A method for the ion chromatographic separation of cationic CrFx-species in aqueous acidic solutions with photometric detection is described. CrF3-, CrF+2- and CrF2+-species can be separated on a commercial cation-exchange column using HCl/2,3-diaminopropionic acid (DAP) as eluent. The chromium(III)-complexes are converted with 2,6- pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDCA) into the violet [Cr(PDCA)2]--complex at temperatures >90°C by post-column derivatisation for the subsequent spectrophotometric detection at =335 nm. Iron- and nickel-ions do not disturb the determination even in concentrations higher than those of the chromium (III)-ions.  相似文献

The reactions of chromium and chromium fluoride monocations CrFn+ (n = 0-4) with phosphane are investigated by Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. Besides condensing slowly with phosphane, Cr+ is unreactive. The ionic products of the chromium fluoride cations are as follows: (i) CrF+ yields CrPH2+ and subsequently CrPH3+; (ii) from CrF2+, the ions PH3+, Cr+, and CrF2H+ are generated; and (iii) both CrF3+ and CrF4+ yield PH3+. The structure and formation of [Cr,P,H3]+ are investigated by collision-induced dissociation and isotopic labeling experiments. For the neutral species [P,H3,F2] formed by reaction of CrF2+ with phosphane, the structures are interrogated by quantum-mechanical calculations at the MP2/6-31++G** level of theory.  相似文献

A flow injection method is proposed for the determination of nanogram amounts of chromium(III) using a pyrogallol chemiluminescence system. It is based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of pyrogallol with periodate at a neutral medium. The addition of 3-(N-morpholino)propanesulphonic acid to the reaction system increased the chemiluminescence signal for chromium(III). The present method allows the determination of 5-100ng/ml of chromium(III). The relative standard deviation of 2.2% (n = 10) was obtained at 20 ng/ml of chromium(III) and the detection limit (signal-to-noise ratio = 2) was 1 ng/ml with the sampling frequency of 25/hr.  相似文献

The structure and stability of VF(5) and the higher chromium fluorides CrF(4), CrF(5), and CrF(6) have been investigated using density functional theory. The local density approximation (LDA) was used to obtain geometries and vibrational frequencies, while nonlocal corrections were added in order to obtain more accurate binding energies. The results obtained for CrF(4) and VF(5) are in good agreement with the available experimental data, indicating the quality of the method used. Both CrF(5) and CrF(6) are found to be stable with respect to Cr-F dissociation. The calculated binding energies are 49.7 and 40.7 kcal/mol, respectively. In agreement with recent ab initio work, the octahedral isomer is found to be the most stable for CrF(6). An activation barries of 16.9 kcal/mol is calculated for pseudorotation to a trigonal prism transition structure. CrF(5) is found to be dynamically Jahn-Teller distorted from D(3h) to C(2v) symmetry.  相似文献

A simple method was developed for the simultaneous determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), where Cr(III) was chelated with ligands to form anionic complexes. Nitrilotriacetic acid, N-2-hydroxyethylenediaminetriacetic acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid, and 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDCA) were investigated as Cr(III) complexing ligands. Of all the ligands studied, 2,6-PDCA with Cr(III) gave the largest UV response and high selectivity for Cr(III). In addition, the condition for pre-column derivatization, including pH, concentration ratio [Cr(III)/2,6-PDCA] and the stability of Cr(III) complexes were also examined. The separation of anionic forms of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) was achieved using co-CZE with UV detection at 185 nm. The electrolyte contained 30 mM phosphate, 0.5 mM tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide, 0.1 mM 2,6-PDCA and 15% (v/v) acetonitrile at pH 6.4. The detection limits were 2 microM for Cr(III) and 3 microM for Cr(VI) and linear plots were obtained in a concentration range of 5-200 microM. The utility of the method was demonstrated for the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in contaminated soils.  相似文献

A new spectrophotometric determination method of hexavalent chromium in waste water and plating baths is described based on the oxidation of beryllon III by chromium(VI) in 0.02M sulphuric acid medium. The decrease in the absorbance of beryllon III was measured at 482 nm with an apparent molar absorptivity of 5.15 x 10(4)1.mole(-1).cm(-1). Beer's law was obeyed for chromium(VI) over the range 0-25 mug/25 ml. After the oxidation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI) by ammonium persulphate, total chromium can be determined. Therefore, chromium(III) can be calculated by subtracting chromium(VI) from total chromium. The detection limit is 0.015 and 0.020 mug/25 ml for chromium(VI) and total chromium, respectively. A sensitive spectrophotometric method for trace Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in waste water and plating baths was developed with good precision and accuracy. The reaction is also discussed.  相似文献

A selective preconcentration of chromium(VI) is proposed for analysis of natural waters. Chromium(VI) is quantitatively separated from chromium(III) by coprecipitation with barium sulfate; salicylic acid is used as a masking agent for iron(III), aluminum(III) and chromium(III). The precipitate is fused with alkali carbonate, and the chromium(VI) in the melt is isolated with hot water and determined spectrophotometrically with diphenylcarbazide. The detection limit is 0.02 μg l-1 the relative standard deviation for chromium(VI) in river water is less than 5%.  相似文献

A simple and convenient method has been developed for the speciation of chromium(III) and chromium(VI) in aqueous solutions using a sodium dodecyl sulphate coated alumina micro-column (1.5 cm x 5 mm i.d.) and graphite furnace-atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS). Under the optimized conditions (pH 0.6, adjusted with hydrochloric acid; flow rate, 1 ml min(-1)) chromium(VI) is retained on the column and chromium(III) is collected and determined by GF-AAS. Total chromium is directly determined by GF-AAS and chromium(VI) is calculated by difference. The relative standard deviations (10 replicate analyses) at the 20 mug l(-1) level for chromium(III) and chromium(VI) and at the 40 mug l(-1) level for total chromium were 1.4%, 3.6% and 1.8%, and the corresponding limits of detection (based on 3sigma) were 0.57 mug ml(-1), 0.61 mug ml(-1) and 0.35 mug l(-1) respectively. No large interference effects have been observed from other investigated species and the method has been successfully applied to a range of water samples.  相似文献

The dismutation of CCl(2)F(2) was used to probe the effect of halogenation of chromia by Cl/F exchange reactions to find out the difference between the halogenated inactive and active catalysts. The heterogeneous reactions were performed in a continuous flow Ni reactor and also under simulated reaction conditions in a reactor where after the reaction X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray excited Auger electron spectroscopy (XAES) analyses are possible without air exposure of the catalyst, i.e., under so-called "in situ" conditions. The Cr(III) 2p XP spectra, which revealed multiplet splitting features and satellite emission, were used for chemical analysis by using a simple evaluation procedure which neglects this inherent complexity. Chemical analysis was also applied by using chemical state plots for Cr 3s in order to cross-check Cr 2p related results. Both ex and in situ XPS show that as soon as Cr(2)O(3) is exposed to CCl(2)F(2) at 390 degrees C fluorination as well as chlorination takes place at the catalyst surface. When the XPS surface composition reaches approximately 4 at. % fluorination and 6 at. % chlorination, maximum catalytic activity was obtained. Application of longer reaction times did not change significantly the obtained surface composition of the activated chromia. The fluorination and chlorination of chromia was further investigated by various HF and HCl treatments. The activated chromia samples and the Cr(2)O(3), Cr(OH)(3), CrF(2)OH, CrF(3) x H(2)O, alpha-CrF(3), beta-CrF(3), and CrCl(3) reference samples with well-known chemical structures were also characterized by X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES), time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (TOF-SIMS), pyridine-FTIR, wet chemical (F and Cl) analysis, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and surface area (BET) analysis. The results suggest that the formation of chromium oxide chloride fluoride species, e.g., chromium oxide halides, at the surface is sufficient to provide catalytic activity. The presence of any CrF(3) and/or CrCl(3) phases on the activated chromia samples was not found.  相似文献

We present a method for the speciation of chromium by capillary electrophoresis. Cr(III) was complexed with diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) to form a negatively charged complex. Using 20 mM phosphate buffer of pH 8 containing 0.5 mM tetradecyltrimethylammonium hydroxide (TTAOH) at a separation voltage of -15 kV, both forms of chromium CrDTPA(2-) and CrO(4) (2-) were separated in less than 6 min. Direct UV detection at 214 nm was used. The effect of the presence of interfering ions was investigated. The application of the developed method to speciation of chromium in tanning liquor is demonstrated. The obtained results have shown a good correlation with those of flame atomic absorbance spectrometry (FAAS), inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and UV/VIS spectrophotometry.  相似文献

The rotational spectra of the CrF and CrCl radicals in the X 6Sigma+ state were observed by employing a Fourier transform microwave spectrometer. The CrF and CrCl radicals were generated by the reaction of laser-ablated Cr with F2 and Cl2, respectively, diluted in Ar. A chromium rod made of chromium powder pasted with epoxy resin was ablated by a Nd:YAG laser. Rotational transitions were measured in the region between 8 and 26 GHz. Several hyperfine constants due to the halogen nuclei were determined by a least-squares analysis. The electronic properties of CrF and CrCl were derived from their hyperfine constants and were compared with those of other 3d transition metal monohalides: TiF, MnF, FeF, CoF, NiF, and FeCl.  相似文献

A manifold incorporation an activated alumina (basic form) minicolumn is used to preconcentrate chromium(III), which is then eluted with 2 M nitric acid for detection. Calibration is linear up to 1000 μg l? Cr, and the limit of detection for a 10-ml sample is 0.05 μg l?1. The determination of chromium(III) in human urine is discussed.  相似文献

Dibenzyldithiocarbamic acid (DBDC) exhibits the ability to speciate between chromium(VI) and chromium(III), since only the chromium(VI) will form complexes with DBDC. The complex is then extracted into an organic solvent and assayed using an ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectrophotometer at 498.8 nm. Using 250 ml of aqueous sample detection limits less than 1 ng/ml are possible, while the linear range extends to 500 gmg/ml when working at 498.8 nm. Oxidation of the chromium(III) to chromium (VI) using cerium (IV) enables the determination of total chromium and subsequently the chromium (III) in solution. Evaluation of the method with a standard reference material produced only 4.81 part per thousand error in the determination of chromium(VI).  相似文献

The presence of chromium in chromium-tanned leather represents a considerable health problem since it can lead to chronic allergic contact dermatitis. Apart from trivalent chromium (Cr(III)), which is used for tanning, leather often contains hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)), resulting from the oxidation of Cr(III) during the tanning process. This study deals with the chromium compounds in simulated sweat when brought into contact with Cr(III) or Cr(VI) and with chromium-tanned leathers. A capillary electrophoresis (CE) method was developed, with inductively coupled plasma-sector field-mass spectrometry (ICP-SF-MS) for element-specific detection. Two different electrophoretic runs, applying once the positive and once the negative polarity mode, were necessary for the detection of positively and negatively charged chromium species. Although sometimes described in the literature, a pre-run derivatization of the chromium-species was not performed here to prevent species transformation. 50 mmol.L(-1) sodium phosphate at a pH of 2.5 was used as CE separation buffer and as make-up liquid for the CE-ICP-SF-MS interface. When applied to simulated sweat samples incubated with Cr(VI), this method showed that methionine is responsible for the reduction of Cr(VI) into Cr(III), which, at its turn, forms a complex with lactic acid. In the case of sweat plus Cr(III), the latter step was also seen. Applied to simulated sweat in contact with leather samples, the method developed showed the presence of the former species among a much more complex pattern.  相似文献

Luminescence quenching of a novel long lived Eu(III)–pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid probe of 1:2 stoichiometric ratio has been studied in 0.10 volume fraction ethanol–water mixture at pH 7.5 (HEPES buffer) in the presence of the organophosphorus pesticides chlorfenvinphos (P1), malathion (P2), azinphos (P3), and paraxon ethyl (P4). The luminescence intensity of Eu(III)–(PDCA)2 probe decreases as the concentration of the pesticide increases. It was observed that the quenching due to P3 and P4 proceeds via both diffusional and static quenching processes. Direct methods for the determination of the pesticides under investigation have been developed using the luminescence quenching of Eu(III)–pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid probe in solution. The linear range for determination of the selected pesticides is 1.0–35.0 μM. The detection limits were 0.24–0.55 μM for P3, P4, and P1 and 2.5 μM for P2, respectively. The binding constants (K), and thermodynamic parameters of the OPs with Eu(III)–(PDCA)2 were evaluated. Positive and negative values of entropy (ΔS) and enthalpy (ΔH) changes for Eu(III)–(PDCA)2–P1 ternary complex were calculated. As the waters in this study do not contain the above mentioned OPs over the limit detectable by the method, a recovery study was carried out after the addition of the adequate amounts of the organophosphorus pesticides under investigation.  相似文献

2,6-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDCA) was evaluated as an eluent for indirect UV and non-suppressed conductivity detection of carboxylic acids in ion-exclusion chromatography. The effect of PDCA concentration on the separation and detection sensitivity was investigated. The reasonable resolutions between carboxylic acids were achieved using 1 mM PDCA eluent. Detection limits were 1.0-7.0 microM for conductivity detection and 8-30 microM for UV detection. Compared to the eluent containing 1 mM sulfuric acid, the method offers a high resolution and high detection sensitivity for both detectors due to its high molar absorptivity and low background conductance. The proposed method was demonstrated to be useful for the determination of carboxylic acids in environmental samples with direct sample injection.  相似文献

Ion exchange chelation chromatography is an effective means to extract metals from coordination complexes and biological samples; however there is a lack of data to verify the nature of metal complexes that can be successfully analysed using such a procedure. The aim of this study was to assess the capability of pyridine 2,6‐dicarboxylic acid (PDCA) to extract and quantify Ga(III) from a range of environments using standard liquid chromatography apparatus. The PDCA chelation method generated a single Ga(III) peak with a retention time of 2.55 ± 0.02 min, a precision of <2% and a limit of detection of 110 μM. Ga(III) hydroxide complexes (highest stability constant 15.66) were used to successfully cross‐validate the chelation method with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The PDCA assay extracted 96.9 ± 1.2% of the spiked Ga(III) from porcine mucus and 100.7 ± 2.7% from a citrate complex (stability constant 10.02), but only ca 50% from an EDTA complex (stability constant 22.01). These data suggest that PDCA chelation can be considered a suitable alternative to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for Ga(III) quantification from all but the most strongly bound coordinated complexes i.e. a stability constant of <15. A reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic separation and determination of beryllium(II), aluminium(III) and chromium(III) with chromotrope 2C chelates on a C18-bonded stationary phase is reported. Methanol-water (45:55 v/v) containing 6 x 10(-3)M tetra-n-butylammonium bromide (TBAB) and 2 x 10(-2)M acetate buffer solution (pH 6.0) as mobile phase and with spectrophotometric detection at 530 nm was applied. The method has high sensitivity, the detection limits being 0.2 ppb for beryllium(I), 1 ppb for aluminium(III) and 2 ppb for chromium(III). Under the optimum conditions, most other metal ions did not interfere, e.g. up to 2 mg of Hg(II), Sn(II, IV), Pb(II), Bi(III), Ag(I), Zn(II), Cd(II), Cu(II), 1.5 mg of Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), 1.2 mg of Ca(II), Mg(II), Sr(II), Ba(II), 1 mg of Ga(III), In(III), 0.5 mg of Fe(III), 1 mg of Ga(III), In(III), 0.5 mg of Fe(III), 0.4 mg of Th(IV), Zr(IV). The method can be applied to the simultaneous determination of trace amounts of beryllium(II), aluminium(III) and chromium(III), in water, rice, flour and human hair samples.  相似文献
