The intermolecular potentials for the NO(X 2Pi)-Kr and NO(A 2Sigma+)-Kr systems have been calculated using highly accurate ab initio calculations. The spin-restricted coupled cluster method for the ground 1 2A' state [NO(X 2Pi)-Kr] and the multireference singles and doubles configuration interaction method for the excited 2 2A' state [NO(A 2Sigma+)-Kr], respectively, were used. The potential energy surfaces (PESs) show two linear wells and one that is almost in the perpendicular position. An analytical representation of the PESs has been constructed for the triatomic systems and used to carry out molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of the NO-doped krypton matrix response after excitation of NO. MD results are shown comparatively for three sets of potentials: (1) anisotropic ab initio potentials [NO molecule direction fixed during the dynamics and considered as a point (its center of mass)], (2) isotropic ab initio potentials (isotropic part in a Legendre polynomial expansion of the PESs), and (3) fitted Kr-NO potentials to the spectroscopic data. An important finding of this work is that the anisotropic and isotropic ab initio potentials calculated for the Kr-NO triatomic system are not suitable for describing the dynamics of structural relaxation upon Rydberg excitation of a NO impurity in the crystal. However, the isotropic ab initio potential in the ground state almost overlaps the published experimental potential, being almost independent of the angle asymmetry. This fact is also manifested in the radial distribution function around NO. However, in the case of the excited state the isotropic ab initio potential differs from the fitted potentials, which indicates that the Kr-NO interaction in the matrix is quite different because of the presence of the surrounding Kr atoms acting on the NO molecule. MD simulations for isotropic potentials reasonably reproduce the experimental observables for the femtosecond response and the bubble size but do not match spectroscopic results. A general overall view of the results suggests that, when the Kr-NO interaction takes place inside the matrix, potentials are rather symmetric and less repulsive than those for the triatomic system.  相似文献

Adiabatic corrections are evaluated for the interaction of two hydrogen molecules (H(2))(2) and isotopic variants. Their contribution to the cluster formation amount up to 10% of the interaction energy. Added to the best ab initio Born-Oppenheimer isotropic potential, they correct especially its short range repulsive part. Calculations of second virial coefficients are improved in general, with an impressive agreement with experiments for gaseous D(2) in a large range of temperatures. The potentials are available in both analytical and numerical forms.  相似文献

Using a potential-energy surface obtained in part from ab initio calculations, the H + CH3 → CH4 bimolecular rate constant at T = 300 K is determined from a Monte Carlo classical trajectory study. Representing the CH stretching potential with a standard Morse function instead ofthe ab initio curve increases the calculated rate constant by an order of magnitude. The experimental recombination rate constant is intermediate of the rate constants calculated with the Morse and ab initio stretching potentials. Two properties of the H + CH3 α CH4 potential-energy surface which significantly affect the recombination rate constant are the shape of the CH stretching potential and the attenuation of the H3CH bending frequencies. Ab initio calculations with a hierarchy of basis sets and treatment of electron correlation indicate the latter is properly described [13]. The exact shape of the CH stretching potential is not delineated by the ab initio calculations, since the ab initio calculations are not converged for bond lengths of 2.0–3.0 Å [12]. However, the form of this stretching potential deduced from the highest-level ab initio calculations, and fit analytically by eq. (2), is significantly different from a Morse function. The experimental recombination rate constant is intermediate of the rate constants calculated with the Morse and ab initio CH stretching potentials. This indicates that the actual CH potential energy curve lies between the Morse and ab initio curves. This is consistent with the finding that potential energy curves for diatomics are not well described by a Morse function [12].  相似文献

We present pair potentials for fluorinated methanes and their dimers with CO(2) based on ab initio potential energy surfaces. These potentials reproduce the experimental second virial coefficients of the pure fluorinated methanes and their mixtures with CO(2) without adjustment. Ab initio calculations on trimers are used to model the effects of nonadditive dispersion and induction. Simulations using these potentials reproduce the experimental phase-coexistence properties of CH(3)F within 10% over a wide range of temperatures. The phase coexistence curve of the mixture of CH(2)F(2) and CO(2) is reproduced with an error in the mole fractions of both phases of less than 0.1. The potentials described here are based entirely on ab initio calculations, with no empirical fits to improve the agreement with experiment.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations employing the coupled-cluster method, with single and double substitutions and accounting for triple excitations noniteratively [CCSD(T)], are used to obtain accurate potential energy curves for the K(+)He, K(+)Ne, K(+)Ar, K(+)Kr, K(+)Xe, and K(+)Rn cationic complexes. From these potentials, rovibrational energy levels and spectroscopic parameters are calculated. In addition, mobilities and diffusion coefficients for K(+) cations moving through the six rare gases are calculated, under conditions that match previous experimental determinations. A detailed statistical comparison of the present and previous potentials is made with available experimental data, and critical conclusions are drawn as to the reliability of each set of data. It is concluded that the present ab initio potentials match the accuracy of the best model potentials and the most reliable experimental data.  相似文献

An ab initio nonadditive three-body potential for argon has been developed using quantum-chemical calculations at the CCSD(T) and CCSDT levels of theory. Applying this potential together with a recent ab initio pair potential from the literature, the third and fourth to seventh pressure virial coefficients of argon were computed by standard numerical integration and the Mayer-sampling Monte Carlo method, respectively, for a wide temperature range. All calculated virial coefficients were fitted separately as polynomials in temperature. The results for the third virial coefficient agree with values evaluated directly from experimental data and with those computed for other nonadditive three-body potentials. We also redetermined the second and third virial coefficients from the best experimental pρT data utilizing the computed higher virial coefficients as constraints. Thus, a significantly closer agreement of the calculated third virial coefficients with the experimental data was achieved. For different orders of the virial expansion, pρT data have been calculated and compared with results from high quality measurements in the gaseous and supercritical region. The theoretically predicted pressures are within the very small experimental errors of ±0.02% for p ≤ 12 MPa in the supercritical region near room temperature, whereas for subcritical temperatures the deviations increase up to +0.3%. The computed pressure at the critical density and temperature is about 1.3% below the experimental value. At pressures between 200 MPa and 1000 MPa and at 373 K, the calculated values deviate by 1% to 9% from the experimental results.  相似文献

An efficient approach is described for using accurate ab initio calculations to determine the rates of elementary condensation and evaporation processes that lead to nucleation of aqueous aerosols. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated in an application to evaporation rates of water dimer at 230 K. The method, known as ABC-FEP (ab initio/classical free energy perturbation), begins with a calculation of the potential of mean force for the dissociation (evaporation) of small water clusters using a molecular dynamics (MD) simulation with a model potential. The free energy perturbation is used to calculate how changing from the model potential to a potential calculated from ab initio methods would alter the potential of mean force. The difference in free energy is the Boltzmann-weighted average of the difference between the ab initio and classical potential energies, with the average taken over a sample of configurations from the MD simulation. In principle, the method does not require a highly accurate model potential, though more accurate potentials require fewer configurations to achieve a small sampling error in the free energy perturbation step. To test the feasibility of obtaining accurate potentials of mean force from ab initio calculations at a modest number of configurations, the free energy perturbation method has been used to correct the errors when some standard models for bulk water (SPC, TIP4P, and TIP4PFQ) are applied to water dimer. To allow a thorough exploration of sampling issues, a highly accurate fit to results of accurate ab initio calculations, known as SAPT-5s, as been used a proxy for the ab initio calculations. It is shown that accurate values for a point on the potential of mean force can be obtained from any of the water models using ab initio calculations at only 50 configurations. Thus, this method allows accurate simulations of small clusters without the need to develop water models specifically for clusters.  相似文献

High-quality, ab initio potential energy functions are obtained for the interaction of bromine atoms and anions with atoms of the six rare gases (Rg) from He to Rn. The potentials of the nonrelativistic (2)Sigma(+) and (2)Pi electronic states arising from the ground-state Br((2)P)-Rg interactions are computed over a wide range of internuclear separations using a spin-restricted version of the coupled cluster method with single and double excitations and noniterative correction to triple excitations [RCCSD(T)] with an extrapolation to the complete basis set limit, from basis sets of d-aug-cc-pVQZ and d-aug-cc-pV5Z quality. These are compared with potentials derived previously from experimental measurements and ab initio calculations. The same approach is used also to refine the potentials of the Br(-)-Rg anions obtained previously [Buchachenko et al., J. Chem. Phys. 125, 064305 (2006)]. Spin-orbit coupling in the neutral species is included both ab initio and via an atomic approximation; deviations between two approaches that are large enough to affect the results significantly are observed only in the Br-Xe and Br-Rn systems. The resulting relativistic potentials are used to compute anion zero electron kinetic energy photoelectron spectra, differential scattering cross sections, and the transport coefficients of trace amounts of both anionic and neutral bromine in the rare gases. Comparison with available experimental data for all systems considered proves a very high precision of the present potentials.  相似文献

We performed ab initio quantum-chemical studies for the development of intra- and intermolecular interaction potentials for formic acid for use in molecular-dynamics simulations of formic acid molecular crystal. The formic acid structures considered in the ab initio studies include both the cis and trans monomers which are the conformers that have been postulated as part of chains constituting liquid and crystal phases under extreme conditions. Although the cis to trans transformation is not energetically favored, the trans isomer was found as a component of stable gas-phase species. Our decomposition scheme for the interaction energy indicates that the hydrogen-bonded complexes are dominated by the Hartree-Fock forces while parallel clusters are stabilized by the electron correlation energy. The calculated three-body and higher interactions are found to be negligible, thus rationalizing the development of an atom-atom pair potential for formic acid based on high-level ab initio calculations of small formic acid clusters. Here we present an atom-atom pair potential that includes both intra- and inter molecular degrees of freedom for formic acid. The newly developed pair potential is used to examine formic acid in the condensed phase via molecular-dynamics simulations. The isothermal compression under hydrostatic pressure obtained from molecular-dynamics simulations is in good agreement with experiment. Further, the calculated equilibrium melting temperature is found to be in good agreement with experiment.  相似文献

The isomerization and dissociation dynamics of HONO are investigated on an ab initio potential surface obtained by fitting the results of electronic structure calculations at 21 584 configurations by using previously described novelty sampling and feed-forward neural network (NN) methods. The electronic structure calculations are executed by using GAUSSIAN 98 with a 6-311G(d) basis set at the MP4(SDQ) level of accuracy. The average absolute error of the NN fits varies from 0.012 eV (1.22 kJ mol(-1)) to 0.017 eV (1.64 kJ mol(-1)). The average computation time for a HONO trajectory using a single NN surface is approximately 4.8 s. These computation times compare very favorably with those required by other methods primarily because the NN fitting needs to be executed only one time rather than at every integration point. If the average result obtained from a committee of NNs is employed at each point rather than a single NN, increased fitting accuracy can be achieved at the expense of increased computational requirements. In the present investigation, we find that a committee comprising five NN potentials reduces the average absolute interpolation error to 0.0111 eV (1.07 kJ mol(-1)). Cis-trans isomerization rates with total energy of 1.70 eV (including zero point energy) have been computed for a variety of different initial distributions of the internal energy. In contrast to results previously reported by using an empirical potential, where cis-->trans to trans-->cis rate coefficient ratios at 1.70 eV total energy were found to lie in the range of 2.0-12.9 depending on the vibration mode excited, these ratios on the ab initio NN potential lie in the range of 0.63-1.94. It is suggested that this result is a reflection of much larger intramode coupling terms present in the ab initio potential surface. A direct consequence of this increased coupling is a significant decrease in the mode specific rate enhancement when compared to results obtained by using empirical surfaces. All isomerizations are found to be first order in accordance with the results reported by using empirical potentials. The dissociation rate to NO+OH has been investigated at internal HONO energies of 3.10 and 3.30 eV for different distributions of this energy among the six vibrational modes of HONO. These dissociations are also found to be first order. The computed dissociation rate coefficients exhibit only modest mode specific rate enhancement that is significantly smaller than that obtained on an empirical surface because of the much larger mode couplings present on the ab initio surface.  相似文献

The Gibbs ensemble molecular dynamics algorithm introduced in the preceding paper (paper I) [C. Bratschi and H. Huber, J. Chem. Phys. v126, 164104 (2007)] is applied to two recently published CO2 ab initio pair potentials, the Bock-Bich-Vogel and symmetry-adapted perturbation theory site-site potentials. The critical properties of these potentials are calculated for the first time. Critical values and points in the single and two-phase zones are compared with Monte Carlo results to demonstrate the accuracy of the molecular dynamics algorithm, and are compared with experiment to test the accuracy of the potentials. Pressure calculations in the liquid, gas, and supercritical states are carried out and are used to explain potential-related effects and systematic discrepancies. The best ab initio potential yields results in good agreement with experiment.  相似文献

High-level ab initio CCSD(T) calculations are performed in order to obtain accurate interaction potentials for the Br(-) anion interacting with each rare gas (Rg) atom. For the Rg atoms from He to Ar, two approaches are taken. The first one implements a relativistic core potential and an aug-cc-pVQZ basis set for bromine, an aug-cc-pV5Z basis set for Rg, and a set of bond functions placed at the midpoint of the Rg-Br distance. The second one uses the all-electron approximation with aug-cc-pV5Z bases further augmented by an extra diffuse function in each shell. Comparison reveals close similarity between both sets of results, so for Rg atoms from Kr to Rn only the second approach is exploited. Calculated potentials are assessed against the previous empirical, semiempirical, and ab initio potentials, and against available beam scattering data, zero electron kinetic energy spectroscopic data, and various sets of the measured ion mobilities and diffusion coefficients. This multiproperty analysis leads to the conclusion that the present potentials are consistently good for the whole series of Br(-)-Rg pairs over the whole range of internuclear distances covered.  相似文献

The origin of the potential difference between the potential of zero charge of a metal/water interface and the work function of the metal is a recurring issue because it is related to how water interacts with metal surface in the absence of surface charge. Recently ab initio molecular dynamics method has been used to model electrochemical interfaces to study interfacial potential and the structure of interface water. Here, we will first introduce the computational standard hydrogen electrode method, which allows for ab initio determination of electrode potentials that can be directly compared with experiment. Then, we will review the recent progress from ab initio molecular dynamics simulation in understanding the interaction between water and metal and its impact on interfacial potential. Finally, we will give our perspective for future development of ab initio computational electrochemistry.  相似文献

A simple and efficient internal-coordinate importance sampling protocol for the Monte Carlo computation of (up to fourth-order) virial coefficients ?B(n) of atomic systems is proposed. The key feature is a multivariate sampling distribution that mimics the product structure of the dominating pairwise-additive parts of the ?B(n). This scheme is shown to be competitive over routine numerical methods and, as a proof of principle, applied to neon: The second, third, and fourth virial coefficients of neon as well as equation-of-state data are computed from ab initio two- and three-body potentials; four-body contributions are found to be insignificant. Kirkwood-Wigner quantum corrections to first order are found to be crucial to the observed agreement with recent ab initio and experimental reference data sets but are likely inadequate at very low temperatures.  相似文献

Based on definition of angular central moments, a quantitative measure is proposed for comparative assessment of the anisotropy of different intermolecular potential energy surfaces at different intermolecular distances. Angular spreadness, skewness and peakedness are three features of anisotropy that are used here to describe the distribution of values of interaction energy around its isotropic component. In agreement with qualitative interpretations, the proposed measure exhibits a sharp change in the R-dependent pattern of anisotropy at an intermediate distance where the repulsive forces on the average overcome the attractive ones. The R-dependence of anisotropy of available N(2)-N(2) potentials is examined in comparison with bare ab initio data and considerable discrepancies are found at distances shorter than the onset of repulsion. It is shown that the full experimentally derived potentials with simplified functional forms do not reproduce the correct anisotropy of interaction energy.  相似文献

We have developed new force field and parameters for copper(I) and mercury(II) to be used in molecular dynamics simulations of metalloproteins. Parameters have been derived from fitting of ab initio interaction potentials calculated at the MP2 level of theory, and results compared to experimental data when available. Nonbonded parameters for the metals have been calculated from ab initio interaction potentials with TIP3P water. Due to high charge transfer between Cu(I) or Hg(II) and their ligands, the model is restricted to a linear coordination of the metal bonded to two sulfur atoms. The experimentally observed asymmetric distribution of metal ligand bond lengths (r) is accounted for by the addition of an anharmonic (r3) term in the potential. Finally, the new parameters and potential, introduced into the CHARMM force field, are tested in short molecular dynamics simulations of two metal thiolates fragments in water. (Brooks BR et al. Long-range electrostatic and van der Waals coefficients up to terms of order R(-8) have been evaluated by the sum over states method using ab initio and time-dependent density functional theory. We employ several widely used density functionals and systematically investigate the convergence of the calculated results with basis set size. Static electric moments and polarizabilities up to octopole order are also calculated. We present values for Li(2) through K(2) which are in good agreement with existing values, in addition to new results for Rb(2) and Cs(2). Interaction potential curves calculated from these results are shown to agree well with high level ab initio theory. Preliminary results are reported that demonstrate the applicability of the method to larger alkali clusters.  相似文献
