The DC Josephson effect in ferromagnetic superconductors is theoretically studied in the presence of external magnetic fields. In addition to the usual term for the Josephson tunneling current, a new term expressing the pair tunneling current induced by the magnetization appears. The amplitude and period of the Fraunhofer pattern of the maximum Josephson current drastically diminish near the phase transition temperature for the magnetization bound around the junction.  相似文献

Based on the scattering theory, we calculate the Josephson current in a junction between two ferromagnetic superconductors as a function of the interface potential z. We consider the ferromagnetic superconductor(FS) in three different Cooper pairing states: spin singlet s-wave pairing(SWP) state, spin triplet opposite spin pairing(OSP) state, and spin triplet equal spin pairing(ESP) state. We find that the critical Josephson current as a function of z shows clear differences among the SWP, OSP, and ESP states. The obtained results can be used as a useful tool for determining the pair symmetry of the ferromagnetic superconductors.  相似文献

We study the Andreev bound states in a Josephson junction between a singlet and a triplet superconductors. Because of the mismatch in the spin symmetries of pairing, the energies of the spin-up and -down quasiparticles are generally different. This results in imbalance of spin populations and net spin accumulation at the junction in equilibrium. This effect can be detected using probes of local magnetic field, such as the scanning SQUID, Hall, and Kerr probes. It may help to identify potential triplet pairing in (TMTSF)2X, Sr2RuO4, and oxypnictides.  相似文献

We consider a model for a single molecule with a large frozen spin sandwiched in between two BCS superconductors at equilibrium, and show that this system has a π junction behavior at low temperature. The π shift can be reversed by varying the other parameters of the system, e.g., temperature or the position of the quantum dot level, implying a controllable π junction with novel application as a Josephson current switch. We show that the mechanism leading to the π shift can be explained simply in terms of the contributions of the Andreev bound states and of the continuum of states above the superconducting gap. The free energy for certain configuration of parameters shows a bistable nature, which is a necessary pre-condition for achievement of a qubit.  相似文献

The Josephson current between d-wave superconductors is investigated in the framework of the tight-binding lattice model. The junction is modeled by a small number of connecting bonds. It is found that the Josephson current through one bond vanishes when at least one of the superconductors has the (110) interface-to-crystal orientation. Interference between the nearest bonds appears to be very important. In particular, it is the interference term that leads to the nonzero Josephson current for the (110) orientation. Also, interference of two connecting bonds manifests itself in nonmonotonic behavior of the critical Josephson current in a dependence on the distance between the bonds. In this paper, a dc Josephson junction between borocarbide superconductors has been studied theoretically. The s+g-wave pairing symmetry which is observed in rare earth complex of borocarbides has a huge anisotropy and is an interesting form of unconventional superconductivity. We calculate the Josephson current in a superconductor--insulator--superconductor (SIS) Josephson junction with s+g-wave superconducting pairing symmetry. In our planar junction c-axis is parallel to an interface with finite transparency but ab-planes of two tetragonal superconductors are misorientated by angle α. We obtain that the Josephson current is strongly dependent on mis-orientation between the left and the right ab-planes. An insulator sandwiched between two superconductors which acts as a potential barrier is demonstrated by a transparency coefficient. The effects of the potential barrier and the mis-orientation on the current are studied analytically and numerically. Occurrence of 0--π transition in this s+g-wave junction is investigated in this paper. A comparison between d-wave Josephson junction and s+g-wave one is also made in the present paper.  相似文献

We extend the circuit theory of superconductivity to cover transport and proximity effect in mesoscopic systems that contain unconventional superconductor junctions. The approach fully accounts for zero-energy Andreev bound states forming at the surface of unconventional superconductors. As a simple application, we investigate the transport properties of a diffusive normal metal in series with a d-wave superconductor junction. We reveal the competition between the formation of Andreev bound states and proximity effect that depends on the crystal orientation of the junction interface.  相似文献

A motion of slow and fast vortices in a waveguide-coupled Josephson junction induced by a transport current flowing through the entire structure is studied; the coupling is not assumed to be weak. For a fast vortex, conditions are established under which current oscillations due to energy dissipation via Cherenkov radiation of Swihart waves become comparable to the current compensating for ohmic losses in the Josephson junction, waveguide, and adjacent superconductors. For a slow vortex, it is proved that intermediate and strong couplings of the Josephson junction to the waveguide shift current oscillations to the velocity range below the Swihart velocity of the Josephson junction.  相似文献

We propose a new type of Josephson junction formed by two superconductors close to the superconductor-Mott-insulator transition, one of which is doped with holes and the other is doped with electrons. A self-organized Mott-insulating depletion region is formed at the interface between two superconductors, giving rise to an asymmetric response of current to the external voltage. The collective excitations of the depletion region result in a novel phase dynamics that can be measured experimentally in the noise spectrum of the Josephson current.  相似文献

A junction between two topological superconductors containing a pair of Majorana fermions exhibits a "fractional" Josephson effect, 4π periodic in the superconductors' phase difference. An additional fractional Josephson effect, however, arises when the Majorana fermions are spatially separated by a superconducting barrier. This new term gives rise to a set of Shapiro steps which are essentially absent without Majorana modes and therefore provides a unique signature for these exotic states.  相似文献

A weak link of two superconductors with s-type pairing through a ferromagnet has been theoretically investigated in the regime of a nonequilibrium spin-dependent distribution of electrons over energy levels in a ferromagnetic interlayer. It has been shown that, under the given conditions, the triplet component of the supercurrent-carrying density of states, which does not participate in the Josephson current transfer under equilibrium and spin-independent nonequilibrium conditions, is involved in the Josephson current transfer through the junction. In this case, the standard supercurrent transferred by the singlet component of the supercurrent-carrying density of states remains unchanged as compared to the case of the equilibrium distribution of electrons in the interlayer. An additional current transferred by the triplet component is controlled by a voltage that controls the specific shape and the degree of nonequilibrium of the electron distribution function in the interlayer. Depending on this controlling parameter, the additional current can substantially amplify or attenuate the standard supercurrent and also switch the junction between 0 and π states.  相似文献

The Josephson junction containing localized magnetic moments in a dielectric layer between two superconductors is considered. Conditions are studied under which the phase difference between superconductors in the state with energy minimum is equal to π (such a junction we call π-junction). In addition we consider “one-dimensional” Josephson junction one part (2) of which is π-junction, the other (1) being the usual Josephson junction ( 0 - junction). Conditions are found under which in such a system there is a spontaneous vortex with the centre at the boundary between the parts 1 and 2 and magnetic flux associated with this vortex. The vortex appears by second order phase transition as temperature decreases for Tc.  相似文献

A Josephson current through a half-metallic ferromagnet between two conventional superconductors is theoretically studied. The spin dynamics such as magnon excitation plays a crucial role not only for the conversion between spin-singlet and spin-triplet pairs but also for the formation of the composite state of a triplet Cooper pair and magnon, by which the Josephson current flows between the superconductors. We propose the supercurrent pumping driven by the coherent precession of the magnetization by tuning the microwave frequency to the ferromagnetic resonance frequency in a ferromagnetic Josephson junction.  相似文献

A model for the quantum measurement of the electronic current in a Josephson junction is presented and analyzed. The model is similar to a Stern-Gerlach apparatus, relying on the deflection of a spin-polarized particle beam by the magnetic field created by the Josephson current. The aim is (1) to explore, with the help of a simple model, some general ideas about the nature of the information which can be obtained by measurements upon a quantum system and (2) to find new approaches for obtaining information about the nature of the states of a macroscopic quantum system. In the case of sufficiently strong coupling between the system and the apparatus, we find that the model provides in principle a standard ideal measurement of the value of the instantaneous Josephson current. In the case of weak coupling, where the measurement is not ideal, we show that the scattering of neutrons from a junction can in principle be used to measure the average value of the Josephson current, thereby allowing an experimental distinction to be made between an eigenstate of relative phase and one of relative Cooper pair number. The possibility of the latter type of measurement suggests an experimental approach to answer a question of fundamental interest, namely whether two isolated superconductors (or superfluids) possess a definite relative phase or a definite relative number of superconducting (or super/lowing) particles.  相似文献

We report a theoretical study on spin transport in the hybrid Josephson junction composed of singlet s-wave and triplet p-wave superconductor. The node of the triplet pair potential is considered perpendicular to the interface of the junction. Based on a symmetry analysis, we predict that there is no net spin density at the interface of the junction but instead a transverse mode-resolved spin density can exist and a nonzero spin current can flow transversely along the interface of the junction. The predictions are numerically demonstrated by means of the lattice Matsubara Green's function method. It is also shown that, when a normal metal is sandwiched in between two superconductors, both spin current and transverse mode-resolved spin density are only residing at two interfaces due to the smearing effect of the multimode transport. Our findings are useful for identifying the pairing symmetry of the p-wave superconductor and generating spin current.  相似文献

Recent studies on high- Tcsuperconductors aroused our new interest on the Josephson effects in anisotropic superconductors. In contrast to the conventional s-wave superconductors, there are two additional intrinsic effects originating from an internal phase of the pair potential. One is the sign change of the Josephson current depending on the direction of the motion of the Cooper pair. The other is the formation of localized states near the insulator. By taking account of these two effects, a general formula for the Josephson current is presented. Calculated results predict several anomalous properties including a strong enhancement of the Josephson current at low temperature. The influences of the spatial dependence of the pair potential on the Josephson current are also clarified.  相似文献

We calculate the dc Josephson current for two superconductor/ferromagnet (S/F) bilayers separated by a thin insulating film. It is demonstrated that the critical Josephson current I(c) in the junction strongly depends on the relative orientation of the effective exchange field h of the bilayers. We found that in the case of an antiparallel orientation I(c) increases at low temperatures with increasing h and at zero temperature has a singularity when h equals the superconducting gap Delta. This striking behavior contrasts with the suppression of the critical current by the magnetic moments aligned in parallel and is an interesting new effect of the interplay between superconductors and ferromagnets.  相似文献

We investigate the Andreev tunneling and Josephson current in graphene irradiated with high-frequency linearly polarized light. The corresponding stroboscopic dynamics can be solved using Floquet mechanism which results in an effective stationary theory to the problem exhibiting an anisotropic Dirac spectrum and modified pseudospin-momentum locking. When applied to an irradiated normal graphene - superconductor (NS) interface, such analysis reveal Andreev reflection (AR) to become an oscillatory function of the optical strength. Specifically we find that, by varying the polarization direction we can both suppress AR considerably or cause the Andreev transport to remain maximum at sub-gap excitation energies even in the presence of Fermi level mismatch. Furthermore, we study the optical effect on the Andreev bound states (ABS) within a short normal-graphene sheet, sandwiched between two s-wave superconductors. It shows redistribution of the low energy regime in the ABS spectrum, which in turn, has major effect in shaping the Josephson super-current. Subjected to efficient tuning, such current can be sufficiently altered even at the charge neutrality point. Our observations provide useful feedback in regulating the quantum transport in Dirac-like systems, achieved via controlled off-resonant optical irradiation on them.  相似文献
