A detailed analysis is reported examining the local magnetic susceptibility (r), in relation to the correlation functionG(R) and correlation length , of a spherical model ferromagnet confined to geometry =L dd × d ( d 2,d>2) under a continuous set oftwisted boundary conditions. The twist parameter in this problem may be interpreted as a measure of the geometry-dependent doping level of interfacial impurities (or antiferromagnetic seams) in theextended system at various temperatures. For j 0, jd-d, no seams are present except at infinity, whereas if j = 1/2, impurity saturation occurs. For 0 < j < 1/2 the physical domain phys =D dd × d (D>L), defining the region between seams containing the origin, depends on temperature above a certain threshold (T>T 0). Below that temperature (T>T 0), seams are frozen at the same position (DL/2,d-d'=1), revealing a smoothly varying largescale structural phase transition.  相似文献

A method is suggested for the derivation of finite-size corrections in the thermodynamic functions of systems with pair interaction potential decaying at large distancesr asr d , whered is the space dimensionality and>0. It allows for a unified treatment of short-range (=2) and long-range (<2) interaction. The asymptotic analysis is illustrated by the mean spherical model of general geometryL d–d× d subject to periodic boundary conditions. The Fisher-Privman equation of state is generalized to arbitrary real values ofd, 0d. It is shown that the-expansion may be used to study the breakdown of standard finite-size scaling at the borderline dimensionalities.  相似文献

A slight modification of the recent Penrose and Lebowitz treatment of thermodynamic metastable states is presented. For the case of periodic boundary conditions, this modification allows the condition of metastability to be extended to all the metastable states in the van der Waals-Maxwell theory of the liquid-vapor phase transition, that is, for all states satisfyingf 0()+1/2 2>f(, 0+) andf0()+x>0 wheref(, 0+) is the (stable) Helmholtz free energy density of the generalized van der Waals-Maxwell theory andf 0() is the Helmholtz free energy density of a reference system with no long-range interaction, is a mean field-type term arising from a long-range Kac interaction, is the overall mean particle density, andx is any positive number. For the case of rigid-wall boundary conditions, a more restrictive condition is placed onx.  相似文献

The relation between relaxation timeT, frequency swept resonance linewidth , and phenomenological damping is given by =2/T=(x+y), where x,y = (H 0+(N x,y –N z ) 4M s ).N x,y,z are sample demagnetizing factors,H 0 is the effectivez-directed static field, 4M s is the saturation induction, and is the gyromagnetic ratio. This fairly simple but general relation shows that the numerical relation between damping and relaxation at a given frequency can be quite different for in-plane and normally magnetized thin films. For thesame loss processes, so thatT andT are equal, is larger than . For permalloy films at 1 GHz, =15 . In addition, the conventional field swept linewidth, H=/, is simply related to only forN x =N y . Both and H are geometry dependent and do not provide an intrinsic measure of the relaxation. These results are confirmed by both resonance and transient response experiments. The large values of for large angle switching may also be partially explained by this analysis because the relevant magnetization motion is due to a demagnetizing field normal to the film plane.Visiting scientist on leave fromRaytheon Company, U.S.A. For the Ising model with nearest neighbour interaction it is shown that the spin correlations A B - A B decrease exponentially asd(A, B) in a pure phase when the temperature is well belowT c. This is used to prove that the free energyF(,h) is infinitely differentiable in and has one sided derivatives inh of all orders forh=0. The bounds are also used to prove that the central limit theorem holds for several variables such as e.g. the total energy and the total magnetization of the system, the limit distribution being gaussian with variances determined by the second derivatives ofF(,h).  相似文献

For automorphism groups of operator algebras we show how properties of the difference t – ' t are reflected in relations between the generators , . Indeed for a von Neumann algebraM with separable predual we show that if t – 't 0.28 for smallt, then = 0(+)°-1 where is an inner automorphism ofM and is a bounded derivation ofM. If the difference t – ' t =O(t) ast ; 0, then = + and if t – ' t 0.28 for allt then =. We prove analogous results for unitary groups on a Hilbert space andC 0,C 0 * groups on a Banach space. This paper subsumes an earlier work of the same title which appeared as a report from Z.I.F. der Universität BielefeldWith partial support of the U.S. National Science Foundation  相似文献

LetH l be the Hamiltonian in aP()2 theory with sharp space cutoff in the interval (–l/2,l/2). LetE l =inf(H l ), (l)=–E l /l, and let l be the vacuum forH l . discuss properties of (l) and l . In particular, asl, there are finite constants <0 and such that (l), ((l)–)l, and hence (l)=+/l+o(l –1). Moreover exp(–c 1 l) l 1exp(–c 2 l) forc 1,c 2 positive constants, where l 1 is theL 1(Q, d0) norm of 1 with respect to the Fock vacuum measure. The2H(d, )4He differential cross section was measured at deuteron laboratory energies of 20, 24, and 28 MeV between cm=45° and cm=135°. AtE d =28 MeV a complete angular distribution was determined and fitted with Legendre polynomials. The ratioR=d/d (cm=90°)/d/d (cm=135°) was measured for each deuteron energy.  相似文献

The magnetic after-effect caused by the diffusion of electrons was studied in detail in MnMg ferrites of the series Mg x Mn1.15–x Fe1.85O4+ ; the comparative measurements were also carried out on a sample of MgFe2O4+(<0). By combining the two methods, (a) investigation of the disaccommodation of initial permeability at different temperatures and (b) measurement of the displacement of the maximum of the temperature dependence tan with the frequency, it was possible to study the relaxation processes whose time constants lay between 0.5 sec and several hours, or between 10–4 to 10–7 sec. It was found that the processes taking place at low temperatures and studied by method (a) differ from those observed at high temperatures by method (b), particularly in the lower activation energies and greater dispersion of the time constants. In addition to these two main relaxation processes a weak relaxation superposed over the main disaccommodation was found in ferrites with non-zero content of manganese. An analysis of the intensity of different relaxation effects showed the participation of Mn ions in these relaxation effects and it was found that both main relaxations are probably equivalent as regards the final steady state, to the creation of which they lead; they differ however in the mechanism of electron diffusion by which this state is realized. The main features of the different diffusion mechanisms are discussed.

The spin-two particle is described by a symmetric tensorh subject to the subsidiary conditionsh = h =0. Their covariant generalization and the wave equation have been obtained directly from the Eulerian variational equations by algebraic methods only. In addition to the tensor fieldh a symmetric third-rank tensor = as well as a vector fieldA have been added, neither of which enter in the final result. The Lagrangian function is taken as a linear sum of all combinations which can be constructed from these functions, as well as terms involving the curvature tensor and its two possible contractions. Variation with respect toh , andA independently gives the Euler equations. Combining the various trace equations and choice of arbitrary constants yields the subsidiary conditions, while the Euler equations themselves give the connection between the auxiliary functions and the tensorh as well as the generalization of the wave equationD D h + 2R h -R h -R h +g R h +Rh =m 2 h Finally, variation with respect tog yields the energy-momentum tensor.  相似文献

We motivate the definition of the Einstein 3-form G by means of the contracted 2nd Bianchi identity. This definition contains the whole curvature 2-form. The L 1-form, defined via G = L *( ) ( is the Hodge-star, the coframe), is equivalent to the Einstein 3-form and contains all the information of the curvature 2-form relevant for the definition of the Einstein 3-form. A variational formula of Salgado on quadratic invariants of the L 1-form is discussed, generalized, and put into proper perspective.  相似文献

Let H be a semibounded perturbation of the Laplacian H 0 in L 2( d ). For an admissible function sufficient conditions are given for the completeness of the scattering system (H), (H 0). If is the exponential function and if eH is an integral operator we denote the kernel of the difference D = eH – eH 0 by D (x, y), > 0. The singularly continuous spectrum of H is empty ifd dx d dy |D(x,y)| (1 + |y|2)< for some > 1. This result is applied to potential perturbations and to perturbations by imposing Dirichlet boundary conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the following improved Vitali–Hahn–Saks measure convergence theorem: Let (L, 0, 1) be a Boolean algebra with the sequential completeness property, (G, ) be an Abelian topological group, be a nonnegative finitely additive measure defined on L, {n: n N} be a sequence of finitely additive s-bounded G-valued measures defined on L, too. If for each a L, {n(a)}n N is a -convergent sequence, for each nN, when { (a)} convergent to 0, {n(a)} is -convergent, then when { (a)} convergent to 0, {n(a)} are -convergent uniformly with respect to nN  相似文献

In this paper we concern ourselves with the small asymptotics of the inner products of the eigenfunctions of a Schrödinger-type operator with a coherent state. More precisely, let j and E j denote the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of a Schrödinger-type operator H with discrete spectrum. Let (x,) be a coherent state centered at the point (x, ) in phase space. We estimate as 0 the averages of the squares of the inner products ( a (x,) , j ) over an energy interval of size around a fixed energy, E. This follows from asymptotic expansions of the form for certain test function and Schwartz amplitudes a of the coherent state. We compute the leading coefficient in the expansion, which depends on whether the classical trajectory through (x, ) is periodic or not. In the periodic case the iterates of the trajectory contribute to the leading coefficient. We also discuss the case of the Laplacian on a compact Riemannian manifold.Research supported in part by NSF grant DMS-9303778  相似文献

The finite-size shift of the critical temperature is calculated by the example of the spherical model, with short- and long-range interactions, confined to the general geometryL d–d × d subject to periodic boundary conditions. The derived formula unifies in some sense all results found up to now.  相似文献
