The preparation of a series of neutral ligands featuring ether and N-methyl-N-carbethoxypentylamide groups is described. These ligands as well as related ones bearing other diamide groups are shown to selectively chelate Group IIA cations by picrate extraction from water to methylene chloride. The changes in UV absorption of aromatic rings and amide groups in the ligands upon titration with metal salts in methanol allow the estimation of the stoichiometry of complexation and the ordering of cation binding. The observed selectivity sequences of cation extraction and binding are briefly discussed. Preliminary proton and 13C NMR studies on the effect of addition of Group IIA cation salts to several of the ligands in methanol suggest that most of the complexation occurs at the central ether and amide groups. 13C NMR T1 changes by the Inversion Recovery Fourier Transform method are in agreement with the cation-induced shift data.  相似文献

Spectroscopy has been used to determine the number of coordinated water molecules bound to Eu(III) and Cm(III) in a series of binary complexes of polyaminocarboxylate and their ternary complexes with dicarboxylates as well as with similar ligands with additional O-, N-, and S-donors. Complexes of Eu(III) and Cm(III) with polyaminocarboxylate alone contain ca. 2.5–3.0 waters of hydration. Increasing the steric requirement of a polyaminocarboxylate by increasing the number of groups in the ligand backbone does not appreciably change the hydration of these cations. The stability constants of the binary and ternary complexes of Cm(III), Am(III), and Eu(III) with these ligands were measured by solvent extraction in a solution of 0.1 M (NaClO4). The size, basicity, specific M3+-second ligand interactions, and steric requirement of the ligands are the factors which affect the ternary complexation. Knowledge of the chemical species formed by actinide cations with organic ligands (carboxylates and aminocarboxylates), which are present in all nuclear waste, is important to understand the behavior of waste forms and the migration behavior of actinides in the environment.  相似文献

Separation of trivalent actinides (An(III)) and lanthanides (Ln(III)) is a challenging task in the nuclear fuel cycle due to their similar charge and chemical behaviour. Some soft donor ligands show selectivity for An(III) over Ln(III) due to the formation of stronger covalent bonds with the former. The extraction behaviour of Am(III) and Eu(III) is studied in the present work with a mixture of Cyanex-301 (bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)di-thiophosphinic acid) with several various ??N??, ??O?? or ??S?? donor neutral ligands. Comparison of the data was done with that of the oxygen donor analogue of Cyanex-301, i.e. Cyanex-272 (bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)phosphinic acid). Effect of the organic diluent on the extraction behaviour of Am(III) using Cyanex-301 in presence of ??N?? donor synergists was also studied. Ab initio molecular orbital calculations were carried out using GAMESS software and charges on the donor atoms were calculated which helped in understanding the co-ordination chemistry of the ligands and explained the separation behaviour.  相似文献

Two new square pyramidal iron(III)-complexes of ‘salen’-type Schiff base ligands containing 4-substituted long alkoxy arms on the aromatic rings, [Fe(4-C16H33O)2salcn)]Cl and [Fe(4-C16H33O)2salophen)]Cl {salcn = N,N?-cyclohexanebis(salicylideneiminato) and salophen = N,N?-phenylenebis(salicylideneiminato)}, have been successfully synthesised, and their mesomorphic property investigated. The ligands and complexes were characterised by elemental analyses, UV–Vis, FT-IR, ESI–MS, 1H and 13C NMR (for ligands only). The phase behaviour of the iron(III) complexes were ascertained by differential scanning calorimetry, polarising optical microscopy and variable temperature PXRD study. Ligands are non-mesomorphic, however, mesomorphism got induced upon complexation with the iron(III) centre. X-ray diffraction study revealed a layer-like arrangement of the five coordinated mesomorphic iron(III) complexes. The mesophase is stable over a wide range of temperature. The density functional theory calculations were carried out using Gaussian 09 program at B3LYP level using unrestricted 6–31G (d, p) basis set to obtain the optimised geometry of the iron(III) complexes.  相似文献

A series of cobalt(III) anionic complexes with hydroxyimino analogs of dipeptides – oximes of pyruvylglycine, pyruvyl-l-alanine, pyruvyl-l-methionine and pyruvyl-l-phenylalanine (H2pamaco, amac = amino acid) of composition Cat3[Co(H−1pamaco)2] · nH2O (Cat – a monovalent metal cation) has been synthesized and investigated by UV–Vis, CD and 1H NMR spectroscopy. It was established that for the two latter ligands, non-racemic mixtures of two diastereomeric complexes were formed as a result of synthesis. In comparison with the complex containing pyruvyl-l-alanine, in which the relative content of R (C2) and S (C2) isomers is approximately equal, the presence of bulky substituents in the molecules of Met- and Phe-containing ligands results in a significant discrimination in formation of the S (C2) isomer. This conclusion was drawn upon analysis of the CD and NMR spectral data as well as from molecular modeling. The relative content of the diastereomers was evaluated on the basis of NMR data. The protonation constants of the ligands have been determined in aqueous solution by glass electrode potentiometry, whereas their interactions with Co(II) were studied both under argon and oxygen atmosphere.  相似文献

The binding properties of three p-tert-butyldihomooxacalix[4]arene tetraketone derivatives (tert-butyl 2b, adamantyl 2c and phenyl 2d) in the cone conformation and one derivative (methyl 2a) in a partial cone conformation, towards alkali and alkaline earth metal cations have been established by extraction studies of metal picrates from water into dichloromethane, stability constant measurements in methanol and acetonitrile, and by 1H NMR spectrometry. Transport experiments of metal picrates through a dichloromethane membrane were also performed. The results are compared to those obtained with closely-related calix[n]arene derivatives (n = 4 and 5) and discussed in terms of the substituents, size and conformational effects. Methylketone 2a is a poor binder for all the cations studied, due to its partial cone conformation. Ketones 2b, 2c and 2d show high extraction and complexation levels for the alkali cations, with similar profiles and preference for K+ and Na+ (plateau selectivity). Towards alkaline earth cations, these ketones show a strong peak selectivity for Ba2+ in extraction, but a plateau selectivity for Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+ in complexation. The nature of the substituent attached to the ketone function has some influence on their binding properties, with phenylketone 2d being a slightly weaker binder than ketones 2b and 2c. 1H NMR titrations confirm the formation of 1:1 complexes between the ketones and the cations studied, also indicating that they should be located inside the cavity defined by the phenoxy and carbonyl oxygen atoms. Ketones 2b, 2c and 2d show transport rates that do not follow, in general, the same trends observed in extraction and complexation.  相似文献

Coordination compounds based on imidazole and benzimidazole substituted nitronyl nitroxide radicals with transition metal ions and trivalent lanthanide ions are described from the perspective of their magnetic properties. For the transition metal compounds the crystal structures show various metal-nitroxide dimensionalities including mononuclear (0D), one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) complexes. The mononuclear complexes were isolated with most metal ions of the first transition series. One copper(II) complex shows a copper(II)-radical ferromagnetic coupling (J = +75 cm−1) while for the other mononuclear compounds, mainly with manganese(II), the metal-radical interactions are antiferromagnetic. The one-dimensional and two-dimensional complexes are manganese(II) compounds which show canting effects leading to weak ferromagnetism. For the trivalent lanthanide ions [La(III), Gd(III) and Eu(III)], three series of mononuclear complexes were obtained in which the metal center is bound to four, two or one nitroxide radicals depending on the counter ions and ancillary ligands. Unexpectedly, in most gadolinium(III) complexes, the Gd(III)-radical interactions were found to be antiferromagnetic in contradiction with other foundings and previous theoretical models. In support to the magnetic studies, the optical properties of the lantanide complexes have also been investigated and are briefly described.  相似文献

Terbium(III) and dysprosium(III) nitrate complexes with variously substituted 2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-ones (L1)-(L10) of general formula [Ln(L)(NO3)2(H2O)2]NO3 have been synthesized. These complexes have been characterized by analytical, spectral and thermal studies. Molar conductance data show that these complexes are 1:1 electrolytes. The presence of two coordinated water molecules is confirmed by thermal and infrared spectral studies. IR spectral data indicate that piperidin-4-ones, in spite of having two coordinating sites, are monodentate, coordinating only through ring nitrogen. The IR and conductance data reveal the presence of two bidentate and one ionic nitrate groups. The nephelauxetic ratio (β), covalency factor (b1/2) and Sinha’s parameter (δ) evaluated from electronic spectral data of dysprosium(III) complexes indicate a little covalency in metal-ligand bonding.  相似文献

Two polydentade Schiff base ligands and their Ru(III), Cr(III) and Fe(III) complexes were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis (C, H, N), UV/Vis, FT IR, 1H and 13C NMR, LC–MS/MS, molar conductivity and magnetic susceptibility techniques. The absorption bands in the electronic spectra and magnetic moment measurements verified an octahedral environment around the metal ions in the complexes. The thermal stabilities were investigated using TGA. The synthesized complexes were used in the catalytic oxidation of 2-methyl naphthalene (2MN) to 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone; vitamin K3, menadione, 2MNQ; using hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid and sulfuric acid. L1-Fe(III) complex showed very efficient catalytic activity with 58.54% selectivity in the conversions of 79.11%.  相似文献

The complexation of Eu(III), Am(III) and Cm(III) with dicarboxylate anions with O, N or S donor groups was measured in I=6.60 mol⋅kg−1 (NaClO4) at temperatures of 0–60 °C by potentiometry and solvent extraction. The complexation thermodynamics of these complexes show that their stability is due to highly favorable complexation entropies because the complexation enthalpies are endothermic. Luminescence studies with Eu(III) and Cm(III) were used to measure the hydration numbers of the complexes. NMR spectra of 1H and 13C were used to determine the binding modes of La(III) with the ligands. The formation of 1:1:1 ternary complexes of M(EDTA) with the dicarboxylate ligands was studied to determine changes in coordination of the metal cation with formation of the ternary species. The complexation of ternary complexes changes from bidentate to monodentate as the chain length between the binding sites of the dicarboxylates increases from 1 (malonate) to 4 (adipate). DFT computations were used to confirm the structural aspects of the interaction of these complexes.  相似文献

To improve understanding of aza-complexants in trivalent actinide?Clanthanide separations, a series of tetradentate N-donor ligands have been synthesized and their complexation of americium(III) and neodymium(III) investigated by UV?Cvisible spectrophotometry in methanolic solutions. The six pyridine/alkyl amine/imine ligands are N,N??-bis(2-methylpyridyl)-1,2-diaminoethane, N,N??-bis(2-methylpyridyl)-1,3-diaminopropane, trans-N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane (BPMDAC), N,N??-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)piperazine, N,N??-bis-[pyridin-2-ylmethylene]ethane-1,2-diamine, and trans-N,N-bis-([pyridin-2-ylmethylene]-cyclohexane-1,2-diamine. Each ligand has two pyridine groups and two aliphatic amine/imine N-donor atoms arranged with different degrees of preorganization and structural backbone rigidity. Conditional stability constants for the complexes of Am(III) and Nd(III) by these ligands establish the selectivity patterns. The overall selectivity of Am(III) over Nd(III) is similar to that reported for the terdentate bis(dialkyltriazinyl)pyridine molecules. The cyclohexane amine derivative (BPMDAC) is the strongest complexant and shows the highest selectivity for Am(III) over Nd(III) while the imines appear to prefer a bridging arrangement between two cations. These results suggest that this series of ligands could be employed to develop an enhanced actinide(III)?Clanthanide(III) separation system.  相似文献

Separation of trivalent lanthanides (Ln(III)) and actinides (An(III)) is a key issue in the advanced spent nuclear fuel reprocessing. In the well-known trivalent actinide lanthanide separation by phosphorus reagent extraction from aqueous komplexes (TALSPEAK) process, the organophosphorus ligand HDEHP (di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid) has been used as an efficient reagent for the partitioning of Ln(III) from An(III) with the combination of a holdback reagent in aqueous lactate buffer solution. In this work, the structural and electronic properties of Eu3+ and Am3+ complexes with HDEHP in nitric acid solution have been systematically explored by using scalar-relativistic density functional theory (DFT). It was found that HDEHP can coordinate with M(III) (M=Eu, Am) cations in the form of hydrogen-bonded dimers HL2- (L=DEHP), and the metal ions prefer to coordinate with the phosphoryl oxygen atom of the ligand. For all the extraction complexes, the metal-ligand bonds are mainly ionic in nature. Although Eu(III) complexes have higher interaction energies, the HL2- dimer shows comparable affinity for Eu(III) and Am(III) according to thermodynamic analysis, which may be attributed to the higher stabilities of Eu(III) nonahydrate. It is expected that this work could provide insightful information on the complexation of An(III) and Ln(III) with HDEHP at the molecular level.  相似文献

The separation of trivalent actinides and lanthanides is a challenging task for chemists because of their similar charge and chemical behavior. Soft donor ligands like Cyanex-301 were found to be selective for the trivalent actinides over the lanthanides. Formation of different extractable species for Am(3+) and various lanthanides (viz. La(3+), Eu(3+), and Lu(3+)) was explained on the basis of their relative stabilities as compared to their corresponding trinitrato complexes calculated using the density functional method. Further, the metal-ligand complexation energy was segregated into electrostatic, Pauli repulsion, and orbital interaction components. Higher covalence in the M-S bond in the dithiophosphinate complexes as compared to the M-O bond in the nitrate complexes was reflected in the higher orbital and lower electrostatic interactions for the complexes with increasing number of dithiophosphinate ligands. Higher affinity of the dithiophosphinate ligands for Am(3+) over Eu(3+) was corroborated with higher covalence in the Am-S bond as compared to the Eu-S bond, which was reflected in shorter bond length in the case of the former and higher ligand to metal charge transfer in Am(III)-dithiophosphinate complexes. The results were found to be consistent in gas phase density functional theory (DFT) calculations using different GGA functional. More negative complexation energies in the case of Eu(3+) complexes of Me(2)PS(2)(-) as compared to the corresponding Am(3+) complexes in spite of marginally higher covalence in the Am-S bond as compared to the Eu-S bond might be due to higher ionic interaction in the Eu(3+) complexes in the gas phase calculations. The higher covalence in the Am-S bond obtained from the gas phase studies of their geometries and electronic structures solely cannot explain the selectivity of the dithiophosphinate ligands for Am(3+) over Eu(3+). Presence of solvent may also play an important role to control the selectivity as observed from higher complexation energies for Am(3+) in the presence of solvent. Thus, the theoretical results were able to explain the experimentally observed trends in the metal-ligand complexation affinity.  相似文献

Abstract

Mono-, tetra-, and octa-bromo substituted Mn(II)- and Mn(III)-tetraarylporphyrins were synthesized by reactions of manganese(II) chloride with corresponding porphyrin ligands or their Cd(II)-complexes in DMF. With the use of the metal exchange reaction, the time of the Mn-porphyrins formation is significantly reduced with increase in yield of final products in comparison with the complexation reaction. Mn(III)-tetraarylporphyrins reduce to the Mn(II)-porphyrins in DMF in the presence of NaOH and in pure DMF. The obtained compounds were identified using UV–vis and 1H NMR spectroscopy, mass-spectrometry, and elemental analysis.  相似文献

Interaction of asymmetrical Schiff base ligands H3Ln [where H3Ln are substituted 3–aza–4–(2–hydroxyphenyl)–N– (2–hydroxyphenyl)but–3–enamide] with Mn(acac)3 (acac = acetylacetonate) has been investigated. Two different type of manganese(III) complexes have been obtained depending on the nature of the substituents on the ligand. We have found that ligands containing donor substituents drives to the formation of two different kinds of complexes from the same reaction: Mn(Ln)(H2O)x ( 1a–5a ) and [Mn(HLn)(acac)](H2O)y ( 1b–5b ) (where Ln and HLn signify the ligand in its trianionic and dianionic form, respectively). However, when the substituents are electron withdrawing or poor donor only compounds of the type [Mn(HLn)(acac)](H2O)y ( 6–10 ) are obtained. All these compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, FAB mass spectrometry, magnetic measurements and molar conductivities. The electrochemical behaviour of these complexes has also been studied.  相似文献

Studies on the complexation of copper(II) by phenolic acids, as ligand models of humic substances were done by potentiometry. The acids under study were: 3,4-dihydroxyhydrocinnamic acid or hydrocaffeic acid (1), 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (2) and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid or protocatechuic acid (3). Acidity constants of the ligands and the formation constants of metal-ligand complexes were evaluated by computer programs. The carboxylic group of the phenolic acids has different pKa1 values, being the dissociation constants intrinsically related with the distance between the function and the aromatic nucleus. The results obtained allow concluding that acidity constants of the catechol moiety of the compounds are similar with pKa2 and pKa3 values between 9.47-9.41 and 11.55-11.70. The complexation properties of the three ligands towards copper(II) ion are quite similar, being the species found not different either in nature or stability. Although the model ligands have some structural differences no significant differences were found in their complexation properties towards copper(II). So, it can be postulated that complexation process is intrinsically related with the presence of a catechol group.  相似文献

A series of neodymium(III) and samarium(III) complexes of type [Ln(L)Cl(H2O)3] have been synthesized with Schiff bases (LH2) derived from 3‐(phenyl/substituted phenyl)‐4‐amino‐5‐mercapto‐1,2,4‐triazoles and isatin. The structures of the complexes were established using elemental analysis, molar conductivities, magnetic moments, infrared, NMR (1H, 13C) and UV–visible spectra, X‐ray diffraction and mass spectrometry. The thermal behaviour of these compounds under non‐isothermal conditions was investigated using thermogravimetry and differential thermogravimetry. The intermediates obtained at the end of various thermal decomposition steps were identified from elemental analysis and infrared spectral studies. All the ligands and their complexes were also screened for their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis and antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Colletotrichum capsici. The screening results were correlated with the structural features of the compounds. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Novel aluminum(III)- and zirconium(IV)-tetraphenylporhyrin (TPP) derivatives are examined as fluoride-selective ionophores for preparing polymer membrane-based ion-selective electrodes (ISEs). The influence of t-butyl- or dichloro-phenyl ring substituents as well as the nature of the metal ion center (Al(III) versus Zr(IV)) on the anion complexation constants of TPP derivative ionophores are reported. The anion binding stability constants of the ionophores are characterized by the so-called “sandwich membrane” method. All of the metalloporphyrins examined form their strongest anion complexes with fluoride. The influence of plasticizer as well as the type of lipophilic ionic site additive and their amounts in the sensing membrane are discussed. It is shown that membrane electrodes formulated with the metalloporphyrin derivatives and appropriate anionic or cationic additives exhibit enhanced potentiometric response toward fluoride over all other anions tested. Since selectivity toward fluoride is enhanced in the presence of both anionic and cationic additives, the metalloporphyrins can function as either charged or neutral carriers within the organic membrane phase. In contrast to previously reported fluoride-selective polymeric membrane electrodes based on metalloporphyrins, nernstian or near-nernstian (−51.2 to −60.1 mV decade−1) as well as rapid (t < 80 s) and fully reversible potentiometric fluoride responses are observed. Moreover, use of aluminum(III)-t-butyltetraphenylporphyrin as the ionophore provides fluoride sensors with prolonged (7 months) functional lifetime.  相似文献

Two new phosphine oxide-functionalized 1,10-phenanthroline ligands, tetradentate 2,9-bis(butylphenylphosphine oxide)-1,10-phenanthroline (BuPh-BPPhen, L1 ) and tridentate 2-(butylphenylphosphine oxide)-1,10-phenanthroline (BuPh-MPPhen, L2 ), were synthesized and studied comparatively for their coordination with trivalent actinides and lanthanides. The complexation mechanisms of these two ligands toward trivalent f-block elements were thoroughly elucidated by NMR spectroscopy, UV/vis spectrophotometry, fluorescence spectrometry, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, solvent extraction, and theoretical calculation methods. NMR titration results demonstrated that 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 (metal to ligand) lanthanides complexes formed for L1 , whereas 1 : 1, 1 : 2 and 1 : 3 lanthanide complexes formed for L2 in methanol. The formation of these species was validated by fluorescence spectrometry, and the corresponding stability constants for the complexes of NdIII with L1 and L2 were determined by using UV/vis spectrophotometry. Structures of the 10-coordinated 1 : 1-type complexes of Eu L1 (NO3)3 and [Eu L2 (NO3)3(H2O)] Et2O in the solid state were characterized by X-ray crystallography. In solvent-extraction experiments, L1 exhibited extremely strong extraction ability for both AmIII and EuIII, whereas L2 showed nearly no extraction toward AmIII or EuIII due to its high hydrophilicity. Finally, the structures and bonding natures of the complex species formed between AmIII/EuIII and L1/L2 were analyzed in DFT calculations.  相似文献

The reactions of Ga(acac)3 with salicylaldoxime (saoH2) and methyl-salicylaldoxime (Me-saoH2) in dichloromethane/hexane afforded the complexes [Ga(acac)(saoH)2] (1) and [Ga(acac)3][Ga(acac)(MesaoH)2] (2), respectively, in high yields. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Both complexes are mononuclear with the Ga(III) atoms being in octahedral environments surrounded by two bidentate chelate R-saoH and one bidentate chelate acac ligands. A [Ga(acac)3] moiety has co-crystallized along with the methylsalicylaldoximato complex. Characteristic IR as well as NMR data are discussed in terms of the nature of bonding in the structures of the two complexes. 1H and 13C NMR data in CDCl3 indicate that the salicylaldoximato complexes isomerize in solution.  相似文献
