In the even case of optimal interpolation these weights are unique except forr=1,x(x k +x k–1)/2 mod 2. Moreover we get periodic polynomial splinesw k, j (0k<n, 0j<v k ) of orderr such that are the optimal weights. Certain optimal quadrature formulas are shown to be of interpolatory type with respect to these splines. For the odd case of optimal interpolation we merely have obtained a partial solution.

Summary We consider two-point boundary value problems for linear differential equations (of ordern). The main part consists in proving stronger apriori estimates for (mn–1) using discreteL 1-norms of the involved right-hand sides; thus extending known results for discreteL p -norms with 2p. These estimates are the main tool in proving sharp estimates for the error \y–y h \ h, as well asfor \P y P h y h \ h, , whereP h denotes a consistent approximation of the differential operatorP of ordermn–1, in terms of the discretL 1-norm of the truncation error. By means of an interpolation technique these estimates yield a correct estimate of the order of convergence, also in case that the solution satisfies locally some Lipschitz-conditions.  相似文献

Summary In this paper we study the convergence properties of a fully discrete Galerkin approximation with a backwark Euler time discretization scheme. An approach based on semigroup theory is used to deal with the nonsmooth Dirichlet boundary data which cannot be handled by standard techniques. It is shown that a.s. there existt 0 and >0 such thatZ(t 0) is an extremal point of the convex hull of {Z(t)|t 0–tt0} and also an extremal point of the convex hull of {Z(t)|t 0tt0+} and, moreover, the tangent lines to the convex hulls atZ(t 0) form a non-zero angle.The result is related to the following unsolved problem of S.J. Summary A semidiscrete Galerkin finite element method is defined and analyzed for nonlinear evolution equations of Sobolev type in a single space variable. Optimal orderL p error estimates are derived for 2p. And it is shown that the rates of convergence of the approximate solution and its derivative are one order better than the optimal order at certain spatial Jacobi and Gauss points, respectively. Also the standard nodal superconvergence results are established. Futher, it is considered that an a posteriori procedure provides superconvergent approximations at the knots for the spatial derivatives of the exact solution.  相似文献

We show that the r-dominated polynomials on p(2 p ) are integral on 1, and give examples proving that the converse is not true. We characterize when the 2-homogeneous, diagonal polynomials on p(1 < p ) are r-dominated. It is well known that continuous bilinear forms on C(K) × C(K) are 2-dominated. This paper shows that generalizations of this result are not to be expected. The main result asserts that for every -space E(1 p ), every n 2, every r > 0 and every Banach space F , there exists an n-homogeneous polynomial P : E F such that P is not of type [r], hence P is neither r-dominated nor r-semi-integral (if n = 2 and p = , F is supposed to contain an isomorphic copy of some , 1q < ).Received: 24 November 2003  相似文献

A closed expression is derived for the integral 0 /2 log n cosxlog p sinxdx, wheren andp are non-negative integers. As already remarked by Nielsen in a monograph on the generalized polylogarithms published early in this century, this integral is equal to times a homogeneous polynomial in (q) (the Riemann zeta function for integer arguments) and log 2, with rational coefficients. Let E be a vector space with a topology generated by countably many increasing seminorms p1 p2 ...and let p i be the completion of E/ker (pi) with respect to pi. If pi are norms compatible in a certain sense, it is known that E is a complete space if and only if E=i=1 p i . In this paper we give a similar characterization of complete spaces in a general case when pi are seminorms, without any additional assumptions. The paper is devoted to the study of completeness problem of systems { n (x)} n=0 inL p (a, b), where –a<b+,(x) is a weight function subject to mild assumptions, and(x) is a continuous function on (a,b), either bounded or unbounded in the neighbourhood of the end-points of (a,b). It turns out that this problem is connected with that of quasianalyticity of certain additive set of functions at a given point. As the most important application of the general results, the completeness problem is treated for systems of orthogonal polynomials.  相似文献

Summary We consider a spline collocation method for strongly elliptic zero order pseudodifferential equationsp gw Au=f on a cube =(0, 1) m . Utilizing multilinear spline functions which are zero at the boundary we collocate at the meshpoints inside . For classical strongly elliptic translation invariant pseudodifferential operators, we verify the stability of the considered collocation method inL 2().
