A digestion mixture of H2SO4/HNO3/H2O2/HF/V2O5 was investigated for decomposition of plant samples and sensitive detection of selenium was achieved by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS). The method was found to be accurate and reproducible, with a low detection limit (DL) (0.14 ng g−1 solution). The repeatability of the determination was mostly around 10%, the reproducibility over a period of 8 months for determination of selenium in the standard reference material Trace Elements in Spinach Leaves, NIST 1570a, was 9% and the relative measurement uncertainty was 7% using a coverage factor of 2.3 at 95% probability. The average recovery of the whole procedure was 90%. The characteristics of this method are simple and inexpensive equipment, low consumption of chemicals and the ability to analyse many samples in a short time. The whole procedure was carried out in the same PTFE tube, and in addition only a simple cleaning procedure is needed. As a consequence of all these advantages, the described method is suitable for environmental and nutritional studies. The selenium content was determined in 44 vegetable samples from different regions of Slovenia and the contents found were in the range 0.3-77 ng g−1 wet weight. 相似文献

Simultaneous determination of As and Sb by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry was developed with the dielectric barrier discharge plasma as the hydride atomizer. The low-temperature and atmospheric-pressure micro-plasma was generated in a quartz cylindrical configuration device, which was constructed by an axial internal electrode and an outer electrode surrounding outside of the tube. The optimization of the atomizer construction and parameters for hydride generation and fluorescence detection systems were carried out. Under the optimized conditions, the detection limits for As and Sb were 0.04 and 0.05 μg L−1, respectively. In addition, the applicability of the present method was confirmed by the detection of As and Sb in reference materials of quartz sandstone (GBW07106) and argillaceous limestone (GBW07108). The present work provided a new approach to exploit the miniaturized hydride generation dielectric barrier discharge atomic fluorescence spectrometry system for simultaneous multi-element determination. 相似文献

A simple and sensitive method has been developed for the direct determination of toxic species of antimony in mushroom samples by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG AFS). The determination of Sb(III) and Sb(V) was based on the efficiency of hydride generation employing NaBH4, with and without a previous KI reduction, using proportional equations corresponding to the two different measurement conditions. The extraction efficiency of total antimony and the stability of Sb(III) and Sb(V) in different extraction media (nitric, sulfuric, hydrochloric, acetic acid, methanol and ethanol) were evaluated. Results demonstrated that, based on the extraction yield and the stability of extracts, 0.5 mol L− 1 H2SO4 proved to be the best extracting solution for the speciation analysis of antimony in mushroom samples. The limits of detection of the developed methodology were 0.6 and 1.1 ng g− 1 for Sb(III) and Sb(V), respectively. The relative standard derivation was 3.8% (14.7 ng g− 1) for Sb(V) and 5.1% (4.6 ng g− 1) for Sb(III). The recovery values obtained for Sb(III) and Sb(V) varied from 94 to 106% and from 98 to 105%, respectively. The method has been applied to determine Sb(III), Sb(V) and total Sb in five different mushroom samples; the Sb(III) content varied from 4.6 to 11.4 ng g− 1 and Sb(V) from 14.7 to 21.2 ng g− 1. The accuracy of the method was confirmed by the analysis of a certified reference material of tomato leaves. 相似文献

The interferences between arsenic and antimony on each other during the hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HGAAS) determination of arsenic and antimony using a quartz tube atomizer (QTA) were examined. In order to eliminate or reduce such interferences by selective heat decomposition of arsine and stibine, a Pyrex adsorption U-tube trap containing glass wool was placed between the drying tube and the quartz tube atomizer. Although at 250 °C stibine decomposes and is held almost completely by the trap, arsine is also decomposed to an extent of 24% and, therefore, thermal decomposition is not useful to eliminate antimony interference on arsenic determination. The effect of coating the glass wool in the U-tube with antimony on the arsenic suppression of the antimony signal was studied. The results showed that the antimony coating in the U-tube could not hold arsenic effectively and its interference on the antimony signal could not be eliminated by this means. In the second part of the study, oxygen was supplied to the quartz tube atomizer during atomization in order to study the effect of supplying oxygen on the antimony signal and on the interference of arsenic in the antimony determination. Sensitivity was increased in the presence of oxygen and interferences of arsenic on antimony determination was decreased by about 10% when oxygen was supplied. It was also observed that the extent of interferences depended mainly on the interferent concentration rather than the analyte concentration. 相似文献

A new method was developed for simultaneous determination of trace arsenic and antimony in Chinese herbal medicines by hydride generation-double channel atomic fluorescence spectrometry with a Soxhlet extraction system and an n-octanol-water extraction system, respectively. The effects of analytical conditions on the fluorescence intensity were investigated and optimized. A water-dissolving and methanol-water-dissolving capability were compared. The contents of different species in five Chinese herbal medicines and their decoctions were analyzed. The concentration ratios of n-octanol-soluble As or Sb to water-soluble As or Sb were related to the kinds of medicine and the acidity of the decoction. Soxhlet extraction was found to be an effective method for plants pretreatment for determination of arsenic and antimony species in Chinese herbs; the interferences of coexisting ions were evaluated. The proposed method has the advantages of simple operation, high sensitivity and high speed, with 3σ detection limits of 0.094 μg g−1 for As(III), 0.056 μg g−1 for total As, 0.063 μg g−1 for Sb(III) and 0.019 μg g−1 for total Sb in a 1.0 g of the sample. 相似文献

Determination of arsenic and antimony in milk by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry
A highly sensitive procedure has been developed for total arsenic and antimony determination in milk samples by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry after microwave-assisted sample digestion. The discrete introduction of 2 ml of digested sample in the automated continuous flow hydride generation system allows us to reduce drastically the sample and HCl consume and to determine several elements from a same sample digestion. The method provides detection limits of 0.006 and 0.003 ng ml−1, a sensitivity of 2390 and 2840 fluorescence units per ng ml−1 for As and Sb respectively, and average relative standard deviation of 2.3% for As and 4.8% for Sb. The analysis of cow milk samples, obtained from the Spanish market evidenced the presence of As at concentration levels from 3.4 to 11.6 ng g−1 and Sb levels from 3.5 to 11.9 ng g−1, thus in a proportion near to 1:1, which is in contrast with the 10:1 natural ratio between As and Sb and could evidence the effect of the introduction of new alloys and polymer materials in the industrial process of milk. The method was validated by the comparison of data found for commercial samples by using the proposed procedure and reference methods based on dry-ashing and AFS, and microwave-assisted digestion and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry determination. 相似文献

A method was proposed for the determination of zinc by atomic fluorescence spectrometry with hydride generation from surfactant-based organized media. The ability of different nature micelles to improve hydride generation of zinc was investigated using an intermittent flow hydride generator and the possible mechanism was discussed. The advantages of hydride generation from the organized media of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) were contrasted with that from aqueous media in sensitivity and precision of the zinc determination. The micellar media of CTAB improved the hydride generation processes of zinc both thermodynamically and kinetically. In addition some transition metals, presumably metal borides, were found to catalyze the hydrogenation of zinc. The proposed method has been validated by the determination of zinc in the certified reference materials using the standard addition method with satisfactory result. 相似文献

Flame-in-gas shield miniature hydride atomizers (FIGS) have been investigated and evaluated in view of their alternative use to miniature diffusion flame hydride atomizer (MDF) to determination of hydride forming elements by atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS). Chemical vapour generation (CVG) by aqueous phase derivatization by NaBH4 in a continuous flow generator (CF) was employed for the generation of volatile hydrides of As, Sb, Bi, Se, Te and Sn. A dispersive AFS apparatus using electrodeless discharge lamps (EDL) as the excitation sources has been employed for both spectra acquisition and analytical determinations. The characteristics of FIGS in terms of background emission spectra, most intense AF spectral lines and limits of detection were compared with those of most popular MDF. FIGS presents a lower background emission with respect to MDF, allowing also the control of the molecular fluorescence of OH radicals in the determination of bismuth. Limits of detection for FIGS compare very well with to those obtained by MDF giving improvement factor of 5.5, 4.4, 3.6, 3.6, 0.7 an 0.5 for Bi, As, Se, Son, Te and Sb. Accuracy of FIGS has proven by determination of arsenic and antimony in seawater (NASS-5) and river water (SRLS-4) certified reference materials and bismuth in unalloyed copper (CuV 398, CuVI 399) standard reference materials by dispersive CVG-AFS. 相似文献

Hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry was for the first time utilized to determine trace toxic element arsenic in the skeleton fossils of four dinosaurs unearthed in Sichuan Province of China. The instrumental limit of detection (LOD) for arsenic was 0.03 μg/L under optimal experimental conditions, which compared favorably to that by ICP-AES and ETAAS. The samples were digested with aqua regia in boiling water bath. The recoveries of standard addition were found to be from 97 to 109%, and the analytical results were found in good agreement with those by ICP-AES. It is a simple, reliable, sensitive yet relatively inexpensive analytical method, compared to ICP-AES, ICP-MS or ETAAS. Interesting analytical results were found that the arsenic concentrations were all abnormally high in the skeleton fossils. The established analytical method and the analytical results may be helpful in revealing the mystery of the mass extinction of the dinosaur fauna. The analytical results, together with other data available to date, supported the argument that the arsenic toxicosis could be a contributing factor for the mass extinction of the dinosaur fauna in Sichuan Province of China. 相似文献

In this work, the determination of total As in seawater by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry was studied. The influence of the chemical, flow and instrumental parameters were investigated and optimized. The pre-reduction of As(V) to As(III) was performed using KI plus ascorbic acid in 3.5 mol L− 1 HCl medium. No multiplicative interference was present and external aqueous calibration could be used. The limit of detection was 36 ng L− 1, while the repeatability was 2% (n = 10), at a 500 ng L− 1 concentration level. The sample throughput was 15 h− 1 if triplicate measurements were made. The accuracy was assessed by the analysis of a seawater certified reference material and excellent agreement between the obtained and certified values was verified. The procedure was used for the analysis of seawater offshore samples collected at the Brazilian coast and results ranging from 860 to 1200 ng L− 1 were found. 相似文献

An atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) atomizer was investigated for bismuth (Bi) determination with hydride generation (HG) atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS). The characteristics of the atomizer and the effects of experimental parameters, including observation height, discharge power, flow rate of discharge gas and AFS carrier gas were optimized. The linear range of present method for Bi determination is 0.5-300.0 μg L−1 with a detection limit of 0.07 μg L−1 (3σ). The method was validated by the analysis of reference materials (GBW08517 and GSB-14) and the results agreed well with the reference values. The established method was applied to the determination of Bi in ore, soil and ash samples. 相似文献

A simple, sensitive and accurate method for selenium speciation in natural waters is proposed. The principle of this method is based on recently discovered photochemical reactions of Se(IV) and organic selenium in different aqueous solutions. The speciation of all selenium species was performed with hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry. Only one pre-reduction step is needed in this procedure, which can greatly reduce the risk of contamination, minimize the analytical work and improve the quality of selenium speciation. In this paper, a comparison is made between the proposed method and a previous method [A.G. Cutter, Anal. Chim. Acta 98 (1978) 59]. In this proposed protocol, Se(IV) was directly measured in 3.0 M HCl. Se(IV) + org-Se was measured directly after a UV irradiation (300 nm) for 2.5 h in a 1.0% (v/v) HNO3-2.0% (v/v) HCl matrix. Total selenium was obtained in another aliquot sample after a UV irradiation in the 3.0 M HCl. No pre-concentration, separation or more sophisticated instruments are required. 相似文献

A separation method utilizing a synthetic zeolite (mordenite) was developed in order to eliminate the gas phase interference of Sb(III) on As(III) during quartz furnace hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric (HGAAS) determination. The efficiency of the proposed separation method in the reduction of suppression effects of transition metal ions on As(III) signal was also investigated. Among the volatile hydride-forming elements and their different oxidation states tested (Sb(III), Sb(V), Se(IV), Se(VI), Te(IV), and Te(VI)), only Sb(III) was found to have a signal depression effect even at low (μg l−1) concentrations under the experimental conditions employed. It has been shown that mordenite adsorbs Sb(III) quantitatively, even at a concentration of 1000 μg l−1, at pHs greater than two, and also, it reduces the initial concentrations of the transition metal ions to lower levels which can be tolerated in many studies. The adsorption of Sb(III) on mordenite follows the Freundlich isotherm and is endothermic in nature. 相似文献

The performance of a microwave plasma torch (MPT) discharge atomic emission spectrometry (AES) system directly coupled with hydride generation (HG) for the determination of As and Sb has been studied. The argon MPT system can sustain a stable plasma over a wide range of carrier and support gas flow rates with optimum performance at 250 and 1450 ml min−1, respectively. The presence of trace amount of water in the MPT discharge is found to affect the detection limits and the signal to noise ratio. A PTFE membrane separator is applied for hydride introduction and water rejection. In addition, the membrane cell separator also improves the signal to noise ratio by serving as a pressure buffer to minimize noise due to pressure fluctuation. Detection limits (3σ) of 8.1 and 3.2 ng ml−1 are obtained with the analytical lines As I 228.812 nm and Sb I 259.809 nm, respectively at an MPT power of 135 W. The detection limits are improved when a concentrated sulfuric acid cell is placed after the membrane cell to further remove water. This double cell system yields detection limits of 5.3 and 2.1 ng ml−1 for As and Sb, respectively under the same operating conditions. Linear dynamic ranges of three orders of magnitude could be obtained. 相似文献

The capabilities and limitations of the continuous flow injection hydride generation technique, coupled to atomic absorption spectrometry, for the speciation of major antimony species in seawater, were investigated. Two pre-concentration techniques were examined. After continuous flow injection hydride generation and collection onto a graphite tube coated with iridium, antimony was determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The low detection limits obtained (∼5 ng l−1 for Sb(III) and ∼10 ng l−1 for Sb(V) for 2.5 ml seawater samples) permitted the determination of Sb(III) and total antimony in seawater with the use of selective hydride generation and on-line UV photooxidation. The number of samples that can be analyzed is about 15 per hour for Sb(III) determinations and 10 per hour for total antimony determinations. The analysis of seawater samples showed that Sb(V) was the predominant species, even in the presence of important biological activity. 相似文献

UV photochemical vapor generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometric determination of conventional hydride generation elements 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A systematic investigation of UV photochemical vapor generation (photo-CVG) and its potential application for seven typical hydride-forming elements (As, Sb, Bi, Te, Sn, Pb and Cd) when combined with atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS) detection is presented. These analyte ions were converted to volatile species following UV irradiation of their aqueous solution to which low molecular weight organic acids (such as formic, acetic or propionic acid) had been added, and introduced to an atomic fluorescence spectrometer for subsequent analytical measurements. The experimental conditions for photo-CVG and the interferences arising from concomitant elements were carefully investigated. Limits of detection as low as 0.08, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.5 ng mL− 1 were obtained for Te, Bi, Sb and As, respectively, comparable to those by hydride generation-AFS. The RSDs obtained with the proposed method for these elements were better than 5% at 50 ng mL− 1. It is noteworthy that the presence of TiO2 nanoparticles combined with UV irradiation remarkably enhances the CVG efficiencies of Se(VI) and Te(VI), which cannot form hydrides with KBH4/NaBH4. Moreover, photo-CVG has a greater tolerance toward interferences arising from transition elements than hydride generation, and this facilitates its application to the analysis of complicated sample matrices. 相似文献

The analytical performance of a miniature quartz trap coupled with electrochemical hydride generator for antimony determination is described. A portion of the inlet arm of the conventional quartz tube atomizer was used as an integrated trap medium for on-line preconcentration of electrochemically generated hydrides. This configuration minimizes transfer lines and connections. A thin-layer of electrochemical flow through cell was constructed. Lead and platinum foils were employed as cathode and anode materials, respectively. Experimental operation conditions for hydride generation as well as the collection and revolatilization conditions for the generated hydrides in the inlet arm of the quartz tube atomizer were optimized. Interferences of copper, nickel, iron, cobalt, arsenic, selenium, lead and tin were examined both with and without the trap. 3σ limit of detection was estimated as 0.053 μg l− 1 for a sample size of 6.0 ml collected in 120 s. The trap has provided 18 fold sensitivity improvement as compared to electrochemical hydride generation alone. The accuracy of the proposed technique was evaluated with two standard reference materials; Trace Metals in Drinking Water, Cat # CRM-TMDW and Metals on Soil/Sediment #4, IRM-008. 相似文献
