An M2L4 coordination capsule or an M2L2 coordination tube was selectively formed by the combination of HgII hinges and bent bispyridine ligands. The two structures reversibly interconvert at room temperature in response to modulation of the metal‐to‐ligand ratio and exhibit different host–guest interaction behavior. The capsule alone encapsulates large spherical molecules, fullerenes C60 and C70, and the bound guests are released upon capsule‐to‐tube transformation by the simple addition of metal ions.  相似文献

Synthesis of molecular containers capable of incorporating multiple fullerenes remains challenging. Reported here is that room‐temperature mixing of metal ions with W‐shaped bispyridine ligands featuring polyaromatic panels results in the quantitative formation of a peanut‐shaped M2L4 capsule. The capsule reversibly converts into two molecules of an ML2 double tube in response to changes in the solvent. Notably, the capsule allows the incorporation of two fullerene molecules into the connected two spherical cavities at room temperature. The close proximity yet non‐contact of the encapsulated C60 molecules, with a separation of 6.4 Å, was revealed by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. The resultant, unusual fullerene dimer undergoes sequential reduction within the capsule to generate (C60.?)2, C60.??C602?, and (C602?)2 species. Furthermore, temperature‐controlled stepwise incorporation of two C60 molecules into the capsule is demonstrated.  相似文献

This article reports that an M2L4 molecular capsule is capable of encapsulating various neutral molecules in quantitative yields. The capsule was obtained as a single product by mixing a small number of components; two PdII ions and four bent bispyridine ligands containing two anthracene panels. Detailed studies of the host capability of the PdII‐linked capsule revealed that spherical (e.g., paracyclophane, adamantanes, and fullerene C60), planar (e.g., pyrenes and triphenylene), and bowl‐shaped molecules (e.g., corannulene) were encapsulated in the large spherical cavity, giving rise to 1:1 and 1:2 host–guest complexes, respectively. The volume of the encapsulated guest molecules ranged from 190 to 490 Å3. Within the capsule, the planar guests adopt a stacked‐dimer structure and the bowl‐shaped guests formed an unprecedented concave‐to‐concave capsular structure, which are fully shielded by the anthracene shell. Competitive binding experiments of the capsule with a set of the planar guests established a preferential binding series for pyrenes≈phenanthrene>triphenylene. Furthermore, the capsule showed the selective formation of an unusual ternary complex in the case of triphenylene and corannulene.  相似文献

Host functions of polyaromatic nanocavities were revealed by using an M2L4 molecular cage and capsule. On the basis of the previously reported M2L4 capsule with a closed polyaromatic cavity, a new M2L4 cage (as a mixture of the isomers) was prepared by the quantitative assembly of two metal ions and four desymmetrized bispyridine ligands with a single polyaromatic panel. The obtained, open nanocavity of the cage exhibited enhanced binding abilities toward large dyes and pigments in water. For example, two molecules of coumarin dyes were bound in the nanocavity and showed strong whitish emission (up to ΦF=34 %). Furthermore, metallopigments, the sizes of which are larger than the inner cavities of the cage and capsule, were bound only in the open polyaromatic nanocavity of the cage to give water-soluble 1:1 host–guest complexes.  相似文献

The synthesis of a stereochemically pure concave tribenzotriquinacene receptor ( 7 ) for C60 fullerene, possessing C3 point group symmetry, by threefold condensation of C2‐symmetric 1,2‐diketone synthons ( 5 ) and a hexaaminotribenzotriquinacene core ( 6 ) is described. The chiral diketone was synthesized in a five‐step reaction sequence starting from C2h‐symmetric 2,6‐di‐tert‐butylanthracene. The highly diastereo‐discriminating Diels–Alder reaction of 2,6‐di‐tert‐butylanthracene with fumaric acid di(?)menthyl ester, catalyzed by aluminium chloride, is the relevant stereochemistry introducing step. The structure of the fullerene receptor was verified by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and single crystal X‐ray diffraction. VCD and ECD spectra were recorded, which were corroborated by ab initio DFT calculations, establishing the chiral nature of 7 with about 99.7 % ee, based on the ee (99.9 %) of the chiral synthon ( 1 ). The absolute configuration of 7 could thus be established as all‐S [(2S,7S,16S,21S,30S,35S)‐( 7 )]. Spectroscopic titration experiments reveal that the host forms 1:1 complexes with either pure fullerene (C60) or fullerene derivatives, such as rotor 1′‐(4‐nitrophenyl)‐3′‐(4‐N,N‐dimethylaminophenyl)‐pyrazolino[4′,5′:1,2][60]fullerene ( R ). The complex stability constants of the complexes dissolved in CHCl3/CS2 (1:1 vol. %) are K([ C60 ? 7 ])=319(±156) M ?1 and K([ R ? 7 ])=110(±50) M ?1. With molecular dynamics simulations using a first‐principles parameterized force field the asymmetry of the rotational potential for [ R ? 7 ] was shown, demonstrating the potential suitability of receptor 7 to act as a stator in a unidirectionally operating nanoratchet.  相似文献

The combination of a bent diamino(nickel(II) porphyrin) with 2‐formylpyridine and FeII yielded an FeII4L6 cage. Upon treatment with the fullerenes C60 or C70, this cage was found to transform into a new host–guest complex incorporating three FeII centers and four porphyrin ligands, in an arrangement that is hypothesized to maximize π interactions between the porphyrin units of the host and the fullerene guest bound within its central cavity. The new complex shows coordinative unsaturation at one of the FeII centers as the result of the incommensurate metal‐to‐ligand ratio, which enabled the preparation of a heterometallic cone‐shaped CuIFeII2L4 adduct of C60 or C70.  相似文献

Guest‐induced M18L6–M24L8 capsule–capsule conversion is reported. Both capsules are composed of PdII ethylenediamine units (M) and 1,3,5‐tris(3,5‐pyrimidyl)pyrimidine (L), and form trigonal bipyramidal (M18L6) and octahedral (M24L8) closed‐shell structures with huge hydrophobic inner spaces. The M18L6 trigonal bipyramid is converted to the M24L8 octahedron through encapsulation of large aromatic guests, with the latter capsule possessing a cavity volume three times larger than the former. Despite the dynamic properties of the capsule host, the encapsulated guests are difficult to extract and are thus isolated from the external environment.  相似文献

Reaction of C63NO2(Ph)2(Py) ( 1 ) with o‐phenylenediamine and pyridine produces a mixture of C63H4NO2(Ph)2(Py)(N2C6H4) ( 2 ) and H2O@ 2 . Compound 2 is a new open‐cage fullerene containing a 20‐membered heterocyclic orifice, which has been fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy, high‐resolution mass spectrometry, and X‐ray crystallography. The elliptical orifice of 2 spans 7.45 Å along the major axis and 5.62 Å along the minor axis, which is large enough to trap water and small organic molecules. Thus, heating a mixture of 2 and H2O@ 2 with hydrogen cyanide and formaldehyde in chlorobenzene affords HCN@ 2 and H2CO@ 2 , respectively. The 1H NMR spectroscopy reveals substantial upfield shifts for the endohedral species (δ=?1.30 to ?11.30 ppm), owing to the strong shielding effect of the fullerene cage.  相似文献

Construction of new effective photovoltaic devices based on organic dyes has important implications for modern and future technologies. In this article, we studied the equilibrium, the rate, and the spectral manifestation of the reaction of [(2,3,7,8,12,18-hexamethyl,13,17-diethyl,5-(2-pyridyl)porphyrinato)cobalt(II)]–[2′-(pyridin-4-yl)-5′-(pyridin-2-yl)-1′-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-2′,4′-dihydro-1′H-pyrrolo[3′,4′ : 1,2](C60-Ih)[5,6]fullerene] triad formation as well as its spectral properties and photo electrochemical behavior. The cobalt porphyrin–pyridyl-substituted fullerene mixtures in toluene are self-assembling systems due to axial donor–acceptor binding between Co of the porphyrin complex and N-pyridyl of the substituted fullerene. The formation rate constant, k298K, and the stability constant, K298K, of donor–acceptor triad formed by coordination of two substituted fullerene molecules to Co porphyrin are (44.4 ± 0.8) mol L?1 s?1 and (56 ± 16)×107 L2 mol?2, respectively. Modification of the titanium electrode coated with the natural oxide film was carried out using the porphyrin–fullerene triad and its individual components. Photopotential and photocurrent density of the system with modified electrode were studied. The obtained results are of interest for creating porphyrin-based donor–acceptor systems as components in organic photovoltaics.  相似文献

A method for the facile synthesis of tetraaryl-trimethylsilylmethyl-hydro[60]fullerenes, C60Ar4(CH2SiMeR)H, has been developed in which readily prepared anionic mono(silylmethyl) fullerene is subjected to reaction conditions for organocopper-mediated multiple addition. Penta(organo)fullerene derivatives bearing different substituents and diverse functionality were synthesized in moderate to good yield under simple and mild reaction conditions. Further organic and organometallic transformations of these fullerenes allowed us to synthesize transition-metal complexes and a new methanofullerene derivative, 1,9-methano-6,12,15,18-tetraphenyl[60]fullerene, C60Ph4(CH2).  相似文献

By introducing slight structural modifications to a D4‐symmetric coordination capsule, we succeeded in isolating the nearly enantiopure capsules (P)‐ and (M)‐ 2 a (BF4)4. Chiral guest, dibenzyl 4,4′‐diacetoxy‐6,6′‐dimethyl‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐2,2′‐dicarboxylate ( 3 ) was encapsulated within the dissymmetric cavity of 2 a (BF4)4, resulting in a high diastereoselectivity of >99 % de. The encapsulated guest was successfully removed from the complex without racemization through precipitation of the empty capsule. CD spectra confirmed that the chirality of the capsule was maintained in THF and 1,4‐dioxane for long periods, whereas a small amount of acetonitrile accelerated racemization of the empty capsule. The activation parameters of the racemization reaction were determined in dichloromethane and 1,2‐dichloroethane, resulting in positive enthalpic contributions and large negative entropic contributions, respectively. Accordingly, the racemization fits a first‐order kinetic model. Mechanically coupled Cu+‐2,2′‐bipyridine coordination centers were responsible for the high‐energy barrier of racemization and led to the unique chiral memory of the dissymmetric cavity, which was turned off by the addition of acetonitrile.  相似文献

The inclusion complexes of sulfonated thiacalix[4]arene 1 and calix[6]arene 2 sodium salts with C60 fullerene were investigated by photoluminescence (PL) and quantum-chemical methods. The stoichiometries of calixarene/C60 complexes were found to be 2:1 for 1 and 1:1 for 2. Related quantum-chemical investigations show that C60 fullerene is included in a cavity composed of two half-bowl molecules of 1. The C60 fullerene ball is located deep within the cavity of 2 and the negatively charged sulfonate arms probably inhibit the formation of the bowl-shaped capsule that was observed in the case of 1.  相似文献

The synthesis of (E)-hex-3-ene-l, 5-diynes and 3-methylidenepenta-1, 4-diynes with pendant methano[60]-fullerene moieties as precursors to C60-substituted poly(triacetylenes) (PTAs, Fig. 1) and expanded radialenes (Fig. 2) is described. The Bingel reaction of diethyl (E)-2, 3-dialkynylbut-2-ene-1, 4-diyl bis(2-bromopropane-dioates) 5 and 6 with two C60 molecules (Scheme 2) afforded the monomeric, silyl-protected PTA precursors 9 and 10 which, however, could not be effectively desilylated (Scheme 4). Also formed during the synthesis of 9 and 10 , as well as during the reaction of C60 with thedesilylated analogue 16 (Scheme 5 ), were the macrocyclic products 11, 12 , and 17 , respectively, resulting from double Bingel addition to one C-sphere. Rigorous analysis revealed that this novel macrocyclization reaction proceeds with complete regio- and diastereoselectivity. The second approach to a suitable PTA monomer attempted N, N′-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC)-mediated esterification of (E)-2, 3-diethynylbut-2-ene-l, 4-diol ( 18 , Scheme 6) with mono-esterified methanofullerene-dicarboxylic acid 23 ; however, this synthesis yielded only the corresponding decarboxylated methanofullerene-carboxylic ester 27 (Scheme 7). To prevent decarboxylation, a spacer was inserted between the reacting carboxylic-acid moiety and the methane C-atom in carboxymethyl ethyl 1, 2-methano[60]fullerene-61, 61-dicarboxylate ( 28 , Scheme 8), and DCC-mediated esterification with diol 18 afforded PTA monomer 32 in good yield. The formation of a suitable monomeric precursor 38 to C60-substituted expanded radialenes was achieved in 5 steps starting from dihydroxyacetone (Schemes 9 and 10), with the final step consisting of the DCC-mediated esterification of 28 with 2-[1-ethynyl(prop-2-ynylidene)]propane-1, 3-diol ( 33 ). The first mixed C60-C70 fullerene derivative 49 , consisting of two methano[60]fullerenes attached to a methano[70]fullerene, was also prepared and fully characterized (Scheme 13). The Cs-symmetrical hybrid compound was obtained by DCC-mediated esterification of bis[2-(2-hydroxy-ethoxy)ethyl] 1, 2-methano[70]fullerene-71, 71-dicarboxylate ( 46 ) with an excess of the C60-carboxylic acid 28 . The presence of two different fullerenes in the same molecule was reflected by its UV/VIS spectrum, which displayed the characteristic absorption bands of both the C70 and C60 mono-adducts, but at the same time indicated no electronic interaction between the different fullerene moieties. Cyclic voltammetry showed two reversible reduction steps for 49 , and comparison with the corresponding C70 and C60 mono-adducts 46 and 30 indicated that the three fullerenes in the composite fullerene compound behave as independent redox centers.  相似文献

A unique ligand design allows the formation of both an M2L3 triple helicate and an M4L6 tetrahedron (M=Ti, Ga; L=ligand based on 2,6-diaminoanthracene). Although the tetrahedron is entropically disfavored, a strong host–guest interaction with Me4N+ is enough to drive the equilibrium towards the tetrahedron. Remarkably, the helicate can be quantitatively converted into the tetrahedron simply by addition of Me4N+ (shown schematically).  相似文献

Treatment of the open‐cage fullerene C63H4NO2(Ph)2(Py)(N2C6H4) ( 1 ) with methanol at 150 °C results in an orifice‐enlargement reaction to give C69H8NO(CO2Me)(Ph)(Py)(N2C6H4) ( 2 ). The overall yield from C60 to isolated 2 is 6.1 % (four steps). Compound 2 contains a 24‐membered elliptic orifice that spans 8.45 Å along the major axis and 6.37 Å along the minor axis. The skeleton of 2 resembles the hypothetic C60H10 (5,5)‐carbon nanotube endcap. The cup‐shaped structure of 2 is able to include water, hydrogen cyanide, and acetylene, forming H2O@ 2 , HCN@ 2 , and C2H2@ 2 , respectively. The molecular structures of H2O@ 2 and HCN@ 2 have been determined by X‐ray crystallography. The 1H NMR spectra reveal substantial upfield shifts for the endohedral species, such as δ=?10.30 (for H2O), ?2.74 and ?14.26 (for C2H2), and ?1.22 ppm (for HCN), owing to the strong shielding effects of the fullerene cage.  相似文献

We present the construction of a M2L4-type metal-organic nanocage featuring four endohedral Feringa's motor motifs and its adaptive encapsulation towards a C60 guest molecule. The structure of the cage, though complicated on the 1H NMR spectrum due to the adoption of mixed ligands, was unambiguously characterized with a combination of ESI-MS, 2D DOSY, 13C NMR and particularly the SAXS technique. The molecular motor within the cage demonstrated similar photophysical properties to the uncoordinated one, indicating the motor's function was not compromised when it was anchored in such a confined nanospace. Furthermore, the nanocage showed good guest encapsulation ability towards C60, and a guest induced-fit behavior of the cage was revealed based on the extensive SAXS analysis and molecular dynamics simulation. The adaptive motorized nanocage reported here represents one of the very few examples of integrating individual motors into a discrete nanoconfined system and offers prospects to achieve its non-equilibrium functions.  相似文献

The formation of a porphyrin–fullerene dyad from 2′-(pyridin-4-yl)-5′-(pyridin-2-yl)-1′-(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-2′,5′-dihydro-1′H-pyrrolo[3′,4′: 1,9](C60-Ih)[5,6]fullerene and (2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethylporphyrinato) manganese(III) with axial chloride ligand has been studied on a quantitative level with the goal of obtaining supramolecules possessing biological activity. Preliminarily, the reaction of manganese(III) porphyrin with pyridine has been studied. The donor–acceptor dyads are formed either instantaneously and reversibly (pyridine) or slowly and irreversibly (substituted fullerene). In both cases, the reaction is a one-step process for which thermodynamic and kinetic parameters have been determined. The results can be used to optimize conditions for the synthesis of porphyrin–fullerene dyads. The obtained dyads have been characterized by spectral data and stability constants.  相似文献

An oxacalix[2]arene[2]pyrimidine-bis(ZnII-porphyrin) conjugate was readily prepared via nucleophilic aromatic substitution of a phenolic AB3-Zn-porphyrin on the upper rim of a (1,3-alternate) 5,17-bis(methylsulfonyl)oxacalix[4]arene precursor. Efficient 1:1 complex formation between the ‘jaws’ bisporphyrin tweezer and fullerene C70 was evidenced by 1H NMR titrations (K = 3.0 × 104 M−1), while no detectable complexation could be observed with C60. On the other hand, an analogous oxacalix[4]arene-bis(Cu-corrole) conjugate did not show any measurable (C60 or C70) fullerene binding.  相似文献

An organic–inorganic hybrid was prepared by simply mixing a fullerene derivative with polymethoxysiloxane. First, C60 was subjected to a radical addition reaction with 4,4′-azobis(4-cyanovaleric acid) to provide a C60 derivative. Polymethoxysiloxane was prepared by a controlled hydrolytic condensation of tetramethoxysilane. These two compounds were mixed and heated to provide hybrid bulk body. The hybrid bulk body showed high mechanical strength and elastic modulus compared with polymethoxysiloxane or the C60/polymethoxysiloxane hybrid. The formation of a dense siloxane network was established by a homogeneous mixing of the C60 derivative with polymethoxysiloxane.  相似文献

A novel [60]fullerene pearl-necklace polymer, poly(4,4′-carbonylbisphenylene trans-2-[60]fullerenobisacetamide), was synthesized by a direct polycondensation of trans-2-[60]fullerenobisacetic acid with 4,4′-diaminobenzophenone in the presence of large excesses of triphenyl phosphite and pyridine. In the present polymer, [60]fullerene pearls and diamine linkers were attached to each other by methano-carbonyl connectors. The molecular weight Mw of the polymer was determined to be 4.5 × 104 on the basis of the TOF-MS, and a GPC analysis of the polymer using polystyrene standards showed a weight-average molecular weight of 5.3 × 104. The UV-vis spectrum of the resultant polymer in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) exhibited a broad absorption (λmax 310 nm, ε 2.1 × 104 L · mol−1 · cm−1), tailing to longer wavelengths, and a fluorenscence peak centered at 550 nm was observed in DMAc. There was observed a large downfield-shift of the cyclopropane methyne proton in the 1H-NMR spectra from 4.57 ppm of the ethyl ester to 5.78 ppm of the polyamide. These observations indicate that the present polyamide is a high-molecular-weight [60]fullerene pearl-necklace polymer and that the cyclopropane rings are efficient to make the [60]fullerene cages and the diamine components conjugatable. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
