A generalized model of the two-neuron network with mixed delays is studied. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the linear stability of the trivial solution and Hopf bifurcation of a two-neuron network with continuous and discrete delays. The general formula of the direction, the estimation formula of period and stability of bifurcated periodic solutions are also studied. The dynamics of a physiological control systems described by a first-order nonlinear delay differential equations are investigated. we proved that a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occur at the positive equilibrium as the delay increases. Explicit algorithm for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcations and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are derived, using the theory of normal form and center manifold. Global existence of periodic solutions are established using a global Hopf bifurcation result due to Wu [Symmetric functional differential equations and neural networks with memory, Trans. Amer. In this paper, we study the Hopf bifurcation phenomenon of a one-dimensional Schnakenberg reaction-diffusion model subject to the Neumann boundary condition. Our results reveal that both spatially homogeneous periodic solutions and spatially heterogeneous periodic solution exist. Moreover, we conclude that the spatially homogeneous periodic solutions are locally asymptotically stable and the spatially heterogeneous periodic solutions are unstable. In addition, we give specific examples to illustrate the phenomenon that coincides with our theoretical results.  相似文献

This paper deals with a mathematical model that describe a genetic regulatory system. The model has a delay which affects the dynamics of the system. We investigate the stability switches when the delay varies, and show that Hopf bifurcations may occur within certain range of the model parameters. By combining the normal form method with the center manifold theorem, we are able to determine the direction of the bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcated periodic solutions. Finally, some numerical simulations are carried out to support the analytic results.  相似文献

We consider a delayed predator-prey system. We first consider the existence of local Hopf bifurcations, and then derive explicit formulas which enable us to determine the stability and the direction of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations, using the normal form theory and center manifold argument. Special attention is paid to the global existence of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations. By using a global Hopf bifurcation result due to Wu [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 350 (1998) 4799], we show that the local Hopf bifurcation implies the global Hopf bifurcation after the second critical value of delay. Finally, several numerical simulations supporting the theoretical analysis are also given.  相似文献

In this paper, the Leslie-Gower predator-prey system with two delays is investigated. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we show that Hopf bifurcations can occur as the delay crosses some critical values. In addition, special attention is paid to the global continuation of local Hopf bifurcations. Using a global Hopf bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations, we show the global existence of periodic solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we predict the accurate bifurcating periodic solution for a general class of first-order nonlinear delay differential equation with reflectional symmetry by constructing an approximate technique, named residue harmonic balance. This technique combines the features of the homotopy concept with harmonic balance which leads to easy computation and gives accurate prediction on the periodic solution to the desired accuracy. The zeroth-order solution using just one Fourier term is applied by solving a set of nonlinear algebraic equations containing the delay term. The unbalanced residues due to Fourier truncation are considered iteratively by solving linear equations to improve the accuracy and increase the number of Fourier terms of the solutions successively. It is shown that the solutions are valid for a wide range of variation of the parameters by two examples. The second-order approximations of the periodic solutions are found to be in excellent agreement with those obtained by direct numerical integration. Moreover, the residue harmonic balance method works not only in determining the amplitude but also the frequency of the bifurcating periodic solution. The method can be easily extended to other delay differential equations.  相似文献

In this paper, a class of delayed predator-prey model of prey dispersal in two-patch environments is considered. By analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation, its linear stability is investigated and Hopf bifurcation is demonstrated. Some explicit formulae determining the stability and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations are obtained by using the normal form theory and center manifold theory. In this paper, an age‐structured population model with the form of neutral functional differential equation is studied. We discuss the stability of the positive equilibrium by analyzing the characteristic equation. Local Hopf bifurcation results are also obtained by choosing the mature delay as bifurcation parameter. On the center manifold, the normal form of the Hopf bifurcation is derived, and explicit formulae for determining the criticality of bifurcation are theoretically given. Moreover, the global continuation of Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions is investigated by using the global Hopf bifurcation theory of neutral equations. In this paper, we consider a three‐dimensional viral model with delay. We first investigate the linear stability and the existence of a Hopf bifurcation. It is shown that Hopf bifurcations occur as the delay τ passes through a sequence of critical values. Then, using the normal form theory and center manifold reduction, we derive the explicit formulaes that determine the stability, the direction, and the period of bifurcating periodic solutions. We describe and analyze a simple SIS model with treatment. In particular, we give a completely qualitative analysis by means of the theory of asymptotically autonomous system. It is found that a backward bifurcation occurs if the adequate contact rate or the capacity is small. It is also found that there exists bistable endemic equilibria. In the case of disease-induced death, it is shown that the backward bifurcation also occurs. Moreover, there is no limit cycle under some conditions, and the subcritical Hopf bifurcation occurs under another conditions. We investigate the complex behaviour of a modified Nicholson–Bailey model. The modification is proposed by Hassel and Varley taking into account that interaction between parasitoids is taken in such a way that the searching area per parasitoid is inversely proportional to the m-th power of the population density of parasitoids. Under certain parametric conditions the unique positive equilibrium point of system is locally asymptotically stable. Moreover, it is proved that system undergoes Neimark-Sacker bifurcation for small range of parameters by using standard mathematical techniques of bifurcation theory. In order to control Neimark-Sacker bifurcation, we apply simple feedback control strategy and pole-placement technique which is a modification of OGY method. Moreover, the hybrid control methodology is also implemented for chaos controlling. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate theoretical discussion.  相似文献

This paper discuss the cusp bifurcation of codimension 2 (i.e. Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation) in a Leslie~Gower predator-prey model with prey harvesting, which was not revealed by Zhu and Lan [Phase portraits, Hopf bifurcation and limit cycles of Leslie-Gower predator-prey systems with harvesting rates, Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems Series B. 14(1) (2010), 289-306].
