We study permanence properties of the classes of stable and so-called -stable -algebras, respectively. More precisely, we show that a (X)-algebra A is stable if all its fibres are, provided that the underlying compact metrizable space X has finite covering dimension or that the Cuntz semigroup of A is almost unperforated (a condition which is automatically satisfied for -algebras absorbing the Jiang–Su algebra tensorially). Furthermore, we prove that if is a K 1-injective strongly self-absorbing -algebra, then A absorbs tensorially if and only if all its fibres do, again provided that X is finite-dimensional. This latter statement generalizes results of Blanchard and Kirchberg. We also show that the condition on the dimension of X cannot be dropped. Along the way, we obtain a useful characterization of when a -algebra with weakly unperforated Cuntz semigroup is stable, which allows us to show that stability passes to extensions of -absorbing -algebras. Let be a smooth continuous trace algebra, with a Riemannian manifold spectrum X, equipped with a smooth action by a discrete group G such that G acts on X properly and isometrically. Then is KK-theoretically Poincaré dual to , where is the inverse of in the Brauer group of Morita equivalence classes of continuous trace algebras equipped with a group action. We deduce this from a strengthening of Kasparov’s duality theorem. As applications we obtain a version of the above Poincaré duality with X replaced by a compact G-manifold M and Poincaré dualities for twisted group algebras if the group satisfies some additional properties related to the Dirac dual-Dirac method for the Baum- Connes conjecture. Let (V, g) be a Riemannian manifold and let be the isometric immersion operator which, to a map , associates the induced metric on V, where denotes the Euclidean scalar product in . By Nash–Gromov implicit function theorem is infinitesimally invertible over the space of free maps. In this paper we study non-free isometric immersions . We show that the operator (where denotes the space of C - smooth quadratic forms on ) is infinitesimally invertible over a non-empty open subset of and therefore is an open map in the respective fine topologies.   相似文献

In this paper we establish a general weighted L q -theory of the Stokes operator in the whole space, the half space and a bounded domain for general Muckenhoupt weights . We show weighted L q -estimates for the Stokes resolvent system in bounded domains for general Muckenhoupt weights. These weighted resolvent estimates imply not only that the Stokes operator generates a bounded analytic semigroup but even yield the maximal L p -regularity of in the respective weighted L q -spaces for arbitrary Muckenhoupt weights . This conclusion is archived by combining a recent characterisation of maximal L p -regularity by -bounded families due to Weis [Operator-valued Fourier multiplier theorems and maximal L p -regularity. Preprint (1999)] with the fact that for L q -spaces -boundedness is implied by weighted estimates.  相似文献

Let be a strictly pseudoconvex bounded domain in with C 2 boundary . If a subnormal m-tuple T of Hilbert space operators has the spectral measure of its minimal normal extension N supported on , then T is referred to as a -isometry. Using some non-trivial approximation theorems in the theory of several complex variables, we establish a commutant lifting theorem for those -isometries whose (joint) Taylor spectra are contained in a special superdomain Ω of . Further, we provide a function-theoretic characterization of those subnormal tuples whose Taylor spectra are contained in Ω and that are quasisimilar to a certain (fixed) -isometry T (of which the multiplication tuple on the Hardy space of the unit ball in is a rather special example). A complete classification of the computational complexity of the fixed-point existence problem for Boolean dynamical systems, i.e., finite discrete dynamical systems over the domain {0, 1}, is presented. For function classes and graph classes , an ()-system is a Boolean dynamical system such that all local transition functions lie in and the underlying graph lies in . Let be a class of Boolean functions which is closed under composition and let be a class of graphs which is closed under taking minors. The following dichotomy theorems are shown: (1) If contains the self-dual functions and contains the planar graphs, then the fixed-point existence problem for ()-systems with local transition function given by truth-tables is NP-complete; otherwise, it is decidable in polynomial time. (2) If contains the self-dual functions and contains the graphs having vertex covers of size one, then the fixed-point existence problem for ()-systems with local transition function given by formulas or circuits is NP-complete; otherwise, it is decidable in polynomial time.   相似文献

We consider solutions of affine stochastic functional differential equations on . The drift of these equations is specified by a functional defined on a general function space which is only described axiomatically. The solutions are reformulated as stochastic processes in the space . By representing such a process in the bidual space of we establish that the transition functions of this process form a generalized Gaussian Mehler semigroup on . This way the process is characterized completely on since it is Markovian. Moreover we derive a sufficient and necessary condition on the underlying space such that the transition functions are even an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroup. We exploit this result to associate a Cauchy problem in the function space to the stochastic functional differential equation.   相似文献

This work uses the energetic formulation of rate-independent systems that is based on the stored-energy functionals and the dissipation distance . For sequences and we address the question under which conditions the limits q of solutions satisfy a suitable limit problem with limit functionals and , which are the corresponding Γ-limits. We derive a sufficient condition, called conditional upper semi-continuity of the stable sets, which is essential to guarantee that q solves the limit problem. In particular, this condition holds if certain joint recovery sequences exist. Moreover, we show that time-incremental minimization problems can be used to approximate the solutions. A first example involves the numerical approximation of functionals using finite-element spaces. A second example shows that the stop and the play operator converge if the yield sets converge in the sense of Mosco. The third example deals with a problem developing microstructure in the limit k → ∞, which in the limit can be described by an effective macroscopic model. Let be the group of polynomial automorphisms of the complex affine plane. On one hand, can be endowed with the structure of an infinite dimensional algebraic group (see Shafarevich in Math USSR Izv 18:214–226, 1982) and on the other hand there is a partition of according to the multidegree (see Friedland and Milnor in Ergod Th Dyn Syst 9:67–99, 1989). Let denote the set of automorphisms whose multidegree is equal to d. We prove that is a smooth, locally closed subset of and show some related results. We give some applications to the study of the varieties (resp. ) of automorphisms whose degree is equal to m (resp. is less than or equal to m).  相似文献

Let be the lattice of degrees of non-empty subsets of 2 ω under Medvedev reducibility. Binns and Simpson proved that FD(ω), the free distributive lattice on countably many generators, is lattice-embeddable below any non-zero element in . Cenzer and Hinman proved that is dense, by adapting the Sacks Preservation and Sacks Coding Strategies used in the proof of the density of the c.e. Turing degrees. With a construction that is a modification of the one by Cenzer and Hinman, we improve on the result of Binns and Simpson by showing that for any , we can lattice embed FD(ω) into strictly between and . We also note that, in contrast to the infinite injury in the proof of the Sacks Density Theorem, in our proof all injury is finite, and that this is also true for the proof of Cenzer and Hinman, if a straightforward simplification is made. Recasting the Elliott conjecture   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Let A be a simple, unital, finite, and exact C*-algebra which absorbs the Jiang–Su algebra tensorially. We prove that the Cuntz semigroup of A admits a complete order embedding into an ordered semigroup which is obtained from the Elliott invariant in a functorial manner. We conjecture that this embedding is an isomorphism, and prove the conjecture in several cases. In these same cases— -stable algebras all—we prove that the Elliott conjecture in its strongest form is equivalent to a conjecture which appears much weaker. Outside the class of -stable C*-algebras, this weaker conjecture has no known counterexamples, and it is plausible that none exist. Thus, we reconcile the still intact principle of Elliott’s classification conjecture—that -theoretic invariants will classify separable and nuclear C*-algebras—with the recent appearance of counterexamples to its strongest concrete form. The goals of this paper are twofold. One is to look at the behavior of the collections of permutable subgroups and S-permutable subgroups under the intersection map into a fixed subgroup of a group. The other is to locally analyze the intersection map in connection with -, -, and -groups. In particular, we generalize Theorem 1 of Bauman [Arch. Math. (Basel) 25:337–340, 1974] to - and -groups.   相似文献

In this paper, we consider a set of lines of with the properties that (1) every plane contains 0, 1 or q + 1 elements of , (2) every solid contains no more than q 2 + q + 1 and no less than q + 1 elements of , and (3) every point of is on q + 1 members of , and we show that, whenever (4) q ≠ 2 (respectively, q = 2) and the lines of through some point are contained in a solid (respectively, a plane), then is necessarily the set of lines of a regularly embedded split Cayley generalized hexagon in , with q even. We present examples of such sets not satisfying (4) based on a Singer cycle in , for all q.   相似文献

We study extensions of p-local finite groups where the kernel is a p-group. In particular, we construct examples of saturated fusion systems which do not come from finite groups, but which have normal p-subgroups such that is the fusion system of a finite group. One of the tools used to do this is the concept of a “transporter system”, which is modelled on the transporter category of a finite group, and is more general than a linking system. B. We construct the coarse moduli space of quadratic line complexes with a fixed Segre symbol σ as well as the moduli space of the corresponding singular surfaces. We show that the map associating to a quadratic line complex its singular surface induces a morphism . Finally we deduce that the varieties of cosingular quadratic line complexes are almost always curves.   相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the notion of -decomposability of probability density functions in one dimension. Using -decomposability, we derive an inequality that applies to all symmetric unimodal densities. Our inequality involves only the standard deviation of the densities concerned. The concept of -decomposability can be used as a non-parametric criterion for mode-finding and cluster analysis.  相似文献

For a smooth curve C it is known that a very ample line bundle on C is normally generated if Cliff() < Cliff(C) and there exist extremal line bundles (:non-normally generated very ample line bundle with Cliff() = Cliff(C)) with . However it has been unknown whether there exists an extremal line bundle with . In this paper, we prove that for any positive integers (g, c) with g = 2c + 5 and (mod 2) there exists a smooth curve of genus g and Clifford index c carrying an extremal line bundle with . In fact, a smooth quadric hypersurface section C of a general projective K3 surface always has an extremal line bundle with . More generally, if C has a line bundle computing the Clifford index c of C with , then C has such an extremal line bundle .
