It is shown that the direct exchange interaction of ions possessing electrons (holes) with orbital angular momenta L and ℓ always contains a contribution , where is a unit vector along the bond connecting the ions. As a result, taking the spin-orbit interaction into account gives rise to a pseudodipole interaction of the spins (total angular momenta) of the ions under study and to uniaxial anisotropy. We have constructed some Regge trajectories for mesons and baryons by taking the 70 MeV spinless mass quanta as the ultimate building block for the light hadrons. In order to make masses integral multiples of seventy, small changes in masses has been made with due explanation. We have shown how a linear relationship between J and M 2 is maintained by considering quantized hadron masses, which is a direct consequence of the string model and gives a strong clue for quark confinement. It has also been established that mesons and baryons have different slopes and the slopes of baryons is less than the slope of the mesons. This clearly defies the concept of universality of slopes (α ≈ 1.1 GeV2) of hadrons, which can only be achieved if the strings joining the quarks have constant string tension α = 1/(2πσ) (where σ is the string tension).  相似文献

The gauge-invariant approach to the potential via the Wilson loop is generalized, replacing the static sources by the appropriate Dirac currents. The resulting expression is expanded with respect to l/m 2 and then brought into a suitable form. For the evaluation the only input we employ is the area law for large distances. This allows us to understand how the electric flux tube picture emerges in the case of moving quarks, and why magnetic terms do not contribute to spin-dependent corrections. The only surviving spin dependence is a spin-orbit term like that from a scalar potential, but with the opposite sign.  相似文献

The differential cross-sections (DCS) of the η -production reaction π- p → ηn are measured at momenta of incident π- mesons (700, 710 and 720MeV/c) close to the threshold of this reaction. The experiment is carried out at the pion channel of the PNPI synchrocyclotron (with the momentum spread of the pion beam equal to 1.5%) using the Neutral Meson Spectrometer (NMS) designed and created at the Meson Physics Laboratory for detecting two photons from the decay η → 2γ . This spectrometer consisting of two electromagnetic total absorption calorimeter (24 CsI(Na) crystals in each calorimeter) allowed to obtain the DCS in the whole angular range from 0° to 180° in the c.m.s. It is shown that at 700MeV/c the DCS angular dependence is isotropic, indicating on the S -wave character of the η -production process while at higher momenta a significant contribution of the D -wave has led to the anisotropic angular dependence having a bowl-like shape.  相似文献

The angular dependence of the γ-ray asymmetry relative to the plane formed by the directions of fission-fragment separation and longitudinal polarization of the thermal neutrons inducing 235U(n, f) fission was investigated. The results obtained confirm the existence of γ-ray emission asymmetry and the dependence of its coefficient on the angle between the axes of the fission-fragment and γ-ray detectors, revealed for the first time by the ITEP group at the FRM-II reactor in Munich. The observed T-odd effect of around ∼2 × 10−4 can be explained by the angular anisotropy of the γ-ray emission from fission fragments with large angular momenta oriented relative to the fission axis.  相似文献

The matrix of the operator of the spin-other-orbit interaction energy is constructed for npn’g and np 5 n’g configurations. The matrix elements of this operator are calculated in the single-configuration approximation with wave functions in the LSJM representation and in the representation of uncoupled angular momenta using the known general formulas. The spin-other-orbit interaction is represented by three direct and three exchange radial Marvin spin interaction integrals.  相似文献

A dual Ginzburg-Landau model corresponding to SU(3) gluodynamics in the Abelian projection is studied. A string theory describing QCD string dynamics is obtained in this model. Ionization and dissociation of diatomic molecules induced by a weak field (after preliminarily populating an intermediate level) and by intense, linearly polarized monochromatic radiation have been studied. Field-induced mixing of rotational components of various electronic-vibrational states of molecules (such as CO, NO, etc.) at field strength f∼10−4–10−5 atomic units can lead to migration among states with different angular momenta J. Therefore, ions with rotational momenta J + much higher than those prescribed by selection rules for three-photon absorption can be formed from molecules in the ground state. The possibility of selective formation of ions with J +≫1 and zero projection of the angular momentum on the polarization vector of the external electromagnetic radiation has been investigated. We analytically compute the orbital effects induced on the motion of a spinning particle geodesically traveling around a central rotating body by the general relativistic two-body spin–spin and spin-orbit leading-order interactions. Concerning the spin-orbit term, we compute the long-term variations due to the particle’s spin by finding secular precessions for the inclination I of the particle’s orbit, its longitude of the ascending node Ω and the longitude of pericenter v{\varpi} . Moreover, we generalize the well-known Lense-Thirring precessions to a generic orientation of the source’s angular momentum by obtaining an entirely new effect represented by a secular precession of I, and additional secular precessions of Ω and v{\varpi} as well. The spin–spin interaction is responsible of gravitational effects à la Stern-Gerlach consisting of secular precessions of I, W, v{I, \Omega, \varpi} and the mean anomaly M{\mathcal{M}} . Such results are obtained without resorting to any approximations either in the particle’s eccentricity e or in its inclination I; moreover, no preferred orientations of both the system’s angular momenta are adopted. Their generality allows them to be applied to a variety of astronomical and astrophysical scenarios like, e.g., the Sun and its planets and the double pulsar PSR J0737-3039A/B. It turns out that the orbital precessions caused by the spin–spin and the spin-orbit perturbations due to the less massive body are below the current measurability level, especially for the solar system and the Stern-Gerlach effects. Concerning the solar Lense-Thirring precessions, the slight misalignment of the solar equator with respect to the ecliptic reduces the gravitomagnetic node precession of Mercury down to a 0.08 mas per century level with respect to the standard value of 1 mas per century obtained by aligning the z axis with the Sun’s angular momentum. The new inclination precession is as large as 0.06 mas per century, while the perihelion’s rate remains substantially unchanged, amounting to −2 mas per century. Further studies may be devoted to the extrasolar planets which exhibit a rich variety of orbital and rotational configurations.  相似文献

In the framework of relativistic harmonic confinement model for quarks and antiquarks, the masses of S- and P-wave mesons and pseudoscalar decay constants from light flavour to heavy flavour sectors are computed. The residual two-body Coulomb interaction and the spin-dependent interaction of the confined one gluon exchange effects (COGEP) such as spin-spin and spin-orbit interactions are perturbatively incorporated with the confinement energy to get the respective vector-pseudoscalar meson mass differences. Here we employ the same parametrization and model parameters as used in a recent study of low-lying hadron masses and leptonic decay widths. The results are being compared with the values obtained from other theoretical models and the experimental values.  相似文献

The influence of the different quadrupole pairing forces ∝ Y2m (m = 0, 1, 2) and the spin-dependent particle-hole force on backbending (BB) is studied. A cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approach with particle number projection before the variation of the important degrees of freedom is used. To discuss the numerical results qualitatively perturbative formulas for the moment of inertia and the gap parameters are given. The results are the following: (i) The quadrupole pairing Y21 is not affecting the backbending. (ii) The Y20 pairing is reducing the moment of inertia at low angular momenta by about 20 %. This just cancels the increase of the moment of inertia by Y21 pairing at low angular momenta, (iii) The Y21 and Y20 pairing together shift the backbending point to higher angular momenta and better agreement with the experimental data. (iv) A spin-dependent ph force does not affect the moment of inertia at low angular momentum. But above backbending it reduces the moment of inertia by about 13 % to the correct experimental value if a strength parameter adapted in 208Pb is used.  相似文献

We examine the possibility to utilize in-medium charmonium formation in heavy-ion interactions at collider energy as a probe of the properties of the medium. This is possible because the formation process involves recombination of charm quarks which imprints a signal on the resulting normalized transverse momentum distribution containing information about the momentum distribution of the quarks. We have contrasted the transverse momentum spectra of J/ψ, characterized by 〈p T 2〉, which result from the formation process in which the charm quark distributions are taken at opposite limits with regard to thermalization in the medium. The first uses charm quark distributions unchanged from their initial production in a pQCD process, appropriate if their interaction with the medium is negligible. The second uses charm quark distributions which are in complete thermal equilibrium with the transversely expanding medium, appropriate if a very strong interaction between charm quarks and medium exists. We find that the resulting 〈p T 2〉 of the formed J/ψ should allow one to differentiate between these extremes, and that this differentiation is not sensitive to variations in the detailed dynamics of in-medium formation. We include a comparison of predictions of this model with preliminary PHENIX measurements, which indicates compatibility with a substantial fraction of in-medium formation.  相似文献

We present new results of a relativistic quark model based on the Bethe-Salpeter equation in its instantaneous approximation. Assuming a linearly rising confinement potential with an appropriate spinorial structure in Dirac space and adopting a residual interaction based on instanton effects, we can compute masses of the light mesons up to highest observed angular momenta with a natural solution of the U A(1) problem. The calculated ground states masses and the radial excitations describe the experimental results well. In this paper, we will also discuss our results concerning numerous meson decay properties. For processes like π+/K +e +υeγ and 0-↦γγ at various photon virtualities, we find a good agreement with experimental data. We will also comment on the form factors of the K ?3 decay and on the decay constants of the π, K and η mesons. For the sake of completeness, we will furthermore present the electromagnetic form factors of the charged π and K mesons as well as a comparison of the radiative meson decay widths with the most recent experimental data. Meson hyperfine splittings give empirical evidence that the short-ranged part of the potential binding quarks has the behavior expected of single color gluon exchange in an asymptotically free theory. Since the interaction of light confined quarks depends on only one length scale, while that of heavy confined quarks depends on two length scales, it is argued that the spin-dependent interactions are qualitatively different in the cases. Phenomenological evidence suggests that the spin-dependent interactions of light quarks are short-ranged only, while that of heavy quarks are predominantly long-ranged. It is proposed that a measurement of the F1-F mass-difference will help clarify the nature of a possible long-ranged spin-spin interaction of strange quarks.  相似文献

The J = (3/2) , J = 1/2 Nucleon mass difference shows the quark energies can be spin dependent. It is natural to expect that the quark wave functions also depend on spin. A spin-dependent quark force is fitted to the proton and neutron magnetic moments, axial charge, and spin content using a (1/2+)3 configuration for the quarks and assuming only zero mass u and d quarks are in the nucleon. In the octet, such spin-dependent forces lead to different wave functions for quarks with spin parallel or antiparallel to the nucleon spin. The eigen-energy of this potential is 0.15 GeV higher for quark spin parallel than for the quark spin antiparallel to the proton spin. This potential predicts a single quark energy of 0.37 GeV for mass-less quarks in the Delta. Assuming the quark forces are flavor independent, this potential predicts magnetic moments of a bound strange quark to be very close to those determined empirically from the octet magnetic moments.  相似文献

Summary The spin-orbit structure ofF A centres in KCl:Li and KCl:Na have been studied by means of the magnetic circular dichroism. Due to theirC 4V symmetry theF A centres have two different spin-orbit parameters, Δ and Δ, which only in the KCl:Li case follow the relation: Δ < ΔF < Δ as expected from the theory. For a close comparison we have also reported our measurement of the spin-orbit coupling ofF centre in KCl. The spin-orbit parameters of theF andF A centres have been determined using the method of moment.  相似文献

Summary The polarized optical absorption spectra of Na2Cd3Cl8: Co2+ in the range of 15 000 to 40 000 cm−1 down to 15 K are reported. The Co2+ ion is found to occupy the Cd2+ sites in octahedral geometry and the spectra are interpreted satisfactorily in terms of a cubic ligand field model including spin-orbit coupling. The observed crystal field spectra are well reproduced withB=745 cm−1,C=3410 cm−1,Dq=700 cm−1 and ζ (spin-orbit interaction) =520 cm−1. No spectral evidence for tetragonal distortion is observed.  相似文献

For the first time, average angular momenta of the ternary fission fragments 100, 102Zr, 106Mo, 144, 146Ba and 138, 140, 142Xe from the α-accompanied fission of 252Cf were obtained from relative intensities of prompt γ-ray transitions with the use of the statistical model calculation. Average values of the angular momenta were compared with the corresponding values for the same fission fragments from the binary fission of 252Cf. Results indicate the presence of a decreasing trend in the average values of angular momenta induced in ternary fission fragments compared to the same binary fission fragments. On the average, the total angular momentum extracted for ternary fission fragments is ∼1.4 ℏ lower than in binary fission. Consequently, results indicate that the mechanism of the ternary α-particles emission may directly effect an induction of angular momenta of fission fragments, and possible scenarios of such mechanisms are discussed. Further, the dependence of the angular momenta of 106Mo and 140Xe on the number of emitted neutrons from correlated pairs of primary fragments was obtained also showing a decreasing dependence of average angular momenta with increasing number of emitted neutrons. Consequences are briefly discussed.  相似文献
