Raman spectroscopy is a widely used method for the analysis of CVD diamond layers, because it enables to distinguish between different carbon phases, such as diamond, graphite, amorphous carbon and nanocrystalline carbon, which are all commonly present in CVD diamond films. A comparison of visible Raman spectroscopy and near-infrared Raman spectroscopy applied to CVD diamond layers on various substrates (Si, SiAlON, Au, Pd, Mo, W and cemented carbides) has been carried out with the result that visible Raman spectroscopy can be preferably used for characterizing the diamond quality, but for the detection of non-diamond carbon phases NIR-Raman spectroscopy exhibits certain advantages. The NIR-Raman spectra of diamond on silicon substrates are interfered by thermal activation of the Si.Dedicated to Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. J.F.K. Diamond is a promising candidate for bioapplications. Properties of hybridized DNA arrays on single-crystalline diamond are studied on a microscopic level by atomic force microscopy (AFM) in buffer solutions. Compact DNA layers in a thickness of 76 A are resolved by optimizing phase and height contrast in AFM. The height shows some long-range (30 nm) undulations of +/-5 A due to tip and DNA interactions. The axis of double helix DNA is oriented at about 36 degrees with respect to the diamond surface. DNA molecules can be removed by contact-mode AFM with forces >45 nN, indicating stronger DNA bonding than on gold substrates.  相似文献

Micro-cantilevers can be used as both sensors and actuators. In this work, the design, fabrication and characterization of piezoelectrically driven nano-crystalline diamond (NCD) cantilevers are reported Diamond films were grown on silicon (100) substrates by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MW-PECVD). Cantilevers are coated by DC pulsed piezoelectric with AlN films that is sandwiched between two metallic electrodes. The thicknesses of AlN and diamond layers are 1μm and 700nm, respectively. The influence on the electromechanical response of cantilevers length was studied. The motion of the electrically driven cantilevers is performed by measuring the evolution of the electrical impedance at the resonant frequencies that varies between 10 kHz and 130 kHz for the resonant mode.  相似文献

The influence of substrate surface preparation on diamond nucleation is a major topic in the investigation of CVD-diamond deposition. The substrate, polishing material, its grain size, and the resulting surface roughness all influence diamond nucleation. Diamond can nucleate at scratches or residues of the polishing process which are providing nucleation sites. In this paper the surface of molybdenum and substrates polished with SiC and diamond powder was studied by imaging (2- and 3-dimensional) secondary ion mass spectrometry. The distribution and grain size of polishing residues (SiC, diamond) were determined and the reaction of diamond with the substrate during heating to deposition temperature was investigated. In this case a laterally inhomogeneous system of carbon containing species had to be characterized. Therefore compound-specific secondary ion mass spectrometry had to be performed. The results suggested that diamond residues on molybdenum substrates are partly dissolved during the heat treatment. The measurements indicate that a fraction of the diamond residues is still present after heat treatment and can provide nucleation sites for diamond deposition.  相似文献

Hybrid three-dimensional electrodes produced from microcrystalline boron-doped diamond (BDD) and/or nanocrystalline diamond films were grown on porous titanium (Ti) substrate by hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) technique. Powder metallurgy technique was used to obtain the Ti substrates provided by interconnected and open pores among its volume. Diamond growth parameters were optimized in order to provide the entire substrate surface covering including the deeper surfaces, pore bottoms, and walls. The morphology and structure of these electrodes were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and visible Raman spectroscopy techniques, respectively. Electrochemical response was characterized by cyclic voltammetry measurements. Results showed a wide working potential window and low background current characteristic of the diamond electrodes. The kinetic parameters also pointed out to a quasi-reversible behavior for these hybrid three-dimensional diamond/Ti electrodes.  相似文献

The hollow Co(3)O(4) microspheres (HCMs) were prepared by the carbonaceous templates, which did not need the surface pretreatment. The chemiluminescence (CL) and catalytic properties for CO oxidation over these hollow samples were evaluated. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy disperse spectra (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (ED), X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and N(2) adsorption. The influences of filter' band length, flow rate of gas, test temperature, and particle structure on CL intensities were mainly investigated. It was found that compared with the solid Co(3)O(4) particles (SCPs), HCMs had a stronger CL intensity, which was ascribed to its hollow structure; and that CL properties of the catalysts were well correlated with their reaction activities. Moreover, HCMs were used to fabricate a highly sensitive gas detector, which is a rapid and effective method for the selection of catalysts or the detection of environmental deleterious gases.  相似文献

Properties of hybridized deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) arrays on single-crystalline undoped and boron-doped diamonds are studied at the microscopic level by atomic force microscopy (AFM) in buffered electrolytic solutions. DNA is linked to diamond via aminodecene molecules (TFAAD) that are attached to undoped diamonds by a photochemical reaction and via nitrophenyl-diazonium molecules attached electrochemically to boron-doped diamonds. Both H-terminated and oxidized diamond surfaces are used in this process. On H-terminated surfaces, AFM measurements detect compact DNA layers. By analyzing phase and height contrast in AFM, a DNA layer height of 76 A is determined on the photochemically functionalized diamonds and a DNA layer height of up to 92 A is determined on the electrochemically functionalized diamonds. Based on the layer thickness, the DNA chains are tilted under the angle of 31 degrees . The morphology of the DNA layers exhibits long-range (30-50 nm) undulations of 20 A in height and a nanoroughness of 8 A. Using Hertz's model for calculating the contact area of the AFM tip on a DNA layer and a geometrical model of DNA arrangement on diamond yields the DNA density on diamonds of 6 x 10(12) cm(-2) on both photochemically and electrochemically functionalized diamonds. The structure of these dense DNA layers is not significantly influenced by variations in buffer salinity of 1-300 mM NaCl. DNA molecules can be removed from the diamond surface by contact-mode AFM with forces >or= 45 nN and >or= 76 nN on photochemically and electrochemically functionalized diamonds, respectively, indicating that DNA is bonded covalently and stronger on diamond than on gold substrates. The DNA arrangement and bonding strength are similar on oxidized diamond surfaces when using an electrochemical process. On oxidized surfaces after photochemical processing, DNA is bonded noncovalently as deduced from the removal force < 6 nN. The presence of hybridized DNA as well as the selective removal of DNA by AFM scanning are corroborated by fluorescence microscopy.  相似文献

We report a novel method of one-step direct amination on polycrystalline diamond to produce functionalized surfaces for DNA micropatterning by photolithography. Polycrystalline diamond was exposed to UV irradiation in ammonia gas to generate amine groups directly. After patterning, optical microscopy confirmed that micropatterns covered with an Au mask were regular in size and shape. The regions outside the micropatterns were passivated with fluorine termination by C3F8 plasma, and the chemical changes on the two different surfaces--the amine groups inside the patterned regions by one-step direct amination and fluorine termination outside the patterned regions--were characterized by spatially resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The patterned areas terminated with active amine groups were then immobilized with probe DNA via a bifunctional molecule. The sequence specificity was conducted by hybridizing fluorescently labeled target DNA to both complementary and noncomplementary probe DNA attached inside the micropatterns. The fluorescence micropatterns observed by epifluorescence microscopy corresponded to those imaged by optical microscopy. DNA hybridization and denaturation experiments on a DNA-modified diamond show that the diamond surfaces reveal superior stability. The influence of a different amination time on fluorescence intensity was compared. Different terminations as passivated layers were investigated, and as a result, fluorine termination points to the greatest signal-to-noise ratio.  相似文献

We developed a capillary electrophoretic system incorporating an ultra-violet absorption (UV)/chemiluminescence (CL) dual detector, taking advantage of the CL reaction of luminol-hydrogen peroxide and the batch-type CL detection cell. UV detection was carried out using the on-capillary method while CL detection was performed using the end-capillary method. Examination of isoluminol isothiocyanate (ILITC) as a model sample revealed two main peaks with UV detection and one main peak with CL detection. The first peak in the UV detection data corresponded to the main peak in the CL detection data. We then determined that the ILITC sample included natural ILITC as well as an impurity that had absorption behavior but did not have CL properties and labeling ability. Furthermore, the components of a mixture containing glycine, glycylglycine and glycylglycylglycine, all labeled with ILITC, were well separated and detected using the present system. The present system easily, rapidly, and simultaneously produces useful information due to the presence of both UV and CL detectors.  相似文献

Thin films of ZnO were grown by the sol–gel method using spin-coating technique on (0001) sapphire substrates. The effect of doping after annealing on the structural and optical properties has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), cathodoluminescence (CL) spectrum, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The films that were dried at 623 K and then post annealed at 873 K showed (0002) as the predominant orientation. Two emission bands have been observed from CL spectrum. Lithium doped film shows shift in the near band edge UltraViolet emission peak and suppressed defect level emission peak in the visible range. SEM analysis of the films exhibits many spherical shaped nanoparticles. Roughness of the films determined using atomic force microscopy.   相似文献

Diamond is known for its high affinity and biocompatibility towards biomolecules and is used exclusively in separation sciences and life science research. In present study, diamond nanopowder is derivatized as Immobilized Metal Ion Affinity Chromatographic (IMAC) material for the phosphopeptides enrichment and as Reversed Phase (C-18) media for the desalting of complex mixtures and human serum profiling through MALDI-TOF-MS. Functionalized diamond nanopowder is characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. Diamond-IMAC is applied to the standard protein (β-casein), spiked human serum, egg yolk and non-fat milk for the phosphopeptides enrichment. Results show the selectivity of synthesized IMAC-diamond immobilized with Fe3+ and La3+ ions. To comprehend the elaborated use, diamond-IMAC is also applied to the serum samples from gall bladder carcinoma for the potential biomarkers. Database search is carried out by the Mascot program (www.matrixscience.com) for the assignment of phosphorylation sites. Diamond nanopowder is thus a separation media with multifunctional use and can be applied to cancer protein profiling for the diagnosis and biomarker identification.  相似文献

Diamond crystals and films have been success full y synthesized by DC thermal plasma jet CVD at a pressure of I atrn. A novel triple torch plasma reactor has been used to generate a convergent plasma volume to entrain the participating gases. Three coalescing plasma jets produces! by this reactor direct the dissociated and ionized gaseous species onto ( 100) silicon wafer substrates where the diamond grows. In a typical 10-min run, depending on the method of .substrate preparation, either microcrystals with sizes up to 8 m or continuous films with thicknesses of 1–2 m have been obtained. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy have been used for the characterization of the crystals and of the films.  相似文献

This paper describes the adsorption and spreading of beta-cyclodextrin (CD) vesicles on hydrophobic and hydrophilic substrates, which involves a transition from bilayer vesicles to planar molecular monolayers or bilayers. On substrates that are patterned with self-assembled monolayers by microcontact printing (muCP), the CD vesicles preferentially adsorb on hydrophobic areas instead of hydrophilic (nonionic) areas, and on cationic areas instead of hydrophilic (nonionic) areas. Supported monolayers of amphiphilic cyclodextrins CD1 and CD2 were obtained by adsorption of CD vesicles to hydrophobic substrates, and supported bilayers of amphiphilic cyclodextrins CD1 and CD2 were prepared by adsorption of CD vesicles on cationic substrates. Contact angle goniometry, atomic force microscopy and confocal fluorescence microscopy (CFM) were used to analyze the supported CD layers. The fluidity of the supported CD layers was verified using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching experiments. The supported layers function as a supramolecular platform that can bind suitable guest molecules through inclusion in the CD host cavities. Additionally, the CD host layers were patterned with fluorescent guest molecules by supramolecular muCP on the supported CD layers. The host-guest interactions were investigated with CFM and fluorescence resonance energy transfer experiments.  相似文献

Chemical depth profiles of frictional brass layers processed on steel substrates were performed using glow discharge mass spectrometry. Due to the continuously varying concentrations of zinc, copper and iron in the frictional layers a linear combination of the relative sensitivity factors and sputter rates of the pure iron and brass matrix was used to quantify the depth profiles. The quantified data indicate a non-stoichiometric copper content of the investigated layers.  相似文献

We have investigated the formation of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of 4'-nitro-1,1-biphenyl-4-diazonium tetrafluoroborate (NBD) onto ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) thin films. In contrast to the common approach to modify diamond and diamond-like substrates by electrografting, the SAM was formed from the saturated solution of NBD in acetonitrile by pure chemical grafting. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS) have been used to verify the direct covalent attachment of the 4'-nitro-1,1-biphenyl (NB) SAM on the diamond substrate via stable C-C bonds and to estimate the monolayer packing density. The results confirm the presence of a very stable, homogeneous and dense monolayer. Additionally, the terminal nitro group of the NB SAM can be readily converted into an amino group by X-ray irradiation as well as electrochemistry. This opens the possibility of in situ electrochemical modification as well as the creation of chemical patterns (chemical lithography) in the SAM on UNCD substrates and enables a variety of consecutive chemical functionalization for sensing and molecular electronics applications.  相似文献

Boron doped diamond films have been grown adhered to silicon substrates by chemical vapor deposition using boron containing gases. In this work it was shown that it is possible to grow free-standing boron doped CVD diamond films on partially stabilized zirconia substrates using boron powder as the source for doping. Results from Raman spectroscopy confirmed the boron incorporation with concentration up to ∼1020 cm−3. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy showed that the effect of boron incorporation in the microstructure of the diamond film is negligible. The measurement of the resistivity as a function of temperature confirmed the semiconductor behavior, as expected for p-type diamond.  相似文献

Platinum nanoparticles supported on boron-doped single-crystalline diamond surfaces were used as a model system to investigate the catalytic activity with respect to the influence of particle morphology, particle density and surface preparation of the diamond substrates. We report on the preparation, characterization and activity regarding hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) of these Pt/diamond electrodes. Two kinds of diamond layers with boron doping above 10(20) cm(-3) were grown epitaxially on (100)-oriented diamond substrates; post-treatments of wet chemical oxidation and radio frequency (rf) oxygen plasma treatments were applied. Electrochemical deposition of Pt was performed using a potentiostatic double-pulse technique, which allowed variation of the particle size in the range between 1 nm and 15 nm in height and 5 nm and 50 nm in apparent radius, while keeping the particle density constant. Higher nucleation densities on the plasma processed surface at equal deposition parameters could be related to the plasma-induced surface defects. Electrochemical characterization shows that the platinum particles act as nanoelectrodes and form an ohmic contact with the diamond substrate. The catalytic activity regarding HER and HOR of the platinum nanoparticles exhibits no dependence on the particle size down to particle heights of ~1 nm. The prepared Pt on diamond(100) samples show a similar platinum-specific activity as bulk platinum. Therefore, while keeping the activity constant, the well-dispersed particles on diamond offer an optimized surface-to-material ratio.  相似文献
