The authors regret that incorrect details were cited in the following sections of text from the original article. In the section heading titled ‘Photocatalytic H2 production and mechanism analysis’, for the sentence ‘Fig. 4b shows that the CPs dispersed in AA/H2O/NMP exhibit 1.5–44 times higher HER than the dispersions in AA/H2O/MeOH, which are mainly ascribed to the exfoliation effect in NMP (Fig. S2, S4 and S5†),37 yielding colloidal CPs that possess more exposed active sites and a shorter migration distance of charge carriers compared to their bulk counterparts in MeOH’, the correct version should cite ref. 36 instead of ref. 37. The correct details for this citation are given below as ref. 1.Incorrect details were also given in the section heading titled ‘C–H direct arylation vs. classical Stille coupling’, for the sentence ‘More impressively, the PHP activities of both DArP-derived BSO2–EDOT and DBT–EDOT are superior to those of their Stille-derived counterparts, i.e., 0.95 vs. 0.91 mmol h−1 for BSO2–EDOT and St–BSO2–EDOT, and 0.39 vs. 0.26 mmol h−1 for DBT–EDOT and St–DBT–EDOT (Fig. S13†), which were contrary to our previous results.30,’ the correct version should cite ref. 29 instead of ref. 30. A stepwise build-up of multi-substituted Csp3 carbon centers is an attractive, conceptually simple, but often synthetically challenging type of disconnection. To this end, this report describes how gem-α,α-dimetalloid-substituted benzylic reagents bearing boron/silicon or boron/tin substituent sets are an excellent stepping stone towards diverse substitution patterns. These gem-dimetalloids were readily accessed, either by known carbenoid insertion into C–B bonds or by the newly developed scalable deprotonation/metallation approach. Highly chemoselective transformations of either the C–Si (or C–Sn) or the C–B bonds in the newly formed gem-Csp3 centers have been achieved through a set of approaches, with a particular focus on exploiting the synthetically versatile polarity reversal in organometalloids by λ3-aryliodanes. Of particular note is the metal-free arylation of the C–Si (or C–Sn) bonds in such gem-dimetalloids via the iodane-guided C–H coupling approach. DFT calculations show that this transfer of the (α-Bpin)benzyl group proceeds via unusual [5,5]-sigmatropic rearrangement and is driven by the high-energy iodine(iii) center. As a complementary tool, the gem-dimetalloid C–B bond is shown to undergo a potent and chemoselective Suzuki–Miyaura arylation with diverse Ar–Cl, thanks to the development of the reactive gem-α,α-silyl/BF3K building blocks.

This work explores divergent reactivity of the benzylic gem-boron–silicon and boron–tin double nucleophiles, including the arylation of the C–B bond with Ar–Cl, along with a complementary oxidative λ3-iodane-guided arylation of the C–Si/Sn moiety.  相似文献

In the most general practice of asymmetric catalysis, a chiral catalyst, typically bearing a center or an axis of chirality, is employed as the chiral source for imparting enantiocontrol over the developing product. Given the current interest toward optically pure compounds, various forms of chiral induction enabled by diverse chiral sources as well as the use of multiple catalysts under one-pot conditions have been in focus. In one such promising development, an achiral N-sulfonamide protected 1,6-amino allyl alcohol (NaphSO2NHCH2C(Ph)2CH2CH Created by potrace 1.16, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2019 CHCH2OH) was subjected to Tsuji–Trost activation and an intramolecular amination to form important chiral pyrrolidine frameworks. A dual catalytic system comprising Pd(PPh3)4 and DAPCy (β-cyclohexyl substituted double axially chiral phosphoric acid derived from two homocoupled BINOL backbones with a dynamic central chiral axis) under mild conditions was reported to offer quantitative conversion with an ee of 95%. Here, we provide molecular insights into the origin of chiral induction by DAPCy, as obtained through a comprehensive density functional theory (SMD(toluene)/B3LYP-D3/6-31G**,Pd(SDD)) investigation. Two key steps in the mechanism are identified to involve a cooperative mode of activation of the Pd-bound allyl alcohol in the form of a Pd-π-allyl moiety at one end of the substrate, followed by an intramolecular nucleophilic addition of N-sulfonamide from the other end to yield a pyrrolidine derivative bearing an α-vinyl stereogenic center. (S,R,S)-DAPCy is found to steer the dehydroxylation to yield a Pd-π-allyl intermediate with a suitably poised si prochiral face for the nucleophilic addition. In the enantiocontrolled (as well as the turn-over determining step) nucleophilic addition, the chiral catalyst is identified to serve as a chiral phosphate counterion. The chiral induction is facilitated by a series of N–H⋯O, C–H⋯O, C–H⋯π, lone pair (lp)⋯π, O–H⋯O, O–H⋯π, and π⋯π noncovalent interactions, which is noted as more effective in the lower energy C–N bond formation transition state through the si prochiral face of the Pd-π-allyl moiety. These insights into the novel dynamic axially double chiral catalyst could be valuable toward exploiting such modes of stereoinduction.

The origin of enantiocontrol in an intramolecular amination involving Pd(PPh3)4 and a double axially chiral phosphoric acid (DAPCy) dual catalytic system is traced to a more effective series of noncovalent interactions in the lower energy C–N bond formation transition state.  相似文献

Based on the well-defined five-membered aryl gold(iii) complexes, [Au(tpy)X2] (3a and 3b) and [AuBr(Ph)(tpy)] (7), as well as the aryl gold(iii) complex [AuCl2(Ph)(tpy)] (8) (tpy = 2-(o-tolyl)pyridine) as reliable models, we present a detailed study of the mechanism for gold(iii)-catalyzed oxidative cross-coupling reactions between cycloaurable arenes and arylboronic acids. Here we report the direct evidence for a mechanistic proposal including arene C–H activation, transmetallation and biaryl reductive elimination. The chelation-assisted C–H activation strategy has been used for the development of the gold(iii)-catalyzed C–H bond arylation of arenes with aryl reagents to forge extended π-conjugated systems.  相似文献

A tetra(o-tolyl) (μ-hydrido)diborane(4) anion 1, an analogue of [B2H5] species, was facilely prepared through the reaction of tetra(o-tolyl)diborane(4) with sodium hydride. Unlike common sp2–sp3 diborane species, 1 exhibited a σ-B–B bond nucleophilicity towards NHC-coordinated transition-metal (Cu, Ag, and Au) halides, resulting in the formation of η2-B–B bonded complexes 2 as confirmed by single-crystal X-ray analyses. Compared with 1, the structural data of 2 imply significant elongations of B–B bonds, following the order Au > Cu > Ag. DFT studies show that the diboron ligand interacts with the coinage metal through a three-center-two-electron B–M–B bonding mode. The fact that the B–B bond of the gold complex is much prolonged than the related Cu and Ag compounds might be ascribed to the superior electrophilicity of the gold atom.

A tetra(o-tolyl)(μ-hydrido)diborane(4) anion is facilely prepared via the reaction of tetra(o-tolyl)diborane(4) with NaH. It exhibits a σ-B–B bond nucleophilicity towards NHC-metal halides to give the corresponding η2-B–B bonded metal complexes.  相似文献

Diazirine reagents allow for the ready generation of carbenes upon photochemical, thermal, or electrical stimulation. Because carbenes formed in this way can undergo rapid insertion into any nearby C–H, O–H or N–H bond, molecules that encode diazirine functions have emerged as privileged tools in applications ranging from biological target identification and proteomics through to polymer crosslinking and adhesion. Here we use a combination of experimental and computational methods to complete the first comprehensive survey of diazirine structure–function relationships, with a particular focus on thermal activation methods. We reveal a striking ability to vary the activation energy and activation temperature of aryl diazirines through the rational manipulation of electronic properties. Significantly, we show that electron-rich diazirines have greatly enhanced efficacy toward C–H insertion, under both thermal and photochemical activation conditions. We expect these results to lead to significant improvements in diazirine-based chemical probes and polymer crosslinkers.

Electron-rich aryl diazirines have lower activation temperatures and a longer λmax than electron-poor analogues, and undergo C–H insertion up to ten-fold more efficiently—suggesting improved performance for biological probes and polymer crosslinkers.  相似文献

A copper catalyzed borocarbonylation of BCPs via proximal C–C bond cleavage for the synthesis of γ-boryl-γ,δ-unsaturated carbonyl compounds has been developed. Using substituted benzylidenecyclopropanes (BCPs) and chloroformates as starting material, a broad range of γ-boryl-γ,δ-unsaturated esters were prepared in moderate to excellent yields with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity. Besides, when aliphatic acid chlorides were used in this reaction, γ-boryl-γ,δ-unsaturated ketones could be produced in excellent yields. When substituted BCPs were used as substrates, the borocarbonylation occurred predominantly at the proximal C–C bond trans to the phenyl group in a regio- and stereoselective manner, which leads to the Z-isomers as the products. This efficient methodology involves the cleavage of a C–C bond and the formation of a C–C bond as well as a C–B bond, and provides a new method for the proximal C–C bond difunctionalization of BCPs.

A dinickel(0)–N2 complex, stabilized with a rigid acridane-based PNP pincer ligand, was studied for its ability to activate C(sp2)–H and C(sp2)–O bonds. Stabilized by a Ni–μ–N2–Na+ interaction, it activates C–H bonds of unfunctionalized arenes, affording nickel–aryl and nickel–hydride products. Concomitantly, two sodium cations get reduced to Na(0), which was identified and quantified by several methods. Our experimental results, including product analysis and kinetic measurements, strongly suggest that this C(sp2)–H activation does not follow the typical oxidative addition mechanism occurring at a low-valent single metal centre. Instead, via a bimolecular pathway, two powerfully reducing nickel ions cooperatively activate an arene C–H bond and concomitantly reduce two Lewis acidic alkali metals under ambient conditions. As a novel synthetic protocol, nickel(ii)–aryl species were directly synthesized from nickel(ii) precursors in benzene or toluene with excess Na under ambient conditions. Furthermore, when the dinickel(0)–N2 complex is accessed via reduction of the nickel(ii)–phenyl species, the resulting phenyl anion deprotonates a C–H bond of glyme or 15-crown-5 leading to C–O bond cleavage, which produces vinyl ether. The dinickel(0)–N2 species then cleaves the C(sp2)–O bond of vinyl ether to produce a nickel(ii)–vinyl complex. These results may provide a new strategy for the activation of C–H and C–O bonds mediated by a low valent nickel ion supported by a structurally rigidified ligand scaffold.

A structurally rigidified nickel(0) complex was found to be capable of cleaving both C(sp2)–H and C(sp2)–O bonds.  相似文献

Visible-light-driven organic transformations are of great interest in synthesizing valuable fine chemicals under mild conditions. The merger of heterogeneous photocatalysts and transition metal catalysts has recently drawn much attention due to its versatility for organic transformations. However, these semi-heterogenous systems suffered several drawbacks, such as transition metal agglomeration on the heterogeneous surface, hindering further applications. Here, we introduce heterogeneous single Ni atoms supported on carbon nitride (NiSAC/CN) for visible-light-driven C–N functionalization with a broad substrate scope. Compared to a semi-heterogeneous system, high activity and stability were observed due to metal–support interactions. Furthermore, through systematic experimental mechanistic studies, we demonstrate that the stabilized single Ni atoms on CN effectively change their redox states, leading to a complete photoredox cycle for C–N coupling.

In this work, the first demonstration of heterogeneous photoredox C–N coupling is reported using Ni atoms on C3N4. Due to metal–support interactions, high activity and stability were observed during visible-light-driven C–N functionalization.  相似文献

A direct Pd(ii)-catalyzed kinetic resolution of heteroaryl-enabled sulfoximines through an ortho-C–H alkenylation/arylation of arenes has been developed. The coordination of the sulfoximine pyridyl-motif and the chiral amino acid MPAA ligand to the Pd(ii)-catalyst controls the enantio-discriminating C(aryl)–H activation. This method provides access to a wide range of enantiomerically enriched unreacted aryl-pyridyl-sulfoximine precursors and C(aryl)–H alkenylation/arylation products in good yields with high enantioselectivity (up to >99% ee), and selectivity factor up to >200. The coordination preference of the directing group, ligand effect, geometry constraints, and the transient six-membered concerted-metalation–deprotonation species dictate the stereoselectivity; DFT studies validate this hypothesis.

A Pd/MPAA catalysed KR of heteroaryl substituted sulfoximines through C–H alkenylation and arylation (up to >99% ee) is developed. In-depth DFT studies uncover the salient features.  相似文献

A versatile silylation of heteroaryl C–H bonds is accomplished under the catalysis of a well-defined spirocyclic NHC Ir(iii) complex (SNIr), generating a variety of heteroarylsilanes. A significant advantage of this catalytic system is that multiple types of intermolecular C–H silylation can be achieved using one catalytic system at α, β, γ, or δ positions of heteroatoms with excellent regioselectivities. Mechanistic experiments and DFT calculations indicate that the polycyclic ligand of SNIr can form an isolable cyclometalated intermediate, which leaves a phenyl dentate free and provides a hemi-open space for activating substrates. In general, favorable silylations occur at γ or δ positions of chelating heteroatoms, forming 5- or 6-membered C–Ir–N cyclic intermediates. If such an activation mode is prohibited sterically, silylations would take place at the α or β positions. The mechanistic studies would be helpful for further explaining the reactivity of the SNIr system.

Co(ii)-based metalloradical catalysis has, for the first time, been successfully applied for asymmetric intramolecular C–H alkylation of acceptor/acceptor-substituted diazo reagents. Through the design and synthesis of a new D 2-symmetric chiral amidoporphyrin as the supporting ligand, the Co(ii)-based metalloradical system, which operates at room temperature, is capable of 1,5-C–H alkylation of α-methoxycarbonyl-α-diazosulfones with a broad range of electronic properties, providing the 5-membered sulfolane derivatives in high yields with excellent diastereoselectivities and enantioselectivities. In addition to complete chemoselectivity toward allylic and allenic C–H bonds, the Co(ii)-based metalloradical catalysis for asymmetric C–H alkylation features a remarkable degree of functional group tolerance.  相似文献

Spruce (Picea abies) wood hemicelluloses have been obtained by the noncatalytic and catalytic oxidative delignification in the acetic acid-water-hydrogen peroxide medium in a processing time of 3–4 h and temperatures of 90–100 °C. In the catalytic process, the H2SO4, MnSO4, TiO2, and (NH4)6Mo7O24 catalysts have been used. A polysaccharide yield of up to 11.7 wt% has been found. The hemicellulose composition and structure have been studied by a complex of physicochemical methods, including gas and gel permeation chromatography, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The galactose:mannose:glucose:arabinose:xylose monomeric units in a ratio of 5:3:2:1:1 have been identified in the hemicelluloses by gas chromatography. Using gel permeation chromatography, the weight average molar mass Mw of hemicelluloses has been found to attain 47,654 g/mol in noncatalytic delignification and up to 42,793 g/mol in catalytic delignification. Based on the same technique, a method for determining the α and k parameters of the Mark–Kuhn–Houwink equation for hemicelluloses has been developed; it has been established that these parameters change between 0.33–1.01 and 1.57–472.17, respectively, depending on the catalyst concentration and process temperature and time. Moreover, the FTIR spectra of the hemicellulose samples contain all the bands characteristic of heteropolysaccharides, specifically, 1069 cm−1 (C–O–C and C–O–H), 1738 cm−1 (ester C=O), 1375 cm−1 (–C–CH3), 1243 cm−1 (–C–O–), etc. It has been determined by the thermogravimetric analysis that the hemicelluloses isolated from spruce wood are resistant to heating to temperatures of up to ~100 °C and, upon further heating, start destructing at an increasing rate. The antioxidant activity of the hemicelluloses has been examined using the compounds simulating the 2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radicals.  相似文献

PdII/CuI co-catalyze an arylation reaction of gem-difluoroalkenes using arylsulfonyl chlorides to deliver α,α-difluorobenzyl products. The reaction proceeds through a β,β-difluoroalkyl–Pd intermediate that typically undergoes unimolecular β-F elimination to deliver monofluorinated alkene products in a net C–F functionalization reaction. However to avoid β-F elimination, we offer the β,β-difluoroalkyl–Pd intermediate an alternate low-energy route involving β-H elimination to ultimately deliver difluorinated products in a net arylation/isomerization sequence. Overall, this reaction enables exploration of new reactivities of unstable fluorinated alkyl–metal species, while also providing new opportunities for transforming readily available fluorinated alkenes into more elaborate substructures.

PdII/CuI co-catalyze a desulfitative arylation of aliphatic gem-difluoroalkenes in a radical arylation/migratory insertion sequence that avoids β-F elimination.  相似文献

Agostic interactions are examples of σ-type interactions, typically resulting from interactions between C–H σ-bonds with empty transition metal d orbitals. Such interactions often reflect the first step in transition metal-catalysed C–H activation processes and thus are of critical importance in understanding and controlling σ bond activation chemistries. Herein, we report on the unusual electronic structure of linear electron-rich d9 Ni(i) complexes with symmetric bis(C–H) agostic interactions. A combination of Ni K edge and L edge XAS with supporting TD-DFT/DFT calculations reveals an unconventional covalent agostic interaction with limited contributions from the valence Ni 3d orbitals. The agostic interaction is driven via the empty Ni 4p orbitals. The surprisingly strong Ni 4p-derived agostic interaction is dominated by σ contributions with minor π contributions. The resulting ligand–metal donation occurs directly along the C–Ni bond axis, reflecting a novel mode of bis-agostic bonding.

Symmetric Ni(i) agostic complexes reveal an unusual mode of bonding that is dominated by direct carbon-to-metal charge transfer.  相似文献

Selective carbon–carbon bond activation is important in chemical industry and fundamental organic synthesis, but remains challenging. In this study, non-polar unstrained Csp2–Csp3 and Csp2–Csp2 bond activation was achieved by B(OMe)3/B2pin2-mediated fragmentation borylation. Various indole derivatives underwent C2-regioselective C–C bond activation to afford two C–B bonds under transition-metal-free conditions. Preliminary mechanistic investigations suggested that C–B bond formation and C–C bond cleavage probably occurred in a concerted process. This new reaction mode will stimulate the development of reactions based on inert C–C bond activation.

Non-polar unstrained Csp2–Csp3 and Csp2–Csp2 bond activation was achieved via B(OMe)3/B2pin2-mediated fragmentation borylation, in which C–C bond activation occurred regioselectively at the C2-position in various substituted indoles.  相似文献

A highly selective arylation of a number of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with aryliodonium salts and Pd/C as the only reagent is reported. The first C–H functionalization of triphenylene is explored, and proceeds at the most sterically hindered position. This non-chelate assisted C–H functionalization extends the reactivity profile of Pd/C and provides controlled access to π-extended PAHs, an important aspect of work towards the preparation of nanographenes. Mechanistic studies suggest in situ formation of catalytically active insoluble nanoparticles, and that the reaction likely proceeds via a Pd(0)/Pd(ii) type reaction manifold.  相似文献

Multiply-bonded main group metal compounds are of interest as a new class of reactive species able to activate and functionalize a wide range of substrates. The aluminium sulfido compound K[Al(NONDipp)(S)] (NONDipp = [O(SiMe2NDipp)2]2−, Dipp = 2,6-iPr2C6H3), completing the series of [Al(NONDipp)(E)] anions containing Al–E{16} multiple bonds (E{16} = O, S, Se, Te), was accessed via desulfurisation of K[Al(NONDipp)(S4)] using triphenylphosphane. The crystal structure showed a tetrameric aggregate joined by multiple K⋯S and K⋯π(arene) interactions that were disrupted by the addition of 2.2.2-cryptand to form the separated ion pair, [K(2.2.2-crypt)][Al(NONDipp)(S)]. Analysis of the anion using density functional theory (DFT) confirmed multiple-bond character in the Al–S group. The reaction of the sulfido and selenido anions K[Al(NONDipp)(E)] (E = S, Se) with CO2 afforded K[Al(NONDipp)(κ2E,O-EC{O}O)] containing the thio- and seleno-carbonate groups respectively, consistent with a [2 + 2]-cycloaddition reaction and C–E bond formation. An analogous cycloaddition reaction took place with benzophenone affording compounds containing the diphenylsulfido- and diphenylselenido-methanolate ligands, [κ2E,O-EC{O}Ph2]2−. In contrast, when K[Al(NONDipp)(E)] (E = S, Se) was reacted with benzaldehyde, two equivalents of substrate were incorporated into the product accompanied by formation of a second C–E bond and complete cleavage of the Al–E{16} bonds. The products contained the hitherto unknown κ2O,O-thio- and κ2O,O-seleno-bis(phenylmethanolate) ligands, which were exclusively isolated as the cis-stereoisomers. The mechanisms of these cycloaddition reactions were investigated using DFT methods.

Direct functionalization of C(sp3)–H bonds in a predictable, selective and recyclable manner has become a central challenge in modern organic chemistry. Through incorporating different triarylamine-containing ligands into one coordination polymer, we present herein a heterogeneous approach to the combination of hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) and photoredox catalysis for regioselective C–H arylation of benzylamines. The different molecular sizes and coordination modes of the ligands, tricarboxytriphenylamine (H3TCA) and tris(4-(pyridinyl)phenyl)amine (NPy3), in one coordination polymer consolidate the triarylamine (Ar3N) moiety into a special structural intermediate, which enhances the chemical and thermal stability of the polymers and diminishes structural relaxation during the catalytic process. The inherent redox potentials of Ar3N moieties prohibit the in situ formed Ar3+ to earn an electron from C(sp3)–H nucleophiles, but allow the abstraction of a hydrogen atom from C(sp3)–H nucleophiles, enabling the formation of the C(sp3)˙ radical and the cross-coupling reaction to proceed at the most electron-rich sites with excellent regioselectivity. The new heterogeneous photoredox HAT approach skips several interactions between transient species during the typical synergistic SET/HAT cycles, demonstrating a promising redox-economical and reagent-economical heterogeneous platform that has not been reported for α-amino C–H arylation to form benzylamine derivatives. Control experiments based on monoligand coordination polymers suggested that the mixed-ligand approach improved the photochemical and photophysical properties, providing important insight into rational design and optimization of recyclable photocatalysts for rapid access to complex bioactive molecules and late-stage functionalized pharmaceuticals.

The efficiency of photosensitization and hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) catalysis is balanced in a recyclable heterogeneous manner by the modification of the N-central conformation in Cd-MIX.  相似文献
