If the region is not convex, we show the existence of a weak solution. Partial results for the existence of classical solutions for non-convex domains in are also given.

A Multiplicity Result for an Elliptic Anisotropic Differential Inclusion Involving Variable Exponents

In this paper we are concerned with the study of a class of quasilinear elliptic differential inclusions involving the anisotropic $\overrightarrow {p}(\cdot)$ -Laplace operator, on a bounded open subset of ${\mathbb R}^n$ which has a smooth boundary. The abstract framework required to study this kind of differential inclusions lies at the interface of three important branches in analysis: nonsmooth analysis, the variable exponent Lebesgue–Sobolev spaces theory and the anisotropic Sobolev spaces theory. Using the concept of nonsmooth critical point we are able to prove that our problem admits at least two non-trivial weak solutions.

A Numerical Study of a Singular Elliptic Boundary Value Problem

Finite element and finite difference methods for the solutionof singular boundary value problems are compared using a modelproblem arising in fluid dynamics. It is shown that when finitedifference equations are "matched" with the local behaviourof the solution near the singularity they can be competitivewith existing finite element approximations based on piecewisebilinear functions supplemented with suitable singular terms.A significant improvement in the latter is shown to be possibleby careful construction of the singular term.     

A Struwe Type Decomposition Result for a Singular Elliptic Equation on Compact Riemannian Manifolds

On a compact Riemannian manifold,we prove a decomposition theorem for arbitrarily bounded energy sequence of solutions of a singular elliptic equation.

Existence and Multiplicity for Elliptic Problems with Quadratic Growth in the Gradient

We show that a class of divergence-form elliptic problems with quadratic growth in the gradient and non-coercive zero order terms are solvable, under essentially optimal hypotheses on the coefficients in the equation. In addition, we prove that the solutions are in general not unique. The case where the zero order term has the opposite sign was already intensively studied and the uniqueness is the rule.
