We recall the presentation of the generalized, complex structures by classical tensor fields, while noticing that one has a similar presentation and the same integrability conditions for generalized, paracomplex and subtangent structures. This presentation shows that the generalized, complex, paracomplex and subtangent structures belong to the realm of Poisson geometry. Then, we prove geometric reduction theorems of Marsden-Ratiu and Marsden-Weinstein type for the mentioned generalized structures and give the characterization of the submanifolds that inherit an induced structure via the corresponding classical tensor fields.  相似文献

The first author and D. Kunszenti-Kovács (2010) [1] proved that if the volume of the intersection of three geodesic balls of a complete connected Riemannian manifold depends only on the center-center distances and the radii of the balls, then the manifold is one of the simply connected spaces of constant curvature. In this paper, we study the geometrical consequences of the analogous condition for pairs of geodesic balls. We show that in a complete, connected and simply connected Riemannian manifold, the volume of the intersection of two small geodesic balls depends only on the distance between the centers and the radii if and only if the space is harmonic. It is also shown that if in a Riemannian manifold the volume of the intersection of two small geodesic balls of equal radii depends only on the distance between the centers and the common value of the radii, then the space is Einstein, and if we assume in addition that the space is symmetric, then it must be Osserman and hence two-point homogeneous.  相似文献

We discuss the question whether a (complete) parallel submanifold M of a Riemannian symmetric space N is an (extrinsically) homogeneous submanifold, i.e. whether there exists a subgroup of the isometries of N which acts transitively on M. In a previous paper, we have discussed this question in case the universal covering space of M is irreducible. It is the subject of this paper to generalize this result to the case when the universal covering space of M has no Euclidian factor.  相似文献

Summary We study minimal and totally geodesic submanifolds in Lie groups and related problems. We show that: (1) The imbedding of the Grassmann manifold GF(n,N) in the Lie group GF(N) defined naturally makes GF(n,N) a totally geodesic submanifold; (2) The imbedding S7SO(8) defined by octonians makes S7a totally geodesic submanifold inSO(8); (3) The natural inclusion of the Lie group GF(N) in the sphere ScN^2-1(√N) of gl(N,F)is minimal. Therefore the natural imbedding GF(N)<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Lucida Sans Unicode"'>→gl(N,F)is formed by the eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on GF(N).  相似文献

In this work we study pseudo-parallel Lagrangian submanifolds in a complex space form. We give several general properties of pseudo-parallel submanifolds. For the 2-dimensional case, we show that any minimal Lagrangian surface is pseudo-parallel. We also give examples of non-minimal pseudo-parallel Lagrangian surfaces. Here we prove a local classification of the pseudo-parallel Lagrangian surfaces. In particular, semi-parallel Lagrangian surfaces are totally geodesic or flat. Finally, we give examples of pseudo-parallel Lagrangian surfaces which are not semi-parallel.  相似文献

In this paper we initiate the study of Lagrangian submanifolds in para-Kähler manifolds. In particular, we prove two general optimal inequalities for Lagrangian submanifolds of the flat para-Kähler manifold . Let M be a topological G2-manifold. We prove that the space of infinitesimal associative deformations of a compact associative submanifold Y with boundary in a coassociative submanifold X is the solution space of an elliptic problem. For a connected boundary ∂Y of genus g, the index is given by Yc1(νX)+1−g, where νX denotes the orthogonal complement of TY in TX|∂Y and c1(νX) the first Chern class of νX with respect to its natural complex structure. We give explicit solutions for the two-component Hunter-Saxton system on the unit circle. Moreover, we show how global weak solutions can be naturally constructed using the geometric interpretation of this system as a re-expression of the geodesic flow on the semidirect product of a suitable subgroup of the diffeomorphism group of the circle with the space of smooth functions on the circle. Considering Riemannian submersions, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for when sub‐Riemannian normal geodesics project to curves of constant first geodesic curvature or constant first and vanishing second geodesic curvature. We describe a canonical extension of the sub‐Riemannian metric and study geometric properties of the obtained Riemannian manifold. The purpose of this paper is to initiate a study of the differential geometry of lightlike (degenerate) submanifolds of semi-Riemannian manifolds.
