Let G be a hypercentral group. Our main result here is that if G/G’ is divisible by finite then G itself is divisible by finite. This extends a recent result of Heng, Duan and Chen [2], who prove in a slightly weaker form
the special case where G is also a p-group. If G is torsion-free, then G is actually divisible.

It is proved that if G is a finite group with an element order set as in the simple group 3D4(q), where q is even, then the commutant of G/F(G) is isomorphic to 3D4(q) and the factor group G/G′ is a cyclic {2, 3}-group.

A soluble group G is rigid if it contains a normal series of the form G = G1 > G2 > … > Gp > Gp+1 = 1, whose quotients Gi/Gi+1 are Abelian and are torsion-free as right ℤ[G/Gi]-modules. The concept of a rigid group appeared in studying algebraic geometry over groups that are close to free soluble.
In the class of all rigid groups, we distinguish divisible groups the elements of whose quotients Gi/Gi+1 are divisible by any elements of respective groups rings Z[G/Gi]. It is reasonable to suppose that algebraic geometry over divisible rigid groups is rather well structured. Abstract properties
of such groups are investigated. It is proved that in every divisible rigid group H that contains G as a subgroup, there is
a minimal divisible subgroup including G, which we call a divisible closure of G in H. Among divisible closures of G are divisible
completions of G that are distinguished by some natural condition. It is shown that a divisible completion is defined uniquely
up to G-isomorphism.

Let k be a field, K/k a finite extension of it of degree n. We denote G=Aut(kK), Go=Aut(k K) and fix in K a basis ω1,...,ωn over k. In this basis, to any automorphism group of kK there corresponds a matrix group, which is denoted by the same symbol.
Let G′≤G., In this paper, the conditions under which G′⊎Go is a maximal torus in G′ are studied. The calculation of NG′(G′⊎Go) is carried out, provided that thee conditions are fulfilled. The case G′=SL (kK) is of particular interset. It is known
that for Galois extensions and for extensions of algebraic number fields, G′⊎Go is a maximal torus in G′. Bibligraphy: 2 titles.

It is proved that if L is one of the simple groups 3D4(q) or F4(q), where q is odd, and G is a finite group with the set of element orders as in L, then the derived subgroup of G/F(G) is
isomorphic to L and the factor group G/G′ is a cyclic {2, 3}-group.

In 1955 R. Brauer and K. A. Fowler showed that ifG is a group of even order >2, and the order |Z(G)| of the center ofG is odd, then there exists a strongly real) elementx∈G−Z whose centralizer satisfies|C
G(x)|>|G|1/3. In Theorem 1 we show that every non-abeliansolvable groupG contains an elementx∈G−Z such that|C
G(x)|>[G:G′∩Z]1/2 (and thus|C
G(x)|>|G|1/3). We also note that if non-abelianG is either metabelian, nilpotent or (more generally) supersolvable, or anA-group, or any Frobenius group, then|C
G(x)|>|G|1/2 for somex∈G−Z. In Theorem 2 we prove that every non-abelian groupG of orderp
mqn (p, q primes) contains a proper centralizer of order >|G|1/2. Finally, in Theorem 3 we show that theaverage
|C(x)|, x∈G, is ≧c|G|
1/3 for metabelian groups, wherec is constant and the exponent 1/3 is best possible. 相似文献

Let G be an extension of ℚ by a direct sum of r copies of ℚ. (1) If G is abelian, then G is a direct sum of r + 1 copies of ℚ and AutG ≅ GL(r + 1, Q); (2) If G is non-abelian, then G is a direct product of an extraspecial ℚ-group E and m copies of ℚ, where E/ζE is a linear space over Q with dimension 2n and m + 2n = r. Furthermore, let AutG′G be the normal subgroup of AutG consisting of all elements of AutG which act trivially on the derived subgroup G′ of G, and AutG/ζG,ζGG be the normal subgroup of AutG consisting of all central automorphisms of G which also act trivially on the center ζG of G. Then (i) The extension 1 → AutG′G → AutG → AutG′ → 1 is split; (ii) AutG′G/AutG/ζG,ζGG ≅ Sp(2n,Q) × (GL(m, Q) ⋉ ℚ(m)); (iii) AutG/ζG,ζGG/InnG ≅ ℚ(2nm). 相似文献

Let
\mathfrakX{\mathfrak{X}} be a class of groups. A group G is called a minimal non-
\mathfrakX{\mathfrak{X}}-group if it is not an
\mathfrakX{\mathfrak{X}}-group but all of whose proper subgroups are
\mathfrakX{\mathfrak{X}}-groups. In [16], Xu proved that if G is a soluble minimal non-Baer-group, then G/G
′′ is a minimal non-nilpotent-group which possesses a maximal subgroup. In the present note, we prove that if G is a soluble minimal non-(finite-by-Baer)-group, then for all integer n ≥ 2, G/γ
n
(G′) is a minimal non-(finite-by-abelian)-group. 相似文献

The theory of harmonic maps has been developed since the 1960's (see [2]). In recent years, some authors discussed the harmonicity
of “homogeneous” maps between Riemannian homogeneous spaces using the theory of Lie groups. LetG andG′ be compact Lie groups,H andH′ their closed subgroups respectively. Assume that a homomorphism θ:G→G′ mapsH intoH′; then there exists an induced mapf
θ:G/H→G′/H′. M.A. Guest gave a necessary and sufficient condition for such a map to be harmonic, whenG/H andG′/H′ are generalized flag manifolds,H=T is a maximal torus andG′ is a unitary group; and he gave some interesting examples (see [3]). We generalize his results to the case of general generalized
flag manifoldsG/H, i.e.H is a centralizer of a torus, and give some new examples of harmonic maps.

AssumeV =L andλ is regular smaller than the first weakly compact cardinal. Under those circumstances and with arbitrary requirements on the
structure of Ext (G, ℤ) (under well known limitations), we construct an abelian groupG of cardinalityλ such that for noG′ ⊆G, |G′| <λ isG/G′ free and Ext (G, ℤ) realizes our requirements.

A conformal map Φ on the unit disk is called a compact deformation of a Fuchsian groupG if Φ has a quasiconformal extension to the planeh which conjugatesG to a Kleinian group G′ and the dilatation ofh is compactly supported moduloG. We show that for such deformations δ = dim(∧(G′)) = dim(∧c(G′)) (if δ ≥1) and the image of ∧e = ∧ ∧c is contained in a countable union of rectifiable curves and has zero length iffG is divergence type.

The closed neighborhood NG[e] of an edge e in a graph G is the set consisting of e and of all edges having an end-vertex in common with e. Let f be a function on E(G), the edge set of G, into the set {−1, 1}. If
for each e ∈ E(G), then f is called a signed edge dominating function of G. The signed edge domination number γs′(G) of G is defined as
. Recently, Xu proved that γs′(G) ≥ |V(G)| − |E(G)| for all graphs G without isolated vertices. In this paper we first characterize all simple connected graphs G for which γs′(G) = |V(G)| − |E(G)|. This answers Problem 4.2 of [4]. Then we classify all simple connected graphs G with precisely k cycles and γs′(G) = 1 − k, 2 − k.

In this paper, we prove the following theorem: Let p be a prime number, P a Sylow psubgroup of a group G and π = π(G) / {p}. If P is seminormal in G, then the following statements hold: 1) G is a p-soluble group and P' ≤ Op(G); 2) lp(G) ≤ 2 and lπ(G) ≤ 2; 3) if a π-Hall subgroup of G is q-supersoluble for some q ∈ π, then G is q-supersoluble. 相似文献

We answer a question of A. Lubotzky and A. Mann by constructing examples of infinite groupsG such that every isomorphismα:H →K between subgroupsH andK having finite index inG coincides with the identity on some subgroup of finite index. The structure of such a group is very restricted;G must be virtually a 2-group with finite central derived subgroup andG/G′ elementary abelian.
