the same polarization and the same wavelength. Relevant examples are presented where the photovoltaic–photorefractive crystal is taken to be lithium niobate. In advanced optical fiber communication systems where reflection light might cause degradation of the signal quality, optical waveguide isolators play an important role. The effect of a metal layer with negative permittivity on the behavior of nonlinear-magnetooptic isolator is studied. The isolator consists of metal film, nonlinear cladding, and magnetooptic substrate. It is found that difference between forward and backward propagation for TM0 mode increases with increasing the absolute value of the tuning parameter which is the permittivity of the metal film, ?f. It is also found that the maximum cut-off thickness of the isolator occurs in self-defocusing case around η = 0.65 and at the highest assumed value of ?f = −8. These results are helpful in fabricating an isolator with high performance.  相似文献

We study experimentally the interaction of a dark spot with a nonlinear photonic lattice with fully incoherent white light emitted from an incandescent bulb in the self-defocussing photovoltaic media when the dark spot is aimed at different positions of lattices with different lattice spacing. In this case a host of novel phenomena is demonstrated, including dark spot induced lattice dislocation-deformation, the annihilation of the dark spot and so on. Results demonstrate that the interaction between incoherent dark spot and photonic lattice is always attraction and the large-spacing photonic lattice is analogous to the continuous medium.  相似文献

We investigate the propagation and interaction of elliptic incoherent spatial solitons (EISS) in strongly nonlocal kerr media with an anisotropic nonlocality based on the coherent density approach. An exact analytical solution of such EISS is obtained; the results show that such EISS can form with both isotropic and anisotropic coherence. Moreover, we find that the interaction properties of EISS are very similar to that of their coherent counterpart. Some numerical examples are presented and pertinent physics features are addressed.  相似文献
