Multichromophoric dyes for use in tumor imaging have been synthesized and photophysically characterized. Structurally, these dyes are dyads and triads that consist of one or two carotenoid polyenes covalently attached to hematoporphyrin (HP) or hematoporphyrin dimethyl ester (HPDME) moieties via ester linkages. The ground-state absorption of each compound shows that the electronic interaction between the chromophores is small. The fluorescence quantum yield for the dyad monocar-oteno- HPDME is 0.033 and the dicaroteno-HPDME triads have yields between 0.016 and 0.007, all of which are reduced with respect to the parent compound HPDME (0.09). Global analysis of the transient fluorescence decays of the dyads and triads requires two exponential components (?5–6ns and ?1–2ns) to fit the data, while a single exponential component with a lifetime of 9.3 ns describes the decay data of the parent HPDME. Possible mechanisms for the observed porphyrin fluorescence quenching by the nearby carotenoid are discussed. Nanosecond transient absorption reveals a carotene triplet with maximum absorption at 560 nm and a 5.0 μs lifetime. No transient was detected at 450 nm, indicating rapid (10 ns) triplet energy transfer from the hematoporphyrin to the carotenoid moieties in fluid as well as in rigid media. The yield of triplet energy transfer from the porphyrin to the carotenoid moiety is unity. Singlet oxygen, O2(1δg), studies support the transient absorption data, as none of these compounds is capable of sensitizing O2(1δg). Liposome vesicles were used to study the photophysical characteristics of the dyes in phospholipid membranes. Singlet oxygen was not sensitized by the dyads and triads in liposomes. Transient absorption measurements suggest that the triads are substantially aggregated within the phospholipid bilayer, whereas aggregation in the dyads is less severe.  相似文献

The F3YLi…NCH…HMH and F3YLi…HMH…HCN triads (Y=C, Si; M=Be, and Mg) are connected by lithium and dihydrogen bonds. To understand the properties of the systems better, the corresponding dyads are also studied. Molecular geometries, binding energies, infrared spectra and NMR properties of monomers, dyads, and triads are investigated at the MP2/6‐311++G** computational level. Particular attention is paid to parameters, such as cooperative energies, and many‐body interaction energies. Triads with the HMH molecule located at the end of the chain, show energetic cooperativity ranging between ?3.66 to ?7.59 kJ mol‐1. When the HMH molecule is located in the middle, the obtained cluster is diminutive with an energetic effect between 3.49 to 5.17 kJ mol‐1. The electronic properties of the complexes are analyzed using parameters derived from the atoms in molecules (AIM) methodology.  相似文献

This work presents a joint theoretical and experimental characterisation of the structural and electronic properties of two tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)‐based acceptor–donor–acceptor triads (BQ–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ–TTF—BTCNQ; BQ is naphthoquinone and BTCNQ is benzotetracyano‐p‐quinodimethane) in their neutral and reduced states. The study is performed with the use of electrochemical, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and UV/Vis/NIR spectroelectrochemical techniques guided by quantum‐chemical calculations. Emphasis is placed on the mixed‐valence properties of both triads in their radical anion states. The electrochemical and EPR results reveal that both BQ–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ–TTF–BTCNQ triads in their radical anion states behave as class‐II mixed‐valence compounds with significant electronic communication between the acceptor moieties. Density functional theory calculations (BLYP35/cc‐pVTZ), taking into account the solvent effects, predict charge‐localised species (BQ . ?–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ . ?–TTF–BTCNQ) as the most stable structures for the radical anion states of both triads. A stronger localisation is found both experimentally and theoretically for the BTCNQ–TTF–BTCNQ anion, in accordance with the more electron‐withdrawing character of the BTCNQ acceptor. CASSCF/CASPT2 calculations suggest that the low‐energy, broad absorption bands observed experimentally for the BQ–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ–TTF–BTCNQ radical anions are associated with the intervalence charge transfer (IV‐CT) electronic transition and two nearby donor‐to‐acceptor CT excitations. The study highlights the molecular efficiency of the electron‐donor TTF unit as a molecular wire connecting two acceptor redox centres.  相似文献

Time resolved fluorescence of the benzyl, monomethylbenzyl and dimethylbenzyl radicals strapped in rigid solvents at low temperatures has been observed using the second harmonic of the ruby laser at the exciting source. The fluorescence lifetimes of these radicals are very long (10?7–10?6 sec), which are influenced considerably by the methyl substituents. The long fluorescence lifetimes of the benzyl radical and its methyl derivatives are interpreted in terms of the forbidden character of the first doublet-doublet electronic transition.  相似文献

Fusion of two N‐annulated perylene (NP) units with a fused porphyrin dimer along the S0–S1 electronic transition moment axis has resulted in new near‐infrared (NIR) dyes 1 a / 1 b with very intense absorption (ε>1.3×105 M ?1 cm?1) beyond 1250 nm. Both compounds displayed moderate NIR fluorescence with fluorescence quantum yields of 4.4×10?6 and 6.0×10?6 for 1 a and 1 b , respectively. The NP‐substituted porphyrin dimers 2 a / 2 b have also been obtained by controlled oxidative coupling and cyclodehydrogenation, and they showed superimposed absorptions of the fused porphyrin dimer and the NP chromophore. The excited‐state dynamics of all of these compounds have been studied by femtosecond transient absorption measurements, which revealed porphyrin dimer‐like behaviour. These new chromophores also exhibited good nonlinear optical susceptibility with large two‐photon absorption cross‐sections in the NIR region due to extended π‐conjugation. Time‐dependent density functional theory calculations have been performed to aid our understanding of their electronic structures and absorption spectra.  相似文献

Strong push-pull interactions between electron donor, diaminoazobenzene (azo), and an electron acceptor, perylenediimide (PDI), entities in the newly synthesized A−D−A type triads (A=electron acceptor and D=electron donor) and the corresponding A−D dyads are shown to reveal wide-band absorption covering the entire visible spectrum. Electrochemical studies revealed the facile reduction of PDI and relatively easier oxidation of diaminoazobenzene in the dyads and triads. Charge transfer reversal using fluorescence-spectroelectrochemistry wherein the PDI fluorescence recovery upon one-electron oxidation, deterring the charge-transfer interactions, was possible to accomplish. The charge transfer state density difference and the frontier orbitals from the DFT calculations established the electron-deficient PDI to be an electron acceptor and diaminoazobenzene to be an electron donor resulting in energetically closely positioned PDI δ− -Azo δ+ -PDI δ− quadrupolar charge-transfer states in the case of triads and Azo δ+ -PDI δ− dipolar charge-transfer states in the case of dyads. Subsequent femtosecond transient absorption spectral studies unequivocally proved the occurrence of excited-state charge transfer in these dyads and triads in benzonitrile wherein the calculated forward charge transfer rate constants, kf, were limited to instrument response factor, meaning >1012 s−1 revealing the occurrence of ultrafast photo-events. The charge recombination rate constant, kr, was found to depend on the type of donor-acceptor conjugates, that is, it was possible to establish faster kr in the case of triads (∼1011 s−1) compared to dyads (∼1010 s−1). Modulating both ground and excited-state properties of PDI with the help of strong quadrupolar and dipolar charge transfer and witnessing ultrafast charge transfer events in the studied triads and dyads is borne out from the present study.  相似文献

The effects of acceptor–donor interactions in thienyl substituted benzimidazole-nitronyl nitroxides (TBNN) on the absorption spectroscopy, spin density distribution, magnetic behavior, and crystallographic packing were explored through spectroscopy, computation, and characterization of structure and magnetic properties in the crystalline phase. The electronic spectra of the radicals exhibit a strong broad absorption in the NIR (λmax  1000 nm) that exhibits solvatochromism consistent with charge transfer between the thienyl (donor) and benzonitronyl nitroxide (acceptor) dyads. Computational analysis allowed assignment of the transition as a HOMO–SOMO transition (TD-DFT UB3LYP/6-31G7). The TBNN radicals form highly disordered slipped π-stacks in the solid state that give rise to antiferromagnetic interactions consistent with 1D chain interactions. The magnetic behavior was well-fit to a Bonner–Fisher model to give exchange parameters of J = ?2 to ?10 cm?1 depending on substitution. The weak exchange parameters are attributed to the degree of solid-state disorder, and the observed properties can be rationalized by the effects of substitution on the electronic structure and topology of the radicals.  相似文献

A novel series of pyrene derivatives 3-6 functionalized with different aromatic substituents at 2,7-positions of the pyrene core have been readily synthesized by Suzuki coupling reactions. Single crystals suitable for X-ray crystallographic analysis of compounds 3-6 were all successfully obtained. The optical, electrochemical, and thermal properties of these newly synthesized compounds were thoroughly investigated and discussed. Theoretical calculation was adopted to study the geometric and electronic structure of compounds 3-6. Additionally, preliminary studies demonstrated that field-effect transistors using compound 3, 5, and 6 performed as p-type semiconductors, in which a field-effect mobility as high as 0.018 cm2 V−1 s−1 and current on/off ratio of 106 were achieved from compound 6.  相似文献

Two new heptamethine cyanine dye–fullerene C60 covalently- linked dyads, which absorb in far-red and NIR spectral regions, have been synthesized by esterification click reaction and characterized by physicochemical methods. No significant fluorescence quenching was found due to weak electronic coupling between heptamethine moiety and fullerene core, which was confirmed by photophysical and electrochemical methods. Such dyads can be useful for cell imaging and fluorescence diagnostics of various fullerene derivatives.  相似文献

A simple, one‐step, supramolecular strategy was adopted to synthesize SnIV‐porphyrin‐based axially bonded triads and higher oligomers by using meso‐pyridyl SnIV porphyrin, meso‐hydroxyphenyl‐21,23‐dithiaporphyrin, and RuII porphyrin as building blocks and employing complementary and non‐interfering SnIV?O and RuII ??? N interactions. The multiporphyrin arrays are stable and robust and were purified by column chromatography. 1H, 1H–1H COSY and NOESY NMR spectroscopic studies were used to unequivocally deduce the molecular structures of SnIV‐porphyrin‐based triads and higher oligomers. Absorption and electrochemical studies indicated weak interaction among the different porphyrin units in triads and higher oligomers, in support of the supramolecular nature of the arrays. Steady‐state fluorescence studies on triads indicated the possibility of energy transfer in the singlet state from the basal SnIV porphyrin to the axial 21,23‐dithiaporphyrin. However, the higher oligomers were weakly fluorescent due to the presence of heavy RuII porphyrin unit(s), which quench the fluorescence of the SnIV porphyrin and 21,23‐dithiaporphyrin units.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations are used to provide information on H3N???XY???HF triads (X, Y=F, Cl, Br) each having a halogen bond and a hydrogen bond. The investigated triads include H3N???Br2‐HF, H3N???Cl2???HF, H3N???BrCI???HF, H3N???BrF???HF, and H3N???ClF???HF. To understand the properties of the systems better, the corresponding dyads are also investigated. Molecular geometries, binding energies, and infrared spectra of monomers, dyads, and triads are studied at the MP2 level of theory with the 6‐311++G(d,p) basis set. Because the primary aim of this study is to examine cooperative effects, particular attention is given to parameters such as cooperative energies, many‐body interaction energies, and cooperativity factors. The cooperative energy ranges from ?1.45 to ?4.64 kcal mol?1, the three‐body interaction energy from ?2.17 to ?6.71 kcal mol?1, and the cooperativity factor from 1.27 to 4.35. These results indicate significant cooperativity between the halogen and hydrogen bonds in these complexes. This cooperativity is much greater than that between hydrogen bonds. The effect of a halogen bond on a hydrogen bond is more pronounced than that of a hydrogen bond on a halogen bond.  相似文献

The performance of opto‐electronic devices built from low‐molecular‐weight dye molecules depends crucially on the stacking properties and the resulting coupling of the chromophoric systems. Herein we investigate the influence of H‐bonding amide and bulky substituents on the π‐stacking of pyrene‐containing small molecules in dilute solution, as supramolecular aggregates, and in the solid state. A set of four pyrene derivatives was synthesized in which benzene or 4‐tert‐butyl benzene was linked to the pyrene unit either through an ester or an amide. All four molecules form supramolecular H‐aggregates in THF solution at concentrations above 1×10?4 mol L?1. These aggregates were transferred on a solid support and crystallized. We investigate: the excimer formation rates within supramolecular aggregates; the formation of H‐bonds as well as the optical changes during the transition from the amorphous to the crystalline state; and the excimer to monomer fluorescence ratio in crystalline films at low temperatures. We reveal that in solution supramolecular aggregation depends predominantly on the pyrene chromophores. In the crystalline state, however, the pyrene stacking can be controlled gradually by H‐bonding and steric effects. These results are further confirmed by molecular modeling. This work bears fundamental information for tailoring the solid state of functional optoelectronic materials.  相似文献

Matrix isolated atoms and small manganese clusters have been isolated in krypton matrices at concentrations lower than 10?3. Absorption and polarized light measurements have been conducted simultaneously on these samples. Defined electronic transitions show distinct circular or linear dichroïsm signals only after the application of an external magnetic field. Clusters belonging to these bands have an axial structure with a plane of symmetry perpendicular to their magnetic moment. On the basis of previous ESR results we are concluding that three of the defined electronic transitions are due to Mn5 cluster.  相似文献

The laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectra of jet-cooled NiB radicals have been recorded in the energy range of 19000-22100 cm-1. Eleven bands have been assigned to the [20.77]2II-X2+ transition system for the first time. The dispersed fluorescence spectra related to most of these bands have been investigated. Vibrationally excited levels of the ground electronic state, with v" up to 6, have been observed. In addition, the lifetimes for almost all the observed bands have also been measured.  相似文献

The boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) triads consisting of two triphenylamine units as electron donor (D) and BODIPY core as electron acceptor (A; B3 , and B4 ) have been synthesized using facile palladium cross‐coupling reactions to broaden the absorption of the BODIPY dyes. All dyes and intermediates were characterized by 1H NMR, 11B NMR, 13C NMR, and 19F NMR spectroscopies, UV–Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and time‐dependent density functional theory calculations. It was found that an increase in conjugation to the BODIPY core systematically extended the absorption and emission wavelength maxima. As a consequence, B4 containing the D–π–A–π–D structure, exhibited the longest absorption and emission maxima at 597 and 700 nm, respectively, with 1.8 eV in optical bandgap. The 96 nm red‐shifted absorption of B4 as compared to the unsubstituted BODIPY ( B1 ) indicated the effective electronic communication between triphenylamine and BODIPY. This suggested that the proper alignment of triphenylamine and BODIPY triad could lead to broader absorption and suitable low energy bandgap. Furthermore, the molecular modeling has been employed to analyze the electronic and optical properties of the dyes. We found that the optical, electrochemical, and theoretical bandgaps of all dyes were in good agreement.  相似文献

We report here the design and synthesis of porphyrin–metallocene dyads consisting of a metallocene [either ferrocene or mixed sandwich η5‐[C5H4(COOH)]Co(η4‐C4Ph4) connected via an ester linkage at meso phenyl position of either free‐base or zinc porphyrin. All these dyad systems were characterized by various spectroscopic and electrochemical methods. A dimeric form of this molecule was observed in the X‐ray crystal structure of Zn‐TTPCo. The absorption spectra of all four dyads indicated the absence of electronic interactions between porphyrin macrocycle and metallocene in the ground state. However, interestingly, in all four dyads, fluorescence emission of the porphyrin was quenched (19–55%) as compared to their monomeric units. The quenching was more pronounced in ferrocene derivatives rather than cobaltocenyl derivatives. The emission quenching can be attributed to the excited‐state intramolecular photoinduced electron transfer from metallocene to singlet excited state of porphyrin and the electron‐transfer rates (kET) were established in the range 1.51 × 108 to 1.11 × 109 s?1. They were found to be solvent dependent.  相似文献

In tetracene doped anthracene, the magnetic field modulation of prompt tetracene fluorescence following excitation into the anthracene singlet manifold has been measured as a function of the magnetic field orientation and optical excitation energy. The results show that this modulation with low energy excitation is caused by singlet heterofission into one anthracene triplet exciton and one tetracene triplet. With higher excitation energies this modulation is due to both the singlet heterofission and also singlet homofission into a pair of anthracene triplet excitons. Heterofission occurs mainly from anthracene molecules next to a tetracene and competes with the singlet trapping. From the singlet trapping rate and from the magnetic modulation of tetracene prompt fluorescence the heterofission rate is estimated as ≈10?11s?1.  相似文献

Concentration effect of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the photophysical properties of ciprofloxacin (Cip) have been investigated using optical absorption and fluorescence techniques. When performed AgNPs solution was added to the Cip solution, metal-enhanced fluorescence intensity and a blue-shift of 20 nm in the maximum emission spectra of Cip has been observed. The enhanced intensity of this system is strongly dependent on the AgNPs concentration and largest at the 6.0 × 10?6 mol L?1. With increase of AgNPs concentration, quenching of fluorescence is observed. Stern–Volmer quenching constants have been calculated at four temperatures. The results show the quenching constants are directly correlated with temperature. It indicates the quenching mechanism is the dynamic quenching in nature rather than static quenching. From which we determined the activation energy for the quenching of Cip-AgNPs to be about 31.1 kJ mol?1. In addition, in the presence of optimum AgNPs concentration, a sensitive fluorimetric method for the determination of ciprofloxacin at the range 5.0 × 10?7–3.0 × 10?5 mol L?1 and the detection limit of 2 × 10?8 mol L?1 in solution is proposed.  相似文献

The dynamics of the changing microenvironment of the fluorescent probe pyrene in slightly cross-linked networks of poly(diallyldimethylmmonium bromide) during diffusion of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in the gel phase has been investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy. Values of the spectral ratio I3/I1 for pyrene monomer included in SDS micelles in the swollen networks fall between the corresponding values for pyrene in water and for pyrene dissolved in SDS micelles in aqueous solution. In the narrow interval of the surfactant concentrations in the gel phase, the formation of pyrene excimers is observed. The values of the critical micelle concentration in the gel phase (ca. 5 × 10?4 to 8 × 10?4 mol/L) are tenfold lower than in aqueous solutions of the surfactant. The effective micellar diffusion coeffecient D in the gel phase increases with increasing swelling of the network. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Herein the synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, two‐photon absorption and electrochemical properties of 3,6‐disubstituted carbazole tweezers is reported. A dimer resulting from a Glaser homocoupling was isolated during a Sonogashira coupling reaction between a diethynyl‐carbazole spacer and a 5‐bromo‐triarylporphyrin and the properties of this original compound were compared with the 3,6‐disubstituted carbazole bisporphyrin tweezers. The dyads reported herein present a two‐photon absorption maximum at 920 nm with two‐photon absorption cross‐section in the 1200 GM range. Despite a strong linear absorption in the Soret region and moderate fluorescence quantum yield, they both lead to a high brightness reaching 30 000 M ?1 cm?1.  相似文献
