This paper develops a numerical model to identify constitutive parameters in the fractional viscoelastic field. An explicit semi-analytical numerical model and a finite difference (FD) method based numerical model are derived for solving the direct homogenous and regionally inhomogeneous fractional viscoelastic problems, respectively. A continuous ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm is employed to solve the inverse problem of identification. The feasibility of the proposed approach is illustrated via the numerical verification of a two-dimensional identification problem formulated by the fractional Kelvin–Voigt model, and the noisy data and regional inhomogeneity etc. are taken into account.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a mathematical model and present numerical simulations for ice melting phenomena. The model is based on the phase-field modeling for the crystal growth. To model ice melting, we ignore anisotropy in the crystal growth model and introduce a new melting term. The numerical solution algorithm is a hybrid method which uses both the analytic and numerical solutions. We perform various computational experiments. The computational results confirm the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method for ice melting.  相似文献

In this work adaptive and high resolution numerical discretization techniques are demonstrated for solving optimal control of the monodomain equations in cardiac electrophysiology. A monodomain model, which is a well established model for describing the wave propagation of the action potential in the cardiac tissue, will be employed for the numerical experiments. The optimal control problem is considered as a PDE constrained optimization problem. We present an optimal control formulation for the monodomain equations with an extra-cellular current as the control variable which must be determined in such a way that excitations of the transmembrane voltage are damped in an optimal manner. The focus of this work is on the development and implementation of an efficient numerical technique to solve an optimal control problem related to a reaction-diffusions system arising in cardiac electrophysiology. Specifically a Newton-type method for the monodomain model is developed. The numerical treatment is enhanced by using a second order time stepping method and adaptive grid refinement techniques. The numerical results clearly show that super-linear convergence is achieved in practice.  相似文献

The problem addressed in this paper is the verification of numerical solutions of nonlinear dispersive wave equations such as Boussinesq-like system of equations. A practical verification tool for numerical results is to compare the numerical solution to an exact solution if available. In this work, we derive some exact solitary wave solutions and several invariants of motion for a wide range of Boussinesq-like equations using Maple software. The exact solitary wave solutions can be used to specify initial data for the incident waves in the Boussinesq numerical model and for the verification of the associated computed solution. The invariants of motions can be used as verification tools for the conservation properties of the numerical model.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the analytical and numerical investigations of a one-dimensional population balance model for batch crystallization processes. We start with a one-dimensional batch crystallization model and prove the local existence and uniqueness of the solution of this model. For this purpose Laplace transformation is used as a basic tool. A semi-discrete high resolution finite volume scheme is proposed for the numerical solution of the current model. The issues of positivity (monotonicity), consistency, stability and convergence of the proposed scheme for the current model are analyzed and proved. Finally, we give a numerical test problem. The numerical results of the proposed high resolution scheme are compared with the solution of the reduced four-moments model and the first-order upwind scheme.  相似文献

Based on the linear wave theory, the mild-slope equation (MSE) is a preferred mathematical model to simulate nearshore wave propagation. A numerical model to solve the MSE is developed here on the basis of a self-adaptive finite element model (FEM) combined with an iterative method to determine the wave direction angle to the boundary and thus to improve the treatment of the boundary conditions. The numerical resolution of the waves into ideal domains and multidirectional waves through a breakwater gap shows that the numerical model developed here is effective in representing wave absorption at the absorbing boundaries and can be used to simulate multidirectional wave propagation. Finally, the simulated wave distribution in a real harbor shows that the numerical model can be used for engineering practice.  相似文献

Compared to the classical Black-Scholes model for pricing options, the Finite Moment Log Stable (FMLS) model can more accurately capture the dynamics of the stock prices including large movements or jumps over small time steps. In this paper, the FMLS model is written as a fractional partial differential equation and we will present a new numerical scheme for solving this model. We construct an implicit numerical scheme with second order accuracy for the FMLS and consider the stability and convergence of the scheme. In order to reduce the storage space and computational cost, we use a fast bi-conjugate gradient stabilized method (FBi-CGSTAB) to solve the discrete scheme. A numerical example is presented to show the efficiency of the numerical method and to demonstrate the order of convergence of the implicit numerical scheme. Finally, as an application, we use the above numerical technique to price a European call option. Furthermore, by comparing the FMLS model with the classical B-S model, the characteristics of the FMLS model are also analyzed.  相似文献

In the two-phase flow field, a traditional mathematical model for simulating the transition of severe slugging flow presents a challenge when liquid slugs completely block pipelines. Accordingly, an advanced and practical slug model that is derived from a mixture model associated with a slip closure is essential to solving the problem in cooperation with the two-fluid model. The model can offset numerical instability that arises from the discontinuous function of the friction factor across the transition from one flow pattern to the other. Two numerical schemes, the non-iterative and the iterative, are developed, and the proposed schemes can stably predict the transient problems under the Courant–Friedrichs–Lewy (CFL) condition for semi-implicit/implicit schemes. In the present work, pressure transients produced by a complex phenomenon, named water hammer effect, are captured using the single-phase flow model in one-dimension to verify the applicability of the numerical schemes and the friction factor model. At last, the analysis of the two-phase transient flow in a pipeline-riser system indicates that the significant advantage of the present schemes is the robustness that the numerical prediction of the severe slugging behaviour is accurate and stable.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the numerical solution of the equations governing two-phase gas-solid mixture in the framework of thermodynamically compatible systems theory. The equations constitute a non-homogeneous system of nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws. A total variation diminishing (TVD) slope limiter centre (SLIC) numerical scheme, based on the splitting approach, is presented and applied for the solution of the initial-boundary value problem for the equations. The model equations and the numerical methods are systematically assessed through a series of numerical test cases. Strong numerical evidence shows that the model and the methods are accurate, robust and conservative. The model correctly describes the formations of shocks and rarefactions in two-phase gas-solid flow.  相似文献

A methodology is proposed for the efficient determination of gradient information, when performing gradient based optimisation of an off-road vehicle’s suspension system. The methodology is applied to a computationally expensive, non-linear vehicle model, that exhibits severe numerical noise. A recreational off-road vehicle is modelled in MSC.ADAMS, and coupled to MATLAB for the execution of the optimisation. The successive approximation method, Dynamic-Q, is used for the optimisation of the spring and damper characteristics. Optimisation is performed for both ride comfort and handling. The determination of the objective function value is performed using computationally expensive numerical simulations. This paper proposes a non-linear pitch-plane model, to be used for the gradient information, when optimising ride comfort. When optimising for handling, a non-linear four wheel model, that includes roll, is used. The gradients of the objective function and constraint functions are obtained through the use of central finite differences, within Dynamic-Q, via numerical simulation using the proposed simplified models. The importance of correctly scaling these simplified models is emphasised. The models are validated against experimental results. The simplified vehicle models exhibit significantly less numerical noise than the full vehicle simulation model, and solve in significantly less computational time.  相似文献

In coastal ocean modeling, one desires to capture the evolution and interaction of multi-scales of physical phenomena in a complicated physical domain. With limited computer resources, an appropriate choice of the numerical grid has a key role in determining the quality of the solution of a numerical coastal ocean model. Traditionally, single-block rectangular grids have been most commonly used in coastal ocean modeling for their simplicity. An effective coastal ocean model represents the dynamics of the coastal ocean flow on a numerical grid, including the effects of complicated features such as coastlines, bottom topography (submarine canyons, seamounts, narrow straits), and multi-scale physical phenomena. These problems require a model grid system more efficient than a traditional single-block rectangular grid. The model grids must give better resolution of coastlines and boundary conditions, multi-scale physical phenomenon, and save computer resources. These grids can also easily increase horizontal resolution in a subregion of the model domain without increasing computer expense with high resolution over the entire domain. The multi-block numerical generation grid technique is used in developing a coastal ocean system applied to the Mediterranean Sea (MED) with complicated coastlines, bottom topography and multi-scale physical features. The MED coastal ocean system consists of the MED model based on the Princeton Ocean Model, numerical grid generation routines, and a grid package which allows the model to be coupled with model grids. The traditional, nine-block orthogonal grid, and eight-block curvilinear nearly orthogonal coastline-following grid are used in the study. The numerical solutions with the three grids are compared in term of effectiveness. The numerical simulations show some MED basic physical features.  相似文献

The choice of non-standard material parameters in the presented micropolar continuum model leads to a highly nonlinear problem which calls also for a nonlinear numerical treatment. The model benefits in describing length scale effects as really non-linear effects. The numerical torsion test is one example for the possibilities of our model. (© 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. In this paper, we develop a numerical model based on spectral methods for the simulation of heat transfer due to radial irradiation microwave applied to samples in cylindrical geometry. We solve the Maxwell’s equations and the resulting electric field distribution is incorporated as a source term in the heat transfer equation. The model includes the temperature dependence of the dielectric properties. The numerical model is validated with experimental temperature data from literature.  相似文献

A numerical model for simulating the transient behaviour of multi-fluid problems defined in 2D rectangular and cylindrical geometries is presented. The model uses a piecewise linear volume tracking scheme, and maintains sharp interfaces and captures fine-scale flow phenomena such as fragmentation and coalescence. The numerical model was applied to four problems of pyrometallurgical relevance – entrainment of matte in the flow of slag during skimming operations, splash resulting from a drop impinging on a bath, bubble rise in a liquid bath, and top-submerged gas injection. The numerical predictions are in good agreement with the published experimental results. The simulation of top-submerged gas injection showed, in detail, the phenomena of bubble formation, bubble rise, and splash drop formation and recoalescence with the bath. Data useful for engineering purposes such as pressure traces and time-averaged flow fields were obtained, allowing assessment of splash behaviour for given gas injection conditions. The numerical model has been shown to be versatile in being able to adapt to a wide range of multi-phase flow problems.  相似文献

In this work, we are interested in obtaining an approximated numerical solution for the model of vibrating elastic membranes with moving boundary. The model is an extension of Kirchhoff’s model, which takes into account the change of size during the vibration. We apply the finite element method with a finite difference method in time to obtain an approximated numerical solution. Some numerical experiments are presented to show the effect of moving boundary effects in vibrating elastic membranes.  相似文献

In this paper, we formulate and analyze a new fractional-order Logistic model with feedback control, which is different from a recognized mathematical model proposed in our very recent work. Asymptotic stability of the proposed model and its numerical solutions are studied rigorously. By using the Lyapunov direct method for fractional dynamical systems and a suitable Lyapunov function, we show that a unique positive equilibrium point of the new model is asymptotically stable. As an important consequence of this, we obtain a new mathematical model in which the feedback control variables only change the position of the unique positive equilibrium point of the original model but retain its asymptotic stability. Furthermore, we construct unconditionally positive nonstandard finite difference(NSFD) schemes for the proposed model using the Mickens' methodology. It is worth noting that the constructed NSFD schemes not only preserve the positivity but also provide reliable numerical solutions that correctly reflect the dynamics of the new fractional-order model. Finally, we report some numerical examples to support and illustrate the theoretical results. The results indicate that there is a good agreement between the theoretical results and numerical ones.  相似文献

A hybrid numerical model is developed for the simulation of three-dimensional, unsteady non-Darcy flow through an unconfined aquifer. The major problem in analysing flow through unconfined aquifers is that they involve two boundaries, namely a surface of seepage and a free surface, the location of which is not known beforehand. The model that is presented here determines these boundaries via a two stage modelling technique. In the first stage a one-dimensional finite difference model is used to estimate the surface of seepage height whereas in the second stage a vertically integrated finite element model determines the free surface solution within the flow domain. A comparison between numerical and experimental results is included which indicates the sensitivity of the numerical solution to the selected aquifer parameters, particularly to those associated with the determination of the height of the surface of seepage.  相似文献

Slurry flow consisting of 63% electrostatic filter ash and 37% water is subject of investigation reported in this contribution which tries to determine the most appropriate rheological model. The authors have modeled experimental data obtained from actual experimental setup, i.e. pipe viscometer and derived model parameters for Power Law as well as for Sisko model. Based on this analysis a numerical simulation of experiment has been attempted using well known Power Law model and taking the advantage of CFX 4.3 numerical code. This was mainly attempted in order to verify use of the same numerical package later for purpose of building a library of friction coefficients to be used in pipe flow analysis with lumped parameters computer code.  相似文献

This work contributes to the study of nuclear plant thermal discharges in coastal areas by using a numerical model which solves the Navier-Stokes-Reynolds equations for shallow waters and the energy equation for computing temperature variations. The numerical model takes into account the heat flux given in the upper layer, where the free surface and the atmosphere interact. In this study, the thermal plume dispersion from the nuclear power plant Laguna Verde, Veracruz, Mexico, is analyzed. Bathymetry, oceanographic, meteorological, hydrologic and plant operating data are used to run numerical simulations. The results are compared against observed data showing good agreement. The Nash-Suffle's criterion is also applied to verify the quality of the numerical solution obtaining suitable results.  相似文献
