We present evidence that in deuteron-nucleus scattering, the production of pions with momenta greater than the average momentum per nucleon in the projectile can be explained by the assumption of a six quark component at short distances in the deuteron. The size of this component is shown to agree with data on the large momentum transfer deuteron form factor.  相似文献

Recent results of photodisintegration of deuteron and 3He measured with the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer at Jefferson Lab are reported. The onset of dimensional scaling is investigated in the two-body photodisintegration of 3He, with the results indicating a scaling onset at remarkably low energy and momentum transfer. Results on the azimuthal asymmetry of deuteron photodisintegration are expected to aid in understanding the dominant mechanisms of deuteron photodisintegration and the underlying dynamics in the medium-energy region. In this region, neither effective field theories nor perturbative QCD can be used to describe the reaction, and understanding the underlying dynamics is based on phenomenological quark models.  相似文献

With a particular view to gaining a real understanding of the quark degrees of freedom in nuclei, we propose a simple model for nucleon-nucleon interactions within the framework of the quark cluster theory, which simultaneously incorporates the quark- and gluon-exchange mechanism at short distance and the meson-exchange mechanism at long and intermediate distances. It is shown to reproduce the experimental NN phase shifts and the deuteron properties fairly well. The model is then applied to a study of the electromagnetic properties of the two-baryon system, by putting particular emphasis upon the relation with conventional nuclear theory. The present study shows how the quark degrees of freedom, which should manifest themselves at high momentum transfer, are concealed in the conventional treatment of the two-nucleon problem as long as we observe low momentum transfer phenomena only.  相似文献

The Sivers mechanism for the single-spin asymmetry in unpolarized lepton scattering from a transversely polarized nucleon is driven by the orbital angular momentum carried by its quark and gluon constituents, combined with QCD final-state interactions. Both quark and gluon mechanisms can generate such a single-spin asymmetry, though only the quark mechanism can explain the small single-spin asymmetry measured by the COMPASS Collaboration on the deuteron, suggesting the gluon mechanism is small relative to the quark mechanism. We detail empirical studies through which the gluon and quark orbital angular momentum contributions, quark-flavor by quark-flavor, can be elucidated.  相似文献

Employing a simplified non-relativistic quark cluster model for deuteron and α-particle, we investigate the effects of quark exchange and modification of nucleon size on nuclear form factors, quark momentum distributions and nucleon quasifree scattering. We find that the size modification affects all the above quantities and that the quark exchange has an appreciable influence on the quasifree scattering.  相似文献

Low-P T production off deuteron in the fragmentation region is studied on the basis of a six-quark picture of deuteron. It is argued that all the six valence quarks participate equally in the hadronization processes associated with meson and baryon productions. Thex-distribution of the inclusive cross sections is studied in the framework of a quark recombination model. Fit with experimental data leads to a determination of the valence and sea quark distributions in deuteron. Probabilistic arguments applied to a general recombination picture are shown to lead to some experimentally verifiable constraints on baryon multiplicities. Possibilities of determining the various recombination probabilities are also discussed.  相似文献

We study deeply virtual Compton scattering and deep exclusive meson electroproduction on a deuteron target. We model the generalized quark distributions in the deuteron by using the impulse approximation for the lowest Fock-space state on the light cone. We study the properties of the resulting GPDs, and verify that sum rules violations are quite small in the impulse approximation. Numerical predictions are given for the unpolarized cross-sections and polarization asymmetries for the kinematical regimes relevant for JLab experiments and for HERMES at HERA. We conclude that the signal of coherent scattering on the deuteron is comparable to the one on the proton at least for low momentum transfer, providing support to the feasibility of the experiments. The (2)H(e,e'p)n cross section at a momentum transfer of 3.5 (GeV/c)(2) was measured over a kinematical range that made it possible to study this reaction for a set of fixed missing momenta as a function of the neutron recoil angle θ(nq) and to extract missing momentum distributions for fixed values of θ(nq) up to 0.55 GeV/c. In the region of 35°≤θ(nq)≤45° recent calculations, which predict that final-state interactions are small, agree reasonably well with the experimental data. Therefore, these experimental reduced cross sections provide direct access to the high momentum component of the deuteron momentum distribution in exclusive deuteron electrodisintegration.  相似文献

Tensor polarization t20 of the deuteron is calculated on the basis of a hybrid quark hadron model. A relativistic wave function of the deuteron is used to calculate the relativistic impulse approximation and the contribution of the ρπγ meson exchange process. Tensor polarization observables ( t(20), t(21), and t(22)) have been measured in elastic electron-deuteron scattering for six values of momentum transfer between 0.66 and 1.7 (GeV/c)(2). The experiment was performed at the Jefferson Laboratory in Hall C using the electron High Momentum Spectrometer, a specially designed deuteron magnetic channel and the recoil deuteron polarimeter POLDER. The new data determine to much larger Q2 the deuteron charge form factors G(C) and G(Q). They are in good agreement with relativistic calculations and disagree with perturbative QCD predictions.  相似文献

The deuteron structure functions for elastic electron scattering and the deuteron static properties have been calculated with the inclusion of isobar admixtures to the deuteron wave function and meson exchange currents. At higher momentum transfers the structure functions are increased significantly because of the strong enhancement of the deuteron magnetic dipole form factor. Roughly 15–35% of this enhancement depending on the momentum transfer arise from the meson exchange currents.  相似文献

The two leading twist, quark helicity conserving generalized parton distributions (GPDs) of 3He, accessible, for example, in coherent deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS), are calculated in impulse approximation (IA). Their sum, at low momentum transfer, is found to be largely dominated by the neutron contribution, so that 3He is very promising for the extraction of the neutron information. Anyway, such an extraction could be not trivial. A technique, able to take into account the nuclear effects included in the IA analysis in the extraction procedure, even at moderate values of the momentum transfer, is proposed. Coherent DVCS arises therefore as a crucial experiment to access, for the first time, the neutron GPDs and the orbital angular momentum of the partons in the neutron.  相似文献

Results are presented on the ratios of the nucleon structure function in copper to deuterium from two separate experiments. The data confirm that the nucleon structure function,F 2, is different for bound nucleons than for the quasi-free ones in the deuteron. We derive general expressions for isoscalar electromagnetic form factors of nuclei including meson-exchange processes such as π, ?, ω and ?πγ exchange. Meson-nucleon vertices for nonzero momentum transfer as well as the effect of the finite width of the ?-meson are taken care of. Specifically, the electromagnetic form factors of the deuteron are calculated up to a momentum transfer of q2 ≈ 200 fm?2. A detailed numerical discussion of the various effects on meson-exchange processes is given. The effect of different deuteron wave functions and two types of photon-nucleon form factors are also discussed.  相似文献
