A new frequency chain was demonstrated to measure an optical frequency standard based on a rovibrational molecular transition in the 28-THz spectral region accessible to a CO2 laser. It uses a femtosecond-laser frequency comb generator and two laser diodes at 852 nm and 788 nm as intermediate oscillators, with their frequency difference phase locked to the CO2 laser. The rf repetition rate of the femtosecond laser was compared with a 100-MHz signal from a hydrogen maser, located at BNM-SYRTE. The 100-MHz signal is transmitted by amplitude modulation of a 1.55-m laser diode through a 43-km telecommunication optical fibre. As a first example, the absolute measurement of a saturation line of OsO4 in the vicinity of the P(16) laser line of CO2 is reported with a relative uncertainty of 10-12, limited by the CO2/OsO4 frequency day-to-day reproducibility. The output of a mode-locked femtosecond laser is used for precision single-photon spectroscopy of 133Cs in an atomic beam. By changing the laser's repetition rate, the cesium D1 (6s 2S(1/2)-->6p 2P(1/2)) and D2 (6s 2S(1/2)-->6p 2P(3/2)) transitions are detected and the optical frequencies are measured with accuracy similar to that obtained with a cw laser. Control of the femtosecond laser repetition rate by use of the atomic fluorescence is also implemented, thus realizing a simple cesium optical clock.  相似文献

利用光纤飞秒光频梳和外腔可调谐半导体激光器, 建立了一套双频He-Ne激光器频率测量系统. 选用铷钟作为系统的频率基准, 通过将外腔半导体激光锁定至光频梳使得其频率溯源至铷钟, 再利用外腔可调谐半导体激光与双频He-Ne激光器输出的正交偏振激光拍频, 同时测量两路正交偏振激光频率. 将可调谐半导体激光器锁定至光频梳第1894449个梳齿, 其绝对频率为473612190000.0±2.7 kHz, 相对不确定度为5.7×10-12. 对商品双频He-Ne激光器进行频率测量实验, 双频He-Ne激光器水平方向偏振激光频率均值为473612229934 kHz, 竖直方向偏振激光频率均值为473612232111 kHz, 平均时间为1024 s的相对Allan标准差为5.2×10-11, 频差均值为2.177 MHz, 标准偏差为2 kHz.  相似文献

We demonstrate the possibility of using a femtosecond laser to measure with high accuracy the frequency of a far-infrared (FIR) monochromatic source, such as an optically pumped molecular laser, by generating in a suitable mixer a signal in the radio-frequency region at the frequency difference between n steps of a femtosecond comb and the FIR source. All the couples of modes lying a distance of n steps from one another contribute coherently to the heterodyne signal. The technique has been tested up to 670 GHz.  相似文献

The absolute frequencies of rubidium 5S-7S two-photon transitions at 760 nm are measured to an accuracy of 20 kHz with an optical frequency comb based on a mode-locked femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser. The rubidium 5S-7S two-photon transitions are potential candidates for frequency standards and serve as important optical frequency standards for telecommunication applications. The accuracy of the hyperfine constant of the 7S1/2 state is improved by a factor of 5 in comparison with previous results.  相似文献

A frequency comb is generated with a Cr:forsterite femtosecond laser, spectrally broadened through a highly nonlinear optical fiber to span from 1.0 to 2.2 ,m, and stabilized using the f-to-2f self-referencing technique. The repetition rate and the carrier-envelope offset frequency are stabilized to a hydrogen maser, calibrated by a cesium atomic fountain clock. Simultaneous frequency measurement of a 657-nm cw laser by use of the stabilized frequency combs from this Cr:forsterite system and a Ti:sapphire laser agree at the 10(-13) level. The frequency noise of the comb components is observed at 1064, 1314, and 1550 nm by comparing the measured beat frequencies between cw lasers and the supercontinuum frequency combs.  相似文献

We describe the detection and stabilization of the carrier envelope offset (CEO) frequency of a diode-pumped Yb:KYW (ytterbium-doped potassium yttrium tungstate) femtosecond oscillator that is spectrally centered at 1033 nm. The system consists of a diode-pumped, passively mode-locked femtosecond laser that produces 290 fs pulses at a repetition rate of 160 MHz. These pulses are first amplified, spectrally broadened and temporally compressed to 80 fs, and then launched into microstructured fiber to produce an octave-spanning spectrum. An f-2f nonlinear interferometer is employed with the broadened spectrum to detect and stabilize the CEO frequency through feedback to the pump laser current. These results demonstrate that such a Yb-doped tungstate laser can provide an efficient, compact, high-repetition-rate optical frequency comb with coverage from 650–1450 nm.  相似文献

We report a mode-locked Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser with 5GHz repetition rate. Spectral broadening of the 24 fs pulses in a microstructured fiber yields an octave-spanning spectrum and permits self-referencing and active stabilization of the emitted femtosecond laser frequency comb (FLFC). The individual modes of the 5 GHz FLFC are resolved with a high-resolution spectrometer based on a virtually imaged phased array spectral disperser. Isolation of single comb elements at a microwatt average power level is demonstrated. The combination of the high-power, frequency-stabilized 5 GHz laser and the straightforward resolution of its many modes will benefit applications in direct frequency comb spectroscopy. Additionally, such a stabilized FLFC should serve as a useful tool for direct mode-by-mode Fourier synthesis of optical waveforms.  相似文献

An optical amplifier operating at the 633-nm wavelength region is designed for absolute frequency measurements of iodine-stabilized He-Ne lasers with an optical femtosecond frequency comb generator. The same setup can also be used in other applications that require relatively high (15 mW) laser powers with good spectral characteristics. Radiation of a master laser is amplified by a microlens-coupled diode laser, which is injection locked to the frequency of the master laser. 高精度测距在工业、航空航天、科学研究等方面都具有重要应用, 而不断发展的激光测距技术始终处于前沿研究领域. 本文研究飞秒光频梳绝对测距技术, 拓展光梳在长度测量领域的应用. 在利用脉冲激光进行任意绝对长度测量中常用到飞行时间法, 然而其测量分辨力受限于电子器件的带宽, 仅为毫米量级. 为克服这一缺点, 本文研究了光梳多脉冲序列之间的时间相干性, 结合多脉冲序列干涉法和飞行时间法提出了任意长绝对测距的方法, 搭建了基于改进型Michelson干涉原理的任意绝对测长系统, 通过同时测量多脉冲序列的一阶和二阶互相关信号, 可以分别计算出飞行时间的时间差, 即可得到被测距离. 利用光梳作为光源进行了0.6m的绝对测距实验, 将测量结果与高精度激光位移传感器的测量值进行比较, 实验结果表明本系统具有良好的测量线性度, 并且测距精度可达±0.5μm. 关键词: 飞秒光频梳 任意长绝对测距 飞行时间法 多脉冲序列干涉法  相似文献

实验利用商品光纤飞秒激光器,自行构建了一套完整的光学频率梳系统,并获得了约30 dB信噪比的系统频移(fceo)信号.实现了光频梳重复频率(frep)信号及系统频移(fceo)信号的高稳定度锁定,并通过实验验证了光频梳锁定的跟踪精度.基于此稳定光频梳完成了对1064 nm碘稳频Nd:YAG固体激光器的绝对频率测量.实验结果表明,frep的跟踪精度在100 s取样时间时优于3.7×10-14,测量得到的1064 nm激光器绝对频率为:281630111757362 Hz.这一测量结果与国际计量委员会(CIPM)给出的国际推荐值符合到不确定度之内. 关键词: 光纤光频梳 稳频 锁相技术 光学频率计量  相似文献

The frequency of a primary subterahertz oscillator has been phase locked with the use of the equidistant components of a broad spectrum produced by a femtosecond laser. The optical-to-terahertz down-conversion of the laser pulse train and its mixing with subterahertz radiation has been performed at a Schottky diode. This work provides the opportunity of creating a principally new generation of frequency synthesizers with the desired power and phase noise a few orders of magnitude lower than that of their traditional analogues.  相似文献

We demonstrated a novel scheme for scanning the absolute frequencies of a femtosecond Kerr-lens mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser with the repetition rate unaffected, where the carrier-envelop phase of the pulse was controlled by slightly shifting pump beam and the repetition rate was phase locked to a stable radio-frequency oscillator. Since it was the first time to stabilize the frequency of a mode-locked laser by referring directly to the frequency of cesium two-photon-transition (TPT) stabilized diode laser, we evaluated the frequency instability and the frequency accuracy that showed the characteristic of being a comb laser. The feature of the comb laser in this report will be significant for multi-photon spectroscopy where the frequency difference between comb lines plays a key role. PACS  06.30.+v; 42.60.By  相似文献

We have developed and characterized a pair of Doppler-free acetylene-stabilized diode laser frequency standards as optical communications references. The Allan deviation sigma/f of an individual system reaches a minimum of 4 x 10(-14) at a sampling time of 5000 s, and the long-term lock-point repeatability is found to be 0.4 kHz (one standard uncertainty), corresponding to a fractional uncertainty of 2 x 10(-12). Using a combination of a frequency chain and a self-referenced femtosecond comb, we have measured the frequency of line P(16) of the v1 + v3 overtone band of 13C2H2 to be 194,369,569,385.9 (3.0) kHz. The uncertainty of this number is limited solely by the reproducibility of the standards.  相似文献

Using an iodine-stabilized He-Ne laser as a transfer oscillator, we compare absolute measurements of the optical frequency from a traditional frequency synthesis chain based on harmonic generation and from the frequency division technique of an ultrawide bandwidth femtosecond frequency comb. The agreement between these two measurements, both linked to the Cs standard, is 220+/-770 Hz, yielding a measurement accuracy of 1.6x10(-12). We report 473 612 353 604.8+/-1.2 kHz as a preliminary updated value of the absolute frequency of the " f" component for the He-Ne laser international standard at 633 nm.  相似文献

Absolute frequency measurements of a CO2 laser stabilized on saturated absorption resonances of CO2 laser lines are reported. They were performed using a femtosecond-laser frequency comb generator and two laser diodes at 852 and 782 nm as intermediate oscillators, with their frequency difference phase-locked to the CO2 laser. Twenty 12C16O2 laser lines in the P and R bands at 9 μm were measured with a relative uncertainty of a few 10−12 limited by the CO2 frequency reproducibility. A new determination of the CO2 molecular constants was obtained from these data and previous measurements in the 10 μm band. The CO2 frequency grid was also calculated, with an improvement of two orders of magnitude compared to the previous grid of Maki et al. [J. Mol. Spectrosc. 167 (1994) 211].  相似文献
