Summary Let {x(t): tR d} a stochastic process with parameter in R d, and u a fixed real number. Denote by C u, Au, Bu respectively the random sets {t: x(t)= u}, {t: x(t)}, {t: x(t)>u}. The paper contains two main results for processes with continuously differentiable paths plus some additional requirements: First, a formula for the expectation of Q T(Au) and Q T(Bu), where for a given bounded open set T in R d, QT(B) denotes the perimeter of B relative to T and second, sufficient conditions on the process, so that it does not have local extrema on the barrier u. Let A be a unital separable nuclear C*-algebra which belongs to the bootstrap category N and B be a separable stable C*-algebra. In this paper, we consider the group Ext u (A, B) consisting of the unitary equivalence classes of unital extensions τ: A→Q(B). The relation between Ext u (A, B) and Ext(A, B) is established. Using this relation, we show the half-exactness of Ext u (·, B) and the (UCT) for Ext u (A, B). Furthermore, under certain conditions, we obtain the half-exactness and Bott periodicity of Ext u (A, ·).  相似文献

We consider the equation u tt + A(u t ) + B(u) = 0, where A and B are quasilinear operators with respect to the variable x of the second order and the fourth order, respectively. The Cauchy problemdu/dt+Au+B(t,u)∋0,u(0)=u 0 is studied in a separable Hilbert space setting, whenA is a multivalued maximal monotone operator, andB is a multivalued operator which is measurable with respect to the time variable and upper semi-continuous with respect to the space variable. Under some boundedness conditions onB, an existence theorem is proved, with the extra assumption, in the infinite dimensional case thatA is the subdifferential of a proper lower semi-continuous inf-compact convex function. In a Banach space E, we consider the inverse problem du(t)/dt = Au(t) + (t)p , u(0) = u 0, u(T) = u1, with an unknown function u(t) and an element p E. The operator A is assumed linear and closed. Let A be the generator of a cosine function on a Banach space X. In many cases, for example if X is a UMD-space, A+B generates a cosine function for each BL(D((ωA)1/2),X). If A is unbounded and , then we show that there exists a rank-1 operator BL(D(γ(ωA)),X) such that A+B does not generate a cosine function. The proof depends on a modification of a Baire argument due to Desch and Schappacher. It also allows us to prove the following. If A+B generates a distribution semigroup for each operator BL(D(A),X) of rank-1, then A generates a holomorphic C0-semigroup. If A+B generates a C0-semigroup for each operator BL(D(γ(ωA)),X) of rank-1 where 0<γ<1, then the semigroup T generated by A is differentiable and ‖T(t)‖=O(tα) as t↓0 for any α>1/γ. This is an approximate converse of a perturbation theorem for this class of semigroups.  相似文献

We consider the equation of mixed type (k(y) ? 0 whenever y ? 0) in a region G which is bounded by the curves: A piecewise smooth curve Γ lying in the half-plane y > 0 which intersects the line y = 0 at the points A(-1, 0) and B(0, 0). For y < 0 by a piecewise smooth curve Γ through A which meets the characteristic of (1) issued from B at the point P and the curve Γ which consists of the portion PB of the characteristic through B. We obtain sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of the solution of the problem L[u] = f, dnu: = k(y)uxdyuydx|γ0 = = Ψ(s) for a “general” function k(y), when r(x, y) is not necessarily zero and Γ1 is of a more general form then in the papers of V. We study the initial-boundary value problem for ?t2u(t,x)+A(t)u(t,x)+B(t)?tu(t,x)=f(t,x) on [0,T]×Ω(Ω??n) with a homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition; here A(t) denotes a family of uniformly strongly elliptic operators of order 2m, B(t) denotes a family of spatial differential operators of order less than or equal to m, and u is a scalar function. We prove that every closed normal subgroupH of a locally compact amenable groupG is a Ditkin set with respect to the Herz-Figà-Talamanca algebraA p (G) (p>1). Let be the canonical map ofG ontoG/H andF a closed subset ofG/H. We show thatF is a Ditkin set if and only if everyuA p (G), which vanishes on –1, lies on the norm closure of the subspace ofA p (G) generated by {u h |hH, vA p (G)C 00(G)} whereu h (x)=u(x h). Let A be a standard operator algebra acting on a (real or complex) normed space E. For two n-tuples A = (A1, … , An) and B = (B1, … , Bn) of elements in A, we define the elementary operator RA,B on A by the relation for all X in A. For a single operator AA, we define the two particular elementary operators LA and RA on A by LA(X) = AX and RA(X) = XA, for every X in A. We denote by d(RA,B) the supremum of the norm of RA,B(X) over all unit rank one operators on E. In this note, we shall characterize: (i) the supremun d(RA,B), (ii) the relation , (iii) the relation d(LA − RB) = ∥A∥ + ∥B∥, (iv) the relation d(LARB − LBRA) = 2∥A∥ + ∥B∥. We consider the class of equations ut=f(uxx, ux, u) under the restriction that for all a,b,c. We first consider this equation over the unbounded domain ? ∞ < x < + ∞, and we show that very nearly every bounded nonmonotonic solution of the form u(t, x)=?(x?ct) is unstable to all nonnegative and all nonpositive perturbations. We then extend these results to nonmonotonic plane wave solutions u(t, x, y)=?(x?ct) of ut = F(uxx, uxy, ux, uy, u). Finally, we consider the class of equations ut=f(uxx, ux, u) over the bounded domain 0 < x < 1 with the boundary conditions u(t, x)=A at x=0 and u(t, x)=B at x=1, and we find the stability of all steady solutions u(t, x)=?(x).  相似文献

We prove the following theorem, which is an analog for discrete set functions of a geometric result of Lovász and Simonovits. It is shown that every almost linear bijection of a unital C-algebra A onto a unital C-algebra B is a C-algebra isomorphism when h(n2uy)=h(n2u)h(y) for all unitaries uA, all yA, and n=0,1,2,…, and that almost linear continuous bijection of a unital C-algebra A of real rank zero onto a unital C-algebra B is a C-algebra isomorphism when h(n2uy)=h(n2u)h(y) for all , all yA, and n=0,1,2,…. Assume that X and Y are left normed modules over a unital C-algebra A. It is shown that every surjective isometry , satisfying T(0)=0 and T(ux)=uT(x) for all xX and all unitaries uA, is an A-linear isomorphism. This is applied to investigate C-algebra isomorphisms between unital C-algebras.  相似文献
