We propose a new method for constructing partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms on closed manifolds. As a demonstration of the method we show that there are simply connected closed manifolds that support partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms. Laying aside many surgery constructions of 3-dimensional Anosov flows, these are the first new examples of manifolds which admit partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms in the past forty years.  相似文献

We show that from dimension six onwards (but not in lower dimensions), there are in each dimension flat manifolds with first Betti number equal to zero admitting Anosov diffeomorphisms. On the other hand, it is known that no flat manifolds with first Betti number equal to one support Anosov diffeomorphisms. For each integer k > 1 however, we prove that there is an n-dimensional flat manifold M with first Betti number equal to k carrying an Anosov diffeomorphism if and only if M is a k-torus or n is greater than or equal to k + 2. In this paper, we develop algebraic approaches to the construction of Anosov diffeomorphisms on compact manifolds. Two mutually dual constructions are described, which provide numerous new examples of Anosov diffeomorphisms on nilmanifolds. The basis of the constructions is the operation of tensor multiplication of Lie algebras by appropriate finite-dimensional associative-commutative algebras. Several examples illustrating the general method are given.  相似文献

This paper studies the M0-shadowing property for the dynamics of diffeomorphisms defined on closed manifolds. The C1 interior of the set of all two dimensional diffeomorphisms with the M0-shadowing property is described by the set of all Anosov diffeomorphisms. The C1-stably M0-shadowing property on a non-trivial transitive set implies the diffeomorphism has a dominated splitting.  相似文献

A few years ago, the first example of a closed manifold admitting an Anosov diffeomorphism but no expanding map was given. Unfortunately, this example is not explicit and is high-dimensional, although its exact dimension is unknown due to the type of construction. In this paper, we present a family of concrete 12-dimensional nilmanifolds with an Anosov diffeomorphism but no expanding map, where a nilmanifold is defined as the quotient of a 1-connected nilpotent Lie group by a cocompact lattice. We show that this family has the smallest possible dimension in the class of infra-nilmanifolds, which is conjectured to be the only type of manifolds admitting Anosov diffeomorphisms up to homeomorphism. The proof shows how to construct positive gradings from the eigenvalues of the Anosov diffeomorphism under some additional assumptions related to the rank, using the action of the Galois group on these algebraic units.  相似文献

This article is devoted to the algebraic approaches to Anosov diffeomorphisms. All examples of Anosov diffeomorphisms known so far are connected directly or indirectly with compact nilmanifolds. We consider some new necessary conditions for existence of these diffeomorphisms on nilmanifolds. We demonstrated the absence of Anosov diffeomorphisms on some classes of nilmanifolds. We also prove some results on Lie groups and lattices in them.  相似文献

Anosov diffeomorphisms on closed Riemannian manifolds are a type of dynamical systems exhibiting uniform hyperbolic behavior. Therefore, their properties are intensively studied, including which spaces allow such a diffeomorphism. It is conjectured that any closed manifold admitting an Anosov diffeomorphism is homeomorphic to an infra-nilmanifold, that is, a compact quotient of a 1-connected nilpotent Lie group by a discrete group of isometries. This conjecture motivates the problem of describing which infra-nilmanifolds admit an Anosov diffeomorphism. So far, most research was focused on the restricted class of nilmanifolds, which are quotients of 1-connected nilpotent Lie groups by uniform lattices. For example, Dani and Mainkar studied this question for the nilmanifolds associated to graphs, which form the natural generalization of nilmanifolds modeled on free nilpotent Lie groups. This paper further generalizes their work to the full class of infra-nilmanifolds associated to graphs, leading to a necessary and sufficient condition depending only on the induced action of the holonomy group on the defining graph. As an application, we construct families of infra-nilmanifolds with cyclic holonomy groups admitting an Anosov diffeomorphism, starting from faithful actions of the holonomy group on simple graphs.  相似文献

This paper considers the following question: Given an Anosov endomorphism f on T~m, whether f is topologically conjugate to some hyperbolic total endomorphism? It is well known that the answer for Anosov diffeomorphisms and expanding endomorphisms is affirmative. Hwever for the remainder Anosov endomorphisms, a quite different answer is obtained in this paper, i. e., for generic Anosov endomorphisms, they are not topologically conjugate to any hyperbolic toral endomorphism.  相似文献

We show that partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms of \(d\) -dimensional tori isotopic to an Anosov diffeomorphism, where the isotopy is contained in the set of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms, are dynamically coherent. Moreover, we show a global stability result, i.e. every partially hyperbolic diffeomorphism as above is leaf-conjugate to the linear one. As a consequence, we obtain intrinsic ergodicity and measure equivalence for partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with one-dimensional center direction that are isotopic to Anosov diffeomorphisms through such a path.  相似文献

The known examples of transitive partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms on 3-manifolds belong to 3 basic classes: perturbations of skew products over an Anosov map of T2, perturbations of the time one map of a transitive Anosov flow, and certain derived from Anosov diffeomorphisms of the torus T3. In this work we characterize the two first types by a local hypothesis associated to one closed periodic curve.  相似文献

We study the ergodic and rigidity properties of weakly hyperbolic actions. First, we establish ergodicity for C2 volume preserving weakly hyperbolic group actions on closed manifolds. For the integral action generated by a single Anosov diffeomorphism this theorem is classical and originally due to Anosov. Motivated by the Franks/Manning classification of Anosov diffeomorphisms on tori, we restrict our attention to weakly hyperbolic actions on the torus. When the acting group is a lattice subgroup of a semisimple Lie group with no compact factors and all (almost) simple factors of real rank at least two, we show that weak hyperbolicity in the original action implies weak hyperbolicity for the induced action on the fundamental group. As a corollary, we obtain that any such action on the torus is continuously semiconjugate to the affine action coming from the fundamental group via a map unique in the homotopy class of the identity. Under the additional assumption that some partially hyperbolic group element has quasi-isometrically embedded lifts of unstable leaves to the universal cover, we obtain a conjugacy, resulting in a continuous classification for these actions. There exists a diffeomorphism on the n-dimensional torus Tn which is conjugate with a hyperbolic linear automorphism, but is not an Anosov diffeomorphism. A diffeomorphismf: Tn→Tn has such a property iff is separating and belongs to the C0 closure of the Anosov diffeomorphisms.  相似文献

We classify the holomorphic diffeomorphisms of complex projective varieties with an Anosov dynamics and holomorphic stable and unstable foliations: The variety is finitely covered by a compact complex torus and the diffeomorphism corresponds to a linear transformation of this torus.

With each rational function on the Riemann sphere, Lyubich–Minsky construction (1997) associates an abstract topological space called the quotient hyperbolic lamination. The latter space carries the so-called vertical geodesic flow with Anosov property. Its unstable foliation is what we call the quotient horospheric lamination. We consider the case of hyperbolic rational function, and more generally, functions postcritically finite on the Julia set without parabolics, that do not belong to the following list of exceptions: powers, Chebyshev polynomials and Latt‘es examples. In this case the quotient horospheric lamination is known to be minimal, while restricted to the union of nonisolated hyperbolic leaves (Glutsyuk, 2007). In the present paper we prove its unique ergodicity. To this end, we introduce the so-called transversely contracting flows and homeomorphisms (on abstract compact metrizable topological spaces), which include the vertical geodesic flows under consideration and the usual Anosov flows and diffeomorphisms. We prove a version of our unique ergodicity result for the transversely contracting flows and homeomorphisms. Particular cases for Anosov flows and diffeomorphisms are given by classical results by Bowen, Marcus, Furstenberg, Margulis, et al. We give a new and purely geometric proof, which seems to be simpler than the classical ones (which use either Markov partitions, K-property, or harmonic analysis).  相似文献

We construct examples of two-step and three-step nilpotent Lie groups whose automorphism groups are ``small' in the sense of either not having a dense orbit for the action on the Lie group, or being nilpotent (the latter being stronger). From the results we also get new examples of compact manifolds covered by two-step simply connected nilpotent Lie groups which do not admit Anosov automorphisms.

We study compact group extensions of hyperbolic diffeomorphisms. We relate mixing properties of such extensions with accessibility properties of their stable and unstable laminations. We show that generically the correlations decay faster than any power of time. In particular, this is always the case for ergodic semisimple extensions as well as for stably ergodic extensions of Anosov diffeomorphisms of infranilmanifolds.  相似文献

The only known examples of Anosov diffeomorphisms are hyperbolic automorphisms of infranilmanifolds, and the existence of such automorphisms is a really strong condition on the rational nilpotent Lie algebra determined by the lattice, so called an Anosov Lie algebra. We prove that n⊕?⊕n (s times, s≥2) has an Anosov rational form for any graded real nilpotent Lie algebra n having a rational form. We also obtain some obstructions for the types of nilpotent Lie algebras allowed, and use the fact that the eigenvalues of the automorphism are algebraic integers (even units) to show that the types (5,3) and (3,3,2) are not possible for Anosov Lie algebras.  相似文献

This paper is primarily concerned with linear time-varying ordinary differential equations. Sufficient conditions are given for the existence of an exponential dichotomy or equivalently an invariant splitting. The conditions are more general than those given in Part I of this paper and include the case in which the coefficients lie in a base space which is chain-recurrent under the translation flow and also the case in which compatible splittings are known to exist over invariant subsets of the base space. When the compatibility fails, the flow in the base space is shown to exhibit a gradient-like structure with attractors and repellers. Sufficient conditions are given guaranteeing the existence of bounded solutions of a linear system. The problem is treated in the unified setting of a skew-product dynamical system and the results apply to discrete systems including those generated by diffeomorphisms of manifolds. Sufficient conditions are given for a diffeomorphism to be an Anosov diffeomorphism.  相似文献
