Summary We discuss the feasibility of a telescope consisting in a sampling array for extensive air showers measure combined with a muon tracking device. The sampling array will extend over a surface of ≥107 m2 while the muon tracking device will cover ≥104 m2. The telescope should be done with resistive plates counters and would become a very powerful device to study high-energy neutrinos and gamma-ray astronomy as well as cosmicray physics up to the highest energy (≥1019 eV) region. The content of this paper has been elaborated with the following people interested in performing the experiment: M. De Palma, G. Iaselli, C. Maggi, S. Natali, S. Nuzzo, A. Ranieri, C. Raso, F. Two interacting vibrational modes ν6 and ν8 of 13C species of formic acid have been studied with high resolution FTIR spectroscopy in the range 900-1300 cm−1 with an instrumental resolution of 0.0018 cm−1. More than 10 000 lines have been assigned and fitted with a RMS deviation of 0.00024 cm−1. The band centers, as well as the rotational, quartic and sextic centrifugal distortion parameters and 6 interaction parameters have been determined. The obtained parameters have enabled the assignments of 24 FIR laser emissions of this molecule observed previously by Dangoisse and Glorieux [D. Dangoisse, P. Glorieux, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 92 (1982) 283-297], Luis et al. [G.M.R.S. Luis, E.M. Telles, A. Scalabrin, D. Pereira, IEEE J. Quantum. Electron. QE-34 (1998) 767-769], and Bertolini et al. [A. Bertolini, G. Summary MACRO is a large-area detector to be installed in hall B of the Gran Sasso Laboratory. Making use of scintillation counters, plastic streamer tubes, and track-etch detectors, it is designed to search for superheavy magnetic monopoles beyond the Parker bound, high-energy gamma and neutrino cosmic sourcs, and, more in general, exotic phenomena in the cosmic radiation. MACTO is an acronym for Monopole, Astrophysics and Cosmic Ray Observatory. The present collaboration: Bari(**)C. De Marzo, O. Erriquez, N. Giglietto andF. Posa. Bologna(**):M. Attolini, F. We investigate the beam energy dependence of neutron and proton squeeze-out in collisions of197Au+197Au atE/A=400—800 MeV. The azimuthal anisotropy that describes the enhanced emission of mid-rapidity neutrons perpendicular to the reaction plane rises strongly with the transverse momentum of the neutrons. This dependence of the azimuthal anisotropy follows a universal curve — independent of beam energy — if the neutron momenta are measured in fractions of the projectile momentum per mass unit. Analogously, the kinetic energy spectra of mid-rapidity neutrons exhibit a universal behaviour as a function of the kinetic energy of the projectile. The members of the FOPI-collaboration: J.P. It has recently been shown that growth of a multilayer structure with one or more delta-layers at high temperature leads to spreading and asymmetrization of the dopant distribution [see, for example, E.F.J. In this work analytical and numerical analysis of dopant dynamics in a delta-doped area of a multilayer structure has been accomplished using Fick's second law. Some reasons for asymmetrization of a delta-dopant distribution are illustrated. The spreading of a delta-layer has been estimated using example materials of a multilayer structure, a delta-layer and an overlayer.  相似文献

The results of the experiment on the measurement of the e + e → π+π cross section in a cm energy range of 370–520 MeV are presented. The systematic measurement error is equal to 0.7%. In the vector dominance model, the pion electromagnetic radius is calculated using all the CMD-2 data on the pion form factor. The cross section for the production of a muon pair is measured in the energy range of the experiment. Original Russian Text ? V.M. Aul’chenko, R.R. Akhmetshin, V.Sh. Banzarov, L.M. Barkov, N.S. Using the master equation approach to a V-type three-level atom inside a high-finesse single-mode cavity in the strong coupling condition, we demonstrate the approximation of eliminating populations of atomic excited states, which is widely used in the field of the atom-cavity systems [Hechenblaikner G, Gangl M, Horak P and Ritsch H 1998 Phys. Rev. A 58 3030]; Liu L W, Tan T and Xu Y 2008 J. Mod. Opt. 56 968; Cho J, Angelakis D G and Bose S 2008 Phys. Rev. A 78 062338. This is reflected in the deviation of the population δ, of which the value is 10-3~10-2. We further find the deviation of the dipole force and demonstrate that the deviation of atomic population will not notably affect the dipole force of the atom in the strong coupling condition. A relevant experimental case is also presented.  相似文献

There has been an increasing technological interest on magnetic thin films containing antidot arrays of hexagonal or square symmetry. Part of this interest is related to the possibility of domain formation and pinning at the antidots boundaries. In this paper, we develop an accurate method for the simulation of the magnetic moments distribution for such arrays. The method concentrates the calculations on the immediate vicinity of each antidot. For each antidot distribution (square or hexagonal) a suitable system of coordinates is defined to exploit the shape of the unit-cells of the overall nanostructure. The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert-Brown equations that govern the distribution of moments are rewritten in terms of these coordinates. The moments orientation is calculated as a function of time until equilibrium is reached, in a Cartesian grid defined for these new coordinate systems. A conformal transformation is applied to insert the moment vectors into the actual unit-cell. The resulting vector maps display quite clearly regions of different moment orientation around the antidots, which can be associated with nanoscale domains. The results are similar to the ones obtained by other authors [C.C. Wang, A.O. Adeyeye, N. Singh, Nanotechnology 17, 1629 (2006); C.C. Wang, A.O. Adeyeye, N. Singh, Y.S. Huang, Y.H. Hu, Phys. Rev. A new mechanism for positive muon spin-lattice relaxation (SLR) in an antiferromagnet is described. The temperature dependence of the relaxation rate (1/T 1) is calculated in a simplified case, and SLR of muon in MnF2 is studied in the context of this model. The author wishes to thank: S. R. Human beings like to believe they are in control of their destiny. This ubiquitous trait seems to increase motivation and persistence, and is probably evolutionarily adaptive [J.D. Taylor, S.E. Brown, Psych. Bull. 103, 193 (1988); A. Bandura, Self-efficacy: the exercise of control (WH Freeman, New York, 1997)]. But how good really is our ability to control? How successful is our track record in these areas? There is little understanding of when and under what circumstances we may over-estimate [E. Langer, J. Pers. Soc. Psych. 7, 185 (1975)] or even lose our ability to control and optimize outcomes, especially when they are the result of aggregations of individual optimization processes. Here, we demonstrate analytically using the theory of Markov Chains and by numerical simulations in two classes of games, the Time-Horizon Minority Game [M.L. Hart, P. Jefferies, N.F. Johnson, Phys. A 311, 275 (2002)] and the Parrondo Game [J.M.R. Parrondo, G.P. Harmer, D. Abbott, Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 5226 (2000); J.M.R. Parrondo, How to cheat a bad mathematician (ISI, Italy, 1996)], that agents who optimize their strategy based on past information may actually perform worse than non-optimizing agents. In other words, low-entropy (more informative) strategies under-perform high-entropy (or random) strategies. This provides a precise definition of the “illusion of control” in certain set-ups a priori defined to emphasize the importance of optimization. An erratum to this article is available at .  相似文献

We present a combined experimental and theoretical study on the rotationally inelastic scattering of OH (X2Π3/2, J = 3/2, f) radicals with the collision partners He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, and D2 as a function of the collision energy between ~70 cm?1 and 400 cm?1. The OH radicals are state selected and velocity tuned prior to the collision using a Stark decelerator, and field-free parity-resolved state-to-state inelastic relative scattering cross sections are measured in a crossed molecular beam configuration. For all OH-rare gas atom systems excellent agreement is obtained with the cross sections predicted by coupled channel scattering calculations based on accurate ab initio potential energy surfaces. This series of experiments complements recent studies on the scattering of OH radicals with Xe [J.J. Gilijamse, S. Hoekstra, S.Y.T. van de Meerakker, G.C. Groenenboom, G. Meijer, Science 313, 1617 (2006)], Ar [L. Scharfenberg, J. K?os, P.J. Dagdigian, M.H. Alexander, G. Meijer, S.Y.T. van de Meerakker, Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 12, 10660 (2010)], He, and D2 [M. Kirste, L. Scharfenberg, J. K?os, F. Lique, M.H. Alexander, G. Meijer, S.Y.T. van de Meerakker, Phys. Rev. A 82, 042717 (2010)]. A comparison of the relative scattering cross sections for this set of collision partners reveals interesting trends in the scattering behavior.  相似文献
