Mg0.54Zn0.46Fe2O4 ferrites are studied by X-ray diffraction, and different-scale structural groups with short-range, mesoscopic, and long-range atomic orders are revealed in them. These groups are shown to undergo interrelated order-disorder-order phase transitions during high-temperature annealing at 1280°C for 0.5–8.0 h, which are accompanied by maximum changes in the structural parameters.

Abstract

The equilibrium phase behaviour of a model binary fluid is investigated through Monte Carlo simulations and by developing a molecular thermodynamic model. Both fluid components interact through a hard core with short-range attractions (SA), but one of the components exhibits an additional long-range repulsion (SA+LR). We find that phase behaviour for this system is controlled by the cross-interaction between the two types of particles as well as their chemical potentials. For a weak cross-interaction, the system displays behaviour that is a composite of the behaviour of the individual components, i.e. the SA component can display bulk vapour/liquid phase separation, while the SALR component can display giant micelle-like clusters for a suitable combination of SA and LR interactions. For a strong cross-interaction, qualitatively different behaviour is observed, with the resulting clusters typically composed of a more equal mixture of SA and SALR particles. Moreover, these mixed clusters can exist even when the SA component by itself would be undersaturated or supercritical, and/or when the SALR component by itself would not form giant clusters. These insights should help to identify the mechanisms for clustering in experimental systems where giant equilibrium clusters are observed.  相似文献

We investigate phase transitions of two-dimensional Ising models with power-law interactions, using an efficient Monte Carlo algorithm. For slow decay, the transition is of the mean-field type; for fast decay, it belongs to the short-range Ising universality class. We focus on the intermediate range, where the critical exponents depend continuously on the power law. We find that the boundary with short-range critical behavior occurs for interactions depending on distance r as r(-15/4). This answers a long-standing controversy between mutually conflicting renormalization-group analyses.  相似文献

We analyze the thermal fluctuations of particles that have a short-range dipolar attraction and a long-range repulsion. In an inhomogeneous particle density region, or "soft phase," filamentary patterns appear which are destroyed only at very high temperatures. The filaments act as a fluctuating template for correlated percolation in which low-energy excitations can move through the stable pattern by local rearrangements. At intermediate temperatures, dynamically averaged checkerboard states appear. We discuss possible implications for doped cuprate oxides and related materials.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose and then analyze two generalized Deffuant–Weisbuch (DW) models. The generalized models extend the conventional DW model by taking multiple choices in two different ways. First, we demonstrate the almost sure convergence of the agent opinions for the short-range multi-choice DW dynamics when only the opinions within confidence regions may be count in. Then we analyze dynamical behavior about the long-range multi-choice DW model when some opinions out of the confidence ranges are considered with a weighted combination. Moreover, both theoretical and simulation results show that the dynamical behaviors of the two models are totally different.  相似文献

A general recursive relation for the total multiplicity distribution is derived from a random cascading model with intermittency. The conditions for the existence of a fixed point solution are formulated. An explicit example of such a solution, corresponding to the negative binomial multiplicity distribution is presented. The intimate connection between random cascading models and models of disordered systems is explained and explored. Long-distance properties of the interaction are related to the spectrum of states describing the interaction at short range.  相似文献

Long-range Coloumb - and exchange interactions - leading to bound exciton states at the onset of the optical spectra of semiconductors and to Fano-type excitonic resonances in the continuum - and short-range Coulomb - and exchange interaction, that lead to a red shift in the low-energy part of the spectra as compared to one-particle calculations, are treated in a unified approach. Almost quantitative agreement between theoretical absorption spectra is obtained without any fitting parameter in the case of sc TlCl.  相似文献

Previous studies about synchronization of Kuramoto oscillators in complex networks have shown how local patterns of synchronization emerge differently in homogeneous and heterogeneous topologies. The main difference between the paths to synchronization in both topologies is rooted in the growth of the largest connected component of synchronized nodes when increasing the coupling between the oscillators. Nevertheless, a recent study focusing on this same phenomenon has claimed the contrary, stating that the statistical distribution of synchronized clusters for both types of networks is similar. Here we provide extensive numerical evidences that confirm the original claims, namely, that the microscopic and mesoscopic dynamics of the synchronized patterns indeed follow different routes.  相似文献

Within the single band 2D-Hubbard model treated by means of a strong-coupling approach based on a cumulant expansion and a nonstandard diagrammatic technique, we discuss the existence of critical charge fluctuations that could give rise to an instability towards a phase separation (PS). It turns out that such instability exists and evolves into an incommensurate charge density wave (ICDW) when long-range Coulomb forces are taken into account. We find a stripe phase with a crossover from diagonal to vertical stripes at increasing doping in the range 0.01 ?δ? 0.2 and increasing Coulomb potential U, similarly to recent NMR experiments on La 2 - x Sr x CuO 4. We study a model in which particles interact with short-ranged attractive and long-ranged repulsive interactions, in an attempt to model the equilibrium cluster phase recently discovered in sterically stabilized colloidal systems in the presence of depletion interactions. At low packing fractions, particles form stable equilibrium clusters which act as building blocks of a cluster fluid. We study the possibility that cluster fluids generate a low-density disordered arrested phase, a gel, via a glass transition driven by the repulsive interaction. In this model the gel formation is formally described with the same physics of the glass formation.  相似文献

Using the numerical solution of the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation of a one-dimensional model atom in a two-colour laser field, we have investigated the effects of the potential models on coherent control of atomic multiphoton ionization. It is found that the photoelectron spectra are obviously different for the long-range (Coulomb-like) and short-range (with no excited bound states) potential model atoms, which are produced by two-colour coherent control of atomic multiphoton ionization in a few laser cycles. Our results indicate that two-colour coherent control of atomic multiphoton ionization can be observed in simulations, depending on the choice of the model potentials.  相似文献

The magnetoresistance of a 2D electron gas confined in narrow GaAs quantum wells with AlAs/GaAs superlattice barriers is studied in the classical range of magnetic fields. It is shown that the negative magnetoresistance observed in this kind of structures with nonplanar heterointerfaces is semiclassical and qualitatively agrees with the model of negative magnetoresistance due to the scattering of charge carriers by two types of random potential, namely, the short-range and long-range ones.  相似文献

In this work, the magnetic properties and critical behavior around ferromagnetic–paramagnetic (FM–PM) phase transition in Ba1.7La0.3FeMoO6 compound have been investigated in detail. This compound exhibits a second-order magnetic phase transition with Curie temperature TC = 345 K. The critical exponents β, γ, and δ that are determined by using the modified Arrott plots (MAP), the Kouvel–Fisher (KF) and the critical isotherm analysis agree very well. Our results indicate a coexistence of short-range and long-range ferromagnetic (FM) interactions in Ba1.7La0.3FeMoO6 compound. The existence of long-range FM interactions in this compound can be associated with the crystal structure of materials with long-range Fe/Mo ordering parameter and strength of double-exchange interaction, whereas the existence of the short-range FM interactions can be explained by magnetic inhomogeneity and FM clusters.  相似文献
