We give starlike criteria for a class of rational mappings on the open unit ball of a complex Banach space. We also give a sufficient condition for these mappings to be convex when they are defined in Hilbert spaces. It is well-known that the length spectrum of a geometrically finite hyperbolic manifold is discrete. In this paper, we begin a study of the length spectrum for geometrically infinite hyperbolic surfaces. In this generality, it is possible that the spectrum is not discrete and the main focus of this work is to find necessary and sufficient conditions for a geometrically infinite surface to have a discrete spectrum. After deriving a number of properties of the length spectrum, we show that every topological surface of infinite type admits both an infinite dimensional family of quasiconformally distinct hyperbolic structures having a discrete length spectrum, and an infinite dimensional family of quasiconformally distinct structures with a nondiscrete spectrum. Moreover, there exists such an infinite dimensional subspace arbitrarily close to (in the Fenchel-Nielsen topology) any hyperbolic structure.   相似文献

Let B be the open unit ball of a complex Banach space X and let B be homogeneous. We prove distortion results for normalized convex mappings f:BX which generalize various finite dimensional distortion theorems and improve some infinite dimensional ones. In this paper, we consider the higher dimensional second order differential equations of the form + ∇F(x,t) = 0,xR n with a class of weakly coupled potentials F( x, t ), periodically depending on t. We compared flood mapping techniques using a one‐dimensional (1D) hydraulic model HEC‐RAS and two‐dimensional (2D) LISFLOOD‐FP for a 10‐km reach of Gorgan River in Iran. Both models were run using the same hydrologic input data. The input into the models was a steady discharge of 90 cm, corresponds to a flood peak occurred on March 25, 2012. Flood maps generated using these two models were compared with an observed flood inundation map, using F‐statistic. The roughness coefficients of the models were calibrated by maximizing the value of the F‐statistic. Based on the F‐statistic, LISFLOOD‐FP gives a slightly better result (F = 0.69) than HEC‐RAS (F = 0.67). Visual comparison of the flood extents generated by the two models showed reasonably good agreement. Validation was done using a flood event occurred on May 31, 2014. The LISFLOOD‐FP model gave a better result for validation as well. The 2D model showed more consistency in comparison with the 1D model.  相似文献

The method of auxiliary mapping (MAM), introduced by Babu?ka and Oh, was proven to be very successful in dealing with monotone singularities arising in two‐dimensional problems. In this article, in the framework of the p‐version of FEM, MAM is presented for one‐dimensional elliptic boundary value problems containing singularities. Moreover, in order to show the effectiveness of MAM, a detailed proof of an error estimate is also presented, which gives a sharp error bound of MAM. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, some gap functions for three classes of a system of generalized vector quasi-equilibrium problems with set-valued mappings (for short, SGVQEP) are investigated by virtue of the nonlinear scalarization function of Chen, Yang and Yu. Three examples are then provided to demonstrate these gap functions. Also, some gap functions for three classes of generalized finite dimensional vector equilibrium problems (GFVEP) are derived without using the nonlinear scalarization function method. Furthermore, a set-valued function is obtained as a gap function for one of (GFVEP) under certain assumptions.   相似文献

We establish a uniform dimensional result for normally reflected Brownian motion (RBM) in a large class of non-smooth domains. Hausdorff dimensions for the boundary occupation time and the boundary trace of RBM are determined. In this paper, we use the functional analytic method (theory of exponential dichotomies and Liapunov-Schmidt method) to study the homoclinic bifurcations of higher dimensional difference equations in a degenerate case. We obtain a Melnikov vector mapping for difference equations with the help of which the existence of transversal homoclinic orbits can be detected.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the eigenvalues of the Neumann Laplacian on various classes of domains of given measure: simply‐connected Lipschitz planar domains, n‐sided planar polygons and smooth N‐dimensional domains. In each case, we consider some quantities involving low eigenvalues of the Neumann Laplacian for which we obtain new inequalities. Moreover, we sharpen a universal bound derived by M. Ashbaugh and R. Benguria for sum of reciprocal of Neumann eigenvalues. Our investigations make use of some properties of conformal mappings, Bessel functions, symmetric domains or some isoperimetric inequalities for moments of inertia. We propose a result of local existence and uniqueness of a mild solution to the one‐dimensional Vlasov–Poisson system. We establish the result for an initial condition lying in the space W1,1(?2), then we extend it to initial conditions lying in the space BV(?2), without any assumption of continuity, boundedness or compact support. An algebra extension AB is right depth two if its tensor-square is in the Dress category . We consider necessary conditions for right, similarly left, D2 extensions in terms of partial A-invariance of two-sided ideals in A contracted to the centralizer. Finite dimensional algebras extending central simple algebras are shown to be depth two. Following P. Xu, left and right bialgebroids over a base algebra R may be defined in terms of anchor maps, or representations on R. The anchor maps for the bialgebroids and over the centralizer R = C A (B) are the modules S R and R T studied in Kadison (J. Alg. & Appl., 2005, preprint), Kadison (Contemp. Math., 391: 149–156, 2005), and Kadison and Külshammer (Commun. Algebra, 34: 3103–3122, 2006), which provide information about the bialgebroids and the extension (Kadison, Bull. Belg. Math. Soc. Simon Stevin, 12: 275–293, 2005). The anchor maps for the Hopf algebroids in Khalkhali and Rangipour (Lett. Math. Phys., 70: 259–272, 2004) and Kadison (2005, preprint) reverse the order of right multiplication and action by a Hopf algebra element, and lift to the isomorphism in Van Oystaeyen and Panaite (Appl. Categ. Struct., 2006, in press). We sketch a theory of stable A-modules and their endomorphism rings and generalize the smash product decomposition in Kadison (Proc. Am. Math. Soc., 131: 2993–3002, 2003 Prop. 1.1) to any A-module. We observe that Schneider’s coGalois theory in Schneider (Isr. J. Math., 72: 167–195, 1990) provides examples of codepth two, such as the quotient epimorphism of a finite dimensional normal Hopf subalgebra. A homomorphism of finite dimensional coalgebras is codepth two if and only if its dual homomorphism of algebras is depth two.   相似文献

The objective of this paper is to investigate the approximate boundary controllability of Sobolev-type stochastic differential systems in Hilbert spaces. The control function for this system is suitably constructed by using the infinite dimensional controllability operator. Sufficient conditions for approximate boundary controllability of the proposed problem in Hilbert space is established by using contraction mapping principle and stochastic analysis techniques. The obtained results are extended to stochastic differential systems with Poisson jumps. Finally, an example is provided which illustrates the main results.  相似文献
