Let(M, g(t)) be a compact Riemannian manifold and the metric g(t) evolve by the Ricci flow. We derive the evolution equation for the eigenvalues of geometric operator-△φ+ c R under the Ricci flow and the normalized Ricci flow, where △φis the Witten-Laplacian operator, φ∈ C∞(M), and R is the scalar curvature with respect to the metric g(t). As an application, we prove that the eigenvalues of the geometric operator are nondecreasing along the Ricci flow coupled to a heat equation for manifold M with some Ricci curvature condition when c 14.  相似文献

In this paper, we first derive a monotonicity formula for the first eigenvalue of on a closed surface with nonnegative scalar curvature under the (unnormalized) Ricci flow. We then derive a general evolution formula for the first eigenvalue under the normalized Ricci flow. As an application, we obtain various monotonicity formulae and estimates for the first eigenvalue on closed surfaces.  相似文献

We strengthen the connection between information theory and quantum-mechanical systems using a recently developed dequantization procedure whereby quantum fluctuations latent in the quantum momentum are suppressed. The dequantization procedure results in a decomposition of the quantum kinetic energy as the sum of a classical term and a purely quantum term. The purely quantum term, which results from the quantum fluctuations, is essentially identical to the Fisher information. The classical term is complementary to the Fisher information and, in this sense, it plays a role analogous to that of the Shannon entropy. We demonstrate the kinetic energy decomposition for both stationary and nonstationary states and employ it to shed light on the nature of kinetic energy functionals.  相似文献

In this note, we discuss the monotonicity of the first eigenvalue of the p-Laplace operator (p ?? 2) along the Ricci flow on closed Riemannian manifolds. We prove that the first eigenvalue of the p-Laplace operator is nondecreasing along the Ricci flow under some different curvature assumptions, and therefore extend some parts of Ma??s results [Ann. Glob. Anal. Geom., 29, 287?C292 (2006)].  相似文献

We consider the Pólya–Szegö type weighted inequality. We prove this inequality for monotone rearrangement and for Steiner’s symmetrization. In particular we fill the gap in the paper of Brock (Calc Var PDEs 8:15–25, 1999) for 1D case.  相似文献

In this paper we generalize the monotonicity formulas of “Colding (Acta Math 209:229–263, 2012)” for manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Monotone quantities play a key role in analysis and geometry; see, e.g., “Almgren (Preprint)”, “Colding and Minicozzi II (PNAS, 2012)”, “Garofalo and Lin (Indiana Univ Math 35:245–267, 1986)” for applications of monotonicity to uniqueness. Among the applications here is that level sets of Green’s function on open manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature are asymptotically umbilic.  相似文献

We show that every finite volume hyperbolic manifold of dimension greater than or equal to 3 is stable under rescaled Ricci flow, i.e. that every small perturbation of the hyperbolic metric flows back to the hyperbolic metric again. Note that we do not need to make any decay assumptions on this perturbation.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the evolving behaviors of the first eigenvalue of the Laplace–Beltrami operator under the normalized backward Ricci flow, construct various quantities which are monotonic under the backward Ricci flow and get upper and lower bounds. We prove that in cases where the backward Ricci flow converges to a sub-Riemannian geometry after a proper rescaling, the eigenvalue evolves toward zero.  相似文献

In this work,we study the convergence of evolving Finslerian metrics first in a general flow and next under Finslerian Ricci flow.More intuitively it is proved that a family of Finslerian metrics g(t)which are solutions to the Finslerian Ricci flow converges in C~∞ to a smooth limit Finslerian metric as t approaches the finite time T.As a consequence of this result one can show that in a compact Finsler manifold the curvature tensor along the Ricci flow blows up in a short time.  相似文献

In this note under a crucial technical assumption, we derive a formula for the derivative of Yamabe constant , where g(t) is a solution of Ricci flow on closed manifold. We also give a simple application. Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000): 53C21 and 53C44  相似文献

We prove three new monotonicity formulas for manifolds with a lower Ricci curvature bound and show that they are connected to rate of convergence to tangent cones. In fact, we show that the derivative of each of these three monotone quantities is bounded from below in terms of the Gromov?CHausdorff distance to the nearest cone. The monotonicity formulas are related to the classical Bishop?CGromov volume comparison theorem and Perelman??s celebrated monotonicity formula for the Ricci flow. We will explain the connection between all of these. Moreover, we show that these new monotonicity formulas are linked to a new sharp gradient estimate for the Green function that we prove. This is parallel to the fact that Perelman??s monotonicity is closely related to the sharp gradient estimate for the heat kernel of Li?CYau. In [CM4] one of the monotonicity formulas is used to show uniqueness of tangent cones with smooth cross-sections of Einstein manifolds. Finally, there are obvious parallelisms between our monotonicity and the positive mass theorem of Schoen?CYau and Witten.  相似文献

Monotonicity formulae play a crucial role for many geometric PDEs, especially for their regularity theories. For minimal submanifolds in a Euclidean ball, the classical monotonicity formula implies that if such a submanifold passes through the centre of the ball, then its area is at least that of the equatorial disk. Recently Brendle and Hung proved a sharp area bound for minimal submanifolds when the prescribed point is not the centre of the ball, which resolved a conjecture of Alexander, Hoffman and Osserman. Their proof involves asymptotic analysis of an ingeniously chosen vector field, and the divergence theorem. In this article we prove a sharp ‘moving-centre’ monotonicity formula for minimal submanifolds, which implies the aforementioned area bound. We also describe similar moving-centre monotonicity formulae for stationary p-harmonic maps, mean curvature flow and the harmonic map heat flow.  相似文献

In this paper we study the concentration behavior of metric measure spaces. We prove the stability of the curvature-dimension condition with respect to the concentration topology due to Gromov. As an application, under the nonnegativity of Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature, we prove that the kth eigenvalue of the weighted Laplacian of a closed Riemannian manifold is dominated by a constant multiple of the first eigenvalue, where the constant depends only on k and is independent of the dimension of the manifold.  相似文献

Let M be a compact n-dimensional Riemannian orbifold of Ricci curvature ≥n−1. We prove that for 1 ≤kn, the k th nonzero eigenvalue of the Laplacian on M is equal to the dimension n if and only if M is isometric to the k-times spherical suspension over the quotient S n k }Γ of the unit (nk)-sphere by a finite group Γ⊂O(nk+1) acting isometrically on S n k ⊂ℝ n k +. In this paper, we consider the behavior of the total absolute and the total curvature under the Ricci flow on complete surfaces with bounded curvature. It is shown that they are monotone non-increasing and constant in time, respectively, if they exist and are finite at the initial time. As a related result, we prove that the asymptotic volume ratio is constant under the Ricci flow with non-negative Ricci curvature, at the end of the paper.   相似文献

We study the injectivity radius bound for 3-d Ricci flow with bounded curvature. As applications, we show the long time existence of the Ricci flow with positive Ricci curvature and with curvature decay condition at infinity. We partially settle a question of Chow-Lu-Ni [Hamilton’s Ricci Flow, p. 302].  相似文献

Using the maximal regularity theory for quasilinear parabolic systems, we prove two stability results of complex hyperbolic space under the curvature-normalized Ricci flow in complex dimensions two and higher. The first result is on a closed manifold. The second result is on a complete noncompact manifold. To prove both results, we fully analyze the structure of the Lichnerowicz Laplacian on complex hyperbolic space. To prove the second result, we also define suitably weighted little Hölder spaces on a complete noncompact manifold and establish their interpolation properties.  相似文献

We consider the normalized Ricci flow ? t g = (ρ ? R)g with initial condition a complete metric g 0 on an open surface M where M is conformal to a punctured compact Riemann surface and g 0 has ends which are asymptotic to hyperbolic cusps. We prove that when χ(M) < 0 and ρ < 0, the flow g(t) converges exponentially to the unique complete metric of constant Gauss curvature ρ/2 in the conformal class.  相似文献
