A series of Sc:Er:LiNbO3 crystals have been grown by Czochralski method. Their ultraviolet‐visible (UV‐Vis) absorption spectra was measured and discussed to investigate their defect structure. The optical damage resistance of Sc:Er:LiNbO3 crystals was characterized by the transmitted beam pattern distortion method. It increases remarkably when the concentration of Sc2O3 exceeds a threshold concentration. The optical damage resistance of Sc (3.0mol %):Er:LiNbO3 is much higher than that of the Er:LiNbO3. The intrinsic and extrinsic defects were discussed to explain the enhance of the optical damage resistance in the Sc:Er:LiNbO3 crystals. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Lithium niobate single crystals doped with lanthanides (Gd, Er) and nominally pure single crystals of congruent and stoichiometric compositions have been grown under time-dependent thermal conditions. Regular growth domain microstructures and periodic nanostructures have been investigated by optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy with a step from 10 to 100 nm. Comparative investigations of the Raman spectra of lithium niobate single crystals of different compositions have been performed.  相似文献

Methods of Raman spectroscopy, laser conoscopy, optical microscopy, and electron spin resonance have been used to study the photorefractive properties and structural and optical homogeneity of the following lithium niobate (LiNbO3) crystals: nominally pure crystals of congruent composition (LiNbO3con); LiNbO3:Cu[0.015 wt %] crystals grown from a melt of congruent composition and nominally pure crystals of stoichiometric composition grown from a melt with 58.6 mol % Li2O (LiNbO3st). A small deformation of optical indicatrix and regular microdomain structures of fractal type are revealed for the LiNbO3:Cu[0.015 wt %]; the microdomain structures may be due to the nonuniform impurity incorporation into the structure. It is shown that oxygen octahedra in the LiNbO3:Cu[0.015 wt %] crystal are deformed in comparison with the octahedra in LiNbO3st and LiNbO3con crystals and that the main and impurity cations are clusterized along the polar axis. It is established that the LiNbO3:Cu[0.015 wt %] crystal exhibits photorefractive properties not only due to the presence of intrinsic defects with localized electrons, as in the case of LiNbO3st, but also due to the charge exchange in copper cations (Cu2+ → Cu+) under illumination.  相似文献

The pure congruent LiNbO3, Er:LiNbO3 and Zn,Er co‐doped Li‐rich LiNbO3 crystals were grown by Czochralski method. The X‐ray diffraction method and ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectra of the crystals were used to analyze the structure of the crystals. The photo‐damage ability resistance of the crystals was measured. The Zn,Er co‐doped Li‐rich LiNbO3 crystals show a decrease in lattice constant values, a shift in absorption edge of ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectra towards shorter wavelength, and three orders of magnitude increase in photo‐damage resistance compared to congruent LiNbO3 crystal. The intrinsic and extrinsic defects are discussed to explain the enhance of the photo‐damage ability resistance  相似文献

A series of In:Yb:Er:LiNbO3 crystals have been grown. The UV‐Vis absorption spectra and Infrared (IR) transmission spectra were measured and discussed in terms of the spectroscopic characterizations and the defect structure of the In:Yb:Er:LiNbO3 crystals. The optical damage resistance was characterized by the transmitted beam pattern distortion method. The optical damage resistance of In (3.0mol %):Yb:Er:LiNbO3 crystal is one order of magnitude higher than that of other crystal. The dependence of the optical damage resistance on the defect structure was studied. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Near‐stoichiometric Mn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals doped with various concentration of ZrO2 were grown by top seed solution growth (TSSG) method in the air atmosphere. The Zr concentration in the crystal was determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer. The defect structures were analyzed by means of ultraviolet‐visible and infrared transmittance spectra. The appearance of vibration peak at 3466 cm‐1 in infrared spectra manifested that Li/Nb ratio in crystals approached to stoichiometric proportion. The fundamental absorption edge represented continuous red‐shift which was discrepancy with congruent doped LiNbO3 crystals showed that doping ions possessed different location mechanism. The light‐induced scattering of the doped stoichiometric LiNbO3crystals were quantitatively scaled via incident exposure energy. The results demonstrated that Zr(2 mol%):Mn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystal had the weakest light‐induced scattering and the mechanism related to their defect structures was discussed. The specific features of photorefractive light scattering in nominally pure stoichiometric (Li/Nb = 1) sin- gle crystals grown from a melt with 58.6 mol % Li2O (LiNbO3st) and in the stoichiometric single crystals grown from a melt of congruent composition in the presence of K2O flux (LiNbO3stK2O) have been investi- gated. At an excitation power of 30 mW, LiNbO3stK2O single crystals are found to exhibit a stronger photo- refractive effect than LiNbO3st single crystals.  相似文献

Mg: Er: LiNbO3 crystals were grown by the Czochralski technique with various concentrations of MgO = 2 mol%, 4 mol%, 6 mol% and the fixed concentration of Er2O3= 1 mol% in the melt, and the 8 mol%Mg: 1 mol%Er: LiNbO3 crystal was fabricated by the Czochralski technique with special technology process. The crystals were treated by polarization, reduction and oxidation. The segregation coefficients of Mg2+ and Er3+ in Mg: Er: LiNbO3 crystals were measured by X‐ray fluorescence spectrograph, as well as the crystal's defect structure and optical properties were analyzed by the UV‐Vis, IR and fluorescent spectroscopy. The pump wavelength and the surge wavelength were determined. Using m‐line method tested optical damage resistance of those crystals, the results show that photodamage threshold of Mg: Er: LiNbO3 crystals are higher than that of Er: LiNbO3 crystal, and the oxidation treat could enhance the photodamage resistant ability of crystals while the reduction treat could depress the ability. The optical damage resistance of 8 mol%Mg: 1 mol%Er: LiNbO3 crystal was the strongest among the samples, which was two orders magnitude higher than that of 1 mol%Er: LiNbO3 crystal. The dependence of the optical properties on defect structure of Mg: Er: LiNbO3 crystals was discussed. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

A new LiNbO3 bulk crystal has been grown by doping with MgO (cs-MgO:LN; Li2O:Nb2O5:MgO=45.30:50.00:4.70, (Li0.906Mg0.047VLi0.047)NbO3), which successfully has the congruent point coinciding with the stoichiometric point. Its second-harmonic-generation (SHG) properties were evaluated. It was found that cs-MgO:LN has a much more homogeneous composition leading to uniform in-plane distribution of the non-critical phase-matching wavelength than the conventional LiNbO3 crystals such as congruent LiNbO3 (c-LN), stoichiometric LiNbO3 (s-LN), and MgO-doped congruent LiNbO3 (5MgO:LN). This homogeneity arose from the observation that none of the solute components including ionic species were segregated at the interface during growth. The SHG conversion efficiency of cs-MgO:LN is comparable to those of s-LN and 5MgO:LN.  相似文献

Codoped Hf: Er: LiNbO3 crystals have been grown by the Czochralski technique. Defect structures of the crystals were analyzed by IR absorption spectra, and the compositions of the crystals were measured by X‐ray fluorescent spectrograph. A new OH‐associated vibrational peak at 3492 cm–1 was revealed in 6 mol % Hf: 1 mol % Er: LiNbO3 crystal. It was attributed to (HfNb)‐OH‐(ErNb)2– defect centers. The Er3+ concentrations in crystals gradually decreased with the increase of the codoped Hf4+ concentrations in the melts. The emission characteristics of the crystals were investigated by the fluorescence spectrum. It was found that the luminescent intensity in codoped 6 mol % Hf: 1 mol % Er: LiNbO3 crystal was 3.5 times stronger than that in single doped 1 mol % Er: LiNbO3 crystal. The luminescent enhancement effect was successfully explained on the basis of defect structure of the crystals. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Zr: LiNbO3 crystals has been grown. The crystal composition and phase are analyzed by X‐ray diffration. The optical damage resistance ability of Zr: LiNbO3 crystals is studied by the Sénarmont compensation method and the transmitted beam pattern distortion method. The saturated value of the birefringence change of 6 mol% Zr: LiNbO3 crystal is 1.01×10‐4, which is seven times smaller than that of congruent pure LiNbO3 crystal. The results of UV‐Visible and IR absorption spectra of Zr: LiNbO3 crystals powerfully confirm that the optical damage resistance threshold concentration of the Zr4+ ions doped in LiNbO3 crystals is about 6 mol% in the melt. The Er3+doped Mg:LiNbO3single crystal fibers employed in our experiment were grown in air by a micro‐pulling down (μ‐PD) method from host materials of a congruent Li/Nb (0.945) ratio which were melt‐doped with a nominal molar concentration of 1, 3, 5% MgO and 0.6% Er2O3. The X‐ray diffraction analysis results indicated that the co‐doped crystals main tained the same structural characteristics as the undoped LiNbO3, however the lattice parameters with Mg differed; c (Å) value decreased, and a (Å) increased than of pure LiNbO3. The influence of dopants on the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the Er:Mg:LiNbO3 single crystal fibers excited by laser lines of 514 nm was reported. Also, the PL properties according to temperature and the excitation power of Er:Mg:LiNbO3 crystal fibers were analyzed.  相似文献

Erbium doped LiNbO3 (Er:LiNbO3) single crystal fibers were grown free of cracks along c‐axis by the micro‐pulling down (μ‐PD) method. We have investigated the up‐conversion property with the change of doped Er2O3 concentration and the starting melt composition. An enhancement of green upconversion according host matrix is also observed the stoichiometric LiNbO3. And, the dependence of the green emission according to Er3+ concentration is analyzed. The possible application of the Er3+ doped stoichiometric LiNbO3 single crystal fiber for up‐conversion based optical devices is discussed.  相似文献

A near stoichiometric LiNbO3 single crystal has been grown by the Czochralski method from a 58.5% Li melt hold in a large platinum crucible. High resolution X‐ray rocking curves of 30 0 and 0006 reflections indicated that the near stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystal possesses the high structural quality. Compared with the congruent LiNbO3, the near stoichiometric LiNbO3 possesses shorter ultraviolet absorption edge, thus higher Li concentration. The OH infrared absorption band analyses showed that the Li concentration in the near stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystal is higher than that in the congruent LiNbO3 crystal. This result is in good agreement with that of the ultraviolet absorption edge. The electro‐optic (EO) coefficient γ22 of the near stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystal was measured to be 6.75 pm/V higher than that of congruent LiNbO3 crystal. It also proves the near stoichiometric LiNbO3 electro‐optic Q‐switched requires a low driving voltage and it is advantageous for the device performance. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Two kinds of near‐stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystals (SLN11 and SLN19) were grown by a flux pulling method from stoichiometric melt with addition of 11mol%K2O and 19mol%K2O, respectively. Compared with the congruent melting LiNbO3, the ultraviolet absorption edges of two crystals shift towards shorter wavelengths, and the locations of the OH infrared absorption band have obvious change and the bandwidths become greatly narrower. From these experimental results, the Li2O contents are determined indirectly to be about 49.6mol% for SLN11 and 49.9mol% for SLN19, respectively. The Li2O content in SLN19 is very close to the ideal value of 50mol%. The coercive fields of two crystals were measured by the poling method at room temperature. A linear relationship between the Li2O content and the coercive field was fitted. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

A series of In:Nd:LiNbO3 crystals were grown by Czochralski technique and were made into waveguide substrates. The optical damage resistance of the In:Nd:LiNbO3 waveguide substrates was characterized by measurement of the holographic method. The optical damage resistance of In (3.0 mol%):Nd:LiNbO3 was much higher than that of other In:Nd:LiNbO3. The ultraviolet‐visible (UV‐Vis) absorption spectra the In:Nd:LiNbO3 crystals were measured and investigated. The structure defects were discussed in this paper to explain the enhance of the optical damage resistance in the In:Nd:LiNbO3 crystals. (© 2003 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

With K2O as flux, near‐stoichiometric In:LiNbO3 (In:SLN) crystals with different indium contents were grown by the top seed solution growth (TSSG) method. Defect structure characteristics and the replacement principle of extrinsic ions were derived from X‐ray powder diffraction, differential thermal analysis (DTA), ultraviolet‐visible (UV) absorption and infrared (IR) spectrum measurement. Further analysis indicated that the threshold concentration of In2O3 in near‐stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystals were about 1.1 mol%. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

In:Fe:Cu:LiNbO3 crystals were grown in air by the Czochralski technique with various [Li]/[Nb] ratios of 0.946, 1.050, 1.200, and 1.380 in melt. Based on the ICP‐AES (inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry) analyzed results, the chemical formula of the triple‐doped In:Fe:Cu:LiNbO3 crystals were obtained. It can be seen that the near‐stoichiometric ratio value is between 1.050 and 1.200 for our samples. The optical damage resistance of In:Fe:Cu:LiNbO3 crystals was characterized by changes in light‐induced birefringence and it increases with the increasing of [Li]/[Nb] ratios. The dependence of the optical damage resistance on the defect structure of In:Fe:Cu:LiNbO3 crystals is discussed in detail based on the obtained chemical formulas. (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Bi12SiO20 crystals have been grown for the first time by the low-thermal gradient Czochralski technique in the 〈111〉 and 〈110〉 directions. The conditions for reproducible crystal growth with a high-quality polyhedral faceted front are found. The systematic features of shaping Bi12SiO20 and Bi12GeO20 crystals, grown by the low-thermal gradient Czochralski technique, are compared. The defect formation in these crystals is studied and their optical homogeneity is analyzed by interferometry.  相似文献
