For the unbounded spin systems one cannot get cluster expansion if there exist large enough boundary values. A simple idea to avoid these difficulties is to prove that with probabilityp 1 when v there is a large subvolume of such that on all spin values do not exceed some fixed number. This gives a new method to prove uniqueness results for the unbounded spin systems generalizing some results of Refs. 1 and 2. The formulations of these results are in Section 1; the proofs are in Section 2.  相似文献

Let (x) be the Dirac's delta,q(x)L 1 (R)L 2 (R) be a real valued function, and , R; we will consider the following class of one-dimensional formal Schrödinger operators on . It is known that to the formal operator may be associated a selfadjoint operatorH(,) onL 2(R). Ifq is of finite range, for >0 and || is small enough, we prove thatH(,) has an antibound state; that is the resolvent ofH(,) has a pole on the negative real axis on the second Riemann sheet.Work done while the author was supported by an undergraduate fellowship of the (Italian) National Research Council (CNR).  相似文献

A theory of the azimuthal bunching of electrons injected into the betatron is presented and compared with the experiments described in [1]. The bunching is treated as a small perturbation of the stationary beam. The stationary injected beam is replaced by the corresponding equilibrium beam of the same perveance so that the angular velocity spread of the injected electrons is proportional to the square root of the injection perveance.Self-consistent wave solutions for the perturbation of the stationary solution are then found. Equations giving the amplification of small density or energy disturbances along the beam are derived. These disturbances are assumed to be introduced by density or velocity modulation of the injected beam. The condition for the spontaneous occurrence of bunching is deduced by assuming that the disturbances do not vanish even when there is no modulation of the injected beam. The resulting expressions for the threshold perveance and the rise-time of the disturbance are in reasonably good agreement with the experiments. Such agreement may be considered as further verification of the statement made in [1] that the amplification of the disturbances is caused by the negative mass instability mechanism.

We rigorously derive a linear kinetic equation of Fokker–Planck type for a 2-D Lorentz gas in which the obstacles are randomly distributed. Each obstacle of the Lorentz gas generates a potential V( ), where V is a smooth radially symmetric function with compact support, and >0. The density of obstacles diverges as , where >0. We prove that when 0< <1/8 and =2+1, the probability density of a test particle converges as 0 to a solution of our kinetic equation.  相似文献

A new method is proposed for calculating the energy in certain special points of the Brillouin zone. The wave functions of valence and conduction electrons are given in the form of the linear combination of plane waves and the orthogonality condition of these functions to the wave functions of lower states is replaced by the repulsive potential. The practical application of this very simple method is illustrated on the energy spectrum of silicon in the centre of the Brillouin zone. It is proved that the results are comparable with some other methods, e. g. the orthogonalized plane-wave method.

Shear-free, general-relativistic perfect fluids are investigated in the case where they are either homogeneous or hypersurface-homogeneous (and, in particular, spatially homogeneous). It is assumed that the energy density and the presurep of the fluid are related by a barotropic equation of statep = p(), where +p 0. Under such circumstances, it follows that either the fluid's volume expansion rate or the fluid's vorticity (i.e., rotation) must vanish. In the homogeneous case, this leads to only two possibilities: either = = 0 (the Einstein static solution), or 0, = 0 (the Gödel solution). In the hypersurface-homogeneous case, the situation is more complicated: either = 0, 0 (as exemplified, inter alia, by the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models), or 0, = 0 (which pertains, for example, in general stationary cylindrically symmetric fluids with rigid rotation, or = = 0 (as occurs for static spherically symmetric solutions). Each possibility is further subdivided in an invariant way, and related to the studies of other authors, thereby unifying and extending these earlier works.  相似文献

We develop the quantization of topological solitons (vortices) in three-dimensional quantum field theory, in terms of the Euclidean region functional integral. We analyze in some detail the vortices of the abelian Higgs model. If a Chern-Simons term is added to the action, the vortices turn out to be anyons, i.e. particles with arbitrary real spin and intermediate () statistics. Localization properties of the interpolating field, scattering theory and spin-statistics connection of anyons are discussed. Such analysis might be relevant in connection with the fractional quantum Hall effect and two-dimensional models of HighT csuperconductors.  相似文献

Summary There has been remarkable experimental and theoretical progress in the field ofd interactions in the last few years. Within the uncertainties of the theory the experimental data in thed breakup and thed elastic scattering reaction can be fairly well reproduced. Theoretical problems remain in the absorption channel, but there is a hope that with a few additional measurements of tensor polarization and spin transfer observables in this reaction a partial wave amplitude analysis may localize the theoretical difficulties. In addition it is very important to provide data on the deuteron tensor polarizations and the spin transfer parameters for thed elastic scattering reaction in order to obtain a reliable set of phase shifts, which may reveal resonance structures in this reaction channel.Invited talk to the symposium Mesons and Light Nuclei, Bechyn, Czechoslovakia, May 27–June 1, 1985.  相似文献

The periodic domain structures on unfavourably oriented surface layers of ferromagnetic materials were studied both experimentally and theoretically. The connection between the surface structure and the crystallographic orientation of the crystals was confirmed. All the terms contributing to the total energy of the surface layer were calculated. A general solution of the potential problem is given for arbitrary periodic distribution of the charges.

Let be an action of a compact abelian groupG on aC*-algebraA, and assume that the fixed-point subalgebraA is an AF-algebra. We show that if is a closed *-derivation onA commuting with , and the restriction of toA generates a one-parameter group of *-automorphisms, then itself is a generator. In particular, the result applies if is an infinite product action ofG on a UHF algebra. Furthermore, if in this situation 1 and 2 are two derivations both satisfying the hypotheses on , and 1 and 2 have the same restriction toA , then there exists a one-parameter subgroup of the action with generator 0 such thatD(1)D(2)D(0) is a joint core for the three derivations, and 2=1+0 on this core.  相似文献

Experimental data on 0 meson polarization in p reaction at 5 GeV/c are presented. Change in 0 meson polarization for mesons produced at smallP 2 and atP 2 0·3 or produced in backward direction in CMS is demonstrated. Natural explanation of these phenomena is one pion exchange mechanism and mechanism of quark-antiquark annihilation as observed for 0 meson production in¯pp reactions. The authors are indebted to Ján Piút, Richard Lednický, V. ForA any subset of () (the bounded operators on a Hilbert space) containing the unit, and and restrictions of states on () toA, ent A (|)—the entropy of relative to given the information inA—is defined and given an axiomatic characterisation. It is compared with ent A A (|)—the relative entropy introduced by Umegaki and generalised by various authors—which is defined only forA an algebra. It is proved that ent and ent S agree on pairs of normal states on an injective von Neumann algebra. It is also proved that ent always has all the most important properties known for ent S : monotonicity, concavity,w* upper semicontinuity, etc.  相似文献

A qualitative change in the topology of the joint probability densityP(,x), which occurs for strongly colored noise in multistable systems, has recently been observed first by analog simulation (F. Moss and F. Marchesoni,Phys. Lett. A 131:322 (1988)) and confirmed by matrix continued fraction methods (Th. Leiber and H. Riskin, unpublished), and by analytic theory (P. Hänggi, P. Jung, and F. Marchesoni,J. Stat. Phys., this issue). Systems studied were of the classx=–U(x)/x+(t,), whereU(x) is a multistable potential and (t, ) is a colored, Gaussian noise of intensityD, for which =0, and (t) (s)=(D/)exp(–t–s/). When the noise correlation time is smaller than some critical value 0, which depends onD, the two-dimensional densityP(,x) has the usual topology [P. Jung and H. Risken,Z. Phys. B 61:367 (1985); F. Moss and P. V. E. McClintock,Z. Phys. B 61:381 (1985)]: a pair of local maxima ofP(,x), which correspond to a pair of adjacent local minima ofU(x), are connected by a single saddle point which lies on thex axis. When >0, however, the single saddle disappears and is replaced by a pair of off-axis saddles. A depression, or hole, which is bounded by the saddles and the local maxima thus appears. The most probable trajectory connecting the two potential wells therefore does not pass through the origin for >0, but instead must detour around the local barrier. This observation implies that successful mean-first-passage-time theories of strongly colored noise driven systems must necessarily be two dimensional (Hänggiet al.). We have observed these holes for several potentialsU(x): (1)a soft, bistable potential by analog simulation (Moss and Marchesoni); (2) a periodic potential [Th. Leiber, F. Marchesoni, and H. Risken,Phys. Rev. Lett. 59:1381 (1987)] by matrix continued fractions; (3) the usual hard, bistable potential,U(x)=–ax 2/2+bx 4/4, by analog simulations only; and (4) a random potential for which the forcingf(x)=–U(x)/x is an approximate Gaussian with nonzero correlation length, i.e., colored spatiotemporal noise, by analog simulation. There is a critical curve 0(D) in the versusD plane which divides the two topological behaviors. For a fixed value ofD, this curve is shifted toward larger values of 0 for progressively weaker barriers between the wells. Therefore, strong barriers favor the observation of this topological transformation at smaller values of . Recently, an analytic expression for the critical curve, valid asymptotically in the small-D limit, has been obtained (Hänggiet al.).This paper will appear in a forthcoming issue of theJournal of Statistical Physics.  相似文献

In a Riemannian space-time, the difference between the third-order tensor potentialH of the Riemann tensor (presented in a precedent paper) and the Lanczos generating function of the Weyl tensor is here shown to be characterized by a vectorV , obtained by contractionH . The significant role of such a vector, in the context of general relativity, is then discussed. Particular attention is paid to the scalar potential which characterizes the irrotational part ofV : such a scalar field satisfies a space-time wave equation of the Poisson type. Weak fields are also considered: in the particular case of a static metric, the scalar is found to be proportional to the classic Newtonian potential. This work was done in the sphere of activity of the C.N.R. LetH l be the Hamiltonian in aP()2 theory with sharp space cutoff in the interval (–l/2,l/2). LetE l =inf(H l ), (l)=–E l /l, and let l be the vacuum forH l . discuss properties of (l) and l . In particular, asl, there are finite constants <0 and such that (l), ((l)–)l, and hence (l)=+/l+o(l –1). Moreover exp(–c 1 l) l 1exp(–c 2 l) forc 1,c 2 positive constants, where l 1 is theL 1(Q, d0) norm of 1 with respect to the Fock vacuum measure.
