This paper deals with the coupled Sturm-Liouville system ? (pu′)′ + Pu + rv = λ1u + λ1N11(u, v) + λ2N21(u, v), ? (qv′)′ + Qv + ru = λ2v + λ1N12(u, v) + λ2N22(u, v), α11u(0) + α12u′(0) = 0 = α21v(0) + α22v′(0), β11u(1) + β12u′(1) = 0 = β21v(1) + β22v′(1). The functions p, P, q, Q, r are smooth; λ1 and λ2 are eigenparameters; Nij(u, v) is analytic and of higher order. The linearized problem, all Nij &z.tbnd; 0, is shown to have eigenvalues (λ1, λ2) which are continuously distributed along a sequence of monotonically decreasing curves in the λ1λ2-plane. A generalized Lyapunov-Schmidt method establishes that if (λ1, λ2) is near a simple eigenvalue of the linearized problem, then the number of small solutions of the nonlinear problem corresponds to the number of real roots of a certain polynomial.  相似文献

We consider the perturbed simple pendulum equation u ″(t) + μ |u (t)|p –1u (t) = λ sin u (t), tI ? (–T, T), u (t) > 0, tI, uT) = 0, where p > 1 is a constant,λ > 0 and μ ∈ R are parameters. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the structure of the solution set. To do this, we study precisely the asymptotic shape of the solutions when λ ? 1 as well as the asymptotic behavior of variational eigenvalue μ (λ) as λ → ∞. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We prove that the limits of the eigenvalues of T?+ and of T?? are the negative and nonpositive integers respectively by comparison of the general case to the special case in which a  1 and bc  0 and in which we can compute the limits exactly. We consider nonautonomous quasilinear parabolic equations satisfying certain symmetry conditions. We prove that each positive bounded solution u on ? N  × (?∞, T) decaying to zero at spatial infinity uniformly with respect to time is radially symmetric around some origin in ? N . The origin depends on the solution but is independent of time. We also consider the linearized equation along u and prove that each bounded (positive or not) solution is a linear combination of a radially symmetric solution and (nonsymmetric) spatial derivatives of u. Theorems on reflectional symmetry are also given.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study bifurcation points of the equation T(v) = L(λ,v) + M(λ,v), (λ,v) ? Λ × D in Banach spaces, where for any fixed λ ? Λ, T, L(λ,·) are linear mappings and M(λ,·) is a nonlinear mapping of higher order, M(λ,0) = 0 for all λ ? Λ. We assume that λ is a characteristic value of the pair (T, L) such that the mapping TL(λ ,·) is Fredholm with nullity p and index s, p > s ? 0. We shall find some sufficient conditions to show that (λ ,0) is a bifurcation point of the above equation. The results obtained will be used to consider bifurcation points of the axisymmetric buckling of a thin spherical shell subjected to a uniform compressive force consisting of a pair of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations of second order.  相似文献

The possible continuation of solutions of the nonlinear heat equation in RN × R+ ut = Δum + up with m > 0, p > 1, after the blowup time is studied and the different continuation modes are discussed in terms of the exponents m and p. Thus, for m + p ≤ 2 we find a phenomenon of nontrivial continuation where the region {x : u(x, t) = ∞} is bounded and propagates with finite speed. This we call incomplete blowup. For N ≥ 3 and p > m(N + 2)/(N − 2) we find solutions that blow up at finite t = T and then become bounded again for t > T. Otherwise, we find that blowup is complete for a wide class of initial data. In the analysis of the behavior for large p, a list of critical exponents appears whose role is described. We also discuss a number of related problems and equations. We apply the same technique of analysis to the problem of continuation after the onset of extinction, for example, for the equation ut = Δum − up, m > 0. We find that no continuation exists if p + m ≤ 0 (complete extinction), and there exists a nontrivial continuation if p + m > 0 (incomplete extinction). © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We study the bifurcation diagrams of positive solutions of the multiparameter p -Laplacian problem (φ p (u ′(x)))′ + f λ,μ (u (x)) = 0, –1 < x < 1, u ( 1) = u (1) = 0, where p > 1, φ p (y) = |y |p –2 y, (φ p (u ′))′ is the one-dimensional p -Laplacian, f λ,μ (u)= g (u, λ) + h (u, μ), and λ > λ0 and μ > μ0 are two bifurcation parameters, λ0 and μ0 are two given real numbers. Assuming that functions g and h satisfy hypotheses (H1)–(H4), for fixed μ > μ0,we give a classification of totally eight qualitatively different bifurcation diagrams. We prove that, on the (λ, ∥u)-plane, each bifurcation diagram consists of exactly one curve which is either a monotone curve or has exactly one turning point where the curve turns to the right. Hence the problem has at most two positive solutions for each λ > λ0. More precisely, we prove the exact multiplicity of positive solutions. In addition, for all p > 1, we give interesting examples which show complete evolution of bifurcation diagrams as μ varies. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

A boundary value problem for a singularly perturbed elliptic reaction-diffusion equation in a vertical strip is considered. The derivatives are written in divergent form. The derivatives in the differential equation are multiplied by a perturbation parameter ɛ2, where ɛ takes arbitrary values in the interval (0, 1]. As ɛ → 0, a boundary layer appears in the solution of this problem. Using the integrointerpolational method and the condensing grid technique, conservative finite difference schemes on flux grids are constructed that converge ɛ-uniformly at a rate of O(N 1−2ln2 N 1 + N 2−2), where N 1 + 1 and N 2 + 1 are the number of mesh points on the x 1-axis and the minimal number of mesh points on a unit interval of the x 2-axis respectively. The normalized difference derivatives ɛ k (∂ k /∂x 1 k )u(x) (k = 1, 2), which are ɛ-uniformly bounded and approximate the normalized derivatives in the direction across the boundary layer, and the derivatives along the boundary layer ( k / x 2 k )u(x) (k = 1, 2) converge ɛ-uniformly at the same rate.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence of infinitely many solutions to p‐Kirchhoff‐type equation (0.1) where f(x,u) = λh1(x)|u|m ? 2u + h2(x)|u|q ? 2u,a≥0,μ > 0,τ > 0,λ≥0 and . The potential function verifies , and h1(x),h2(x) satisfy suitable conditions. Using variational methods and some special techniques, we prove that there exists λ0>0 such that problem 0.1 admits infinitely many nonnegative high‐energy solutions provided that λ∈[0,λ0) and . Also, we prove that problem 0.1 has at least a nontrivial solution under the assumption f(x,u) = h2|u|q ? 2u,p < q< min{p*,p(τ + 1)} and has infinitely many nonnegative solutions for f(x,u) = h1|u|m ? 2u,1 < m < p. The change of variable for the temperature Θ in the one-phase Stefan problem leads to the evolution inequality, (ut – Δuf)(vu) ? 0 for all regular v ? 0, where u ? 0 is required. This inequality is to hold over a space-time domain D = Ω × (0, T) with a Dirichlet boundary condition imposed on ? Ω × (0, T) and a zero initial condition. The free boundary phase interface is given in one space dimension by The fully implicit divided difference scheme leads to a sequence of elliptic variational inequalities for {um}. The sequence {um} may be interpolated linearly in t to obtain an approximation UΔt of u. The following results are obtained in this paper: (i) a two-sided weak maximum principle for umum-1 in N space dimensions, hence the free boundary approximation for N = 1, is a monotone increasing step function; (ii) the uniform convergence of UΔt and ?UΔt, to u and ?u, respectively, on D ; (iii) the uniform convergence to the Hölder continuous, monotone increasing free boundary x on [0, T] of the piecewise linear sequence xΔt, where xΔt interpolates x Δt, in one space dimension; (iv) a constructive existence proof for u and x in prescribed regularity classes.  相似文献

We suppose that M is a closed subspace of l (J, X), the space of all bounded sequences {x(n)} n?J ? X, where J ? {Z+,Z} and X is a complex Banach space. We define the M-spectrum σM (u) of a sequence u ? l (J,X). Certain conditions will be supposed on both M and σM (u) to insure the existence of u ? M. We prove that if u is ergodic, such that σM (u,) is at most countable and, for every λ ? σM (u), the sequence e?iλnu(n) is ergodic, then u ? M. This paper is concerned with the study of the large-time behavior of the solutions u of a class of one-dimensional reaction–diffusion equations with monostable reaction terms f, including in particular the classical Fisher-KPP nonlinearities. The nonnegative initial data u 0(x) are chiefly assumed to be exponentially bounded as x tends to + ∞ and separated away from the unstable steady state 0 as x tends to ? ∞. On the one hand, we give some conditions on u 0 which guarantee that, for some λ > 0, the quantity c λ = λ +f′(0)/λ is the asymptotic spreading speed, in the sense that lim  t→+∞ u(t, ct) = 1 (the stable steady state) if c < c λ and lim  t→+∞ u(t, ct) = 0 if c > c λ. These conditions are fulfilled in particular when u 0(xe λx is asymptotically periodic as x → + ∞. On the other hand, we also construct examples where the spreading speed is not uniquely determined. Namely, we show the existence of classes of initial conditions u 0 for which the ω-limit set of u(t, ct + x) as t tends to + ∞ is equal to the whole interval [0, 1] for all x ∈ ? and for all speeds c belonging to a given interval (γ1, γ2) with large enough γ1 < γ2 ≤ + ∞.  相似文献

Let Γ denote a smooth simple curve in ? N , N ≥ 2, possibly with boundary. Let Ω R be the open normal tubular neighborhood of radius 1 of the expanded curve RΓ: = {Rx | x ∈ Γ??Γ}. Consider the superlinear problem ? Δu + λu = f(u) on the domains Ω R , as R → ∞, with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. We prove the existence of multibump solutions with bumps lined up along RΓ with alternating signs. The function f is superlinear at 0 and at ∞, but it is not assumed to be odd. If the boundary of the curve is nonempty our results give examples of contractible domains in which the problem has multiple sign changing solutions.  相似文献

We obtain the LpLq maximal regularity of the Stokes equations with Robin boundary condition in a bounded domain in ?n (n?2). The Robin condition consists of two conditions: v ? u=0 and αu+β(T(u, p)v – 〈T(u, p)v, vv)=h on the boundary of the domain with α, β?0 and α+β=1, where u and p denote a velocity vector and a pressure, T(u, p) the stress tensor for the Stokes flow and v the unit outer normal to the boundary of the domain. It presents the slip condition when β=1 and non‐slip one when α=1, respectively. The slip condition is appropriate for problems that involve free boundaries. Let V and V* be a real reflexive Banach space and its dual space, respectively. This paper is devoted to the abstract Cauchy problem for doubly nonlinear evolution equations governed by subdifferential operators with non-monotone perturbations of the form: ?V yt (u¢(t)) + ?V j(u(t)) + B(t, u(t)) ' f(t){\partial_V \psi^t (u{^\prime}(t)) + \partial_V \varphi(u(t)) + B(t, u(t)) \ni f(t)} in V*, 0 < t < T, u(0) = u 0, where ?V yt, ?V j: V ? 2V*{\partial_V \psi^t, \partial_V \varphi : V \to 2^{V^*}} denote the subdifferential operators of proper, lower semicontinuous and convex functions yt, j: V ? (-¥, +¥]{\psi^t, \varphi : V \to (-\infty, +\infty]}, respectively, for each t ? [0,T]{t \in [0,T]}, and f : (0, T) → V* and u0 ? V{u_0 \in V} are given data. Moreover, let B be a (possibly) multi-valued operator from (0, T) × V into V*. We present sufficient conditions for the local (in time) existence of strong solutions to the Cauchy problem as well as for the global existence. Our framework can cover evolution equations whose solutions might blow up in finite time and whose unperturbed equations (i.e., B o 0{B \equiv 0}) might not be uniquely solved in a doubly nonlinear setting. Our proof relies on a couple of approximations for the equation and a fixed point argument with a multi-valued mapping. Moreover, the preceding abstract theory is applied to doubly nonlinear parabolic equations.  相似文献

The structure of positive solutions to the quasilinear elliptic problems –div(|Du|p–2Du = λf(u) in Ω, u = 0 on ∂Ω, p > 1, Ω ⊂ RNa bounded smooth domain, is precisely studied when λ is sufficiently large, for a class of logistic‐type nonlinearities f(u) satisfying that f(0) = f(a) = 0, a > 0, f(u) > 0 for u ∈ (0,a), , while u = a is a zero point of f with order ω. It is shown that if ωp – 1, the problem has a unique positive solution uλ with sup Ω uλ < a, which develops a boundary layer near ∂Ω. It is shown that if 0 < ω < p – 1, the problem also has a unique positive solution u λ, but the flat core {x ∈ Ω : uλ(x) = a} ≠ ∅︁ exists. Moreover, the asymptotic behaviour of the flat core is studied as λ → ∞.  相似文献
