We report an inelastic light scattering study of the cyclotron spin-flip mode in the two-dimensional electron system at filling nu=1. The energy of this mode can serve as a probe of the many-body exchange interaction on short length scales. Its magnetic field dependence is compared with predictions based on Hartree-Fock theory. They agree well when including the nonzero width of the electron system. From the measured energies, the exchange enhanced g factor is extracted. It diverges at small fields and differs largely from g factors obtained via transport activation studies.  相似文献

The cyclotron spin-wave mode of a two-dimensional electron system have been investigated by inelastic light scattering. It is observed at small electron filling factors, (v~0.1, when the electron system is spin-depolarized. As long as the electron system becomes fully spin-polarized (v>0.2), the cyclotron spin-wave disappears from the inelastic light scattering spectra. It reenters at electron filling factors v>1. Over the range of electron filling factors of 1<v<2, the cyclotron spin-wave energy is insensitive to both the experimentally accessible in-plane momenta and the electron concentration, whereas its inelastic light scattering efficiency is strongly influenced by the spin polarization of the electron system.  相似文献

Using magnetocapacitance data in tilted magnetic fields, we directly determine the chemical potential jump in a strongly correlated two-dimensional electron system in silicon when the filling factor traverses the spin and the cyclotron gaps. The data yield an effective g factor that is close to its value in bulk silicon and does not depend on the filling factor. The cyclotron splitting corresponds to the effective mass that is strongly enhanced at low electron densities.  相似文献

The cyclotron excitation spectrum of selectively doped AlGaAs/GaAs quantum wells with a high (up to 2 × 107 cm2/(V s)) mobility of electrons has been studied by means of the Raman scattering. The lines of the Raman scattering by the excitations of D ? complexes, the objects in which two electrons localized in a quantum well are coupled to a charged impurity in a barrier, have been detected and identified. Spin-singlet D ? complexes have been shown to exist in the entire range of the electron filling factor, from v → 0 to v = 2, owing to the specificity of the Coulomb interaction in two-dimensional systems. The excitation energies of the singlet D ? complexes have been studied as functions of the electron density, quantum well width, and magnetic field.  相似文献

New lines are observed in the photoluminescence spectrum of a two-dimensional electron gas in a quantizing magnetic field at a filling factor of ν = 2 upon the photoexcitation of a nonequilibrium ensemble of cyclotron magnetoexcitons. Their energies lie in the region forbidden for single-particle optical transitions and allowed for inner transitions from excited states of three-particle translationally invariant complexes called magnetotrions. It is suggested that the new lines are associated with the complicated spectrum of internal motion in the magnetotrion, composed of an electron at the first Landau level and two identical holes at the zeroth Landau level.  相似文献

基于扩展的自旋反转模型, 对光电负反馈下垂直腔表面发射激光器的偏振开关特性进行了数值仿真和理论分析. 研究结果表明: 对于不同的自旋反转率, 反馈强度和延迟时间对激光器偏振开关特性产生较大影响.在慢自旋反转率下运行时, 随着反馈强度的增加, 开关点电流呈线性增加, 导致X偏振模被压缩, 这与报道的基于各向同性光反馈的情景相反, 产生这一现象的原因是由于光电负反馈提高了X偏振模的阈值; 延迟时间对开关点电流的影响随反馈强度的变化而不同.在快自旋反转率下运行时, 反馈强度对开关点电流的影响与慢自旋反转率时的情形不同, 开关点电流经历先增加后减小的过程, 开关点电流受反馈强度的影响更加敏感; 而延迟时间的影响规律和慢自旋反转率时相似. 此外, 还发现自发辐射噪声对激光器偏振开关特性有较大影响. 关键词: 垂直腔表面发射激光器 偏振开关 光电负反馈 自发辐射噪声  相似文献

We study the capacitance of single electron wires in high quantizing magnetic fields. The capacitance spectra obtained on 300 nm wide electron channels are interpreted with a simple model considering the geometry of the incompressible stripes in the electron channel as function of filling factor. The capacitance spectra directly reflect the potential form of the wire edge. This is experimentally demonstrated by the dependence on the confinement potential as well as by a clear asymmetry of the capacitance minimum at filling factor v=2 that can be well explained with the model. For comparison we present capacitance spectra obtained on very narrow, but otherwise similar quantum wires, in which quantization into one-dimensional subbands dominates the behavior.  相似文献

The first successful high power heating of a high dielectric constant spherical tokamak plasma by an electron Bernstein wave (EBW) is reported. An EBW was excited by mode conversion (MC) of an mode cyclotron wave injected from the low magnetic field side of the TST-2 spherical tokamak. Evidence of electron heating was observed as increases in the stored energy and soft x-ray emission. The increased emission was concentrated in the plasma core region. A heating efficiency of over 50% was achieved, when the density gradient in the MC region was sufficiently steep.  相似文献

Investigation of acoustic edge magnetoplasma excitations in micrometer two-dimensional electron disks has been carried out. It has been shown that additional acoustic edge magnetoplasma modes associated with the existence of incompressible strips in the two-dimensional electron system caused by Zeeman spin splitting can appear in the system at temperatures below the Zeeman energy. The magnetic dispersion of the first “spin” branch of acoustic edge magnetoplasmons has been studied. It has been shown that this mode vanishes as the filling factor ν = 1 is approached. The dependence of the relative amplitude of acoustic edge magnetoplasmons on the filling factor has also been investigated.  相似文献

A formalism for determining the critical width of Hall incompressible strips, which arise in regularly nonuniform 2D electron systems in the presence of a magnetic field, is proposed. Under equilibrium conditions, this width is determined by competition between the cyclotron and Coulomb energies at distances of about the critical width of a channel with integer filling factor. Experimental evidence is reported of an internal kink instability driven by a new mechanism: barely trapped suprathermal electrons produced by off-axis electron cyclotron heating on the DIII-D tokamak. It occurs in plasmas with an evolving safety factor profile q(r) when q(min) approaches 1. This instability is most active when ECCD is applied on the high field side of the flux surface. It has a bursting behavior with poloidal/toroidal mode number = m/n = 1/1. In positive magnetic shear plasmas, this mode becomes the fishbone instability. This observation can be qualitatively explained by the drift reversal of the barely trapped suprathermal electrons.  相似文献

A small-signal gain technique has been used to measure the lineshape of spontaneous spin-flip Raman scattering as a function of magnetic field (H = 0.5–10 kG) for an electron concentration n = 1015 cm-3 at T = 2°K with both photons propagating normal to H. Four-wave mixing processes have been observed for varying carrier concentrations together with an interference between the resonant spin-flip nonlinearity and the nonresonant nonlinearity resulting from conduction electron nonparabolicity.  相似文献

A theory for static and dynamic transport of a two-dimensional electron gas in GaAs-AlGaAs heterostructures at temperature zero is presented. Charged impurities, separated from the electron gas by a spacer layer, are considered as the dominant scattering mechanism. Finite extension of the wave function of the two-dimensional electron gas is taken into account. Multiple scattering effects are included and are shown to lead to a metal insulator transition at low electron densities. Due to plasmon dynamics the scattering is strongly frequency dependent, and this dissipative process determines the width of the cyclotron resonance. The corresponding reactive effect determines the shift of the cyclotron resonance. It is shown that a correlation between line width maximum and zero frequency shift of the cyclotron mode exists, in agreement with experimental results.  相似文献

A fundamentally new collective state, namely, the magnetofermionic condensate, is discovered during photoexcitation of a sufficiently dense gas of long-lived triplet cyclotron magnetoexcitons in a twodimensional Hall insulator with a high electron mobility, a filling factor of ν = 2, and temperatures of T < 1 K. The condensed phase coherently interacts with an external electromagnetic field, exhibits superradiant properties in the recombination of correlated condensate electrons with heavy holes in the valence band, and spreads nondissipatively in the layer of a two-dimensional electron gas to macroscopical large distances, transferring an integer spin. The observed effects are explained in terms of a coherent condensate in a nonequilibrium system of two-dimensional fermions with a fully quantized energy spectrum, in which a degenerate ensemble of long-lived triplet magnetoexcitons obeying the Bose statistics is present.

The dispersion of the composite-fermion cyclotron-resonance mode is measured with an optical detection scheme under the combined excitation of microwave radiation and a surface acoustic wave from an interdigital transducer. The slowly traveling surface wave defines the transferred wave vector. Momenta up to 10;{8} m;{-1} are accessible. The cyclotron-resonance mode exhibits strong negative dispersion, which suggests predominant short range residual interaction among composite fermions. From an extrapolation, the cyclotron mass at k=0 is obtained and investigated as a function of electron density.  相似文献

The absorption of far-infrared radiation due to electron transitions between spin-split states in nonsymmetric quantum wells excited by a plane-polarized electric field is considered. It is shown that a relative contribution of the exchange renormalization of spin-flip transitions decreases as the concentration of two-dimensional electrons increases. The shape of the absorption peak under resonance transitions is calculated for the case when the line broadening is determined using scattering by static defects. The effect of the Coulomb interaction on the shape of the peak is taken into account, and the suppression of spin-flip absorption due to temperature growth is described.  相似文献

Investigation of neoclassical tearing mode and its suppression by electron cyclotron current drive(ECCD) has been carried out in HL-2 M tokamak. The current driving capability of the electron cyclotron wave is evaluated. It is found that the deposition location can be effectively controlled by changing the poloidal angle. The validation of electron cyclotron wave heating and current driving has been demonstrated for the upper launcher port. We show that 3.0 MW and2.5 MW modulated ECCD can completely stabilize(2,1) and(3,2) NTMs, respectively. The non-modulated ECCD, radial misalignment as well as current profile broadening have deleterious effect on the NTM stabilization. The time required for suppression of(3,2) mode is shorter than that required for the suppression of(2,1) mode. Moreover, the time needed for complete stabilization at different initial island width has been quantitatively presented and analyzed.  相似文献
