Flow coefficients ν(n) for n=2, 3, 4, characterizing the anisotropic collective flow in Au+Au collisions at √s(NN)=200 GeV, are measured relative to event planes Ψ(n), determined at large rapidity. We report ν(n) as a function of transverse momentum and collision centrality, and study the correlations among the event planes of different order n. The ν(n) are well described by hydrodynamic models which employ a Glauber Monte Carlo initial state geometry with fluctuations, providing additional constraining power on the interplay between initial conditions and the effects of viscosity as the system evolves. This new constraint can serve to improve the precision of the extracted shear viscosity to entropy density ratio η/s.  相似文献

We report transverse momentum (p(T)≤15 GeV/c) spectra of π(±), K(±), p, p[over ˉ], K(S)(0), and ρ(0) at midrapidity in p+p and Au+Au collisions at √S(NN)=200 GeV. Perturbative QCD calculations are consistent with π(±) spectra in p+p collisions but do not reproduce K and p(p[over ˉ]) spectra. The observed decreasing antiparticle-to-particle ratios with increasing p(T) provide experimental evidence for varying quark and gluon jet contributions to high-p(T) hadron yields. The relative hadron abundances in Au+Au at p(T)?8 GeV/c are measured to be similar to the p+p results, despite the expected Casimir effect for parton energy loss.  相似文献

We report new STAR measurements of midrapidity yields for the Λ, Λ[over ˉ], K(S)(0), Ξ(-), Ξ[over ˉ](+), Ω(-), Ω[over ˉ](+) particles in Cu+Cu collisions at √S(NN)==200 GeV, and midrapidity yields for the Λ, Λ[over ˉ], K(S)(0) particles in Au+Au at √S(NN)==200 GeV. We show that, at a given number of participating nucleons, the production of strange hadrons is higher in Cu+Cu collisions than in Au+Au collisions at the same center-of-mass energy. We find that aspects of the enhancement factors for all particles can be described by a parametrization based on the fraction of participants that undergo multiple collisions.  相似文献

The transverse momentum spectra for identified hadrons at different rapidities in central Au+Au collisions at √^SNN= 200 GeV are studied in a quark combination model. The results for PT spectra of π^±, K^±, p(p^-) and for the p/π ratios in a broader PT range at midrapidity agree well with the data. The transverse momentum spectra of pions, protons and antiprotons at various rapidities y - 1, η= 2.2 and y ≈ 3.2 are calculated and compared with the data.  相似文献

PHENIX Collaboration and STAR Collaboration data on the intercept parameter of the two-pion Bose-Einstein correlation functions in √ s{NN}=200 GeV Au+Au collisions are analyzed in terms of different models of hadronic multiplicities. To describe this combined PHENIX and STAR data set, an in-medium η' mass reduction of at least 200 MeV is needed, at the 99.9% confidence level in the considered model class. Such a significant η' mass modification may indicate the restoration of the U{A}(1) symmetry in a hot and dense hadronic matter and the return of the 9th "prodigal" Goldstone boson.  相似文献

Using the Glauber model, we discuss the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions in heavy-ion collisions. Based on the latter, after considering the effect of energy loss of the nucleons in multiple collisions, we derive the pseudorapidity distribution of the multiplicity as a function of the impact parameter in nucleus-nucleus collisions. Using this, we analyze the experimental measurements carried out by the BRAHMS Collaboration in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=200GeV. The results are in good agreement with the experimental observations.  相似文献

The PHOBOS Collaboration has measured transverse momentum distributions of charged hadrons produced in Cu+Cu collisions at √s NN =200 and 62.4 GeV. The nuclear modification factor R AA N part is calculated relative to p+p data at both collision energies as a function of collision centrality. For the same number of participating nucleons, R AA N part is essentially the same in both systems over the full range of p Tthat is measured. In addition, we observe that within experimental uncertainties, the ratio of 200 GeV to 62.4 GeV Cu+Cu yields has only a moderate centrality dependence and is consistent with the value previously measured in Au+Au collisions for a broad range of p T.  相似文献

The strong suppression of high pT hadrons observed at RHIC has led to the interpretation that energetic partons lose their energy via induced gluon radiation in the hot and dense matter before fragmenting into hadrons. The study of heavy quark production can extend our understanding of this scenario. Due to the dead cone effect, the suppression of heavy quark mesons at high pT is expected to be smaller than that observed for charged hadrons at the same energy. The measurement of non-photonic single electrons up to high pT provides information on charm and beauty production. The semi-leptonic decays of D and B mesons are the dominant contribution to the non-photonic electron spectra. The preliminary spectra from p+p, d+Au and Au+Au collisions at  =200 GeV have been extracted for mid-rapidity non-photonic electrons in the range 1.5<pT (GeV/c)<10. The corresponding nuclear modification factors (RAA) are presented and show a large suppression in central Au+Au collisions, indicating an unexpectedly large energy loss for heavy quarks in the hot and dense matter created at RHIC. This observed suppression is compared to recent theoretical models. PACS  13.85.Qk; 13.20.Fc; 13.20.He; 25.75.Dw  相似文献

The A N DY project at RHIC was proposed to measure the analyzing power for Drell-Yan production. Test runs took place during polarized proton operations of RHIC in 2011 and 2012 with a model of the A N DY apparatus in place. In total, an integrated luminosity of 9 pb?1 with beam polarization of 50% was sampled. The primary detector components were a hadron calorimeter (HCal) that spanned the pseudorapidity interval 2.4 < η < 4.0 and a small electromagnetic calorimeter (ECal). Basic goals for A N DY test running were to establish the impact of a third interaction region on RHIC performance and to demonstrate HCal calibration. Energy scale of HCal was established using neutral pion reconstruction and checked with hadronic response. In addition, data with a trigger based on HCal energy sum were taken to study jet events. First measurements of analyzing power in the forward jet production are reported.  相似文献

A novel type of quantum mechanical correlations, hypothesized in the 1990’s, the (squeezed) back-to-back correlations, was predicted to appear in heavy ion collisions among particle-antiparticle (eg. π+π, K + K , p[`(p)]p\bar p) pairs, if their in-medium masses are different from the vacuum values. Observation of this correlation would provide new insight in the freeze-out dynamics of the created matter. The latest status of the PHENIX measurement, comprising the first measurement of this new effect, is presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we calculate the decay rates of the D +D 0 e + ν, D S +D 0 e + ν, , D S +D + e e + and B S 0B 0 e e + semileptonic decay processes, in which only the light quarks decay, while the heavy flavors remain unchanged. The branching ratios of these decay processes are calculated with the flavor SU(3) symmetry. The uncertainties are estimated by considering the SU(3) breaking effect. We find that the decay rates are very tiny in the framework of the standard model. We also estimate the sensitivities of the measurements of these rare decays at future experiments, such as BES-III, super-B and LHC-b.  相似文献

We present measurements of J/ψ yields in d+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV recorded by the PHENIX experiment and compare them with yields in p+p collisions at the same energy per nucleon-nucleon collision. The measurements cover a large kinematic range in J/ψ rapidity (-2.2相似文献

Results are presented of an ongoing analysis of direct photon production in  =200 GeV deuteron-gold collisions (d+Au) with the STAR experiment at RHIC. A significant excess of direct photons is observed near mid-rapidity (0<y<1) and found to be consistent with next-to-leading order pQCD calculations including the contribution from fragmentation photons. We reanalyze the production of single photons in S + Au collisions at CERN SPS to investigate: (i) the consequences of using a much richer equation of state for hadrons than the one used in an earlier study by us, and (ii) to see if the recent estimates of photon production in quark matter (at two-loop level) by Aurenche, et al. are consistent with the upper limit of the photon production measured by the WA80 group. We find that the data are consistent with a quark–hadron phase transition. The data are also consistent with a scenario where no phase transition takes place, but where the hadronic matter reaches a density of several hadrons per unit volume, which is rather unphysical. Partonic effects on two-particle transverse momentum correlations are studied for Au+Au collisions at \sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=130GeV in the Monte Carlo model, AMPT. This study demonstrates that in these collisions partonic interactions contribute significantly to the correlations. Additionally, model calculations are compared with data of the two-particle transverse momentum correlations measured by the STAR Collaboration at RHIC, and it is found that AMPT with string melting can well reproduce the measured centrality dependence of the two-particle transverse momentum correlations in Au+Au collisions at \sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=130GeV.  相似文献

The contribution of B meson decays to nonphotonic electrons, which are mainly produced by the semileptonic decays of heavy-flavor mesons, in p + p collisions at √s=200 GeV has been measured using azimuthal correlations between nonphotonic electrons and hadrons. The extracted B decay contribution is approximately 50% at a transverse momentum of pT≥5 GeV/c. These measurements constrain the nuclear modification factor for electrons from B and D meson decays. The result indicates that B meson production in heavy ion collisions is also suppressed at high pT.  相似文献
