We consider the amalgamation of bounded involution posets over a strictly directed graph as applied to orthomodular lattices, orthomodular posets or orthoalgebras. In the finite setting, we show that the order dimension of the amalgamation does not exceed that of the amalgamated structures by more than one. The study of biharmonic functions under the ordinary (Euclidean) Laplace operator on the open unit disk \mathbbD{\mathbb{D}} in \mathbbC{\mathbb{C}} arises in connection with plate theory, and in particular, with the biharmonic Green functions which measure, subject to various boundary conditions, the deflection at one point due to a load placed at another point. A homogeneous tree T is widely considered as a discrete analogue of the unit disk endowed with the Poincaré metric. The usual Laplace operator on T corresponds to the hyperbolic Laplacian. In this work, we consider a bounded metric on T for which T is relatively compact and use it to define a flat Laplacian which plays the same role as the ordinary Laplace operator on \mathbbD{\mathbb{D}}. We then study the simply-supported and the clamped biharmonic Green functions with respect to both Laplacians.  相似文献

Let Ω be a domain in ? N such that $\left(\mathbb{R}^{N}\cup\lbrace\infty\rbrace\right)\setminus\Omega$ is connected. It is known that, for each w?∈?Ω, there exist harmonic functions on Ω that are universal at w, in the sense that partial sums of their homogeneous polynomial expansion about w approximate all plausibly approximable functions in the complement of Ω. Under the assumption that Ω omits an infinite cone, it is shown that the connectedness hypothesis on $\left(\mathbb{R}^{N}\cup\lbrace\infty\rbrace\right)\setminus\Omega$ is essential, and that a harmonic function which is universal at one point is actually universal at all points of Ω.  相似文献

In this paper we advance a practical solution of the classification problem of Boolean functions by the affine group – the largest group of linear transformations of variables. We show that the affine types (equivalence classes) can be arranged in a unique infinite sequence which contains all previous lists of types. The types are specified by their minimal representatives, spectral invariants, and stabilizer orders. A brief survey of the fundamental transformation groups is included.  相似文献

DNA sequence data provide a good source of information on the evolutionary history of organisms. Among the proposed methods, the maximum likelihood methods require an explicit probabilistic model of nucleotide substitution that makes the assumption clear. However, procedures for testing hypotheses on topologies have not been well developed. We propose a revised version of the maximum likelihood estimator of a tree and derive some of its properties. Then we present tests to compare given trees and to derive the most likely candidates for the true topology, applying to maximum likelihoods the notion of contrast, as defined in the framework of the analysis of variance, and the procedures used in multiple comparison. In 1929, Birkhoff proved the existence of an entire function F on with the property that for any entire function f there exists a sequence {ak} of complex numbers such that {F(ζ+ak)} converges to f (ζ) uniformly on compact sets. Luh proved a variant of Birkhoff's theorem and the second author proved a theorem analogous to that of Luh for the multiplicative group *. In this paper extensions of the above results to the multi-dimensional case are proved. We denote by (G) the set of all holomorphic functions on G. Similarly, we define ( ). Let K be the (G)-hull of a compact set K in G. Our main result is the following. Let Ω be an open subset of N such that 0Ω and N\Ω is connected. It is shown that there exists a series ∑Hn, where Hn is a homogeneous harmonic polynomial of degree n on N, such that (i) ∑Hn converges on some ball of centre 0 to a function that is continuous on Ω and harmonic on Ω, (ii) the partial sums of ∑Hn are dense in (K) for every compact subset K of N\Ω with connected complement. Here P is a (generally) nonlinear operator in a Hilbert space, β: H → ? ∞ is a convex, proper (β ≠ + ∞) and lower-semicontinuous functional and δβ(u) stands for the subdifferential of β at the point u. The present paper has two parts. The first part contents the main results of Dinca [1] without proofs. We present a model of computation for string functions over single-sorted, total algebraic structures and study some basic features of a general theory of computability within this framework. Our concept generalizes the Blum-Shub-Smale setting of computability over the reals and other rings. By dealing with strings of arbitrary length instead of tuples of fixed length, some suppositions of deeper results within former approaches to generalized recursion theory become superfluous. Moreover, this gives the basis for introducing computational complexity in a BSS-like manner. Relationships both to classical computability and to Friedman's concept of eds computability are established. Two kinds of nondeterminism as well as several variants of recognizability are investigated with respect to interdependencies on each other and on properties of the underlying structures. For structures of finite signatures, there are universal programs with the usual characteristics. For the general case of not necessarily finite signature, this subject will be studied in a separate, forthcoming paper.  相似文献
