Titanium dioxide thin films have been prepared from tetrabutyl-orthotitanate solution and methanol as a solvent by sol-gel dip coating technique. TiO2 thin films prepared using a sol-gel process have been analyzed for different annealing temperatures. Structural properties in terms of crystal structure were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The surface morphology and composition of the films were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The optical transmittance and reflectance spectra of TiO2 thin films deposited on silicon substrate were also determined. Spectroscopic ellipsometry study was used to determine the annealing temperature effect on the optical properties and the optical gap of the TiO2 thin films. The results show that the TiO2 thin films crystallize in anatase phase between 400 and 800 °C, and into the anatase-rutile phase at 1000 °C, and further into the rutile phase at 1200 °C. We have found that the films consist of titanium dioxide nano-crystals. The AFM surface morphology results indicate that the particle size increases from 5 to 41 nm by increasing the annealing temperature. The TiO2 thin films have high transparency in the visible range. For annealing temperatures between 1000 and 1400 °C, the transmittance of the films was reduced significantly in the wavelength range of 300-800 nm due to the change of crystallite phase and composition in the films. We have demonstrated as well the decrease of the optical band gap with the increase of the annealing temperature.  相似文献

This work presents the annealing temperature effect on the properties of mercury (Hg)-doped titanium dioxide (TiO2). Thin films and polycrystalline powders have been prepared by sol-gel process. The structure, surface morphology and optical properties, as a function of the annealing temperature, have been studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman, reflectance and ellipsometric spectroscopies. In order to determine the transformation points, we have analyzed the xerogel-obtained powder by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Raman spectroscopy shows the crystalline anatase and rutile phases for the films annealed at 400 °C and 1000 °C respectively. The AFM surface morphology results indicate that the particle size increases from 14 to 57 nm by increasing the annealing temperature. The complex index and the optical band gap (Eg) of the films were determined by the spectroscopic ellipsometry analysis. We have found that the optical band gap decreases by increasing the annealing temperature.  相似文献

Float glass substrates covered by high quality ITO thin films (Balzers) were subjected for an hour to single thermal treatments at different temperature between 100 °C and 600 °C. In order to study the electric and optical properties of both annealed and not annealed ITO-covered float glasses, ellipsometry, spectrophotometry, impedance analysis, and X-ray measurements were performed. Moreover, variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry provides relevant information on the electronic and optical properties of the samples. ITO film is modeled as a dense lower layer and a surface roughness layer. The estimated optical density for ITO and the optical density of the surface roughness ITO layer increases with the annealing temperature. In the near-IR range, the extinction coefficient decreases while the maximum of the absorption in the near UV range shift towards low photon energy as the annealing temperature increases. Spectrophotometry was used to estimate the optical band-gap energy of the samples. The thermal annealing changes strongly the structural and optical properties of ITO thin films, because during the thermal processes, the ITO thin film absorbs oxygen from air. This oxygen absorption decreases the oxygen vacancies therefore the defect densities in the crystalline structure of the ITO thin films also decrease, as confirmed both by ellipsometry and X-ray measurements.  相似文献

Tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) films with 200 nm thickness were deposited on glass substrates by DC magnetron sputtering at room temperature. And they were annealed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) method in vacuum ambient at different temperature for 60 s. The effect of annealing temperature on the structural, electrical and optical properties of ITO films was investigated. As the RTA temperature increases, the resistivity of ITO films decreases dramatically, and the transmittance in the visible region increases obviously. The ITO film annealed at 600 °C by RTA in vacuum shows a resistivity of 1.6 × 10−4 Ω cm and a transmittance of 92%.

Aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films have been deposited by electron beam evaporation technique on glass substrates. The structural, electrical and optical properties of AZO films have been investigated as a function of annealing temperature. It was observed that the optical properties such as transmittance, reflectance, optical band gap and refractive index of AZO films were strongly affected by annealing temperature. The transmittance values of 84% in the visible region and 97% in the NIR region were obtained for AZO film annealed at 475 °C. The room temperature electrical resistivity of 4.6×10−3 Ω cm has been obtained at the same temperature of annealing. It was found that the calculated refractive index has been affected by the packing density of the thin films, whereas, the high annealing temperature gave rise to improve the homogeneity of the films. The single-oscillator model was used to analyze the optical parameters such as the oscillator and dispersion energies.  相似文献

Thermal stability of Ag films in air prepared by thermal evaporation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The thermal stability of silver films in air has been studied. Pure Ag films, 250 nm in thickness, were prepared on glass substrates by thermal evaporation process, and subsequently annealed in air for 1 h at temperatures between 200 and 400 °C. The structure and morphology of the samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectra and atomic force microscopy. It is found that the crystallization enhances for the annealed films, and film surface becomes oxidized when annealing temperature is higher than 350 °C. The electrical and optical properties of the films were studied by van der Pauw method and spectrophotometer, respectively. Reflectance drops sharply as Ag films are annealed at temperatures above 250 °C. Film annealed at 250 °C has the maximum surface roughness and the minimum reflectance at 600 nm optical wavelength. Film annealed at 200 °C has the minimum resistivity, and resistivity increases with the increasing of the annealing temperature when temperature is above 200 °C. The results show that both oxidization on film surface and agglomeration of silver film result in infinite of electrical resistivity as the annealing temperature is above 350 °C.  相似文献

Tin oxide (SnO2) thin films (about 200 nm thick) have been deposited by electron beam evaporation followed by annealing in air at 350-550 °C for two hours. Optical, electrical and structural properties were studied as a function of annealing temperature. The as-deposited film is amorphous, while all other annealed films are crystalline (having tetragonal structure). XRD suggest that the films are composed of nanoparticles of 5-10 nm. Raman analysis and optical measurements suggest quantum confinement effects that are enhanced with annealing temperature. For instance, Raman peaks of the as-deposited films are blue-shifted as compared to those for bulk SnO2. Blue shift becomes more pronounced with annealing temperature. Optical band gap energy of amorphous SnO2 film is 3.61 eV, which increases to about 4.22 eV after crystallization. Two orders of magnitude decrease in resistivity is observed after annealing at 350-400 °C due to structural ordering and crystallization. The resistivity, however, increases slightly with annealing temperature above 400 °C, possibly due to improvement in stoichiometry and associated decrease in charge carrier density.  相似文献

In this paper we report on the effect of annealing on the microsctructural and optoelectronic properties of titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films prepared using sol-gel method onto silicon (Si) (100) and quartz substrates. The annealing temperatures range from 200 to 1000 °C. The Microstructural properties of annealed thin films were investigated by Thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman Spectroscopy. The surface morphology of the film was examined using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) method. The optical properties of TiO2 thin films were characterized using UV-VIS and Spectroscopic ellipsometry. The results have shown that the TiO2 thin films persist in the anatase phase even after annealing at 800 °C. The phase transformation from anatase to rutile occurred only when the films were annealed at 1000 °C. AFM studies revealed nanocrystalline structure where their shape and density depend strongly on the annealing temperatures. The elaborated nanostructured-TiO2 thin films present a high transparency in the visible range. Spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) study was used to determine the effect of annealing temperature on the thickness and on the optical constant of TiO2 thin films. Spectroscopic ellipsometry and UV-VIS shows that the band gap of TiO2 thin films was found to decrease when the annealing temperature increases. The Anatase phase was find to show higher photocatalytic activity than the rutile one.  相似文献

In this paper, a ZnS/Ag/MoO3 (ZAM) nano-multilayer structure is designed theoretically and optimum thicknesses of each layer are calculated. ZnS/Ag/MoO3 multilayer films with optimized thicknesses have also been fabricated on glass substrates by thermal evaporation method at room temperature. The structural, electrical and optical properties of ZnS/Ag/MoO3 multilayer are investigated with respect to the variation of annealing temperature. X-ray diffraction patterns show that increase in annealing temperature increases the crystallinity of the structures. High-quality multilayer films with the sheet resistance of 4.5 Ω/sq and the maximum optical transmittance of 85% at 100 °C annealing temperature are obtained. The allowed direct band gap for annealing at different temperatures is estimated to be in the range of 3.37–3.79 eV. The performance of the ZAM multilayer films are evaluated using a predefined figure of merit. These multilayer films can be used as transparent conductive electrodes in optoelectronic devices such as solar cells and organic light emitting diodes.  相似文献

Nanostructured TiO2 thin films were deposited on quartz glass at room temperature by sol–gel dip coating method. The effects of annealing temperature between 200C to 1100C were investigated on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of these films. The X-ray diffraction results showed that nanostructured TiO2 thin film annealed at between 200C to 600C was amorphous transformed into the anatase phase at 700C, and further into rutile phase at 1000C. The crystallite size of TiO2 thin films was increased with increasing annealing temperature. From atomic force microscopy images it was confirmed that the microstructure of annealed thin films changed from column to nubbly. Besides, surface roughness of the thin films increases from 1.82 to 5.20 nm, and at the same time, average grain size as well grows up from about 39 to 313 nm with increase of the annealing temperature. The transmittance of the thin films annealed at 1000 and 1100C was reduced significantly in the wavelength range of about 300–700 nm due to the change of crystallite phase. Refractive index and optical high dielectric constant of the n-TiO2 thin films were increased with increasing annealing temperature, and the film thickness and the optical band gap of nanostructured TiO2 thin films were decreased.  相似文献

Highly transparent conductive Al2O3 doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films have been deposited on the glass substrate by pulsed laser deposition technique. The effects of substrate temperature and post-deposition annealing treatment on structural, electrical and optical properties of AZO thin films were investigated. The experimental results show that the electrical resistivity of films deposited at 240 °C is 6.1 × 10−4 Ω cm, which can be further reduced to as low as 4.7 × 10−4 Ω cm by post-deposition annealing at 400 °C for 2 h in argon. The average transmission of AZO films in the visible range is 90%. The optical direct band gap of films was dependent on the substrate temperature and the annealing treatment in argon. The optical direct band gap value of AZO films increased with increasing annealing temperature.  相似文献

We have prepared SrTiO3/BaTiO3 thin films with multilayered structures deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass by a sol-gel deposition and heating at 300-650 °C. The optical properties were obtained by UV-vis spectroscopy. The films show a high transmittance (approximately 85%) in the visible region. The optical band gap of the films is tunable in the 3.64-4.19 eV range by varying the annealing temperature. An abrupt decrease towards the bulk band gap value is observed at annealing temperatures above 600 °C. The multilayered film annealed at 650 ° C exhibited the maximum refractive index of 2.09-1.91 in the 450-750 nm wavelength range. The XRD and AFM results indicate that the films annealed above 600 ° C are substantially more crystalline than the films prepared at lower temperatures which were used to change their optical band gap and complex refractive index to an extent that depended on the annealing temperature.  相似文献

Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films prepared at different substrate temperature and AZO films with intentional Zn addition (ZAZO) during deposition at elevated substrate temperature were fabricated by radio frequency magnetron sputtering on glass substrate, and the resulting structural, electrical, optical properties together with the etching characteristics and annealing behavior were comparatively examined. AZO films deposited at 150 °C showed the optimum electrical properties and the largest grain size. XPS analysis revealed that AZO films deposited at elevated temperature of 450 °C contained large amount of Al content due to Zn deficiency, and that intentional Zn addition during deposition could compensate the deficiency of Zn to some extent. It was shown that the electrical, optical and structural properties of ZAZO films were almost comparable to those of AZO film deposited at 150 °C, and that ZAZO films had much smaller etching rate together with better stability in severe annealing conditions than AZO films due possibly to formation of dense structure.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of annealing temperature on optical constants was studied. The ZnO films were deposited on microscopic glass substrates using the sol-gel method for various annealing temperatures. The deposited zinc oxide (ZnO) films were characterized by an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), a spectrophotometer and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The transmittance spectra recorded through the spectrophotometer exhibits 90% transmittance. The XRD spectra showed polycrystalline nature of ZnO film. Optical constants were determined through transmittance spectra using an envelope method. It was found that there was a significant effect of annealing temperature on the refractive index and extinction coefficient of deposited ZnO films. In this experiment, the optimum refractive index value of 1.97 was obtained at 350 °C annealing temperature at visible (vis) wavelength. The optical energy gap was found to be of ∼3.2 eV for all the samples. The top view of SEM showed the ZnO grain growth on the glass substrates.  相似文献

Zinc oxide thin films were deposited by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. The films were annealed in vacuum at temperatures of 400, 600, and 800 °C. The influence of annealing on the structural, chemical, and optical properties of the films was investigated. From a structural point of view, the films were highly oriented, with columnar microstructure. Chemical analysis indicated that the films were sub-stoichiometric, and that the concentration of oxygen vacancies was enhanced upon annealing. The films were highly transparent in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions. Transparency was reduced as the annealing temperature was increased. The refractive index and extinction coefficient, in the transparent regions of the films, were derived from transmittance measurements. The refractive index manifested variation that was affected by crystallite size, roughness and defect concentration. The extinction coefficient of the as-deposited films and those annealed at 400 °C was negligible. However, the films annealed at 600 or 800 °C had much larger values of the extinction coefficient due to increased absorption or scattering. The absorption coefficient and optical band gap of the films were derived from spectrophotometric measurements. The absorption coefficient showed progressive increase with the annealing temperature. However, the band gap did not show significant variation.  相似文献

Au/SiO2 nanocomposite films were fabricated on Si (111) substrates by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering technique and annealing at different temperature for 20 min (mode A) and at 1000 °C for different annealing time (mode B). The nanocomposite films were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL). SEM results demonstrate that the size of Au crystallites in mode A first increases and then decreases, on increasing annealing temperature, according to the results of XRD spectra. Analysis of PL spectra in mode B shows that the intensity of the emission peak at 440 nm and 523 nm early increases and late decreases, with increasing annealing time at 1000 °C. The origin of the emission peak at around 440 nm was related to the size and quantity of Au particles and one of the emission peak at around 523 nm was related to the nanostructure of films in agreement with SEM imagines. Experimental results indicated that morphology, microstructure and luminescence of Au/SiO2 nanocomposite films showed close affinity with annealing temperature and annealing time.  相似文献

Indium-doped ZnO thin films are deposited on quartz glass slides by RF magnetron sputtering at ambient temper- ature. The as-deposited films are annealed at different temperatures from 400 C to 800 C in air for 1 h. Transmittance spectra are used to determine the optical parameters and the thicknesses of the films before and after annealing using a nonlinear programming method, and the effects of the annealing temperatures on the optical parameters and the thickness are investigated. The optical band gap is determined from the absorption coefficient. The calculated results show that the film thickness and optical parameters both increase first and then decrease with increasing annealing temperature from 400 C to 800 C. The band gap of the as-deposited ZnO:In thin film is 3.28 eV, and it decreases to 3.17 eV after annealing at 400 C. Then the band gap increases from 3.17 eV to 3.23 eV with increasing annealing temperature from 400 C to 800 C.  相似文献

ZnO thin films were synthesised by a new method which uses polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as polymer precursor. The films are annealed at different temperatures and for different annealing times. The structural parameters, like grain size, lattice constants, optical band gap, and Urbach energy, depend on the annealing temperature and annealing time. All the films possess tensile strain which relaxes as the annealing temperature and the annealing time increases. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra contain only ultraviolet (UV) peaks at low temperature, but as the annealing temperature and time increase we observe peaks at blue and green regions with variation of the intensities of these peaks with annealing temperature and annealing time.  相似文献
