Pyrimidine‐based diboron complexes bearing β‐iminoenolate ligands and phenyl groups as bulky substituents on the boron atoms were synthesized as novel fluorescent dyes, and their fluorescence properties were investigated in solution and in the solid state. The diboron complexes with donor–π–acceptor structures showed positive solvatochromism in the fluorescence spectra. The cyano derivative exhibited the most dramatic redshift of the fluorescence maximum Fmax with increasing solvent polarity (from 551 nm in n‐hexane to 710 nm in acetonitrile). The diboron complexes showed solid‐state fluorescence in the range of 578–706 nm with fluorescence quantum yields of 0.06–0.28. Additionally, the trifluoromethyl derivative exhibited solvent‐inclusion solid‐state fluorescence. The trifluoromethyl derivative formed toluene‐inclusion and ethyl acetate‐inclusion crystals. The toluene‐inclusion crystal (Fmax=668 nm, Φf=0.16) showed a blueshifted Fmax and higher Φf value compared to the original trifluoromethyl derivative (Fmax=694 nm, Φf=0.08) in the solid state. On the other hand, the Fmax (709 nm) and Φf (0.04) values of the ethyl acetate‐inclusion crystal were redshifted and lower, respectively.  相似文献

A series of linear monodisperse vinylene-linked phenothiazine oligomers have been synthesized by alternate Heck reaction and Wittig reaction in good yields. It was found that their absorption and fluorescence emission bands red-shifted with increasing phenothiazine units due to extending of the conjugated degree. The fluorescent quantum yield increased from OPTZ1 to OPTZ6, and the ΦF of OPTZ6 was close to phenothiazine-based polymers.  相似文献

To gain insight into substituent electronic effect on charge-transfer excitation of acetylenic π-systems, phenylene-(poly)ethynylenes substituted by Ph2N or Ph2N/cyano groups were synthesized by combination of Sonogashira coupling and double elimination protocol of β-substituted sulfones. These substituted phenyleneethynylenes showed large molar absorption coefficients ?, and emitted strong fluorescence upon UV light irradiation. Phenylene-(poly)ethynylenes, which involve butadiyne or hexatriyne motifs, emitted fluorescence in remarkably lower fluorescence quantum yields ΦF as their polyethynylene motifs -(CC)n- expanded. The drastic decrease of fluorescence quantum yields ΦF were explained in terms of increasing nonradiative reaction rate constants knr, which had been determined by the corresponding fluorescence quantum yields ΦF and lifetime values τ. The emission underwent a large bathochromic shift in polar solvents because the charge-separated excited state is more stabilized than the ground state. Comparison of slope values ρ in Lippert/Mataga plot for the Ph2N and Ph2N/cyano-substituted phenylene-(poly)ethynylenes revealed that the latter underwent large change of dipole moments upon photo-excitation although highly expanded acetylenic π-systems with cyano group did little.  相似文献

Red-emissive π-expanded diketopyrrolopyrroles (DPPs) with fluorescence reaching λ=750 nm can be easily synthesized by a three-step strategy involving the preparation of diketopyrrolopyrrole followed by N-arylation and subsequent intramolecular palladium-catalyzed direct arylation. Comprehensive spectroscopic assays combined with first-principles calculations corroborated that both N-arylated and fused DPPs reach a locally excited (S1) state after excitation, followed by internal conversion to states with solvent and structural relaxation, before eventually undergoing intersystem crossing. Only the structurally relaxed state is fluorescent, with lifetimes in the range of several nanoseconds and tens of picoseconds in nonpolar and polar solvents, respectively. The lifetimes correlate with the fluorescence quantum yields, which range from 6 % to 88 % in nonpolar solvents and from 0.4 % and 3.2 % in polar solvents. A very inefficient (T1) population is responsible for fluorescence quantum yields as high as 88 % for the fully fused DPP in polar solvents.  相似文献

The decay processes of the lowest excited singlet and triplet states of five methylated angelicins (4,6,4′-trimethyl-angelicin, MA, and four methylated thioangelicins, MTA; see Scheme 1) were investigated in live solvents by stationary and pulsed fluorometric and flash photolytic techniques. In particular, the solvent effects on absorption, fluorescence, quantum yields of fluorescence (φF) and triplet formation (φT), lifetimes of fluorescence (τF) and the triplet state (τT) and the quantum yields of singlet oxygen production (φΔ) were investigated. Semiempirical (ZINDO/S-CI) calculations were carried out to obtain information (transition probabilities and nature) on the lowest excited singlet and triplet states. The quantum mechanical calculations and the solvent effect on the photophysical properties showed that the lowest excited singlet state (S1) is a partially allowed π,π* state, while the close-lying S2 state is n,π* in nature. The efficiencies of fluorescence, S1→T1 intersystem crossing (ISC) and S1→ S0 internal conversion (IC) strongly depend on the energy gap between S1, and S2 and are explained in terms of the so-called proximity effect. In fact, for MA in cyclohexane, only the S1→ S0 internal conversion is operative, while in acetonitrile and ethanol, where the n.π* state is shifted to higher energy, the efficiencies of fluorescence and ISC increase significantly. The energy gap between S1 and S2 increases in MTA, where the furanic oxygen is replaced by a sulfur atom. Consequently, the solvent effect on the photophysical parameters of MTA is less marked than for MA; e.g. fluorescence and triplet-triplet absorption are also detectable in the nonpolar cyclohexane. The lowest excited singlet state of molecular oxygen O2(1Dg) was produced efficiently in polar solvents by energy transfer from the T1 state of MA and MTA.  相似文献

Abstract— Steady state and time resolved fluorescence emission properties of symmetrical dialkoxy-anthracenes (especially substituted on the side rings) 1-X, Y were studied in methylcylohexane. At room temperature, the fluorescence spectra of 1-X, Y show bands in the region of 380–550 nm and quantum yields (φF) in the range of 0.2–1. The fluorescence emission decays were found to be single exponential. The determination of the intersystem crossing quantum yields (φisc) for the weakly fluorescent compounds (1–1,5, 1–1,8 and 1–2,3) demonstrates that internal conversion is negligible compared with fluorescence emission and intersystem crossing, as previously observed for other anthracene derivatives. The fluorescence emission efficiency of compounds 1-X,Y is controlled by the relative mutual positions of the second triplet T2 (whose energy varies significantly with substitution) and the first excited singlet S1 states, respectively. An unusual solvatochromism was found for compound 1–1,4 which has a very weak permanent dipole moment in the ground state. This behavior was assigned to strong changes in the electronic densities between the excited singlet state and the ground state.  相似文献

Spectroscopic studies on benzo[b]fluorenone (BF) solvatochromism in several aprotic and alcoholic solvents have been performed to investigate the fluorescence quenching by hydrogen bonding and proposed a weaker ability to form intermolecular hydrogen bond of BF than fluorenone (FN). In this work, the time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) method was used to study the excited-state hydrogen bonding of both FN and BF in ethanol (EtOH) solvent. As a result, it is demonstrated by our theoretical calculations that the hydrogen bond of BF–EtOH complex is almost identical with that of FN–EtOH. Moreover, the fluorescence quantum yields of FN and BF in the alcoholic solvent is efficiently dependent on the energy gap between the lowest excited singlet state (fluorescent state) and ground state, which can be used to explain the fluorescence quenching by the excited-state hydrogen bond strengthening.  相似文献

Fluorescent photosensitizers (PSs) often encounter low singlet oxygen (1O2) quantum yields and fluorescence quenching in the aggregated state, mainly involving the intersystem crossing process. Herein, we successfully realize maximizing 1O2 quantum yields of fluorescent PSs through promoting radical-pair intersystem crossing (RP-ISC), which serves as a molecular symmetry-controlling strategy of donor–acceptor (D–A) motifs. The symmetric quadrupolar A–D–A molecule PTP exhibits an excellent 1O2 quantum yield of 97.0% with bright near-infrared fluorescence in the aggregated state. Theoretical and ultrafast spectroscopic studies suggested that the RP-ISC mechanism dominated the formation of the triplet for PTP, where effective charge separation and an ultralow singlet–triplet energy gap (0.01 eV) enhanced the ISC process to maximize 1O2 generation. Furthermore, in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated the dual function of PTP as a fluorescent imaging agent and an anti-cancer therapeutic, with promising potential applications in both diagnosis and theranostics.

A series of fluorescently labeled core cross‐linked star (CCS) polymers were synthesized via the “arm‐first” approach, employing atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) to control the resulting architecture. The initiator p‐toluenesulfonyl chloride (TsCl) was used to synthesize “living” poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) macroinitiator, which was subsequently cross‐linked to generate the CCS polymers. Divinylbenzene (DVB) was used as the cross‐linker and 7‐[4‐(trifluoromethyl)coumarin] methacrylamide ( F1 , λex = 343 nm) was added as a fluorescent labeling monomer. A range of PMMA/DVB/ F1 based CCS polymers were synthesized with the core domain made selectively fluorescent by using varying amounts of monomer F1 . The core functionalized stars were characterized using gel permeation chromatography (GPC) equipped with multi‐angle laser light scattering (MALLS), refractive index (RI), and UV–visible detectors. The fluorescence quantum yield (ΦF) and the amount of fluorescent monomer incorporated into the core were quantified by UV–visible and fluorescence spectrophotometry. It was recognized that the overall molecular weights of the stars produced, along with their core molecular weight, decreased as the mol % of monomer F1 was increased relative to cross‐linker. Visual confirmation of F1 incorporation was obtained by fluorescence microscopy of thin polymer films cast on glass substrates. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new series of fluorescent 3-aminoalkylamidonapthalimides were synthesized starting form 1,8-naphthalic anhydride. The structure of these compounds was characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR and Mass spectral analysis. The solvent effect on 1H and 13C NMR of these compounds was studied in CDCl3, CDCl3:DMSO-d6 (7:3, v/v) and DMSO-d6. NMR chemical shift of the ortho and para protons and meta carbons of naphthalene ring showed maximum variation on moving from CDCl3 to DMSO-d6. In CDCl3 solvent naphthalene ring may exist in slightly puckered form while in DMSO-d6 it attains maximum planar configuration. Fluorescent properties of the title compounds and their precursors were investigated in different solvents like chloroform, ethanol, acetonitrile, acetone, DMSO and water. 3-Aminoalkylamidonapthalimides exhibited improved fluorescence than their precursors. Cyclic amino derivatives yielded higher fluorescence quantum efficiency in protic solvents, ethanol and water. Acylic amino derivatives yielded high fluorescence quantum efficiency in chloroform solvent. The maximum fluorescence quantum yield up to 0.14 was found for butyl amine derivative in chloroform solvent. In general proton accepting nucleophilic solvents like acetone and DMSO quenched the fluorescence.  相似文献

The spectroscopic, photochemical, and biological studies of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[2,6-difluoro-5(N-methylsulfamylo)phenyl]porphyrinate Zn(II) (ZnF2PMet) were carried out including absorption and fluorescence spectra, fluorescence quantum yields, triplet absorption spectra, triplet lifetimes, singlet oxygen quantum yield, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) detection under biological conditions and compared with its free-base analog (F2PMet). Zinc coordination into the porphyrin ring results in decrease of hydrophobicity and in higher cellular uptake. F2PMet localized specifically in endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria while the ZnF2PMet is more diffused all over the cell, bonded to membrane proteins, as assessed by fluorescence microscopy. Zn-porphyrin exhibits greater singlet oxygen quantum yield than its free-base analog. Studies with fluorescent probes confirm that the ZnF2PMet produces mostly singlet oxygen, whereas F2PMet generates more hydroxyl radicals as the ROS. F2PMet is a more effective photosensitizer in vitro than its zinc complex, thus, the final photodynamic effect depends more on the nature of ROS than on the higher cellular uptake.  相似文献

A series of 17,17‐dialkyl‐3,14‐diaryltetrabenzofluorenes were efficiently prepared by using Suzuki–Miyaura cross‐coupling reactions of the corresponding 3,14‐dibromo derivatives. Studies of the unique fluorescence properties of these compounds showed that they display intense blue to yellow fluorescence with high quantum yields in the solution state and blue to orange fluorescence with moderate quantum yields in the solid state. In addition, the fluorescence wavelength of the bis(p‐nitrophenyl) derivative is remarkably solvent‐dependent in a manner that correlates with the solvent polarity parameter ET(30). The results of density function theory calculations suggest that the intramolecular charge‐transfer character of the HOMO–LUMO transition is responsible for the large solvent effect. Moreover, addition of water to a tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution of this compound leads to quenching of the yellow fluorescence owing to an increase in the solvent polarity. However, when the amount of water fraction exceeds 70 %, a new fluorescence band appears at the same orange‐red emission wavelength as that of the solid‐state fluorescence. This observation suggests the occurrence of a crystallization‐induced emission (CIE) phenomenon in highly aqueous THF.  相似文献

A kind of 1,2-dithioglycol (DTG) functionalised carbon nitride quantum dots (DTG-CNQDs) was designed for the first time by modifying DTG on the surface of carbon nitride quantum dots (CNQDs). The as-prepared DTG-CNQDs exhibit strong blue fluorescence under ultraviolet light and have a high quantum yield of 27%. Experiments show that Hg2+ has a good quenching effect on the fluorescence of DTG-CNQDs. In phosphate buffer (PBS, 10 mM, pH 6.0), the fluorescence quenching rate (F0/F) has a good linear relationship with the concentration of Hg2+ in the range of 0.020–0.50 μM with detection limit of 0.63 nM. This fluorescent probe possesses high sensitivity and good selectivity, which can be applied in the rapid detection of Hg2+ in tap and lake water samples.  相似文献

A novel interfacial route has been developed for the synthesis of a bright‐red‐emitting new subnanocluster, Au23, by the core etching of a widely explored and more stable cluster, Au25SG18 (in which SG is glutathione thiolate). A slight modification of this procedure results in the formation of two other known subnanoclusters, Au22 and Au33. Whereas Au22 and Au23 are water soluble and brightly fluorescent with quantum yields of 2.5 and 1.3 %, respectively, Au33 is organic soluble and less fluorescent, with a quantum yield of 0.1 %. Au23 exhibits quenching of fluorescence selectively in the presence of Cu2+ ions and it can therefore be used as a metal‐ion sensor. Aqueous‐ to organic‐phase transfer of Au23 has been carried out with fluorescence enhancement. Solvent dependency on the fluorescence of Au23 before and after phase transfer has been studied extensively and the quantum yield of the cluster varies with the solvent used. The temperature response of Au23 emission has been demonstrated. The inherent fluorescence of Au23 was used for imaging human hepatoma cells by employing the avidin–biotin interaction.  相似文献

A high contrast tri‐state fluorescent switch (FSPTPE) with both emission color change and on/off switching is achieved in a single molecular system by fusing the aggregation‐induced emissive tetraphenylethene (TPE) with a molecular switch of spiropyran (SP). In contrast to most of the reported solid‐state fluorescent switches, FSPTPE only exists in the amorphous phase in the ring‐closed form owing to its highly asymmetric molecular geometry and weak intermolecular interactions, which leads to its grinding‐inert stable cyan emission in the solid state. Such an amorphous phase facilitates the fast response of FSPTPE to acidic gases and induces the structural transition from the ring‐closed form to ring‐open form, accompanied with the “Off” state of the fluorescence. The structural transition leads to a planar molecular conformation and high dipole moment, which further results in strong intermolecular interactions and good crystallinity, so when the acid is added together with a solvent, both the ring‐opening reaction and re‐crystallization can be triggered to result in an orange emissive state. The reversible control between any two of the three states (cyan/orange/dark) can be achieved with acid/base or mechanical force/solvent treatment. Because of the stable initial state and high color contrast (Δλ=120 nm for cyan/orange switch, dark state ΦF<0.01 %), the fluorescent switch is very promising for applications such as displays, chemical or mechanical sensing, and anti‐counterfeiting.  相似文献

The correlation of dibutyl-ether-ester of xanthene dye structures with their photophysical properties is discussed with respect to their capability as fluorescent probes based on ultraviolet–visible absorption, fluorescence spectra and fluorescence lifetimes measured in different solvents. It was found that the dibutyl-ether-ester of fluorescein is very weakly emissive in aprotic solvents, but fairly strong fluorescent in alcohols. The dependence of fluorescence quantum yield (Φf) and lifetime (τf) on solvent polarity suggests non-involvement of the intra-molecular photoinduced electron transfer (PeT) mechanism, suggested previously to account for the emission efficiency of fluorescein derivatives. The xanthene dyes intend to self-assemble in aprotic solvents, less polar solvents facilitate the aggregation while hydrogen bonding disfavor it. The formation of non-emissive H-aggregates is proposed to be responsible for their fluorescent behavior. The esterification showed stronger influences on the photophysics than the etherification, i.e. the former caused larger reduction of Φf owing to the internal conversion. The halogenation decreases the fluorescence quantum yield and lifetime of the xanthene dyes, owing to the enhancement of inter-system crossing process.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of a chlorin, isobacteriochlorin and bacteriochlorin built on a core tetrapentafluorophenylporphyrin (TPPF20) and the nonhydrolyzable para thioglycosylated conjugates of these chromophores are presented. The photophysical characterization of these compounds was done in three different solvents to correlate with different environments in cells and tissues. Compared with TPPF20 other dyes have greater absorption in the red region of the visible spectrum and greater fluorescence quantum yields. The excited state lifetimes are from 3 to 11 ns. The radiative and nonradiative rate constants for deactivation of the excited state were estimated from the fluorescence quantum yield and excited state lifetime. The data indicate that the bacteriochlorin has strong absorption bands near 730 nm and efficiently enters the triplet manifold. The isobacteriochlorin has a 40–70% fluorescence quantum yield depending on solvent, so it may be a good fluorescent tag. The isobacteriochlorins also display enhanced two‐photon absorption, thereby allowing the use of 860 nm light to excite the compound. While the two‐photon cross section of 25 GM units is not large, excitation of low chromophore concentrations can induce apoptosis. The glycosylated compounds accumulate in cancer cells and a head and neck squamous carcinoma xenograft tumor model in mice. These compounds are robust to photobleaching.  相似文献

Four ring‐shaped silafluorene‐containing compounds ( 1 – 4 ) were synthesized and characterized as potentially promising monomers for fluorescent polymers. Their optical properties in solution and solid state (thin film and powder) were studied. These compounds have low quantum yields in solution (Φfl=0.13‐0.15) with fluorescence maxima at about 355 nm, but high quantum yields in the solid state (powder, Φfl=0.35‐0.54) with fluorescence maxima at about 377 and 488 nm. Influence of the substituents and the number of silafluorene units in 1 – 4 on their optical properties was investigated. Extensive study of the X‐ray crystal structures of 1 – 4 was undertaken to analyze and qualitatively estimate the role, extent, and influence of silafluorene moieties’ interactions on solid‐state fluorescent properties. Excited state UV/Vis and theoretical molecular orbital (MO) calculations were performed to explore possible fluorescence mechanisms and differences in quantum yields among these compounds.  相似文献

Functional π-extended fluorene derivatives, 2,7-di(p-substituted-phenyl)fluorenes containing different functional groups such as hydrogen, trimethylsilyl (TMS), methoxycarbonyl, cyano, and nitro groups, were synthesized. Except for the nitro group, the resulting compounds exhibited extremely high fluorescence quantum yields (ΦF >0.85 in chloroform). The diphenylfluorene containing nitro groups have higher fluorescence quantum yield (ΦF = 0.31 in N,N’-dimethyl-formamide) than other nitro-group-containing fluorophores which were previously reported (ΦF <0.1). Furthermore, this compound exhibited large Stokes’ shift with green to orange emission and unique on-off behavior of the emission by solvents.  相似文献
