The structures, stability and vibrational spectra of the binary complexes CH4...HONO-trans and CH4...HONO-cis have been investigated using ab initio calculations at the SCF and MP2 levels with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set and B3LYP calculations with 6-31G(d,p) and 6-31+G(d,p) basis sets. Full geometry optimization was made for the complexes studied. It was established that the complex CH4...HONO-trans is more stable by 0.41 kcal mol(-1) than the complex CH4...HONO-cis. The accuracy of the ab initio calculations have been estimated by comparison between the predicted values of the vibrational characteristics (vibrational frequencies and infrared intensities) and the available experimental data. It was established, that the methods, used in this study are well adapted to the problem under examination. The predicted values with the B3LYP calculations are very near to the results, obtained with 6-311++G(d,p)/MP2. The changes in the vibrational characteristics of methane and trans-, cis-nitrous acid upon formation of the hydrogen bond show that the complexes CH4...HONO-trans and CH4...HONO-cis have geometry in which the OH group interacts with a methane molecule forming a single hydrogen bond. This fact is confirmed by relatively strong perturbation of the OH stretching vibration to lower frequencies and an increase of the infrared intensity of this vibration up to three times upon hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

The complexes formed by ethene with nitric and nitrous (trans and cis) acids have been investigated by ab initio (SCF and MP2) and B3LYP calculations with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. Full geometry optimisation has been performed for the complexes studied. The most stable structures of the complexes are established. Bearing in mind the corrected values of the dissociation energy the studied hydrogen-bonded complexes can be ordered as follows: C(2)H(4)...HONO(2)>C(2)H(4)...HONO-trans>C(2)H(4)...HONO-cis. In the complexes the acids act as proton donors forming the pi-type of hydrogen bond with ethene. The predicted changes in the vibrational characteristics (vibrational frequencies and infrared intensities) arising from the hydrogen bonding are in good agreement with the experimentally measured. The predicted frequency shift of the stretching OH vibration in the nitric acid is largest (-210 cm(-1)), followed by the shifts in the trans-HONO (-141 cm(-1)) and cis-HONO (-109 cm(-1)). The calculations predict an increase of the IR intensity of the stretching O-H vibration in the complexes from 6 to 10 times.  相似文献

The structure, stability and vibrational spectrum of the binary complex between HONO2 and H2O have been investigated using ab initio calculations at SCF and MP2 levels with different basis sets and B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) calculations. Full geometry optimization was made for the complex studied. It was established that the hydrogen-bonded H2O...HONO2 complex has a planar structure. The corrected values of the dissociation energy at the SCF and MP2 levels and B3LYP calculations are indicative of relatively strong OH...O hydrogen-bonded interaction. The changes in the vibrational characteristics (vibrational frequencies and infrared intensities) arising from the hydrogen bonding between HONO2 and H2O have been estimated by using the ab initio calculations at SCF and MP2 levels and B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) calculations. It was established that the most sensitive to the complexation is the stretching O-H vibration from HONO2. In agreement with the experiment, its vibrational frequency in the complex is shifted to lower wavenumbers. The predicted frequency shift with the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) calculations (-439 cm(-1)) is in the best agreement with the experimentally measured (-498 cm(-1)). The intensity of this vibration increases dramatically upon hydrogen bonding. The ab initio calculations at the SCF level predict an increase up to five times; at the MP2 level up to 10 times and the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) predicted increase is up to 17 times. The good agreement between the predicted values of the frequency shifts and those experimentally observed show that the structure of the hydrogen-bonded complex H2O...HONO2 is reliable.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations are performed at the MP2/6-311++G(d,p) and DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) theoretical levels to obtain geometries, H-bond energies and harmonic infrared vibrational properties for the Cs symmetry structures of heterocyclic hydrogen-bonded complexes, CnHmY-HX. The H-bond lengths in DFT/B3LYP calculation level are in better agreement with the experimental values than the MP2 results. The geometry optimization are interpreted in terms of hydrogen bond nonlinearity represented by theta; and phi angles, once the hydrogen bond is formed among n-electrons pairs of the heteroatom in heterocyclic and the hydrogen atom in HX. The hydrogen bond energy after of the zero-point vibrational energy (ZPE) and basis set superposition error (BSSE) corrections are overestimated at DFT/B3LYP, whereas the MP2 BSSE corrections are very large than corresponding DFT/B3LYP. For example, the BSSE corrections for the C2H4S-HNC complex are 7.60 and 0.09 kJ mol(-1) in MP2 and DFT/B3LYP calculations levels, respectively. The new vibrational modes in infrared harmonic spectrum arising from complexation show several interesting features, especially the intermolecular stretching mode.  相似文献

The infrared (3200-30 cm(-1) spectra of gaseous and solid, the Raman spectra (3200-30 cm(-1)) of the liquid and solid vinyl silyl bromide, CH2CHSiH2Br, have been recorded. Additionally, quantitative depolarization values have been obtained. Both the gauche and cis conformers have been identified in the fluid phases but only the gauche conformer remains in the solid. Variable temperature studies from 0 to -87 degrees C of the Raman spectrum of the liquid was carried out. From these data, the enthalpy difference has been determined to be 22 +/- 6 cm(-1) (0.26 +/- 0.08 kJ/mol), with the gauche conformer being the more stable form. The predictions from the ab initio calculations up to MP2/6-311 + + G(2d,2p) basis set favor the gauche as the more stable form. A complete vibrational assignment is proposed for both the gauche and cis conformers based on infrared band contours, relative intensities, depolarization values and group frequencies. The vibrational assignments are supported by normal coordinate calculations utilizing the force constants from ab initio MP2/6-31G(d) calculations and the potential energy terms for the conformer interconversion have been obtained from the same calculations. Complete equilibrium geometries have been determined for both rotamers by ab initio calculations employing a variety of basis sets up to 6-311 + + G(2d,2p) at levels of restricted Hartree-Fock (RHF) and/or Moller-Plesset (MP) to second order. The results are discussed and compared to those obtained for some similar molecules.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations of the structural, energetic, vibrational, and magnetic characteristics of the lowest-lying structures for isolated molecules and ions of light-metal tetrahydroborates (Li, Na, Be, Mg, and Al) have been performed by the perturbation theory (MP2), quadratic configuration interaction (QCISD(T)), coupled cluster (CCSD(T)), and density functional theory (B3LYP) methods using the 6-31G*, 6-31G**, 6-311+G**, and 6-311++G** basis sets. The trends in the behavior of the structural parameters, the energies of different decomposition pathways, barriers to internal rotation of BH4 groups, normal mode frequencies, magnetic shielding constants, and spin density distribution (in radicals) have been analyzed in various related series of these compounds. The results obtained by ab initio methods and at the DFT level are compared. The economical approximation B3LYP/6-311++G**//B3LYP/6-311+G** adequately reproduces the results obtained at the higher level of theory CCSD(T)/6-311++G*s*//MP2/6-31G* even though it requires considerably shorter CPU times and smaller amounts of memory.  相似文献

Fourier-transform Raman and infrared spectra of 2-nitroanisole are recorded (4000-100 cm(-1)) and interpreted by comparison with respective theoretical spectra calculated using HF and DFT method. The geometrical parameters with C(S) symmetry, harmonic vibrational frequencies, infrared and Raman scattering intensities are determined using HF/6-311++G (d, p), B3LYP/6-311+G (d, p), B3LYP/6-311++G (d, p) and B3PW91/6-311++G (d, p) level of theories. A detailed vibrational spectral analysis has been carried out and assignments of the observed fundamental bands have been proposed on the basis of peak positions and relative intensities. The results of the calculations have been used to simulate IR and Raman spectra for the molecule that showed good agreement with the observed spectra. The SQM method, which implies multiple scaling of the DFT force fields has been shown superior to the uniform scaling approach. The vibrational frequencies and the infrared intensities of the C-H modes involved in back-donation and conjugation are also investigated.  相似文献

The infrared (3200-30 cm(-1) spectra of gaseous and solid and the Raman spectra of liquid (3200-30 cm(-1), with quantitative depolarization values, and solid vinyldichlorosilane, CH2=CHSiHCl2, have been recorded. Both the gauche and the cis conformers have been identified in the fluid phases. Variable temperature (105-150 degrees C) studies of the infrared spectra of the sample dissolved in liquid krypton have been carried out. From these data the enthalpy difference has been determined to be 20 +/- 5 cm(-1) (235 +/- 59 J mol(-1) with the gauche conformer the more stable rotamer. It was not possible to obtain a single conformer in the solid even with repeated annealing of the sample. The experimental enthalpy difference is in agreement with the prediction from MP2/6-311 + G(2d,2p) ab initio calculations with full electron correlation. However, when smaller basis sets, i.e. 6-31G(d) and 6-311 + G(d,p) were utilized the cis conformer was predicted to be the more stable form. Complete vibrational assignments are proposed for both conformers based on infrared contours, relative infrared and Raman intensities, depolarization values and group frequencies, which are supported by normal coordinate calculations utilizing the force constants from ab initio MP2/6-31G(d) calculations. From the frequencies of the Si-H stretches, the Si-H bond distance of 1.474 A has been determined for both the gauche and the cis conformers. Complete equilibrium geometries have been determined for both rotamers by ab initio calculations employing the 6-31G(d), 6-311 + G(d,p) and 6-311 + (2d,2p) basis sets at level of Hartree-Fock (RHF) and/or Moller Plesset to the second order (MP2) with full electron correlation. The potential energy terms for the conformer interconversion have been obtained from the MP2/6-31G(d) calculations. The results are discussed and compared with those obtained for some similar molecules.  相似文献

The hydrogen bonding of 1:1 complexes formed between serine and water molecules were completely investigated in the present study employing ab initio and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods at varied basis set levels from 6‐31g to 6‐311++g (2d,2p). For comparison, we also used the second‐order Moller–Plesset Perturbation (MP2) method at the 6‐31+g(d) level. Twelve reasonable geometries on the potential energy hypersurface of serine and water system were considered with the global minimum, 10 of which are cyclic double‐hydrogen bonded structures and the other two are one‐hydrogen bonded structures. The optimized geometric parameters and interaction energies for various isomers at different levels were estimated. The infrared spectrum frequencies, IR intensities, and the vibrational frequency shifts are reported. Finally, the solvent effects on the geometries of the serine–water complexes were also investigated using self‐consistent reaction‐field (SCRF) calculations at the B3LYP/6‐311++g(d,p) level. The results indicate that the polarity of the solvent played an important role in the structures and relative stabilities of different isomers. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In an effort to elucidate their structures, mass-selected Cl--(CH4)n (n = 1-10) clusters are probed using infrared spectroscopy in the CH stretch region (2800-3100 cm(-1)). Accompanying ab initio calculations at the MP2/6-311++G(2df,2p) level for the n = 1-3 clusters suggest that methane molecules prefer to attach to the chloride anion by single linear H-bonds and sit adjacent to one another. These conclusions are supported by the agreement between experimental and calculated vibrational band frequencies and intensities. Infrared spectra in the CH stretch region for Cl--(CH4)n clusters containing up to ten CH4 ligands are remarkably simple, each being dominated by a single narrow peak associated with stretching motion of hydrogen-bonded CH groups. The observations are consistent with cluster structures in which at least ten equivalent methane molecules can be accommodated in the first solvation shell about a chloride anion.  相似文献

The Molecular structure, conformational stability and vibrational frequencies of succinonitrile NCCH2CH2CN have been investigated with ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) methods implementing the standard 6-311++G* basis set. The potential energy surfaces (PES) have been explored at DFT-B3LYP, HF and MP2 levels of theory. In agreements with previous experimental results, the molecule was predicted to exist in equilibrium mixture of trans and gauche conforms with the trans form being slightly lower in energy. The vibrational frequencies and the corresponding vibrational assignments of succinonitrile in both C2h and C2 symmetry were examined theoretically and the calculated Infrared and Raman spectra of the molecule were plotted. Observed frequencies for normal modes were compared with those calculated from normal mode coordinate analysis carried out on the basis of ab initio and DFT force fields using the standard 6-311++G* basis set of the theoretical optimized geometry. Theoretical IR intensities and Raman activities are reported.  相似文献

Variable temperature (-105 to -150 degrees C) studies of the infrared spectra (3500-400 cm(-1)) of ethylisothiocyanate, CH(3)CH(2)NCS, dissolved in liquid krypton have been recorded. Additionally the infrared spectra of the gas and solid have been re-investigated. These spectroscopic data indicate a single conformer in all physical states with a large number of molecules in the gas phase at ambient temperature in excited states of the CN torsional mode which has a very low barrier to conformational interchange. To aid in the analyses of the vibrational and rotational spectra, ab initio calculations have been carried out by the perturbation method to the second order (MP2) with valence and core electron correlation using a variety of basis sets up to 6-311+G(2df,2pd). With the smaller basis sets up to 6-311+G(d,p) and cc-PVDZ, the cis conformer is indicated as a transition state with all larger basis sets the cis conformer is the only stable form. The predicted energy difference from these calculations between the cis form and the higher energy trans conformer is about 125 cm(-1) which represents essentially the barrier to internal rotation of the NCS group (rotation around NC axis). Density functional theory calculation by the B3LYP method with the same basis sets predicts this barrier to be about 25 cm(-1). By utilizing the previously reported microwave rotational constants with the structural parameters predicted by the ab initio MP2(full)/6-311+G(d,p) calculations, adjusted r(0) structural parameters have been obtained for the cis form. The determined heavy atom parameters are: r(NC)=1.196(5), r(CS)=1.579(5), r(CN)=1.439(5), r(CC)=1.519(5)A for the distances and angles of angleCCN=112.1(5), angleCNC=146.2(5), angleNCS=174.0(5) degrees . The centrifugal distortion constants, dipole moments, conformational stability, vibrational frequencies, infrared intensities and Raman activities have been predicted from ab initio calculations and compared to experimental quantities when available. These results are compared to the corresponding quantities of some similar molecules.  相似文献

Infrared spectra (3500-50 cm(-1)) of gaseous and solid, and Raman spectrum (3500-30 cm(-1)) of liquid vinyldifluorosilane, CH(2)z.dbnd6;CHSiF(2)H, are reported. Both the cis and gauche rotamers have been identified in the fluid phases. From temperature-dependent FT-infrared spectra of krypton solutions, it is shown that the cis conformer is more stable than the gauche form by 119+/-12 cm(-1) (1.42+/-0.14 kJ mol(-1)). At ambient temperature there is 53+/-2% of the gauche conformer present. Complete vibrational assignments are provided for the cis conformer and several modes are identified for the gauche form. Harmonic force constants, fundamental frequencies, infrared intensities, and Raman activities have been obtained from MP2/6-31G(d) calculations with full electron correlation. The optimized geometries and conformational stabilities have also been obtained from ab initio MP2/6-31G(d), MP2/6-311+G(d,p), and MP2/6-311+G(2d,2p) calculations with full electron correlation as well as from density functional theory calculations (DFT) by the B3LYP method. The SiH bond distances (r(0)) of 1.472 and 1.471 A have been obtained for the cis and gauche conformers, respectively, from the silicon-hydrogen stretching frequencies. These results are compared to the corresponding quantities of the corresponding carbon analogue as well as with some similar molecules.  相似文献

The experimental and theoretical vibrational spectra of 3- and 4-pyridineboronic acids (abbreviated as p3 and p4) were studied. The Fourier transform Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectra of p3 and p4 molecules were recorded in the solid phase. The structural and spectroscopic analysis of the p3 and p4 acids were made by using density functional harmonic calculations. Both p3 and p4 only one form was most stable using B3LYP level with the 6-31G(d), 6-31G(d,p), 6-311G(d), 6-311G(d,p) and 6-311++G(d,p) basis sets. Selected experimental bands were assigned based on the scaled theoretical wavenumbers. Finally, geometric parameters, infrared and Raman bands and intensities were compared with experimental data of the molecules.  相似文献

The important stationary points on the potential energy surface of the reaction CH(3)O(2) + NO have been investigated using ab initio and density functional theory techniques. The optimizations were carried out at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) and MP2/6-311++G(d,p) levels of theory while the energetics have been refined using the G2MP2, G3//B3LYP, and CCSD(T) methodologies. The calculations allow the proper characterization of the transition state barriers that determine the fate of the nascent association conformeric minima of methyl peroxynitrite. The main products, CH(3)O + NO(2), are formed through either rearrangement of the trans-conformer to methyl nitrate and its subsequent dissociation or via the breaking of the peroxy bond of the cis-conformer to CH(3)O + NO(2) radical pair. The important consequences of the proposed mechanism are (a) the allowance on energetic grounds for nitrate formation parallel to radical propagation under favorable external conditions and (b) the confirmation of the conformational preference of the homolytic cleavage of the peroxy bond, discussed in previous literature.  相似文献

The infrared and Raman spectra of methyl, silyl, and germyl azide (XN3 where X=CH3, SiH3 and GeH3) have been predicted from ab initio calculations with full electron correlation by second order perturbation theory (MP2) and hybrid density function theory (DFT) by the B3LYP method with a variety of basis sets. These predicted data are compared to previously reported experimental data and complete vibrational assignments are provided for all three molecules. It is shown that several of the assignments recently proposed [J. Mol. Struct. (Theochem.) 434 (1998) 1] for methyl azide are not correct. Structural parameters for CH3N3 and GeH3N3 have been obtained by combining the previously reported microwave rotational constants with the ab initio MP2/6-311+G(d,p) predicted values. These "adjusted r0" parameters have very small uncertainties of +/-0.003 A for the XH distances and a maximum of +/-0.005 A for the heavy atom distances and +/-0.5 degrees for the angles. The predicted distance for the terminal NN bond which is nearly a triple bond is much better predicted by the B3LYP calculations, whereas the fundamental frequencies are better predicted by the scaled ab initio calculations. The results are discussed and compared to those obtained for some similar molecules.  相似文献

Conventional ab initio (RHF) and DFT-B3LYP level calculations in conjunction with a variety of basis sets have been used to investigate the variations in the bond lengths, dipole moment, rotational constant, quadruple coupling constants, infrared frequencies, IR intensities and rotational invariants of BrCCCN. Satisfactory agreements between the B3LYP and experimental values were found for bond lengths, rotational constant, dipole moment and all other parameters. All the calculated bond lengths are in good agreement with each other for a given method having the average standard deviations varying between ±0.005 Å at the B3LYP level. Harmonic vibrational frequencies obtained from the B3LYP calculations show good agreement with the available experimental data. The global atomic polar tensor charges, used for interpreting the IR intensities, of all the atoms of BrCCCN have been calculated at the RHF and B3LYP levels in conjunction with the 6-311g(d) and 6-311++g(d,p) basis sets. Linear regression analysis between calculated and experimental infrared frequencies as well as between IR intensities in a series of 15 similar type of nitrile compounds have been achieved at the B3LYP/6-311++g(d,p) level and gives linear regression coefficients 0.983 and 0.970 respectively. Finally, a number of linear relations were found between r(CN) bond lengths and GAPT charges, and GAPT charges on CHELPG and MK charges at the nitrogen atom for these molecules and proved to be producing satisfactory results at the B3LYP/6-311++g(d,p) level of calculations.  相似文献

Molecular structure and vibrational frequencies of carbamoyl azide NH2CO-NNN have been investigated with ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) methods. The molecular geometries for all the possible conformers of the molecule were optimized using DFT-B3LYP, DFT-BLYP and MP2 applying the standard 6-311++G** basis set. From the calculations, the molecule was predicted to exist predominantly in cis conformation with the cis-trans rotational barrier of about 7.91-9.10 kcal/mol depending on the level of theory applied. The vibrational frequencies and the corresponding vibrational assignments of carbamoyl azide in Cs symmetry were examined theoretically and the calculated Infrared and Raman spectra of the molecule in the cis conformation were plotted. Observed frequencies for normal modes were compare with those calculated from normal mode coordinate analysis carried out on the basis of ab initio and DFT force fields using the standard 6-311++G** basis set of the theoretical optimized geometry. Theoretical IR intensities and Raman activities are reported.  相似文献

Infrared and Raman spectra (3500-60 cm(-1)) of gas and/or liquid and solid 1-bromo-1-silacyclopentane (c-C4H8SiBrH) have been recorded and the vibrational data indicate the presence of a single conformer with no symmetry which is consistent with the twisted form. Ab initio calculations with a variety of basis sets up to MP2(full)/6-311+G(2df,2pd) predict the envelope-axial and envelope-equatorial conformers to be saddle points with nearly the same energies but approximately 900 cm(-1) (5.98 kJ/mol) lower in energy than the planar conformer. Density functional theory calculations by the B3LYP method predict slightly lower energies for the two envelope forms and considerably lower energy for the planar form compared to the MP2 predictions. By utilizing the MP2(full)/6-31G(d) calculations the force constants, frequencies, infrared intensities, band contours, Raman activities, and depolarization values have been obtained to support the vibrational assignment. Estimated r0 structural parameters have been obtained from adjusted MP2(full)/6-311+G(d,p) calculations. These experimental and theoretical results are compared to the corresponding quantities of some other five-membered rings.  相似文献
