Under study are the solvable nonabelian linear groups of infinite central dimension and sectional p-rank, p ≥ 0, in which all proper nonabelian subgroups of infinite sectional p-rank have finite central dimension. We describe the structure of the groups of this class. 相似文献

Our goal is to establish an efficient decomposition of an ideal of a commutative ring as an intersection of primal ideals. We prove the existence of a canonical primal decomposition: , where the are isolated components of that are primal ideals having distinct and incomparable adjoint primes . For this purpose we define the set of associated primes of the ideal to be those defined and studied by Krull. We determine conditions for the canonical primal decomposition to be irredundant, or residually maximal, or the unique representation of as an irredundant intersection of isolated components of . Using our canonical primal decomposition, we obtain an affirmative answer to a question raised by Fuchs, and also prove for that an ideal is an intersection of -primal ideals if and only if the elements of are prime to . We prove that the following conditions are equivalent: (i) the ring is arithmetical, (ii) every primal ideal of is irreducible, (iii) each proper ideal of is an intersection of its irreducible isolated components. We classify the rings for which the canonical primal decomposition of each proper ideal is an irredundant decomposition of irreducible ideals as precisely the arithmetical rings with Noetherian maximal spectrum. In particular, the integral domains having these equivalent properties are the Prüfer domains possessing a certain property.

It is proved that is injective if is an injective module over a valuation ring , for each prime ideal . Moreover, if or is flat, then is injective, too. It follows that localizations of injective modules over h-local Prüfer domains are injective, too.

In this paper we introduce the notion of Jordan socle for nondegenerate Lie algebras, which extends the definition of socle given in [A. Fernández López et al., 3-Graded Lie algebras with Jordan finiteness conditions, Comm. Algebra, in press] for 3-graded Lie algebras. Any nondegenerate Lie algebra with essential Jordan socle is an essential subdirect product of strongly prime ones having nonzero Jordan socle. These last algebras are described, up to exceptional cases, in terms of simple Lie algebras of finite rank operators and their algebras of derivations. When working with Lie algebras which are infinite dimensional over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0, the exceptions disappear and the algebras of derivations are computed. 相似文献

The classical Prüfer transformation has proved to be a useful tool in the study of Sturm-Liouville theory. In this paper we introduce the Prüfer transformation for self-adjoint difference equations and use it to obtain oscillation criteria and other results. We then offer an extension of this approach to the case of general symplectic systems on time scales. Time scales have been introduced in order to unify discrete and continuous analysis, and indeed our results cover as special cases both the Prüfer transformation for differential and for difference equations.

Let be an integral domain with quotient field and integral closure . An overring of is a subring of containing , and denotes the set of overrings of . We consider primarily two finiteness conditions on : (FO), which states that is finite, and (FC), the condition that each chain of distinct elements of is finite. (FO) is strictly stronger than (FC), but if , each of (FO) and (FC) is equivalent to the condition that is a Prüfer domain with finite prime spectrum. In general satisfies (FC) iff satisfies (FC) and all chains of subrings of containing have finite length. The corresponding statement for (FO) is also valid.

We define locally wide finitary 2-categories by relaxing the definition of finitary 2-categories to allow infinitely many objects and isomorphism classes of 1-morphisms and infinite dimensional hom-spaces of 2-morphisms. After defining related concepts including transitive 2-representations in this setting, we provide a new method of constructing coalgebra 1-morphisms associated to transitive 2-representations of locally wide weakly fiat 2-categories, and demonstrate that any such transitive 2-representation is equivalent to a certain subcategory of the category of comodule 1-morphisms over the coalgebra 1-morphism. We finish the paper by examining two classes of examples of locally wide weakly fiat 2-categories: 2-categories associated to certain classes of infinite quivers, and singular Soergel bimodules associated to Coxeter groups with finitely many simple reflections. 相似文献

We study solvability of equations of the form x
n = g in the groups of order automorphisms of archimedean-complete totally ordered groups of rank 2. We determine exactly which
automorphisms of the unique abelian such group have square roots, and we describe all automorphisms of the general ones. 相似文献

We continue the study of directoid groups, directed abelian groups equipped with an extra binary operation which assigns an upper bound to each ordered pair subject to some natural restrictions. The class of all such structures can to some extent be viewed as an equationally defined substitute for the class of (2-torsion-free) directed abelian groups. We explore the relationship between the two associated categories, and some aspects of ideals of directoid groups. 相似文献

We show that the Denjoy rank and the Zalcwasser rank are incomparable. We construct for any countable ordinal differentiable functions and such that the Zalcwasser rank and the Kechris-Woodin rank of are but the Denjoy rank of is 2 and the Denjoy rank and the Kechris-Woodin rank of are but the Zalcwasser rank of is 1. We then derive a theorem that shows the surprising behavior of the Denjoy rank, the Kechris-Woodin rank and the Zalcwasser rank.
