Strong S-domains
S-domains and strong S-rings are studied extensively with special emphasis on integral and polynomial ring extensions. The main theorem of this paper is that for a Prüfer domain R, the polynomial ring R[X1,…Xn] in finitely many indeterminates is a strong S-domain. We also prove that any Prüfer υ-multiplication domain is an S-domain.  相似文献

LetG be a finite group, andS a subset ofG \ |1| withS =S ?1. We useX = Cay(G,S) to denote the Cayley graph ofG with respect toS. We callS a Cl-subset ofG, if for any isomorphism Cay(G,S) ≈ Cay(G,T) there is an α∈ Aut(G) such thatS α =T. Assume that m is a positive integer.G is called anm-Cl-group if every subsetS ofG withS =S ?1 and | S | ≤m is Cl. In this paper we prove that the alternating groupA 5 is a 4-Cl-group, which was a conjecture posed by Li and Praeger.  相似文献

We propound a descent principle by which previously constructed equations over GF(q n)(X) may be deformed to have incarnations over GF(q)(X) without changing their Galois groups. Currently this is achieved by starting with a vectorial (= additive)q-polynomial ofq-degreem with Galois group GL(m, q) and then, under suitable conditions, enlarging its Galois group to GL(m, q n) by forming its generalized iterate relative to an auxiliary irreducible polynomial of degreen. Elsewhere this was proved under certain conditions by using the classification of finite simple groups, and under some other conditions by using Kantor’s classification of linear groups containing a Singer cycle. Now under different conditions we prove it by using Cameron-Kantor’s classification of two-transitive linear groups.  相似文献

We extend Hilbert's Nullstellensatz by replacing the fieldK by an integral domainA and the polynomial ringK[X 1,...,X n ] by the ring of integral-valued polynomials with respect toA. Necessary and sufficient conditions onA are given so that this generalized version holds.  相似文献

The main goal of this paper is to study the following combinatorial problem.given a finite set E={e1,e2,…em} and a subset familly σ={S1,S2,…,Sn}of E,does there exist a tree T with the edge set E such that each induced subgraph T[Si] of Si is precisely a path (1≤i≤k)?  相似文献

Let K(G) for a finite graph G with vertices v1,...,vn denote the K-algebra with generators X1,...,Xn and defining relations XiXj=XjXi if and only if vi is not connected to vj by an edge in G. We describe centralizers of monomials, show that the centralizer of a monomial is again a graph algebra, prove a unique factorization theorem for factorizations of monomials into commuting factors, compute the homology of K(G), and show that K(G) is the homology ring of a certain loop space. We also construct a K(π, 1) explicitly where π is the group with generators X1,...,Xn and defining relations XiXj=XjXi if and only if vi is not connected to vj by an edge in G.  相似文献

LetA be an augmentedK-algebra; defineT:AA ?k kA byT(a)=1?a ?a?1,aA. We prove, under some conditions, thatg is in the subalgebraK[f] ofA generated byf if and only ifT(g) is in the principal ideal generated byT(f) inA?k kA. WhenA=K[[X]],T(f) is a multiple ofT(X) if and only iff belongs to the ringL obtained by localizingK[X] at (X).  相似文献

We define a contravariant functorKfrom the category of finite graphs and graph morphisms to the category of finitely generated graded abelian groups and homomorphisms. For a graphX, an abelian groupB, and a nonnegative integerj, an element of Hom(Kj(X), B) is a coherent family ofB-valued flows on the set of all graphs obtained by contracting some (j − 1)-set of edges ofX; in particular, Hom(K1(X), ) is the familiar (real) “cycle-space” ofX. We show thatK · (X) is torsion-free and that its Poincaré polynomial is the specializationtnkTX(1/t, 1 + t) of the Tutte polynomial ofX(hereXhasnvertices andkcomponents). Functoriality ofK · induces a functorial coalgebra structure onK · (X); dualizing, for any ringBwe obtain a functorialB-algebra structure on Hom(K · (X), B). WhenBis commutative we present this algebra as a quotient of a divided power algebra, leading to some interesting inequalities on the coefficients of the above Poincaré polynomial. We also provide a formula for the theta function of the lattice of integer-valued flows inX, and conclude with 10 open problems.  相似文献

Let X be a symplectic or odd orthogonal Grassmannian which parametrizes isotropic subspaces in a vector space equipped with a nondegenerate (skew) symmetric form. We prove quantum Giambelli formulas which express an arbitrary Schubert class in the small quantum cohomology ring of X as a polynomial in certain special Schubert classes, extending the authors?? cohomological Giambelli formulas.  相似文献

The subject of this article are a priori constructions of primitive elements in field extensions. Consider the totality of all separable polynomialsf of degreen over a fieldK with rootsx 1,...,x n and prescribed Galois groupG. A vector (b 1,...,b n )K n is called stably primitive (forG), if, for each suchf,b 1 x 1+...+b n x n generates the splitting field off. We develop representation theoretical devices to investigate the set of stably primitive vectors geometrically. A fundamental observation is that is either very large or very small (or even empty). These two cases are illustrated by various examples. Moreover, criteria are given to decide which case holds. For a number of groups where is recognized to be small we show.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K. For any subset S of K, the D-polynomial closure of S is the largest subset T of K such that, for every polynomial f in K[X], if f maps S into D then f maps also T into D. When D is not local, the D-polynomial closure is not a topological closure. We prove here that, when D is any rank-one valuation domain, then there exists a topology on K such that the closed subsets for this topology are exactly the D-polynomially closed subsets of K.  相似文献

Let G be a nonabelian group, and associate the noncommuting graph ?(G) with G as follows: the vertex set of ?(G) is G\Z(G) with two vertices x and y joined by an edge whenever the commutator of x and y is not the identity. Let S 4(q) be the projective symplectic simple group, where q is a prime power. We prove that if G is a group with ?(G) ? ?(S 4(q)) then G ? S 4(q).  相似文献

LetT be a continuous transformation of a compact metric spaceX. T induces in a natural way a transformationT M on the spaceM (X) of probability measures onX, and a transformationT K on the spaceK (X) of closed subsets ofX. This note investigates which of the topological properties ofT∶X→X (like distality, transitivity, mixing property etc. ...) are “inherited” byT M∶M (X)→M (X) andT K∶K (X)→K (X).  相似文献

Let K be a (commutative totally) ordered field, let K[X 1,…, X n ] be the K-vector space of the polynomials with n variables.

An operator T (i.e., an endomorphism of K[X 1,…,X n ] into itself) is said to be “positive” if the image of every positive polynomial is a positive polynomial, where a positive polynomial is a polynomial which takes only non-negative values. First we prove that in ?[X], the sum of the derivatives of a positive polynomial is a positive polynomial too. Then we give what we believe to be a good framework to prove that this result remains true for every ordered field and we propose generalizations.  相似文献

We study the isometric extension problem for Hölder maps from subsets of any Banach space intoc 0 or into a space of continuous functions. For a Banach spaceX, we prove that anyα-Hölder map, with 0<α ≤1, from a subset ofX intoc 0 can be isometrically extended toX if and only ifX is finite dimensional. For a finite dimensional normed spaceX and for a compact metric spaceK, we prove that the set ofα’s for which allα-Hölder maps from a subset ofX intoC(K) can be extended isometrically is either (0, 1] or (0, 1) and we give examples of both occurrences. We also prove that for any metric spaceX, the above described set ofα’s does not depend onK, but only on finiteness ofK.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group andA be a normal subgroup ofG. We denote by ncc(A) the number ofG-conjugacy classes ofA andA is calledn-decomposable, if ncc(A)= n. SetK G = {ncc(A)|A ⊲ G}. LetX be a non-empty subset of positive integers. A groupG is calledX-decomposable, ifK G =X. Ashrafi and his co-authors [1-5] have characterized theX-decomposable non-perfect finite groups forX = {1, n} andn ≤ 10. In this paper, we continue this problem and investigate the structure ofX-decomposable non-perfect finite groups, forX = {1, 2, 3}. We prove that such a group is isomorphic to Z6, D8, Q8, S4, SmallGroup(20, 3), SmallGroup(24, 3), where SmallGroup(m, n) denotes the mth group of ordern in the small group library of GAP [11].  相似文献

A point-setS is protecting a collection F =T 1,T 2,..., n ofn mutually disjoint compact sets if each one of the setsT i is visible from at least one point inS; thus, for every setT i F there are points xS andy T i such that the line segment joining x to y does not intersect any element inF other thanT i . In this paper we prove that [2(n-2)/3] points are always sufficient and occasionally necessary to protect any family F ofn mutually disjoint compact convex sets. For an isothetic family F, consisting ofn mutually disjoint rectangles, [n/2] points are always sufficient and [n/2] points are sometimes necessary to protect it. IfF is a family of triangles, [4n/7] points are always sufficient. To protect families ofn homothetic triangles, [n/2] points are always sufficient and [n/2] points are sometimes necessary.  相似文献
