The aim of this paper is to classify 4-dimensional Einstein-like manifolds whose Ricci tensor has constant eigenvalues (this being a special kind of curvature homogeneity condition). We give a full classification when the Ricci tensor is of Codazzi type; when the Ricci tensor is cyclic parallel, we classify all such manifolds when not all Ricci curvatures are distinct. In this second case we find a one-parameter family of Riemannian metrics on a Lie groupG as the only possible ones which are irreducible and non-symmetric.  相似文献

Riemannian manifolds for which a natural curvature operator has constant eigenvalues on circles are studied. A local classification in dimensions two and three is given. In the 3-dimensional case one gets all locally symmetric spaces and all Riemannian manifolds with the constant principal Ricci curvatures r 1 = r 2 = 0, r 3= 0 , which are not locally homogeneous, in general.  相似文献

We study manifolds where the natural skew-symmetric curvature operator has pointwise constant eigenvalues. We give a local classification (up to isometry) of such manifolds in dimension 4. In dimension 3, we describe such manifolds up to a classification of three - dimensional Riemannian manifolds with principal Ricci curvatures r1 = r2 = 0, r3- arbitrary. We give examples of such manifolds in all dimensions which do not have constant sectional curvature; these manifolds are not pointwise Osserman manifolds in general.  相似文献

Given a real number ε>0, small enough, an associated Jost map Jε between two Riemannian manifolds is defined. Then we prove that connected Riemannian manifolds for which the center of mass of each small geodesic ball is the center of the ball (i.e. for which the identity is a Jε map) are ball-homogeneous. In the analytic case we characterize such manifolds in terms of the Euclidean Laplacian and we show that they have constant scalar curvature. Under some restriction on the Ricci curvature we prove that Riemannian analytic manifolds for which the center of mass of each small geodesic ball is the center of the ball are locally and weakly harmonic.  相似文献

Schur's theorem states that an isotropic Riemannian manifold of dimension greater than two has constant curvature. It is natural to guess that compact almost isotropic Riemannian manifolds of dimension greater than two are close to spaces of almost constant curvature. We take the curvature anisotropy as the discrepancy of the sectional curvatures at a point. The main result of this paper is that Riemannian manifolds in Cheeger's class ℜ(n,d,V,A) withL 1-small integral anisotropy haveL p-small change of the sectional curvature over the manifold. We also estimate the deviation of the metric tensor from that of constant curvature in theW p 2 -norm, and prove that compact almost isotropic spaces inherit the differential structure of a space form. These stability results are based on the generalization of Schur' theorem to metric spaces.  相似文献

We obtain a local smoothing result for Riemannian manifolds with bounded Ricci curvatures in dimension four. More precisely, given a Riemannian metric with bounded Ricci curvature and small L2-norm of curvature on a metric ball, we can find a smooth metric with bounded curvature which is C1,α-close to the original metric on a smaller ball but still of definite size.  相似文献

Stimulated by S. Ohta and W. Wylie, we establish some compactness theorems for complete Riemannian manifolds via m-Bakry–Émery and m-modified Ricci curvatures with negative m. Our results may be considered as generalizations of the classical compactness theorems via Ricci curvature due to S.B. Myers, W. Ambrose, G.J. Galloway, and J. Cheeger, M. Gromov, and M. Taylor, and relax some previous compactness criteria for complete Riemannian manifolds via m-Bakry–Émery and m-modified Ricci curvatures obtained when m is a positive constant or infinity.  相似文献

A class of manifolds which admit an f-structure with s-dimensional parallelizable kernel is introduced and studied. Such manifolds are Kenmotsu manifolds if s = 1, and carry a locally conformal K?hler structure of Kashiwada type when s = 2. The existence of several foliations allows to state some local decomposition theorems. The Ricci tensor together with Einstein-type conditions and f-sectional curvatures are also considered. Furthermore, each manifold carries a homogeneous Riemannian structure belonging to the class of the classification stated by Tricerri and Vanhecke, provided that it is a locally symmetric space. We investigate the immersed hypersurfaces in space forms ℕ n + 1(c), n ≥ 4 with two distinct non-simple principal curvatures without the assumption that the (high order) mean curvature is constant. We prove that any immersed hypersurface in space forms with two distinct non-simple principal curvatures is locally conformal to the Riemannian product of two constant curved manifolds. We also obtain some characterizations for the Clifford hypersurfaces in terms of the trace free part of the second fundamental form.  相似文献

The complete homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifolds of constant non-zero curvature were classified up to isometry in 1961 [1]. In the same year, a structure theory [2] was developed for complete flat homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. Here that structure theory is sharpened to a classification. This completes the classification of complete homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifolds of arbitrary constant curvature.Research partially supported by N.S.F. Grant DMS 93 21285.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study three- and four-dimensional Einstein-like Riemannian manifolds which are Ricci-curvature homogeneous, that is, have constant Ricci eigenvalues. In the three-dimensional case, we present the complete classification of these spaces while, in the four-dimensional case, this classification is obtained in the special case where the manifold is locally homogeneous. We also present explicit examples of four-dimensional locally homogeneous Riemannian manifolds whose Ricci tensor is cyclic-parallel (that is, are of type A) and has distinct eigenvalues. These examples are invalidating an expectation stated by F. Podestá and A. Spiro, and illustrating a striking contrast with the three-dimensional case (where this situation cannot occur). Finally, we also investigate the relation between three- and four-dimensional Einstein-like manifolds of type A and D'Atri spaces, that is, Riemannian manifolds whose geodesic symmetries are volume-preserving (up to sign).  相似文献

The authors give a short survey of previous results on generalized normal homogeneous (δ-homogeneous, in other terms) Riemannian manifolds, forming a new proper subclass of geodesic orbit spaces with nonnegative sectional curvature, which properly includes the class of all normal homogeneous Riemannian manifolds. As a continuation and an application of these results, they prove that the family of all compact simply connected indecomposable generalized normal homogeneous Riemannian manifolds with positive Euler characteristic, which are not normal homogeneous, consists exactly of all generalized flag manifolds Sp(l)/U(1)⋅Sp(l−1)=CP2l−1, l?2, supplied with invariant Riemannian metrics of positive sectional curvature with the pinching constants (the ratio of the minimal sectional curvature to the maximal one) in the open interval (1/16,1/4). This implies very unusual geometric properties of the adjoint representation of Sp(l), l?2. Some unsolved questions are suggested.  相似文献

We study critical metrics for the squared L2-norm functionals of the curvature tensor, the Ricci tensor and the scalar curvature by making use of a curvature identity on 4-dimensional Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

We study curvatures of homogeneous Randers spaces. After deducing the coordinate-free formulas of the flag curvature and Ricci scalar of homogeneous Randers spaces, we give several applications. We first present a direct proof of the fact that a homogeneous Randers space is Ricci quadratic if and only if it is a Berwald space. We then prove that any left invariant Randers metric on a non-commutative nilpotent Lie group must have three flags whose flag curvature is positive, negative and zero, respectively. This generalizes a result of J.A. Wolf on Riemannian metrics. We prove a conjecture of J. Milnor on the characterization of central elements of a real Lie algebra, in a more generalized sense. Finally, we study homogeneous Finsler spaces of positive flag curvature and particularly prove that the only compact connected simply connected Lie group admitting a left invariant Finsler metric with positive flag curvature is SU(2)SU(2).  相似文献

It has been recently shown by Abresch and Rosenberg that a certain Hopf differential is holomorphic on every constant mean curvature surface in a Riemannian homogeneous 3-manifold with isometry group of dimension 4. In this paper we describe all the surfaces with holomorphic Hopf differential in the homogeneous 3-manifolds isometric to H2×R or having isometry group isomorphic either to the one of the universal cover of PSL(2,R), or to the one of a certain class of Berger spheres. It turns out that, except for the case of these Berger spheres, there exist some exceptional surfaces with holomorphic Hopf differential and non-constant mean curvature.  相似文献

We study in this paper previously defined by V.N. Berestovskii and C.P. Plaut δ-homogeneous spaces in the case of Riemannian manifolds and prove that they constitute a new proper subclass of geodesic orbit (g.o.) spaces with non-negative sectional curvature, which properly includes the class of all normal homogeneous Riemannian spaces.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the uniqueness of complete hypersurfaces immersed in a semi-Riemannian warped product whose warping function has convex logarithm and such that its fiber has constant sectional curvature. By using as main analytical tool a suitable maximum principle for complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds and supposing a natural comparison inequality between the r-th mean curvatures of the hypersurface and that ones of the slices of the region where the hypersurface is contained, we are able to prove that a such hypersurface must be, in fact, a slice.  相似文献

A Riemannian g.o. manifold is a homogeneous Riemannian manifold (M,g) on which every geodesic is an orbit of a one-parameter group of isometries. It is known that every simply connected Riemannian g.o. manifold of dimension ?5 is naturally reductive. In dimension 6 there are simply connected Riemannian g.o. manifolds which are in no way naturally reductive, and their full classification is known (including compact examples). In dimension 7, just one new example has been known up to now (namely, a Riemannian nilmanifold constructed by C. Gordon). In the present paper we describe compact irreducible 7-dimensional Riemannian g.o. manifolds (together with their “noncompact duals”) which are in no way naturally reductive.  相似文献
