Coatings from carboxymethylated dextrans (CMDs) were fabricated, analyzed by XPS, and investigated for their ability to inhibit corneal epithelial tissue outgrowth and bovine corneal epithelial cell attachment and growth. CMDs with differing degrees of carboxymethyl substitution and various molecular weights were synthesized by the solution reaction of dextrans with bromoacetic acid under different reactant ratios. The CMD compounds thus obtained were attached onto aminated surfaces produced in two ways: by the plasma deposition of a coating from n-heptylamine vapour, and by the plasma deposition of an acetaldehyde coating onto whose surface aldehyde groups the polyamine compounds polylysine, polyethyleneimine and polyallylamine were immobilized to provide platforms for CMD immobilization. XPS spectra showed that the latter route produced thicker coatings than the former approach. CMD molecules attached directly onto the plasma-fabricated amine surface supported some tissue migration; the extent of carboxymethyl substitution and the molecular weight of the CMDs had little influence. For CMDs immobilized via polyamine spacers, on the other hand, tissue outgrowth was completely inhibited, and again there were no discernible effects from the extent of carboxymethyl substitution and the molecular weight of the CMDs. In assays involving cell attachment and growth, analogous observations were found. Thus, the mode of immobilization of these polysaccharide coatings is the dominant factor in their anti-fouling performance, suggesting that optimization of the architecture of polysaccharide coatings may be an important factor for maximizing their cell-repellent abilities.  相似文献

Several Li+- and Na+-acetonitrile models were derived from ab initio calculations at the counterpoise-corrected MP2/TZV++(d,p) level for distorted ion-(MeCN)n clusters with n=1, 4 and 6. Two different many-body ion-acetonitrile models were constructed: an effective three-body potential for use with the six-site effective pair model of Böhm et al., and an effective polarizable many-body model. The polarizable acetonitrile model used in the latter model is a new empirical model which was also derived in the present paper. Mainly for comparative purposes, two ion-acetonitrile pair potentials were also constructed from the ab initio cluster calculations: one pure pair potential and one effective pair potential. Using all these potential models, MD simulations in the NPT ensemble were performed for the pure acetonitrile liquid and for Li+(MeCN) and Na+(MeCN) solutions with 1 ion in 512 solvent molecules and with a simulation time of at least 120 ps per system. Thermodynamic properties, solvation-shell structure and the self-diffusion coefficient of the ions and of the solvent molecules were calculated and compared between the different models and with experimental data, where available. The Li+ ion is found to be four-coordinated when the new many-body potentials are used, in contrast to the six-coordinated structure obtained for the pure pair and effective pair potentials. The coordination number of Na+ is close to six for all the models derived here, although the coordination number becomes slightly smaller with the many-body potentials. For both ions, the solvent molecules in the first shell point their nitrogen ends towards the cation, while in the second shell the opposite orientation is the most common.  相似文献

 The sulfonation of polystyrene (PS) films with 50 and 96% sulfuric acid as a function of time is presented. In contrast to previous literature reports, we showed that the treatment of PS films even with dilute sulfuric acid yields sulfonated surfaces after reaction times of 30 s–1 h. The hydrophilicity of the modified PS increased considerably in comparison to the unreacted PS films. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy yielded evidence for the sulfonation of PS at the surface. Unreacted spin-coated PS films were very smooth, while modified PS showed some clumps dispersed on a flat surface, as analyzed by atomic force microscopy. The surface morphology was identified as a phase-separated system composed of domains of unreacted PS and a matrix of sulfonated PS by fluorescence microscopy using the positively charged dye rhodamine B. The adsorption of the polycation diallyldimethylammonium chloride on the sulfonated PS surface could be detected. The thickness of the adsorbed polycation was 2.2 nm. Heat shrinkable tubes and tapes made of irradiated polyethylene have been produced for several years. The memory effect of such products is widely used in many industrial applications. Hot-melt adhesive is often applied to provide better sealing properties of heat shrinkable products.

Radiation grafting of hot-melt adhesives based on PP and copolymers like EVA was investigated. Several monomers were selected for radiation grafting process. Comparison of structural and mechanical properties with nonirradiated material was carried out.  相似文献

A new modification of glass electrophoresis microchips based on poly (acrylic) acid immobilization has been performed. It is based on the reaction of PAA with an amine functionalized surface, obtained through the bifunctional reagent 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane. Parameters affecting all the three steps involved: surface activation, silanization and polymer immobilization were optimized employing soda-lime glass plates. Characterization by SEM and XPS was carried out. Application of the modified microchips to the separation of a model system: dopamine (D), epinephrine (E) and norepinephrine (NE), that on the other hand are of high clinical relevance was performed employing amperometric detection. Modification is necessary for obtaining partial resolution of all the three analytes in a microchip with an effective separation length of 30 mm. Situation changes from no resolution (Rs) at all (only one peak was achieved for the mixture) to a partial resolution (Rs D–NE and Rs NE–E are 0.25 and 0.24 respectively). Microchips with 60 mm of separation channel were also modified, implying this procedure a resolution enhancement (Rs of 0.49 and 0.28 for D–NE and NE–E respectively), even when methanol is employed as organic modifier (Rs values of 0.70 (D–NE) and 0.66 (NE–E) for a 3% MeOH).  相似文献

The surface of low density polyethylene (LDPE) was modified by grafting a photoinitiator on it, after an Ar plasma treatment. The functionalisation was characterized by contact angle measurements, XPS analyses and AFM. The grafted LDPE was then coated with a UV-curable formulation based on highly fluorinated oligomers. Although the surface tension of the coating is very low, a good adhesion onto the substrate was obtained due to the surface treatment which was applied.  相似文献

This paper studied the surface modification of argon plasma to polyethylene by using ATR-FTIR analysis. The mass loss ratio has maximum value at discharge time of 70-120 s or discharge power of 62 W by using argon plasma treatment for polyethylene. New surface structure was formed after polyethylene was treated by argon plasma. The peroxide bond peak area also has maximum value at discharge time of 70-120 s or discharge power of 62 W. The CC nonsaturated double bond absorb peaks were appeared at 1640 cm−1, 1549 cm−1 and 1528 cm−1 after polyethylene treated by argon plasma. The CC nonsaturated double bond absorb peak area has minimum value at discharge time of 60-70 s and the power of 65 W. The CC nonsaturated double bond absorb peak area has maximum value at discharge power of 62-72 W and the discharge time of 2 min. The absorption peak intensity of 2916 cm−1 methylene nonsymmetry stretch vibration, 2848 cm−1 methylene symmetry stretch vibration, 1463 cm−1 methylene nonsymmetry changing angle vibration, and 719 cm−1 methylene swing in plane vibration was decreased greatly. The four absorption peaks intensity has maximum value at discharge time of 120 s or discharge power of 62 W.  相似文献

The surface of polypropylene(iPP) is modified with glow discharge plasma of Ar,so that the modified surfaces of iPP films are obtained.The studies of scanning electron microscopy(SEM) show the surface etching pattern of iPP films. The chemical structures of iPP films are confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy.The wetting properties of modified surfaces of iPP films are characterized by contact angle, and the free energy of surfaces is calculated.The free radical of modification surfaces of iPP is measured by chemical method.The surfaces of iPP are achieved with Ar plasma treatment followed by grafting copolymerization with styrene(St) in St.The grafting polymer of St onto iPP is characterized by FTIR.The grafting rate is dependent on plasma exposure time and discharge voltage.The studies show that homopolymerization of St is undergone at the same time during the grafting-copolymerization of St onto iPP.  相似文献

Dioscorea opposite has been widely used in traditional herbal medicine in the Far East, ameliorating symptoms ranging from abdominal swelling to pain. Previous studies have focused on understanding the chemical components that lead to the medicinal effects of the extract. In this study, we examined the nanostructures formed by the soluble and insoluble parts of the sticky excretion from the mucilaginous rhizome of Dioscorea opposite and evaluated their cellular response. Using atomic force microscopy, we found that the soluble extract of the excretion had the capacity to form a nanofibrillar scaffold composed of uniform ~10 nm nanofibers with a typical pore size of ~40 nm, while the insoluble extract formed some nanofibers without specific structure. Cellular response to the two types of nanostructures was tested by seeding with HeLa and MC3T3 cells. The observations suggested that the nanofibrillar scaffold formed from the soluble extract provided an excellent platform for HeLa cell attachment and growth and to a lesser degree for MC3T3 cells, while nanofibers from the insoluble extract displayed no cell attachment and growth. Further analysis by direct incubation of the soluble extract with growing cells indicated that components from the extract preferentially bound to HeLa cells, but not to MC3T3 cells, which might help explain the observed preference of HeLa cells on the nanofibrillar scaffold. The nanofibrillar scaffold created from the Dioscorea opposite extract and its ability to sustain the attachment of specific cell types demonstrate the potential for this natural nanomaterial in tissue engineering applications.  相似文献

The polyethylene porous films were treated by dielectric surface barrier discharge (DSBD) plasma at atmospheric pressure in oxygen (O2) or nitrogen (N2), and by radio-frequency discharge (RFD) plasma in air at reduced pressure 46 Pa. The surface energy of films was carried out by direct measurements of contact angles of six testing liquids. The strength of adhesive joints in the system modified polyethylene porous films - polyacrylate was measured by peeling of the joints under the angle of 90°. The significant increase of the surface energy and its polar component of polyethylene porous films modified by all types of plasma were observed. The higher strengths of adhesive joints were found for modification of polyethylene porous films by radio-frequency discharge plasma in comparison with modification of the films by barrier discharge plasma.  相似文献

Cubosomes are novel dispersed nanoparticles with bicontinuous cubic phases of monoolein in their interior. We investigated their disintegration process in plasma by in vitro and in vivo studies. Cubosomes were incubated with whole plasma or plasma components such as HDL, LDL, and albumin. The lypolysis study indicated lipolytic activity of whole plasma towards cubosomes. Gel filtration chromatography revealed that HDL, LDL and albumin interacted with cubosomes. HDL affected cubosomes’ integrity and gave rise to smaller particles which contained the components of both cubosomes and HDL. Upon incubation with LDL, cubosomes fused with LDL. Albumin was shown to take up monoolein out of the particles. Cubosomes were disintegrated by whole plasma as a result of the interaction with plasma components. It was concluded that in vivo observation of a long circulation time of a hydrophobic substance in cubosomes was due to the sustained behavior of cubosome remnant particles.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) was used to calculate the bulk electronic and optical properties of indium tin oxide (ITO). The ITO model was constructed replacing indium atoms with tin atoms in the cubic unit cell of indium oxide. To allow more possibilities for tin atom substitution than afforded by the forty-atom primitive cell of indium oxide all eighty atoms of the unit cell were included in the stoichiometry (In32−xSnxO48) using periodic boundary conditions. A number of properties of ITO were calculated including the optical band gap, charge carrier density and plasma frequency. The dependence of the electronic and optical properties of ITO on a variety of parameters such as the tin content, cubic lattice parameter and the distance between adjacent tin atoms was investigated. The electronic and optical properties agreed well with experimental data and allowed insight into the origin of the electronic and optical properties of ITO.  相似文献

An analytical system for simultaneously monitoring laser-ablation mass spectra and laser-induced breakdown spectra for solid sample has been developed. The performance of the developed system is evaluated by measuring characteristics of laser-induced plasma such as lifetime of ions inside the plasma and laser power dependence of mass resolution for solid samples. Adopted samples are gadolinium plate, gadolinium coated on stainless steel plate, and one of the NIST standard samples, C-1248 (Ni–Cu alloy). The threshold laser energy in obtaining mass spectrum was dependent on the type of sample characteristics in the order of a few MW/cm2, while a few hundred MW/cm2 was necessary in order to observe emission signal. When laser energy was increased enough to produce emission signal, mass resolution of the time-of-flight mass spectrum was severely deteriorated. The lifetime of the continuum ion signal was estimated 200 and 250 ns for Gd plate and C-1248, respectively, by monitoring emission signals, while the lifetime of ions near sample surface was estimated as 400 ns and 430 ns for Gd plate and C-1248, respectively. The deterioration of mass resolution can be understood as originating from the space charge effect in high plasma density in a given space and different velocity distribution of ions inside the plasma, while longer lifetime of ions near sample surface can be understood as originating from speed of ion ejection near the sample surface. The details of the characteristics of laser-induced plasma are discussed and optimum experimental conditions for simultaneous monitoring are suggested.  相似文献

The changes of contact angle (θ) and surface free energy (γS) under low-temperature air plasma in the polymers of different chemical structure and polarity (polyethylene, PE; polypropylene, PP; poly(ethylene terephtalate), PET and poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA) pointed out to the greater effect of short-time plasma action (5-15 s) on these parameters as compared to longer times of exposure.The non-reversion effect of θ changes caused by plasma in PE and PP suggests that the oxidation processes mainly decide about values in nonpolar polymers. The significantly greater θ changes in PE than those in PP indicate that the side groups present in the main chains impede oxidation of such a polymer by plasma.The reversion of θ changes in PET and in PMMA, and return of these values to almost the initial ones after 10 min storage proves that the main reason for θ changes in polar polymers is a certain alteration of the chain conformation.These changes, taking place after longer plasma treatment, suggest that the side ester groups in PMMA retard the above-mentioned conformational transformations. Then, in both kinds of polymers (polar and nonpolar) the structure of macrochain decides about the efficiency of reaction caused by plasma, and at the same time the side groups retard not only the oxidation processes but the conformational changes as well.  相似文献

Two industrial scale, “ROBO” type 60Co gamma irradiation facilities have recently been put into operation in Syria and Peru, and the dosimetry commissioning of both plants have been carried out to determine dose distribution within products and to calculate plant parameters such as efficiency, dose uniformity ratio and throughput. There are some design modifications between the two plants in connection with the location of the carriers with respect to the source plaque and also to each other. The effect of these construction modifications on the plant parameters is discussed in the analysis of the dose distribution data measured in the carriers with depth and height among the four irradiation rows on both sides of the source plaque. The plant parameters were also calculated for different product densities using the technical data of the facilities, and the calculated and measured results were compared to each other.  相似文献

A method of describing small-size reactant diffusion in the presence of any amount of arbitrary located sinks is developed. The propagation function of mobile reagent (MR) in such a system is found. The developed method was used to calculate rate constants of bimolecular reactions of MRs with absorbents (traps) having arbitrary shape. The procedure of calculation of the rate constant has been reduced to integral equation for flux density towards a trap which is MRs' absorber. If small parameters exist, the expansion in powers of these parameters is possible. The bimolecular rates were calculated for traps of different shape. The equation was obtained which permits to determine the asymptotic time dependence of rate constants.  相似文献

The surface design used for improving biocompatibility is one of the most important issues for the fabrication of medical devices.For mimicking the ideal surface structure of cell outer membrane,a large number of polymers bearing phosphorylcholine(PC) groups have been employed to modify the surfaces of biomaterials and medical devices.It has been demonstrated that the biocompatibility of the modified materials whose surface is required to interact with a living organism has been obviously improved by introducing PC groups.In this review,the fabrication strategies of cell outer membrane mimetic surfaces and their resulted biocompatibilities were summarized.  相似文献

The affinity bond between glutathione (GSH) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) is exploited as a means for ‘connectivity’ for engineered proteins at a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) surface. If the protein of interest is recombinantly fused to GST the resulting fusion protein can be linked specifically to GSH self-assembled on a gold surface. Classical self-assembly and the potential assisted self-assembly were compared. The classical method produced unstable layers. Applying a potential during the assembly process significantly improved stability and reproducibility. Suitable GSH layers could be deposited at potentials >0.2 V versus Ag/AgCl, where the reductive desorption showed no desorption peaks between −0.85 and −1.1 V. The GSH-functionalised surface was tested for applicability with the plant cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) Cdc2aAm recombinantly fused to GST. The fusion protein maintained both the affinity for glutathione and the activity for cyclin binding of its parent proteins. SPR signals due to the interaction of Cdc2aAm with a cyclin-binding-site specific antibody were confirmed by ELISA. In this instance, this test system opens up the possibility of studying the cell cycle machinery, but more widely the issues concerned with maintaining the correct conformations of proteins to achieve protein arrays can be developed from this method.  相似文献
