We developed a new optical add/drop multiplexer composed only of a grating-folded directional coupler. We found that in this multiplexer, the power drop becomes maximal when the grating-coupling strength is equal to that of directional coupling. At this maximum power, both power transfer between the waveguides and power reflection take place simultaneously at the grating. The power drop approaches 1 when the grating length increases. 相似文献

A reconfigurable wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) add/drop multiplexer (WADM) is constructed using optical switches (OSWS) and fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs). Selected one or two channel(s) can be added/dropped at the same multiplexer by properly controlling the optical switch pair and fibre Bragg grating arrangement. Afour-channel system is experimentally demonstrated for a data rate of 2.5 Gb s–1 and a single-mode fibre (SMF) distance of 100km. A negligible maximum power penalty of only 0.3dB is observed when compared with back-to-back transmission. 相似文献

We propose a new design of a chaotic signal generation and cancellation system using an all fiber optic scheme. A system consists of a standard diode laser, a fiber optic micro ring resonator, and an optical add/drop multiplexer. When light from the diode laser is input into the fiber ring resonator, the chaotic signal can be generated by using the selected fiber ring resonator parameters and the diode laser input power. The required signal is obtained in the transmission link via the add/drop device by a specific user at the drop port. Simulation results obtained have shown the potential of application, especially, when the practical ring radius is 10 μm with the optical input power is in the range of the communication standard diode laser, for instance, when the coupling coefficients of the add/drop device are κ1 = 0.01 and κ2 = 0.01–0.9. When the add port of the add/drop device is employed, such a system can also be utilized for the multi user applications. 相似文献

A channel-switching optical add/drop multiplexer with tunable fiber Bragg grating tuned by equivalent-intensity cantilever beam is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The no-chirped linearly tuning range is about 6.1 nm, which enables it to add or drop 8 channels with channel spacing 100 GHz. It is used in a 4-channel WDM system to test its capability. The adjacent channel isolation is not less than 24 dB. 4-channel lasers modulated by 1.2 Gb/s Non-Return-to-Zero format (NRZ), \{Return-to-Zero\} format (RZ) and 2.5 GHz analogue signals are dropped by the device after transmission over 100 km and the results are given. 相似文献

提出了双通构型的基于“和频”和“差频”级联二阶非线性效应的可变波长路由方案,通过调节两个抽运源的频率,可以从一个WDM(wavelength division multiplexing)链路中取出任意一个信道,然后将其转换为任意一个波长并插入到另一个WDM链路中去.实现了可调谐波长转换和光波长路由的结合.通过小信号分析,给出了相位匹配情况下,输入信号光在波导中功率变化的表达式和输出转换光功率变化的表达式,并给出了提高系统效率的对两个抽运光功率的优化方案.数值计算表明,只要信道间隔大于02nm(25GHz

In this contribution, an add/drop multiplexer that uses a mode-selective coupler and a holographically recorded slanted Bragg
grating in lithium niobate is demonstrated. A Bragg grating with a bandwidth of 0.1 nm allows for an add/drop efficiency of
about 96% with a cross-talk well above 22 dB applicable for wavelengths in the 1.5 μm window. Polarisation-independent operation
can be achieved by application of a bias electric field to compensate for the small mismatch of propagation constants of TE
and TM modes. The proposed scheme of an integrated-optical lithium niobate based device appears to be an interesting option
due to its potential for fast electro-optical switching.

Reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) with the ability of dynamic configuration will be one of the core equipment for the future optical transport networks. This paper proposes an effective scheme for fully ROADM with parallel modularized structure and ability of upgrading. Each module consists of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG), a 1 × 2 optical switch and a Y-model combiner. Optical signal with single wavelength or multiwavelength could be dropped or added at one drop port or add port by configuring the optical switch in each module. The proposed ROADM with four-stage parallel connection is designed and experimentally investigated to prove its performance and advantage in dynamic selection of the wavelengths and upgrading. It is also showed that this ROADM can also reduce the ununiformity of power at output port and drop port to improve the optical signal to noise ration (OSNR) of the whole system. 相似文献

A new all-fiber optical add-drop multiplexer (ADM) using a pair of fiber grating couplers (FGCs) was proposed and first demonstrated. It was theoretically and experimentally shown that both drop and add efficiencies could be maximized in the proposed ADM. It was also clarified that the crosstalk between dropped and added signals could be improved in the proposed ADM compared with that in the single FGC. Drop and add operations in the ADM for 3-channel WDM signals with 1.6 nm wavelength spacing were confirmed. The ADM with signal amplification ability, which consists of a pair of FGCs, an EDF, and a pump-LD, was proposed and demonstrated. It was confirmed that the dropped and transmitted optical signals could be amplified in the ADM, and would be able to expand fiber routing spans. 相似文献

The article presents results of theoretical and experimental investigation of quasioptical multiplexer based on reflecting diffraction grating. Diffraction losses caused by reflection into mirror harmonic, and by angle divergence of wave beams are calculated. In this paper, super Moiré grating (SMG) with multiple superimposed gratings, in the best of our knowledge, is studied at first time. A flat multichannel transmission filter based on a chirped SMG with three superimposed gratings can be achieved, which benefits wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) system. At the same time, a reflection filter can also be obtained in a chirped SMG, which can be used as an optical add/drop multiplexer filter for WDM system. 相似文献
