In this article, we describe some new constructions for Room frames and use them to show the existence of Room frames of types t4 and t5. Combining the result with those of Dinitz and Stinson leads to the following: the only cases for which the existence of Room frames is undecided are those types t4 where t = 14,22,26,34,38,46,62,74,82,86,98,122,134,146. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Partitionable skew Room frames of type hn have played an important role in the constructions of 4-frames, (K4-e)-frames and super-simple (4,2)-frames. In this paper, we investigate the existence of partitionable skew Room frames of type hn. The necessary conditions for the existence of such a design are that and h?5. It is proved that these necessary conditions are also sufficient with a few possible exceptions. As a byproduct, the known results on the existence of skew Room frames and uniform 4-frames are both improved.  相似文献

A (v, k, 1)-HPMD is called a frame (briefly, k-FHPMD), if the blocks of the HPMD can be partitioned into v partial parallel classes such that the complement of each partial parallel class is a group of the HPMD. A (v, k, 1)-HPMD is called resolvable (briefly, k-RHPMD), if the blocks of the HPMD can be partitioned into parallel classes. In this article, (i) we shall construct 3-FHPMDs of type 36 and 216 to completely settle the existence of 3-FHPMD of type hu; (ii) we shall show that the necessary conditions for the existence of 4-FHPMD of type hu are sufficient for the case h = 4; (iii) we shall show that the necessary conditions for the existence of 4-RHPMD of type hu are sufficient for the case h = 4.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the existence of large sets of symmetric partitioned incomplete latin squares of type gu (LSSPILSs) which can be viewed as a generalization of the well‐known golf designs. Constructions for LSSPILSs are presented from some other large sets, such as golf designs, large sets of group divisible designs, and large sets of Room frames. We prove that there exists an LSSPILS(gu) if and only if u ≥ 3, g(u ? 1) ≡ 0 (mod 2), and (g, u) ≠ (1, 5).  相似文献

We begin an investigation into the spectrum of (non-uniform) Kirkman frames of type h u m 1, paying particular attention to the cases where h ∈{2,4,6,8,10,12}. An HMTS of type {n1, n2, ⋖, nh} is a directed graph which can be decomposed into 3-circuits. If the 3-circuits can be partitioned into parallel classes, then the HMTS is called an RHMTS. In this article it is shown that the RHMTSs of type mh exist when mh &equiv 0 (mod 3) and (m, h) &ne (1, 6), with the possible exception of h = 6 and , where M17 = {m|m is divisible by a prime less than 17}. The existence of Mendelsohn frames, which is closely related to RHMTS, is also considered in this article. It is proved that a Mendelsohn frame of type tu exists if and only if u ≥ 4 and t(u - 1) ≡ 0(mod 3) with 2 possible exceptions. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. In this article, we construct group divisible designs (GDDs) with block size five, group-type gu and index unity. The necessary condition for the existence of such a GDD is u ≷ 5, (u - 1)g ≡ 0 (mod 4) and u(u - 1)g2 ≡ 0 (mod 20). It is shown that these necessary conditions are also sufficient, except possibly in a few cases. In this paper, we investigate the existence of incomplete group divisible designs (IGDDs) with block size four, group-type (g, h) u and general index λ. The necessary conditions for the existence of such a design are that u ≥ 4, g ≥ 3h, λg(u 1) ≡ 0 (mod 3), λ(g h)(u 1) ≡ 0 (mod 3), and λu(u 1)(g 2 h 2 ) ≡ 0 (mod 12). These necessary conditions are shown to be sufficient for all λ≥ 2. The known existence result for λ = 1 is also improved.  相似文献

We consider an initial-boundary value problem for the non-linear evolution equation in a cylinder Qt = Ω × (0, t), where T[u] = yuxx + uyy is the Tricomi operator and l(u) a special differential operator of first order. In this paper we present sufficient conditions that a bounded solution u of Lu = f be almost periodic. For some admissible α we show the existence of global solutions and we calculate the regularity of those solutions. This paper deals with the solutions defined for all time of the KPP equation ut = uxx + f(u),   0 < u(x,t) < 1, (x,t) ∈ ℝ2, where ƒ is a KPP‐type nonlinearity defined in [0,1]: ƒ(0) = ƒ(1) = 0, ƒ′(0) > 0, ƒ′(1) < 0, ƒ > 0 in (0,1), and ƒ′(s) ≤ ƒ′(0) in [0,1]. This equation admits infinitely many traveling‐wave‐type solutions, increasing or decreasing in x. It also admits solutions that depend only on t. In this paper, we build four other manifolds of solutions: One is 5‐dimensional, one is 4‐dimensional, and two are 3‐dimensional. Some of these new solutions are obtained by considering two traveling waves that come from both sides of the real axis and mix. In this paper, we consider the fourth-order Neumann boundary value problem u(4)(t)−2u(t)+u(t)=f(t,u(t)) for all t∈[0,1] and subject to u(0)=u(1)=u?(0)=u?(1)=0. Using the fixed point index and the critical group, we establish the existence theorem of solutions that guarantees the problem has at least one positive solution and two sign-changing solutions under certain conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, we continue the study of the periodic problem for the second-order equation u+f(u)u+g(u)=h(t,u), where h is a Carathéodory function and f,g are continuous functions on (0,+) which may have singularities at zero. Both attractive and repulsive singularities are considered. The method relies on a novel technique of construction of lower and upper functions. As an application, we obtain new sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic solutions to the Rayleigh–Plesset equation.  相似文献

The problem on the existence of a positive in the interval ]a, b[ solution of the boundary value problem is considered, where the functions f and satisfy the local Carathéodory conditions. The possibility for the functions f and g to have singularities in the first argument (for t = a and t = b) and in the phase variable (for u = 0) is not excluded. In this paper the generalized nonlinear Euler differential equation t2k(tu′)u″ + t(f(u)+ k(tu′))u′ + g(u) = 0 is considered. Here the functions f(u), g(u) and k(u) satisfy smoothness conditions which guarantee the uniqueness of solutions of initial value problems, however, no conditions of sub(super) linearity are assumed.
