This study considers the acoustic streaming in water produced by a lithotripsy pulse. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) method was employed to visualize the acoustic streaming produced by an electromagnetic shock wave generator using video images of the light scattering particles suspended in water. Visualized streaming features including several local peaks and vortexes around or at the beam focus were easily seen with naked eyes over all settings of the lithotripter from 10 to 18 kV. Magnitudes of the peak streaming velocity measured vary in the range of 10-40 mm s(-1) with charging voltage settings. Since the streaming velocity was estimated on the basis of a series of the video images of particles averaged over 1/60s, the time resolution limited by the video frame rate which is 1-2 orders of magnitude larger than driving acoustic activities, measured velocities are expected to be underestimated and were shown a similar order of magnitude lower than those calculated from a simple theoretical consideration. Despite such an underestimation, it was shown that, as predicted by theory, the magnitude of the streaming velocity measured by the present PIV method was proportional to acoustic intensity. In particular it has almost a linear correlation with peak negative pressures (r=0.98683, p=0.0018).  相似文献

It is well known that ultrasonic cavitation causes a steady flow termed acoustic streaming. In the present study, the velocity of acoustic streaming in water and molten aluminum is measured. The method is based on the measurement of oscillation frequency of Karman vortices around a cylinder immersed into liquid. For the case of acoustic streaming in molten metal, such measurements were performed for the first time. Four types of experiments were conducted in the present study: (1) Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurement in a water bath to measure the acoustic streaming velocity visually, (2) frequency measurement of Karman vortices generated around a cylinder in water, and (3) in aluminum melt, and (4) cavitation intensity measurements in molten aluminum. Based on the measurement results (1) and (2), the Strouhal number for acoustic streaming was determined. Then, using the same Strouhal number and measuring oscillation frequency of Karman vortices in aluminum melt, the acoustic streaming velocity was measured. The velocity of acoustic streaming was found to be independent of amplitude of sonotrode tip oscillation both in water and aluminum melt. This can be explained by the effect of acoustic shielding and liquid density.  相似文献

The interaction of two parallel plane jets of different velocities is studied by flow visualization and PIV measurement to examine the influence of velocity ratio on the development ofjets in the initial region. It is found that the parallel plane jets develop toward the high velocity side and the jet width is reduced with a decrease in the jet velocity ratio. Corresponding to the variation of mean velocity field to the velocity ratio, the magnitudes of turbulence intensities, Reynolds stress and static pressure are weakened in the merging region of the jets and their peak locations of the properties are shifted to the high velocity side. These results indicate that the interaction of two parallel jets is weakened with a decrease in the velocity ratio of the jets.  相似文献

Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV) and Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) measurements on a self-induced sloshing flow in a rectangular tank had been conducted in the present study. The PIV measurement result was compared with LDV measurement result quantitatively in order to evaluate the accuracy level of the PIV measurement. The comparison results show that the PIV and LDV measurement results agree with each other well in general for both mean velocity and fluctuations of the velocity components. The average disagreement level of the mean velocity between PIV and LDV measurement results was found to be within 3% of the target velocity for the PIV system parameter selection. Bigger disagreements between the PIV and LDV measurement results were found to concentrate at high shear regions. The spatial resolution and temporal resolution differences of the PIV and LDV measurements and the limited frames of the PIV instantaneous results were suggested to be the main reasons for the disagreement.  相似文献

本文应用PIV流场测量方法,对直通道内置肋板的绕流,进行了研究。流动Re数达到100000,肋板与通道高度之比H/L分别为0.1、0.2。实验结果表明: (1)PIV处理得到的肋板后的分离绕流,在不同的时刻,流动形态是不同的,是不规则的、非稳定的流动;(2)一定数量的测量结果经平均后得到结果有一定的稳定性,反映流动有一定的周期性; (3)PUV测量的平均结果与2D定常数值模拟结果有一定的差距。  相似文献

The effects of the micro-ramps on supersonic turbulent flow over a forward-facing step(FFS) was experimentally investigated in a supersonic low-noise wind tunnel at Mach number 3 using nano-tracer planar laser scattering(NPLS)and particle image velocimetry(PIV) techniques. High spatiotemporal resolution images and velocity fields of supersonic flow over the testing model were captured. The fine structures and their spatial evolutionary characteristics without and with the micro-ramps were revealed and compared. The large-scale structures generated by the micro-ramps can survive the downstream FFS flowfield. The micro-ramps control on the flow separation and the separation shock unsteadiness was investigated by PIV results. With the micro-ramps, the reduction in the range of the reversal flow zone in streamwise direction is 50% and the turbulence intensity is also reduced. Moreover, the reduction in the average separated region and in separation shock unsteadiness are 47% and 26%, respectively. The results indicate that the micro-ramps are effective in reducing the flow separation and the separation shock unsteadiness.  相似文献

To analyze the complex three-dimensional flow structure of an axial flow fan and determine the validity of its application, PIV is used to provide detailed space and time resolved experimental data for understanding and control of flow field. The high resolution stereoscopic PIV system was successfully employed in this study for the investigation of flow structure around the axial flow fan. Using the once-per-revolution signal from the rotor, image fields were captured at a fixed position of the blades and hence provides the ability to do phase-averaging. The three-dimensional instantaneous velocity fields, phase-averaged velocity fields, instantaneous and mean vorticity distributions of the stereoscopic PIV measurement results were represented at typical planes of the flow field. Phaseaveraged velocity fields were calculated based on 200 frames of the instantaneous stereoscopic PIV measurement results. From the velocity distribution, the vorticity and turbulent intensity distribution, which are known to be major factors of fan noise, were calculated and its diffusion was discussed as they travel downstream. From the reconstructed three-dimensional velocity iso-surface at 8 cross planes of the outlet flow fields, the three-dimensional features can be seen clearly.  相似文献

The flow structure of strongly turbulent Taylor-Couette flow with Reynolds numbers up to Re(i)=2×10(6) of the inner cylinder is experimentally examined with high-speed particle image velocimetry (PIV). The wind Reynolds numbers Re(w) of the turbulent Taylor-vortex flow is found to scale as Re(w)∝Ta(1/2), exactly as predicted by Grossmann and Lohse [Phys. Fluids 23, 045108 (2011).] for the ultimate turbulence regime, in which the boundary layers are turbulent. The dimensionless angular velocity flux has an effective scaling of Nu(ω)∝Ta(0.38), also in correspondence with turbulence in the ultimate regime. The scaling of Nu(ω) is confirmed by local angular velocity flux measurements extracted from high-speed PIV measurements: though the flux shows huge fluctuations, its spatial and temporal average nicely agrees with the result from the global torque measurements.  相似文献

采用二维粒子图像测速仪(2DPIV)对槽道内涡波流场进行实验研究,用POD技术对2DPIV瞬态速度矢量场进行主导模态重构,得到槽道内的平均流速和湍流动能分布;采用大涡PIV方法对湍流动能耗散率分布进行计算.结果表明:重构流场表征了原始流场的主导结构,剔除了噪声等干扰信息;大涡PIV方法能有效地估算动能耗散率的分布;湍流动能在壁面附近较小,在接近槽道中心区域湍流动能越来越大,呈现出射流的特征;动能耗散率的峰值出现在壁面附近和槽道中心区域,动能耗散率随着远离壁面程度的增加先降低后逐渐增加直至达到峰值.  相似文献

Velocity and density distributions of a high-speed and initial CO2 jet flow have been analyzed concurrently by a developed three-dimensional digital speckle tomography and a particle image velocimetry (PIV). Two high-speed cameras have been used for the tomography and one for the PIV since a shape of a nozzle for the jet flow is bilaterally symmetric and the starting flow is fast and unsteady. The speckle movements between no flow and CO2 jet flow have been obtained by a cross-correlation tracking method so that those distances can be transferred to deflection angles of laser rays for density gradients. The three-dimensional density fields for the high-speed CO2 jet flow have been reconstructed from the deflection angles by the real-time tomography method, and the two-dimensional velocity fields have been calculated by the PIV method concurrently and instantaneously.  相似文献

A Dynamic Programming based Optical Flow technique has been applied to the Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) problem. It has been used for the extraction of dense velocity fields in a planar section of a fluid flow illuminated by a thin laser light sheet. Two (in-plane) components of the velocity vectors can be recovered using a single camera and all three components can be recovered using two or three cameras. Quantitative performance tests have been carried out on calibrated synthetic image sequences from the PIV Standard Project of the Visualization Society of Japan (VSJ). Results are presented for the 2D flow based sequences (STD01 to STD08 Standard Images) and the 3D flow based sequences (STD301, STD302, STD331 and STD337 Standard Images). The RMS error is within the 2–3% range and within the 4–8% range for recovery of the two-component and the three-component velocity vectors respectively.  相似文献

Lattice Boltzmann simulations are used to model the enhancement of diffusion which results from Eckart (attenuation driven) acoustic streaming in model porous material. Comparisons are made to Fickian diffusion where no flow is present and the diffusion when a fluid jet is used, which represents a more conventional method of enhancement. We show that streaming can produce a higher diffusion rate for the same average flow velocity and propose that this is the result of the continuation within the material of the driving force that produces the acoustic streaming.  相似文献

Velocity gradient is typically estimated in Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) by differentiating a measured velocity field, which amplifies noise in the measured velocities. If gradients near a boundary are sought, such noise is usually greater than in bulk fluid, because of small tracer displacement, uncertainty in the effective positions of velocity vectors, intense deformation of tracer patterns, and laser reflection. We consider here a modified form of the Particle Image Distortion (PID) method todirectly calculate velocity gradients at a fixed wall, and refer it as “PIV/IG” (“Interface Gradiometry”). Results from synthetic 2D PIV images suggest our method achieves higher SNR and accuracy than velocity differentiation. Also, we have developed a procedure to reconstruct three-dimensional velocity gradient at a fixed wall the two non-zero components from PIV/IG data obtained in stereo views; these equations simplify considerably thanks to the no-slip condition. Experimental data from the bottom wall of turbulent open channel flow appear to suffer from a form of pixel locking. As with standard PIV, this underlines the importance of adequate tracer diameter in the images, sufficient seeding density, and of dynamic range of the camera sensor.  相似文献

本文对Aachen一级半轴流式透平进行了准定常及非定常流动的数值模拟,讨论了引发动静干涉效应的主要因素,分析了非定常效应对叶栅通道中脉动速度、气流角、型面压力分布以及损失结构的影响。结果表明,对于Aachen透平而言,上游叶片排的尾迹区及二次涡是引发下游叶栅通道流场强非定常特性的最主要因素,引起了脉动速度、型面压力、攻角以及损失的较大变化,从而对透平级性能产生较大的影响。  相似文献

We use non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations to study the flow of a micropolar fluid and to test an extended Navier-Stokes theory (ENS) for such fluids. The angular streaming velocity (which is of course missing in the classical Navier-Stokes theory) and the translational streaming velocity are found to be in good agreement with the predictions of ENS theory. Besides, owing to molecular rotation, the translational streaming velocity profile is shown to deviate from the classical parabolic profile. Finally, temperature profiles calculated using three different expressions (a kinetic translational, a kinetic rotational and a recently derived configurational expression) are found to be in excellent agreement, demonstrating that the equipartition principle still holds in this non-equilibrium system. No deviation from the classical quartic temperature profile is observed.  相似文献

Laser velocimetries, such as LDV or laser-2-focus (L2F) velocimetry, have been widely used for a flow measurement in a high-speed rotating impeller. A particle image velocimetry (PIV) is one of the popular velocity measurement techniques for the ability to measure a velocity field. And a PIV offers an extensive velocity field in an extremely shorter measurement time than the laser velocimetries. In the present experiment, a PIV was applied to a flow measurement in a transonic centrifugal impeller. A phase locked measurement technique every 20% blade pitch was performed to obtain a velocity field over one blade pitch of the inducer. The measured velocity field at the inducer of impeller clearly showed a shock wave generated on the suction surface of a blade. The validity of the present technique was also discussed.  相似文献

This work was aimed at measurements of the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) secondary flow in a non-thermal plasma reactor using three-dimensional particle image velocimetry (3D PIV) method. The wide-type non-thermal plasma reactor used in this work was an acrylic box with a wire discharge electrode and two plate collecting electrodes. The positive DC voltage was applied to the wire electrode through a 10 MΩ resistor. The collecting electrodes were grounded. The voltage applied to the wire electrode was 28 kV. Air flow seeded with a cigarette smoke was blown along the reactor duct with an average velocity of 0.6 m/s. The 3D PIV velocity fields measurements were carried out in four parallel planes stretched along the reactor duct, perpendicularly to the wire electrode and plate electrodes. The measured flow velocity fields illustrate complex nature of the EHD induced secondary flow in the non-thermal plasma reactor.  相似文献

粒子成像测速仪(PIV)技术是一种测量叶轮机械内部流场的有效手段。本文利用对开式前缘弯掠轴流风扇进行PIV实验,捕捉到了开式轴流风扇的叶尖涡。实验结果表明,叶尖涡产生于叶顶前缘的吸力面,其涡核沿一条与旋转方向相反的斜线延伸,一直到转子下游出口。PIV实验数据和CFD内流计算结果吻合良好。本实验为改善风扇性能和认识其内流机制提供了可靠的实验依据。  相似文献

In this work, results of two- and three-dimensional particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements of the flow velocity fields in a wide spacing spike–plate electrostatic precipitator (ESP) under positive polarity are presented. A DC voltage of positive polarity (up to 28 kV) was applied to the spike electrode. The average gas flow velocity was 0.6 m/s. The PIV measurements were carried out in four planes perpendicular to the plate electrodes. Three parallel planes passed along the ESP while one plane passed across the ESP duct. The results show that electrohydrodynamic (EHD) secondary flow with relatively strong vortices exist in the ESP. The EHD secondary flow pattern depends on applied voltage and measuring plane position in respect to the spike tip. The strongest vortices occur in the plane passing through the tip of the upstream-directed spike. These relatively strong EHD vortices may hinder collection of the particles in the diameter range of 0.1–1 μm in the wide electrode spacing spike–plate ESPs.  相似文献
