Skew monoidal categories are monoidal categories with non-invertible “coherence” morphisms. As shown in a previous article, bialgebroids over a ring R can be characterized as the closed skew monoidal structures on the category Mod-R in which the unit object is RR. This offers a new approach to bialgebroids and Hopf algebroids. Little is known about skew monoidal structures on general categories. In the present article, we study the one-object case: skew monoidal monoids (SMMs). We show that they possess a dual pair of bialgebroids describing the symmetries of the (co)module categories of the SMM. These bialgebroids are submonoids of their own base and are rank 1 free over the base on the source side. We give various equivalent definitions of SMM, study the structure of their (co)module categories, and discuss the possible closed and Hopf structures on a SMM.  相似文献

In this article, we study subrings of the Ext-algebra of a graded module over a graded ring R. We show these subrings can be defined by equivalence relations on exact sequences over the ring. In particular, the shriek ring, R !, and the even part of an Ext-algebra of a d-Koszul algebra can be defined by equivalence relations on exact sequences.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring and H R the ring of Hurwitz series over R. In this note, we consider some properties of rings, which are shared by R and HR. In particular, we show that for the rings R and H R, if either ring is (i) a Hermite ring, or (ii) a PF-ring in the sense that every finitely generated projective R-module is free, then so is another. We also show that if R is a PS-ring in the sense that the socle Soc( RR) is projective and char(R) = 0, then H R is also a PS-ring.  相似文献

We define alternant codes over a commutative ring R and a corresponding key equation. We show that when the ring is a domain, e.g. the p-adic integers, the error-locator polynomial is the unique monic minimal polynomial (equivalently, the unique shortest linear recurrence) of the finite sequence of syndromes and that it can be obtained by Algorithm MR of Norton.WhenR is a local ring, we show that the syndrome sequence may have more than one (monic) minimal polynomial, but that all the minimal polynomials coincide modulo the maximal ideal ofR . We characterise the set of minimal polynomials when R is a Hensel ring. We also apply these results to decoding alternant codes over a local ring R: it is enough to find any monic minimal polynomial over R and to find its roots in the residue field. This gives a decoding algorithm for alternant codes over a finite chain ring, which generalizes and improves a method of Interlando et. al. for BCH and Reed-Solomon codes over a Galois ring.  相似文献

The well-known Schur's Lemma states that the endomorphism ring of a simple module is a division ring. But the converse is not true in general. In this paper we study modules whose endomorphism rings are division rings. We first reduce our consideration to the case of faithful modules with this property. Using the existence of such modules, we obtain results on a new notion which generalizes that of primitive rings. When R is a full or triangular matrix ring over a commutative ring, a structure theorem is proved for an R-module M such that End R (M) is a division ring. A number of examples are given to illustrate our results and to motivate further study on this topic.  相似文献

Let R be a ring and let J(R) be the Jacobson radical of R. We discuss the problem of determining when the central idempotents in R/J(R) can be lifted to R. If R is a noetherian (artinian) ring, we give some conditions relative to the ranks of K 0 groups under which the central idempotents in R/J(R) can be lifted. In particular, when R is semilocal, these conditions are necessary and sufficient. Moreover, we consider ranks of K 0 groups of pullbacks of rings and obtain the upper and lower bounds on them under some suitable conditions.  相似文献

For a commutative ring R we investigate the property that the sets of minimal primes of finitely generated ideals of R are always finite. In this article, we study the notion of radical perfectness in Prüfer and classical pullbacks issued from valuation domains. We answer positively a question by Erdogdu of whether a domain R such that every prime ideal of the polynomial ring R[X] is radically perfect is one-dimensional. Particularly, we prove that Prüfer and pseudo-valuation domains R over which every prime ideal of the polynomial ring R[X] is radically perfect are one-dimensional domains. Moreover, the class group of such a Prüfer domain is torsion.  相似文献

Let R be a finite chain ring, e.g. a Galois ring. We give a compact recursive formula for a minimal realization of a finite R-sequence. In particular, we show how to obtain a monic minimal polynomial and a rational approximation of a finite R-sequence. We first study the quasi-Baerness of R[x; σ, δ] over a quasi-Baer ring R when σ is an automorphism of R, obtaining an affirmative result. We next show that if R is a right principally quasi-Baer ring and σ is an automorphism of R with σ(e) = e for any left semicentral idempotent e ∈ R, then R[x; σ, δ] is right principally quasi-Baer. As a corollary, we have that R[x; δ] over a right principally quasi-Baer ring R is right principally quasi-Baer. Finally, we give conditions under which the quasi-Baernesses (right principal quasi-Baernesses) of R and R[x; σ, δ] are equivalent.  相似文献

An E-ring is a ring that is naturally isomorphic to the endomorphism ring of its additive group. E-rings with various properties have been constructed in the literature; we now consider superdecomposable E-rings. More generally, we construct superdecomposable algebras A over integral domains R, which are at the same time E(R)-algebra in the sense that the ring of R-endomorphisms of the underlying R-module structure is canonically isomorphic to A. We also establish the existence of arbitrarily large superdecomposable modules over such algebras.  相似文献

A right R-module E over a ring R is said to be maximally injective in case for any maximal right ideal m of R, every R-homomorphism f : m → E can be extended to an R-homomorphism f^1 : R → E. In this paper, we first construct an example to show that maximal injectivity is a proper generalization of injectivity. Then we prove that any right R-module over a left perfect ring R is maximally injective if and only if it is injective. We also give a partial affirmative answer to Faith's conjecture by further investigating the property of maximally injective rings. Finally, we get an approximation to Faith's conjecture, which asserts that every injective right R-module over any left perfect right self-injective ring R is the injective hull of a projective submodule.  相似文献

Let R be a ring regarded as a multiplicative semigroup which contains no infinite subsemilattices. We investigate subsemigroups of R which are normal orthogroups, and present a construction from which all such maximal normal orthogroups can be obtained. In particular, we construct all maximal normal orthogroups of matrices over a field under matrix multiplication.

Classically, the Auslander–Bridger transpose finds its best applications in the well-known setting of finitely presented modules over a semiperfect ring. We introduce a class of modules over an arbitrary ring R, which we call Auslander–Bridger modules, with the property that the Auslander–Bridger transpose induces a well-behaved bijection between isomorphism classes of Auslander–Bridger right R-modules and isomorphism classes of Auslander–Bridger left R-modules. Thus we generalize what happens for finitely presented modules over a semiperfect ring. Auslander–Bridger modules are characterized by two invariants (epi-isomorphism class and lower-isomorphism class), which are interchanged by the transpose. Via a suitable duality, we find that kernels of morphisms between injective modules of finite Goldie dimension are also characterized by two invariants (mono-isomorphism class and upper-isomorphism class).  相似文献

Let R be a ring. We consider left (or right) principal quasi-Baerness of the left skew formal power series ring R[[x;α]] over R where a is a ring automorphism of R. We give a necessary and sufficient condition under which the ring R[[x; α]] is left (or right) principally quasi-Baer. As an application we show that R[[x]] is left principally quasi-Baer if and only if R is left principally quasi- Baer and the left annihilator of the left ideal generated by any countable family of idempotents in R is generated by an idempotent.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring and let ?(σ) be a Gabriel filter of R such that R is σ-noetherian. We discuss the decomposition of the σ 1-torsion submodule of a σ-torsionfree R-module and characterize the σ l-injectivity of σ-closed R-modules through the σ m-injectivity of modules over noetherian local rings (S, m). As an application, we obtain new criteria to determine injectivity of modules over noetherian rings, of finite Krull dimension, and Krull domains.  相似文献

Rickart Modules     
The concept of right Rickart rings (or right p.p. rings) has been extensively studied in the literature. In this article, we study the notion of Rickart modules in the general module theoretic setting by utilizing the endomorphism ring of a module. We provide several characterizations of Rickart modules and study their properties. It is shown that the class of rings R for which every right R-module is Rickart is precisely that of semisimple artinian rings, while the class of rings R for which every free R-module is Rickart is precisely that of right hereditary rings. Connections between a Rickart module and its endomorphism ring are studied. A characterization of precisely when the endomorphism ring of a Rickart module will be a right Rickart ring is provided. We prove that a Rickart module with no infinite set of nonzero orthogonal idempotents in its endomorphism ring is precisely a Baer module. We show that a finitely generated module over a principal ideal domain (PID) is Rickart exactly if it is either semisimple or torsion-free. Examples which delineate the concepts and results are provided.  相似文献
