在延迟脉冲激光场作用下的V型原子系统中,实现了对相干布居俘获,电磁感应透明的相干相位调制,选择适当的能级其调制频率可以达到飞秒量级.利用数值和解析分析得到了延迟脉冲和叠加态粒子数布居的关系,以及粒子布居受光场相位调制的特点和变化规律.利用这种机理可以实现飞秒量级的量子开关作用. 关键词: 相干相位调制 相干布居俘获 电磁感应透明 量子开关  相似文献

Two-dimensional laser cooling based on velocity-selective coherent population trapping is investigated theoretically for the J g=1J e=0 atomic transition. Wavevectors and polarizations of three laser beams are chosen to realize a coherent superposition of three degenerate ground states. For the first time in laser cooling, use is made of the electric field phases to realize coherent population trapping selective in two dimensions. Numerical solutions and analytic estimates are presented for laser cooling of helium atoms.  相似文献

We show that a quantum interference effect in optical absorption from two electronic spin states of a solid-state emitter can be used to prepare the surrounding environment of nuclear spins in well-defined states, thereby suppressing electronic spin dephasing. The coupled electron-nuclei system evolves into a coherent population trapping state by optical-excitation-induced nuclear-spin diffusion for a broad range of initial optical detunings. The spectroscopic signature of this evolution where the single-electron strongly modifies its environment is a drastic broadening of the dark resonance in optical absorption experiments. The large difference in electronic and nuclear time scales allows us to verify the preparation of nuclear spins in the desired state.  相似文献

We demonstrate very high-contrast coherent population trapping(1) (CPT) resonances by using four-wave mixing in (87)Rb atoms. In the experiment, we take advantage of the spectral overlap between F=2-->F(?) and F=3-->F(?) optical resonances on the D1 line of (87)Rb and (85)Rb atoms, respectively, to eliminate the DC-light background from the CPT resonance signal. We observe a CPT resonance with a contrast in the range of 90%, compared with a few percent achieved by alternative methods.  相似文献

Nondegenerate four-wave mixing (NDFWM) in a double-L system of Rb atomic vapor was achieved for collinear pump fields. By comparison of different pump-probe configurations, direct experimental evidence of influence of coherent population trapping on the output power of the NDFWM signal was established. A maximal efficiency for generating the NDFWM signal exists for a moderate pump power in this double-L system.  相似文献

We demonstrate a two-component detection of a coherent population trapping(CPT) resonance based on virtually imaged phased array(VIPA). After passing through a VIPA, the two coupling lights with different frequencies in the CPT experiment are separated in space and detected individually. The asymmetric lineshape is observed experimentally in the CPT signal for each component, and the comparison with the conventional detection is presented. The shift of the CPT resonant frequency is studied with both the two-component and one-component detections. Our scheme provides a convenient way to further study the CPT phenomenon for each frequency component.  相似文献

We measure the properties of coherent population trapping (CPT) resonances in Cs vapor cells as a function of temperature. We expected the CPT signal to increase with higher vapor density, but instead the signal fades away above a certain density. Two possible density-dependent explanations are discussed: spin-exchange collisions, which are found to give no relevant contribution at the temperatures considered here, and increased absorption due to the optical thickness of the vapor. The dependence of the dark-line resonance amplitude as a function of cell temperature can be well represented by a simple model based on the optical thickness of the vapor as a function of temperature. We investigate the influences of the-applied-field phases and amplitudes on the coherent population trapping behavior in superconducting quantum circuits. Based on the interactions of the microwave fields with a single ?-type three-level fluxonium qubit, the coherent population trapping could be obtainable and it is very sensitive to the relative phase and amplitudes of the applied fields. When the relative phase is tuned to 0 or π, the maximal atomic coherence is present and coherent population trapping occurs. While for the choice of π /2, the atomic coherence becomes weak. Meanwhile, for the fixed relative phase π /2, the value of coherence would decrease with the increase of Rabi frequency of the external field coupled with two lower levels. The responsible physical mechanism is quantum interference induced by the control fields,which is indicated in the dressed-state representation. The microwave coherent phenomenon is present in our scheme,which will have potential applications in optical communication and nonlinear optics in solid-state devices.  相似文献

The paper gives an overview of the use of the coherent population trapping phenomenon (CPT) in alkali-metal atoms in the implementation of atomic frequency standards. Several avenues are examined. These include: the approach using a combination of the CPT phenomenon and the Ramsey separated interaction field technique on an atomic beam; the passive approach in a cell in which the microwave hyperfine resonance excited by the CPT phenomenon is detected directly on the transmitted radiation; the maser approach in which the same resonance is observed by means of stimulated emission in a microwave cavity-cell arrangement; and, finally, the proposed approach using pulses in a time sequence that implements the combined CPT–Ramsey separated interaction field technique in time rather than in space. A review of field and laboratory implementations using these approaches is made.  相似文献

We consider the effect of the noise difference phase of a bichromatic field upon coherent population trapping resonances in the simplest three-level system in Λ configuration. The quasi-stationary solution of Bloch optical equations, which was found with some assumptions, shows that the presence of exciting short-correlated fluctuations of the phase of radiation reduces the contrast of the resonance line without affecting its spectral width. For the Gaussian phase noise the contrast suppression factor is χ = exp[?? rms 2 ], where ? rms 2 is phase dispersion. The experimental results obtained earlier by our group are analyzed.  相似文献

We show that strong squeezing and entanglement can be generated at the output of a cavity containing atoms interacting with two fields in a coherent population trapping situation, on account of a nonlinear Faraday effect experienced by the fields close to a dark-state resonance in a cavity. Moreover, the cavity provides a feedback mechanism allowing to reduce the quantum fluctuations of the ground state spin, resulting in strong steady state spin squeezing.  相似文献

Coherent population trapping is shown to occur in a driven symmetric double-well potential in the strong-field regime. The system parameters have been chosen to reproduce the 0(-) <--> 3(+) transition of the inversion mode of the ammonia molecule. For a molecule initially prepared in its lower doublet we find that, under certain circumstances, the 3(+) level remains unpopulated, and this occurs in spite of the fact that the laser field is resonant with the 0(-) <--> 3(+) transition and intense enough so as to strongly mix the 0(+) and 0(-) ground states. This counterintuitive result constitutes a coherent population trapping phenomenon of nonperturbative origin which cannot be accounted for with the usual models.  相似文献

An investigation is reported of coherent resonance in the degenerate two-level system of the (Fg = 2 --> Fe = 1) transition of the 87Rb D1 line by means of a Hanle effect configuration. In a coherent population trapping experiment, a very narrow (approximately 1-kHz) resonance superimposed upon a broader resonance (approximately 100 kHz) was observed. The dependence of the width and the amplitude of the coherent resonance on the laser power density, on additional constant magnetic fields, on the laser frequency position along the fluorescence profile, and on Rb cells with different dimensions was investigated.  相似文献

We consider the model of a Bose condensate in the regime of velocity-selective coherent population trapping. As a result of interaction between particles, some fraction of atoms is outside the condensate, remaining in the coherent trapping state. These atoms are involved in brief events of intense interaction with external resonant electromagnetic fields. Intense induced and spontaneous transitions are accompanied by the exchange of momenta between atoms and radiation, which is manifested as migration of atoms in the velocity space. The rate of such migration is calculated. A nonlinear kinetic equation for the many-particle statistical operator for uncondensed atoms is derived under the assumption that correlations of atoms with different momenta are insignificant. The structure of its steady-state solution leads to certain conclusions about the above-mentioned migration pattern taking the Bose statistics into consideration. With allowance for statistical effects, we derive nonlinear integral equations for frequencies controlling the migration. The results of numerical solution of these equations are represented in the weak interatomic interaction approximation.  相似文献

We propose a new optical frequency standard, based on a coherent population trapping resonance. Such standard is a self-mode locking laser, pulse repetition frequency of which is directly locked to microwave clock-transition—the transition between the hyperfine ground state components of alkali atom. We present an experimental and theoretical investigation of the coherent population trapping (CPT) resonance excited on the D1 line of 87Rb atoms by bichromatic linearly polarized laser light. The experimental results show that a lin||lin tran- sition scheme is a promising alternative to the conventional circular-circular transition scheme for an atomic magnetometer. Compared with the circular light transition scheme, linear light accounts for high-contrast transmission resonances, which makes this excitation scheme promising for high-sensitivity magnetometers. We also use linear light and circular light to detect changes of a standard magnetic field, separately.  相似文献
